Harder difficulties in previous FE games have tended mostly to boost the stats of basic enemies, usually leaving the boss alone (maybe giving them new skills, changing their AI, or just making them harder to get to in general). The only real exception I'm aware of is FE12, where lunatic boosts the stats on everything to a ridiculous degree, to the point at which you have a good chance of locking yourself into an unbeatable scenario if you can't find some way to get Marth's speed to 25 on the final map.

My Dark Knight Annette had 19 speed with a speed ring on and the final boss would double her from a million miles away. Depends. You usually want to promote asap because classes give growth bonuses BUT, some classes have really good fucking skills. Like dark mages get (an unfortunately nerfed) lifetaker, fighters get death blow, peg knights get darting blow.
I suggest looking up the class skills and deciding.
Keep in mind too, master classes are mostly sidegrades with the exception of Gregory and arms master

Guys I'm playing Black Eagles route and is it just me or do absolutely none of them have plot relevancy outside of Edelgard and Hubert themselves? They just don't react much to anything whereas in my Blue Lions run, it felt like everyone was relevant in their own way. I'm only at chapter 8 but they haven't shown as much chemistry as the BL for me.

Honestly most of the supports are just great. It's insane how much better they are than Awakening. I just got done with Annette and Felix's A+ support and my heart is full right now.

Nah, BE is basically the Edelgard show, everyone else is just dragged along in her wake. We don't see the broader implications of El's power grab so the nobles in her route never really come I into play like in the Deer route, which makes Lorenz, Hilda, and Lysithia relevant.

I think Catherine is a very good fit, too. The best looking one, for sure. I just like the other two better because those mention how happy Dimitri is in his endings.

Black Eagles route is a step down in character interpersonal drama cohesion because they don't have events surrounding them unlike in the Blue Lions. A lot of the Blue Lions work on interpersonal drama which is why despite the fact they don't reveal lore of the world, it still feels like a triumphant journey for all of them.

Its a pretty high tier FE and while it has more mechanics than most of them you can ignore them since normal/hard modes are piss easy

No his son was scapegoated by Catherine as an accomplice to the Duscur shitshow. The Church had him executed on really shaky evidence and Lonato had a lust for revenge ever since. That chapter is made for Blue Lions because not only does Ashe become Punished by being made to help kill his adopted father, it foreshadows what might happen to the class if Dimitri lets his desire for revenge consume him as Lonato's did. Claude just says whatever and Edelgard praises Lonato by saying lives lost in service of a higher cause are not lives wasted. three guesses as to how she justifies all her atrocious war crimes later

Honestly it's wasted potential, they could have easily fit something in any of the noble's fathers.
Ferdinand's dad was the prime minister he could have held a revolt against edelgard taking rule, Bernadetta's father is known as a cruel and sadistic father so he could have just had an important position + private army and could have been an antagonist. Hell they could have had both in the same battle where the sadist joins up with the prime minister and it only take an extra chapter.

Instead all the problems that could arise are dealt with during the timeskip so we miss out on the fun of uniting the empire before they attack the other nations which would have been a way to get the other characters actually involved.

This, honestly. I feel like every route was supposed to be 30 chapters long and uniting the houses against the Empire. Post-timeskip is just super badly paced. It's two chapters of "damn... the empire really owns everyone and everything... it's hopeless, we'll never win,,," 5 chapters of fucking the empire and the empire's mother in the ass without issue, and 3 chapters of big reveals and BBEGs.
I wish they'd finished the game. But it's a Nintendo franchise so it's doomed to this constant one step forward one step back half baked bullshit that still ends up "good enough."

I think I finally understand what rubs me so wrongly about Edelgard's ending. It tells us that everyone loved her reign and that she was a just and fair ruler, but nothing we see in the game itself supports that. Every invaded territory fucking hates the Empire and fight back as hard as they can to stop her. Edelgard herself is a control freak who clearly believes she's the only one who can be trusted to guide Fodlan into the future. People like that are not fair rulers, they're paranoid authoritarians who ruthlessly weed out any dissent or sedition. Shit, even if Edelgard herself was cool with criticism, Hubert sure as fuck wouldn't let anyone get away with it and would use the shiny new secret police Empress-chan gave him to remove undesirables.
The whole thing is like if Dimitri stayed Nuclear the entirety of the Blue Lions route and then the ending tells you he ruled as a wise, restrained king who valued peace and quiet above all else. That'd be fucking stupid, because Dimitri would have clearly shown himself to be an axe-crazy blood thirsty psycho. Instead, we see in the story how Dimitri grows from a deranged murder hobo into the noble prince Faerghus needed him to be, so when the ending tells us he had a wondrous reign we aren't caught flat footed and bewildered.

I got unlucky with Ashe and he had around 22 STR at level 40, but the utility that Bow Knights offer made up for it. Slapped a crit ring on him, and had him snipe enemies from afar all with Brave Bow and Killer Bows, he actually got plenty of kills this way despite such low STR

Honestly like the the 3H cast well enough but the Awakening boys were fucking top. Gregor is my absolute favorite and Petra could've been female Gregor but the direction they took with her voice acting is unfortunate

He's low key busted if you put him through dark classes- and end in dark knight. Poison strike+lifetaker on a unit with such good defense and repositioning makes him a surprisingly good tank off his sustain alone

Edelgarde's route only exists as a bonus option and clearly had the least amount of time devoted to it. Blue Lions has every character have some stakes in the story, a strong character arc about redemption, the most chapters, endings that actually reflect what happens in the game. As well as the very heavy foreshadowing in supports about Dmitri handing the knife to a girl that tried to kill him mirroring Edelgardes actions when he tries to spare her, it wouldn't surprise me if Blue Lions was the route they first planned out with Golden Deers being a more casual option and then Black eagles intending to be the insane 'evil' route. But waifufags are still assmad over Edelgarde being blatantly evil so try to spin the story to her not being a sociopathic dictator.

BL just doesn't give any exposition into the overarching lore or story I can't see how it's the first route written. If anything GD seems more like it to me since BL just kinda circlejerks around Dmitri then ends in the same shitty way BE does. Claude gets shitndonr while Dmitri goes full tard mode.

I just noticed Blue Lion is the canon house pick with the mock battle.
In BL ,everyone has their respective colors, and this doesn't happen in the other two route.
Blue lions have yellow colors for some reason in GD route.
