I use to see it as a sort of Mad Max without the cars, like there are lots of factions in a dead world, it was dark and dirty, the threats were threatening and not presented as light hearted. NV was a step in the right direction but obviously thats not what they are going forward with.

I honestly think that if they kept the instance based gameplay it wouldve been miles better, like you had to actually make groups to go out into the world and had to communicate with people, you could set hte difficulty for the world etc and if you didnt have people you could take custom NPCs, these NPCs wouldve been dictated and affected by the likes of your personal story and choices, opening and closing questlines based on party members.

It just feels so generic, I actually rather like hte combat in GW2 but the world is fucking lame in lore and presentation of quests and progression.

This man speaks the truth. Fallout 2 might be a good game, but the tonal shift from the first Fallout was massive and it paved way for the future games to be even wackier. It has become a fucking "Pipboy Theme Park (featuring Fallout, The Game)". The first Fallout had its goofy moments too, but it was still a really gritty and dangerous dark world almost completely devoid of positive elements.

Why? It was fucking boring, and had like 10 hours of driving across a pointless open world. Jak 1 was only open enough to fit in all the content, not useless grey buildings scattered around.

2001 and the first three volumes of the manga had better atmosphere and felt more grounded, Alucard felt like a mysterious force of nature rather than the protagonist whilst Seras felt more like a grounded protagonist. Post Volume 3 manga and Ultimate was just garbage and over-the-top to appeal to weebs with Alucard just being the ultimate force and being the main focus. The ending was also the biggest anti-climax I've ever fucking seen, at least 2001 gave us a full-fledged final battle.

The rest of GRW is stealthy enough. There are missions that you can complete without ever being detected or killing anyone. The Splinter Cell crossover mission is one of the very few anti-stealth missions. It literally tells the enemy where you are and instantly respawns new attack helicopters as soon as you shoot one down.

Of course, Ultimate is great for pure action, I can agree. I will say that I do like some of the pure action like Seras turning into a True Vampire and shit like Level 0 Alucard. But the ending was a massive anti-climax (because Hirano is a lazy fuck and he'll probably do the same thing with Drifters) and the plot strayed off way too far from the original goal and felt like it was on ADD. It's fight scenes and animation are top tier though.
Hellsing 2001 is something special, the OST is great and it feels like a great Vampire anime along with Vampire Hunter D. I heard Vampire Wars is similar but I haven't watched it yet.
The reason I am mostly disappointed in Ultimate is because it's pretty clear Hellsing 2001 was supposed to have a second season but it was rushed and then never talked about again, that and the fact that Hirano is a lazy fuck that has good ideas but doesn't execute them correctly because he's too tired to draw.

The gunplay is a strict downgrade from 1 but the game is still worth playing. It doesn't repeat the problem 1 had with repetitive environments and adds grenade cooking. It has a lot more legitimately spooky shit than the first game though, so if you're not looking for horror you might not like it.
3 is irredeemable, nothing is good.
