Should I play on Ironman? I can't stop save scumming in this type of game and it feel like cheating

CK2 thread or any other grand strategy games.

Ironman is the only way to play.

What if I accidentally made a mistake or RNG decide to shit on me?

I just cant figure out this fuckin game. I play with the cheat mod and spawn myself troops whenever i get fucked up. How the hell do you stop factions? They come out of nowhere, befriending the members doesnt stop them, and imprisoning them is just rng

it isnt save scumming if you keep losing or something, save scumming is more like reloading in skyrim 20 times to suceed a 1% pickpocket attempt

>not savescumming in ironman too
lol

t. save scummer
You can savescum in ironman too [/spoiler[

You can savescum in ironman. It's just more annoying

You keep playing.

So save scumming is just using the savegame feature at all besides for resuming play at a later date? You get game over and just restart the game ever time? restart scummer.

You keep going. Thats the point. Life throws you curveballs and you keep going, thats what makes it interesting, losing everything and having to work your way back up from the bottom is a part of the game. Also i think the brits should return north ireland to its rightful owners

>no dlc

Factions come from vassals with low opinion of you and/or special traits like ambitious, and most important!! faction power is calculated by your power (troops) vs faction members troops.
The number one mistake that new players make is not make yourself powerful - if you have the capability of having 5 domain power then go ahead and have 5 counties. In the end this means you get 2K troops when your unhappy one size vassal only gets 500 troops, making it easier to control them. In fact in early game (duke level) your shouldn't have vassals in the first place.

Also it's easier to make one vassal happier and say 5 happier, so make one vassal duke or king and give him some guys to be under him. If this ain't enough go ahead and marry the vassal, giving you a non-aggression pack making it impossible for him to join factions (this last one is the only way to successfully make a world conquest).

You can get the game plus all dlc for 16 bucks on humble bundle right now

Don't bother, if you can't stop yourself from reloading, you won't be able to dtop yourself from closing it with task manager

name more based borders than this

I see the latest one Holy Fury there but the phrasing
>all essential dlc
is kind of iffy. Is it really everything? Because if so that's surprisingly generous and un-jewy for Paradox.

it's all the main DLC, the only thing missing is music and unit packs.

Crusader Kings is the only one that I can do Ironman in since losing doesn't feel like as big of a hit as it does in say Vicky 2. You have so much time in CK2 it's ridiculous, you can bounce back from anything.

>Always max out your domain
>the most important laws in early to mid game is max out domain and to change succession laws
>GET OUT OF GAVELKIND FAST! seniority is easy to get early on, later you can go Primogeniture or Ultimogeniture
>never give away counties if you aren't above your domain
>having more than two duchies yourself it will make your vassals have a negative modifier about it
>upgrading your holdings is actually powerful, the braindead ai doesn't often do it
>when you reach empire level go for viceroyalties, divide your empire by only viseroyal kings and get non aggression packs

Playing without save scumming and walkthrough is more fun for me. Even when something is going bad.

>Reactionaries in charge
well done

>Frog
>hates the one entity that prevented Frog dominance over Europe
typical

could never get into ck2. last time i played i picked some guy in scandanavia, my neighbor declared war on me, destroyed my army, and then a few months later invited me to be his chancellor

Every god-tier saintly ruler is the same, but all inbred retarded homos are unique in their own

He just wanted you to be his vassal. Become his chancellor, seduce his wife and daughters and take over his shit.

Console commands are the only way to play

Took me so many restarts, things like this only shows how bs the AI can be sometimes.

>no krakow lake
Impressive

Attached: 1565028430610.jpg (3440x1440, 1.1M)

What are some defensible positions for me to turtle in?

GB is good but too many colonies in the beginning make me feel like playing easymodo.

Korea is great geographically but need to westernize.

Scandanavia is fun but disappointingly Russia never declare war on me.

Is there a way to claim entire nations, other than marriage? Doing it one province at a time takes fucking ages

How do I do this on harder difficulties? Scotland or England just swallows me up when they have 20x my man.

I can

Okay now, this time I'll finally play CK2 Ironman for real!
Anything should I know?

As long as your dynasty hasn't died out, you havent lost

get out /his/

All history games are /his/ property

Attached: 1462580310287.png (954x248, 90K)

You won't be dowed if you don't have something your neighbour wants (their cores mainly)

Attached: 1563000344568.jpg (650x1033, 207K)

So I should mod in a Russian core on Lund?

That could be fun.

Send help. Every Vicky II game is me declaring on some African nation to get the ball rolling, and every game ends up the same.

Give me a nation that can avoid scrambling for Africa.

>Give me a nation that can avoid scrambling for Africa
impossible

Is there a way to mod out certain continents to speed the game up in Victoria II? Can I get rid of the Americas?

China is hilarious but you will end up having the biggest army in the world, capable of defeating several world powers at the same time.

Fighting China first in Tapiping revolution and again vs the whole China when you westernize is pretty shitty.

