Don't play more than 2-3 games at a time. That's the way I go about it and it really works - you have titles to alternate to, so if you don't feel like playing one at the moment, you play one of the others. On the other hand, you're not playing too many at the same time, so you're not getting overwhelmed or breaking the playthrough up for such a long time that it demotivates you from going back into it.

I use Backloggery. Takes a little while to setup at first depending on how big your backlog is but it's helped me over the years.
