MMOs

>Internet is faster and cheaper
>Computers are better
>Social media is one of the main ways people communicate
>Yet MMOs are dead and every new one either fails miserably or is unplayable unless you pay a disgusting amounts of money at random times

>hey bro why are you talking in gchat? We're all in the discord bro

>Socializing is scary
Beta

Back to your discord, tranny

people are too autistic to communicate, big news

New high quality MMOs will come with new players in the market, the old cancer must first vanish

internet lines havent been upgraded in my part of the us in 20 years
i welcome the day when at&t gets bought by a competent company

>mfw I'm spic and even I have better internet

>WoW has made all MMO stagnant for 10+ years
>Even the competition is just WoW with a different skin
>WoW will continue to release expansions as long as people keep buying them.
MMO will never come back to life, cause people keep supporting the death of MMO

Attached: 1499597993995.jpg (5760x3840, 1.25M)

they charge me 50 bucks a month for less than .1 mb/s
FUCK AT&T AND THEIR JEWISH UNWILLINGNESS TO UPGRADE LINES

the future of mmo gaming is an overworld you can roam in while you waiting for your ranked game to load up/or you can just hang out there
imagine you login in overwatch and instead of a menu you can enter a big city and play minigames/chat to people while you're waiting for your 10 minute ranked queue

Normies don't want to play games in way they are meant to be played.
Thats why in first place we have problems with gameplay(no gameplay at all instead) and thats why mmo died too
Also, with datamine, magic gone too.

How do you not go mental with that internet speed?

it's because social media is one of the main ways people communicate. MMOs serve no purpose.

People grow up and stop doing the things they did when they where younger. Families and jobs take time away from people that they used to have to play video games.

Just play Old School Runescape then fag.

i just accept that theres a lot of things i cant do online
i lose myself when im at a place with decent speed
years ago i planned my sleep schedule around when my sister was asleep so i could actually play games online instead of losing connection within 2 seconds of connecting every time. sadly she has some really bad mental issues so its possible she is going to move back in with us when she gets back from college

MMOs are meant to be grinded and are designed to waste your time with minimal effort to keep you paying. They died because that sucks.

It will, everyone's turning on blizzard, slowly but surely. All it takes someone with some fresh ideas and enough backers and the rest will be history.

No sense of adventure. Too themeparky, not enough open world sandbox RPG ones that actually encourage exploration and finding a job to do (archeage tried but trion fucked it). Always pay to win and no sense of community.

The real killer here.

I feel like VR is the new frontier for MMO's its just nobody has made a good one yet.

Dann user. That sucks. In almost 2020 speeds like that should be illegal. Think you need to try moving user or maybe hope they more in your area want better internet connection so your isp have a larger incentive to provide it

Just go play fucking MMOs with Japanese players
You'll have to learn Japanese first tho

>JP peeps too fucking shy to hop on voice chat
>also prefer text in the interest of avoiding miscommunication and embarrassment
>it's a rare day when you're able to get the JP bros on voice chat anyway
>most people extremely polite
>while still possible to be a disrespectful twat in Japanese, the language isn't as conducive to what English speakers understand to be disrespectful speech

Japanese players are largely stuck in the year 2000 as far as gaming socialization goes, and that's a damn good thing

yeah Archeage had some really fun aspects to it. Too bad about the whole Trion and "walletwarrior" thing. Rarely do we get to see a game where you can literally be unkillable if you just pay enough cash, what a great idea

the people in my area tried petitioning at&t multiple times but due to monopoly laws no other ISP can run lines here (they have tried)
at&t told us to fuck off
on the bright side i should be moving in a few years to an area where i can get about 2 MB/s, which im excited about

MMO mechanics are dependent on skinnerbox retention instead of being an actually fun game to play.

Remember when they said it’d be cosmetic shit only? What a load. That game used to be so much fun. Sailing the high seas on my comfy vessel trying my best to avoid pirates and gankers with my friend I met in game while we’re on a trade run. Chillin at my farm or building a house and decorating it. Goin deep sea lava stone mining for some serious cash and hell, even becoming a fisherman owning a fishing vessel was fun. God damn them that was THE mmo until they raped it...

