How do you feel about this level?
How do you feel about this level?
Ugliest castle in the series desu.
>Ugliest castle in the series
Is this trying to prove anything? It looks significantly better than Drangleic.
Sucks like the rest of the game. This game is so fucking trash but I still enjoy it and I have no idea why.
>This game is so fucking trash but I still enjoy it and I have no idea why.
This but unironically.
It was okay
Not nearly as bad as some of the areas in 2 but still felt kind of barren and slapped together. Basically just some randomly assembled hallways and rooms, not much enemy variety, no real sense of the overall structure of the castle from how you progress through it.
The gimmick to open doors were kinda neat and the boss was one of the better ones in the game.
Dark Souls 2 is still a good game, it's just objectively the worst Souls game.
It looks really good from the outside, especially when you first see it looming over you in the rain. It actually gave me a little hope for the game, maybe its like reverse-Dark Souls 1, where the first half is bad and the second half is good but nope, the whole thing was still shit.
This.
>objectively the worst Souls game.
its based af
achieve your dreams
I dunno about that, I have about 1000 hours in all 3 and despite being able to run through them pretty easily. Dark Souls 2 is the only one one that makes me feel genuinely frustrated, which is weird because with the introduction of Lifegems, it becomes the easiest game in the trilogy, more like a hack and slash than a Soulsborne game.
Why do I sometimes completely miss in Dark Souls 2? Did they change something with how quickly you can re-angle yourself after you've started an attack? or is it a deadzone thing?
It's completely nonsensical. You're just going from random weirdly shaped room to random weirdly shaped room fighting enemies from throughout the whole game up until that point, but some things still take forever to get to because the rooms and elevators and ladders are so needlessly long. At least Anor Londo only took like 5 minutes to explore fully.
Yeah it's the deadzones.
Someone post that webm.
What are you missing with specifically? Sometimes rapiers completely whiff , but I can't say I've ever swung a UGS point blank and never hit anyone.
greatsword
sometimes i just end up facing away or like 90 degrees to the right or left
might just be me trying to move too early, and fucking up my bearing
Had some good set pieces from a visual standpoint and the Glass Knight fight was pretty fucking dope, but other than that it was DaS 2 as usual, which means it sucked.
It's not a good game at all, and it's a terrible Souls game. Why do you consider it a good game?
III is better than I and only second to Bloodborne.
Lothric Castle actually looks like a castle though
The interior layout is boring and a massive letdown compared to the imposing exterior.
Most of my playtime is from DS2 out of the soulsborne mainly because the dual wielding was awesome and magic was actually useful when invading compared to DS3. Also there was an actual reward to beating the game with no death or no bonfire.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
Bland castle area, iron keep is better
How do you feel about this level?
Sorry i cant gear you over lightning reindeer fucking my ass
Hear* fuck my life
>greatest hits
yikes desu
Worst area that I've played in any video game ever. Not even exaggerating.
Gave me an aneurysm halfway through. Completely not worth it either, I expected something more than a doubled-reskin.
Good, user. Now destroy them a except for Demon's Souls.
>he never played 4-1
>It's not a good game at all
It's a very good game, but your taste is shit, obviously. Kys.
>Mildred porn
How about this area?
Worst castle of all Souls games.
Dark Souls 2 is so retarded, and that's a good thing
i dont get it
where can i find more?
It baffles me how the same game can have such kino areas like pic or Dragon Aaerie and also N64 Woods and Dungleic Castle.
Didn't they lose most of their work because of an earthquake?
An user posted pics of a WIP Black Gulch and it was absolutely massive compared to what we ended up with
Dunno about any earthquakes, but I've heard the game had developement hell and was scrapped like 3 times.
>unga bunga club
my nigger
it's annoying as fuck to navigate through and that one elevator to the singing lady is obnoxiously long. i like the atmosphere it puts off when you reach the steps to the castle but it immediately goes away the second you start walking up.
Nope,. real reason is because Bamco decided it would be on PS3 and X360 instead after From had already been working on it for a while expecting to target PS4 and XB1
So that means the scale of the game had to be drastically reduced (so a good 75% of the game world was chopped), all of the shaders, lighting and effects had to be downgraded (so all assets made with PBR in mind had to be done using standard shaders and the extra dynamic lighting that many levels were designed around had to be turned off) and what levels were left had to be severely downgraded in visual and content complexity (many levels got severely abridged and almost all were reverted to earlier blockout versions then selectively had a handful of detail parts kitbashed into them, this is why it feels like 90% of the game locales were shipped as a pre-alpha, they basically were)
simply put Bamco is at fault for making them downgrade the game
The tower is literally floating in the air.
Stop reposting this. It's not even you.
Who did you side with?
Current
sided with creighton, killed both
autism
Really annoying and the boss is lazy.
