Gonna be honest

This thing is going to have a sudden dropoff (tho not as extreme but definitely still noticable) like the wii once the nextgen Playstation comes out.

Probably will reach 70ish million lifetime. Still a highly profitable venture for nintendo.

They are not in the same market. And you're too young to even remember the Wii, there was no drop off.

Wii sales cratered hard in 2010 after a slight downtrend in 09. It was one of the biggest sales collaspses I've seen in the console space.

I was born in the mid 80s

The Wii did drop off a cliff in year 4, but it wasn't due to competition, casuals simply moved on.

>Probably will reach 70ish million lifetime. Still a highly profitable venture for nintendo.

Not really once you consider the lost sales from not having a Gameboy/DS line to supplement the home console sales.

Remember when seething shitters said it would flop? LMAO

Its a good job Nintendo have other new sources of revenue like amiibos, mobile fone games, online subscriptions and theme parks.

How will Nintendo survive? The Switch has been a complete financial disaster!!!

Fucking kek.

>tenga processor
God, I wish

>this insecurity

Sony have made more from FGO alone than all of that crap you mentioned combined.

What games did the Wii get after 2010 besides Skyward Sword anyway? I feel like that was the reason for sales tapering off.

I guess that explains why they don’t bother putting games on ps4

It already had it's "dropoff" the next few month's sales are going to ramp up.

Well duh Nintendo is a hot fall-winter item
They don’t care about spring and summer

>implying customers still trust basedny

Oh good, autistic wordfilters.

You're "being honest" about having uneducated expectations regarding the video games market?

That's fresh.

>he doesn't have a Masters in Vidya Gaem Marketing
What a child.

We've seen the trend of hyper front loaded and trash bagged Nintendo hardware before.

16 million isn't a drop off from 20. And then it sold another 10 the next year.

That is a massive crater for a system not even in its 6th year, I'm sorry lol

What is another example?

>A steady decline with reoccurring increases is a massive crater of failure
Only in your mind.

>Pokemon coming soon
>New model coming soon
>With the second half of 2019 schedule of game releases

At the very least it's having another high if so.

The Switch is their portable you fucking brainlet. I never bought a Wii U specifically because Nintendo handhelds make way more sense to buy, and then they just combined their console and handheld into one so we don't have to choose.

That said OP is right about it being in trouble once next gen drops. The one saving grace of the Switch is that it can actually run some current gen games, that wont be the case for next gen titles.

99% of Switch sales come from first-party games, the only especially relevant third-party market is indies and those will still run.

I'm also a tendie but they lowered their sales estimates to 20m when they didn't think they would reach their original goal. It's not even the hardware's fault though, it's the lack of first party games. 2 and coming up on 3 years and we only have 3 worthwhile games and a port of a Wii U game. Mario Maker 2 was the only good game that came out on this thing. One good game for the entire year potentially is fucking awful. We now have a system that has both Nintendo's 3DS and home console IPs so we really shouldn't be having this problem.

It had Mario Galaxy 2, Sonic Colours, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Last Story, a Rune Factory game, Rhythm Heaven Fever, a Taiko game exclusive to Japan, the Project Zero 2 port, No More Heroes 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, a Super Monkey Ball game for Wii Fit?, the Sakura Wars spin-off, Metroid Other M (LOL), Kirby Epic Yarn, Pandora's Tower and I think that's it. Considering, it had a lot of games mainly no one cared or were massively underprinted about concentrating in 2010, but it wasn't a pickle.

The Wii dropped off because they didn't make any games worth a shit after the first couple years.
Most games were just gimmicks with the motion controls, and Switch doesn't really have a big brand new gimmick like that to milk.

sure bro

That's true but if the Switch is able to port relevant AAA games then it makes it seem like a better buy for consumers. I've personally enjoyed playing Dark Souls and the like on it more than indies.

If you market it as a console which only plays the yearly good Nintendo release and nothing else then what kid will want this thing over a PS4?

>that wont be the case for next gen titles.
Video games made zero progress in the gameplay department that would facilitate the use of stronger hardware. All the power upgrade we've seen in the bone and PS4 went into trying to pretty up the graphics so that people actually want to buy these things.
Switch will continue getting current-gen games, except they'll still look like smeared shit.

Well, let's be honest, it will only ever run last gen titles well. There are not many current AAA games that are worth it on there (DQXI, maybe?)

All it has is Zelda and Smash. There's literally no other reason to own it.

Oh, also, the Just Dance craze started around 2009 keeping on till today. Those are the games people bought.

>gameplay department that would facilitate the use of stronger hardware

Yeah but they did facilitate the use of better graphics you retard. Breath of the Wild for example got downgraded and cannot run at 1080p while docked, something that has been a standard for every other first party Nintendo title.

>Switch will continue getting current-gen games

Not next gen games that require even more vram though. The PS5 is on par with mid range PCs today, how will the Switch compete with that without a better cpu and Nvidia chip?

Cope.

Anime fags are always wrong about everything

It's still getting Just Dance to this very day.

If it had a boost in specs to bring it closer to a base Xbone then it might be able to play current gen titles at native 720p. I feel like it will need to be at least that powerful to be relevant next gen or it wont have any big name third party support whatsoever.

>how will the Switch compete

OMG you're right! How will the GameBoy compete against the SNES and Megadrive?! Doomed I tells ya!

Yeah I'm sure the Switch will sell just fine into nest gen with one good game a year and only pixel art indie ports. It's not like Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma were two of the most popular ports on the system.

>fuck I could go on
Wait... Was this written by the same user who keeps reposting (in every Switch related thread) reasons why is Switch undesirable piece of hadrware?

By the time PS5 is released Switch will have an install base of 60 million. You think its going to get ignored? The Switch is not going to flop. I'm sorry it didn't fail like you desperately wanted it to. You need to obsess over something else

Yup, the very same mentally ill loser.

>By the time PS5 is released Switch will have an install base of 60 million. You think its going to get ignored? The Switch is not going to flop.
It could have the same Wii scenario in which it got a pretty bare ammount of games outside of first-partys. Although the case is that it's a portable console, and the only one in the market now, so...