All games are like that

Vanilla WoW was a shitty game and still is a shitty game.

>look at all those people in the same place with our 56k!
>woah persistent worlds are gonna be so cool
MMOs were a novelty

Looking for illegal tree plantations in the mountains and then sniping the thunder logs (whatever it was called), doing trade routes with wagons and suddenly a bridge you need to cross is blocked by other players who ask for a toll... and if you don't pay you have to go the extremely slow route under water... man dynamic stuff like that is really missing in MMOs. player made economies are a start but there needs to be a reason for players to meet each other in the wild as well. Really miss games like that

EVE?

>All those MMOs you had fun with until the developers ruined it.
There's too many to list.

Why make something worth replaying over and over again when you can just tie a reward at the end of a long grind? It ends up making the people more focused on the grind instead of the enjoyment of playing the game.

Because

1. adults who used to play MMOs don't want to play games where you're insta-killed by kids spending all summer farming goat asses for legendary weapons
2. more kids now are into mobile shit anyway
3. the novelty of interacting with other people online is gone

WoW filled a specific niche which doesn't really exist anymore

>Woah look at all these people playing on such a large map in WW2 Online (2004)
>Just imagine the scale and numbers that they will be able to achieve in 10 years!
Managed to achieve absolutely fuck all apparently

>gw2
>get exclusive title for successfully defending city 100 times
>city attacked every 2 hours
>mfw I'm only 24/100 progress

Attached: 1551920138776.png (357x371, 155K)

>tfw want to play classic with Yea Forums but Yea Forums doesn't want to play classic with me

>exclusive title
And you get a special helmet if you repeatedly bang your head on the floor.

MMOs would unironically be better if more took ideas from Mabinogi.

>EVE
If they reworked combat to a Freelancer style direct ship control and made the interface simpler, if would be the best of all MMO's.

>the future of mmo gaming.
The "future" of mmo gaming is less multiplayer aspects and more single player ones. You can already see them toning down the amount of focus in "group" activities and more towards the single player experiences. I mean when was the last time you've actually grouped up with people and it wasn't for some "World Boss", "Raid" or "Dungeon"? Last month? Last week? That's the issue, MMOs now a days focus way to much on making the player 'feel' powerful to the point where joining groups becomes less and less interesting for them to the point where the "strats" become something never talked about. Oh, you wanna take down X guy? then just follow what this cuck e-celeb says or follow the "dungeon journal" where everything is spelled out for you. Modern mmo audiences don't want to work with other people anymore and being forced to work with others always results in them raging like some anti-social noob, It's honestly pathetic. Things will not change unless the developers for these products stop catering towards the casual players that only play like once a month or the players that only care about Raid and Dungeons.

I think that with a couple changes and effort black desert online could be the perfect modern mmo.

No one really gives a shit about titles. Its about how sparkly you look

you joke, but you dont know how right you are. You get a special backpiece if you craft like 18 different weapons using the materials from the battles.

The problem is that MMOs haven't evolved anymore. MMOs reflect the trends of the internet community during their era. The most successful MMOs are the ones that broke new ground and changed the formula.

Modern 90s sandboxes aren't going to fix MMOs
WoW themeparks aren't going to fix MMOs.
The next popular MMO if there even is one is going to be something that rewrites the conventions to fit in with a more modern era, but knowing the way that the modern internet works it's probably going to be some heavy social media integration combined with low effort and instant gratification shit where new players can compete with people who've been playing for hundreds of hours.

Because all those things contributed massively to the destruction of SOUL
unironically
the internet becoming easy to use was the absolute worst thing to possibly happen to it

Used to play XI all night and watch .hack on toonami in the background. Fucking loved it and couldn't wait for the future of MMOs

Got what a disappointment. I'd be happy if they just brought XI back honestly but even that's not going to happen

The only chance 11 has now is if the mobile version is the classic version of the game before trusts and stuff. We know it's just a straight port of the game, we just don't know what version.

>bro get in the server and join the guild and join the discord and get on voice chat and make this your part time job and here i'll link you up to the accepted meta builds and in the meantime we can
no, just no. absolutely worst game archetype.