And then they made SOTFS for next-gen anyways.
i still havent fought this boss and never intend to
looks fucking gay
garbage with a ribbon still garbage.
The only incentive I can think of is that beating him makes Vendrick marginally less tedious to kill.
But if you can beat the Ancient Dragon you can beat Vendrick easily, so it's pointless.
Aldia is the best NPC in the entire series.
also for completionists
Demo ran fine on the PS3. It was too early for the next generation. Stop coming up with fake excuses.
Is was therapeutic to go through there with a great big hammer + stone ring and stunlock the bastards to death.
He's up there, but the best is still Sweet Shalquoir
user, how new are you? Show demos rarely ever run on native hardware, they almost always run on PCs
And devs almost always get access to new consoles well before the public is aware of them
It's nowhere near as bad as Yea Forums, /vg/, reddit and resetera made it out to be.
It was absolutely horrible for me, but probably because I kept being invaded by the same blueberry over and over again as I made my way through
Fucking retard. There was a demo you could DOWNOAD to your own PS3.
That was already gutted compared to what was shown at TGS.
Not really, it still featured the better castle layout in the woods of the fallen giants, had pitch black dark sections and had nicer graphics.
It's very short and easy, so nothing. Great boss tough.
>Want to replay game
>Remember THAT part
Post Fashion Souls
Hell yeah! Twin dragonriders are my favourite
aldias keep and forward are those parts
kino
Whaat? Aldia's keep was awesome
Huh, I love Aldia's Keep, except for the ogre gangbang right at the end.
Now Iron Keep...
dark souls 2 is a good game
if shitters weren't still salty over their first playthrough and not knowing what adaptability does it would be seen in better light
/thread
Everything wrong with the game's areas in one neat package
>fucking ugly with an insane amount of graphic errors
>nonsensical level progression
>obviously unfinished
>the whole thing doesn't feel like a place someone ever lived in, be it due to the almost complete lack of windows or the large amount of rooms with no purpose
>seems to exist in its own dimension, disconnected from the rest of the world
>enemies are a random mishmash of everything from what came before it, including a random appearance of the Executioner's Chariot horse for no reason
>Jesus Christ, King's Passage - absolutely NOTHING besides the enemies is finished/works here properly, not even the doors to it, and its only missing some "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" placeholder textures
ominous castle
BROWN
fun and btfo casuals that loved the original dark souls and yes dark souls is casual
I don't care if it's just the forlorn Loadout. Both the weapons and armor are my favorite in Souls.
>Make a character named Forlorn.
>Fuck up the skin to be pitch-black and head as small as possible.
>Invade in areas where Forlorn invades.
>People legitimately think I'm an NPC invader and fight me like one.
It will never not be fun, and it looks cool on top of that.
It's attached to the side of the castle. Are you retarded? Blind? Both?
>From had already been working on it for a while expecting to target PS4 and XB1
gamingbolt.com
>Due to the serious increase in visual fidelity, this prompted the question as to whether Dark Soul 2 could hit next generation consoles or not.
>Tanimura replied that, “The engine was not created with the next generation focus. The development of the first Dark Souls was particularly long, the engine had become obsolete. It is for this reason that we wanted to start from scratch with Dark Souls II to be able to fully express what we wanted. .
>“I know that the next generation consoles are recurring themes this year, but the potential of the Xbox 360 and PS3 has not yet been fully exploited. That’s why our entire focus is on current machines. For the moment, we do not think a port of Dark Souls II or in any other capacity on future machines."
It looks like a fucking lego set.
>hey let's take an old boss and copy paste him like 6 times in the same room lol
>hey let's also make a mid-boss this shitty boss from earlier but two of them haha
DS2 enemy placement in a nutshell. Looking Glass Knight was pretty cool, though.
He clearly lied then since SOTFS was on PS4/Xbone.
4-1 was fucking easy
now 3-2 is a fucking trash
If you want to laugh at something then do it at the placeholder textures there.
I loved the absurdity of the level design, and I loved the overall aesthetics/atmosphere the game provided.
The whole world felt like something I'd experience during a fever dream.
It was a surreal experience, and I fucking loved it, regardless of how shitty it was.
Dare I say, DeS, DS1, & DS2 all had true soul to them.
>He clearly lied then
Nothing new in regards to DS2
ign.com
>You'll never be able to remove the fugly stamina regen effect
Why even live
wow i wasn't aware castles couldn't have square shapes or they would look bad
network test version only had Huntsman's Copse though, FOTFG wasn't in the one that we got to play
More like an ineptly designed Best Lock set where half of the pieces are missing and the ones that are there have flash and moulding errors.
This is still my favorite comparison shot since it neatly shows how like half of the geometry somehow simply went back into an unfinished pre-alpha state between TGS and the release version.
this architecture is a clusterfuck
Oh wow I've never noticed that glaring as fuck seam in the corner before
It's baffling why those pillars at the bottom were removed
nice of you posting the best souls game to date
Next time you're there take your time and check out that short passage in its entirety.
