Party Ys is strictly a handheld thing to me after playing Seven and Celceta. Tried the demo on PS4 and it just felt wrong.

That's a rather arbitrary thing to get hung up on. Yeah, it sucks a bit relative to Ys but stuff like Shining Resonance Refrain, TWEWY, and Tales in general does stuff like that, not to mention games like Dragon's Dogma and Kingdom Hearts giving the player helper characters that function a lot like a party.