Getting a claim for your character? There are:
Crusades
Great conquest (both realms must be 250 in size irc)
Invasions (usually pagans have those)
Inviting claimants, landing them and pressing their claims
And the best of all, being an emperor, inviting a heir to a kingdom, and giving him a kingdom

get a better computer

This. Ironman only. Savescumming in CK2 is boring and pointless.
Most of fun in CK2 is knowing that all your actions have consequences and big fuckups might turn into pretty entertaining shit, sometimes even more beneficial in the long run. It's hard to get actual "game over" and 90% of lethal fuckups usually happen in first 50 years of your playthrough so it's not a big deal to start over.
And yeah, inbred sons are unironically just a surprise mechanic.

It's fine to play normally to practice, but yes Ironman is the only real way to play. Same as in Football Manager

That isn't very Christ-like, Mozart.

Mozart was a good Christian and a much greater mind than Voltaire. That's probably a fake quote, as theres no way I would ever have said that

>I

Attached: 1555452886251.jpg (500x594, 46K)

I don't know about the quote, but he didn't like that Voltaire was an atheist. They were both geniuses, there is really no need to pretend otherwise just because we disagree with some religious opinion.

How to do ultimo? While I agree that it has benefits in trying again and again to get good traits, I find the bigger threat of leaving a child heir too much

From the perspective of a religious person, the non-religious literally cannot have the correct morals if they don't follow the correct faith and its teachings.

I still try to be friendly with them even if they erroneously believe I can't possibly find moral values outside of their very narrow religious spectrum.

For both Primogeniture or Ultimogeniture you need to pass your laws all the way to "Late Feudal Administration" (also need legalism level 3 tech to pass this, meaning it might take a couple of years to get it that's why you go seniority first just to get away from gavelkind).
Personally I find Primogeniture easier because regencies are hard in this game especially when you are a child - you will be above youe domain limit and you can't give anything away because council doesn't allow, or declare war etc etc.

can anyone give advice on how to get claims on foreign lands? my chancelor with 20 plus in diplomacy has been spending years fabricating a claim in some 2 county state

Sending your guy to forge claims will aways be slow as shit. Try to look for other type of claims: weak claims by invite people that have them; holy wars; if you are pagan you can use the duel cb to get ez land; conquest etc etc

how about catholic on catholic or catholic on orthodox claims? should i invite people from their land with strong claims on certain lands, go to war, and make them my vassal? doesn't that like put those characters under the foreign country's rule? kind of like a war among vassals with each other?

I personally like Tribal Elective because it leaves the bulk of your demesne untouched, and electors' preference for unlanded young guys means other family members can keep pumping out kids, no problem

>doesn't that like put those characters under the foreign country's rule?
If you press a someone's claim they will be independent, that's why you must give them land first (making them your vassal) then when you win the war they will be under you. Usually most people build castles.

clever

additionally you can marry someone with claims, press your wife's claim then your heir will get both yours and her land.
sometimes things might not work out because this two realms might have two different succession laws, so this requires some thinking - but it's rewarding to get a whole new kingdom with wars.

>Life throws you curveballs and you keep going, thats what makes it interesting
I couldn't agree more my good frie-
>the brits should return north ireland to its rightful owners
kill yourself fenian prick. Cromwell, King Billy and the potato blight didn't kill enough of you mick rats

Attached: hans4.png (1280x800, 668K)

interesting stuff. i'm quite mad right now because recently i earned i duchy from a crusade and i made my legitimised bastard daughter my claimant, since she was under age i married her off to a noble from my land in a Matrilineal marriage before we won the crusade. it all went well and she became duchess. then her husband died of suspicious circumstances and she got married to a land owner. i just got cucked from my dynasty ruling parts of the kingdom of jerusalem. she's pregnant though, at this point im unsure who the father is but i hope it's from her previous marriage but even then the kid might get assassinated.

is there anything i can do to save him?

For me, its After The End

Attached: Kkvz.jpg (1200x675, 196K)

Rewards from the crusades are pure RNG and they will always end up losing it back to the muslims. If you want to get land from the the crusades don't appoint anyone and tell the pope to fuck off - this means that if you end up being the biggest contributor you will gain the entire kingdom. If you aren't that powerful enough don't appoint women since the AI almost always doesn't get a matrilineal marriage.
I guess now your best bet is too wait for the kid to be born, kill him once he is born, then kill her husband and get her a proper matrilineal marriage.

still waiting for the new update for the pagan reformations.

what if I'm lucky and the kid is from the previous marriage, thus, part of my dynasty?

also how do i assassinate people in foreign countries? i'm the king of hungary right now

>what if I'm lucky and the kid is from the previous marriage, thus, part of my dynasty?
yes if not kill both the kid and husband and get her a proper marriage.
>also how do i assassinate people in foreign countries? i'm the king of hungary right now
in the character page there should be a dagger symbol.

i know how to do it but that takes a really long time using assassinations

Assassinations only kick off when you are 100% or above.

>vanilla

If you can stomach that trash I don't even want to talk to you

i see. even at 100%, they take ages. thanks for the advice though

>He doesn't use direct assassination

>just spam money lmao
I guess user could use this but it makes the game so boring.