It's absolutely FILLED with errors and unfinished shit, including some placeholder floor textures from Undead Burg in the back, rain that apparently only pours down in the boss arena but nowhere else judging by the windows or the glorious shadow of the level that gets projected on the nearby mountains due to faulty lighting as seen here .
They flat-out said that they had to completely remake Drangleic from the ground up.
From Software, Ubisoft and CDPR are the main reasons why I don't care about E3 demos anymore and consider them prerendered CGI that aims to show the spirit of the game.
Yeah, because what was once supposed to be DC is now the Dragon Shrine.
>what was once supposed to be DC is now the Dragon Shrine.
The interview said that they wanted the castle to feel isolated and dark, so I doubt it. They wanted it to be Vendrick's private retreat that he built far from his kingdom to hide his regrets.
That thing was featured heavilly on the official site but doesn't do anything or have any relevance to anything in the game, I wonder if we'll ever figure out what it was actually meant for
dragonleic castle looks like some retard just randomly slapped shit together with modding tools in the last two days before release. Absolutely embarrassing
Ive seen higher quality maps on fucking garrys mod
>I doubt it
One piece of concept art related to Drangleic Castle in the design works book shows a castle that is more akin to the Dragon Shrine and the intro flat out still uses the Shrine as Drangleic Castle.
It is you who is a fucking trash, and you enjoy the taste and texture of your own vomit
And when you are in Drangleic Castle the game sometimes loads LOD model assets of it that still use the bright textures that look more like as if they belong to the Dragon Shrine.
One area where you can do that is in front of the door to the hall with the Executioner's Chariot horse, next to the platform with the gargoyle on it.
>tfw played the whole way through dark souls 2 with my ex
>still my fav dark souls only because of the memories i had with him
>no cute clothes
>had to wear this the whole game despite the fact it had shitty stats
fume sorcerer set is pretty cute when you can get it
shame about the retarded skeleton of the female models
Why is Dark Souls 2 rated the best Souls game?
>Dare I say, DeS, DS1, & DS2 all had true soul to them.
DS3?
Genuinely soulless. The changes they made to combat fucks it up and turns it from a ds game to a bloodbourne rip off.
Because journos feared the GITGUDSCRUBXD backlash of the rabid fanbase should they have said anything negative about their most anticipated game.
agreed. 3 is fucked
Is there a way to buy digital Prepare to Die?
The level made him stupid.
I remember getting my ass kicked there on my first playthrough. I dunno if the Souls games had quite yet 'clicked' with me by then but the difficultly does ramp up there a bit.
>objectively the worst pvp player
Most underwhelming part of the whole game. Ended up dropping the game right afterwards.
Because you don't have any real aiming/wind up frames in 2.
It's why you also can't hit shit out of a roll and all this also affects NPC invaders and player-sized humanoids.
it looked amazing from outside but when you enter it's a mario 64 level except looks worse
are you retarded?
Shitty and too videogamey in the sense that it's not a believable castle
I feel like nobody has ever told you before, so I'm going to. You're 'that guy' who thinks he sees something, forms a complete idea of how something is/why something is based on your completely fucked info that is wrong in the first place and then proceeds to share this thing with everyone else and doesn't understand when everyone stares at you like an idiot (that you admittedly are). Please, the next time you think you have something everyone needs to know about, just stop, and don't speak.
god I seriously fucking despised the fact that they felt like TURN RATE of all things needed to be limited in dark souls 2. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it in 1.
this isn't monster hunter and I'm not using a fatass greatsword, just let me turn around and hit something
>The development of the first Dark Souls was particularly long, the engine had become obsolete.
lmao they still used it for sekiro and they will keep using it for elden ring probably
I use Drangleic Castle as the layout for my Memory Palace.
Don't you see the fucking stands that are floating in the air? Towers of castles as thick and heavy as that can't be held to the side like that.
Works in Drangleic
inb4 someone says that it gets held up by the tree that clips through it.
what am i looking at
isnt that block is coming out of the tower?
The chambers where the ballsack guys jump out from are literal squares hanging from the outside wall mid air.
Those blocks are the jail cells of that building.
They're simply slapped onto the sides of it and you can see them floating in the air from the outside.
This shit so amateurish that it blows my mind every time I see it.
>DaS2 thread
>someone points out that the game isn't realistic in terms of architecture
right on cue
more like
>someone points out the game is designed like shit
No.
It's always about it being unrealistic.
Not about how it plays.
Look at this this has nothing to do with realism, this has to do with a japanese intern being pressured at 3am to make the whole game level to create interesting level designs.
it plays bad
And that has to do with how it plays?
>low agility
wow sure showed me
now do that with 100+ agility, bet the hitboxes are real shit there
One of the most iconic moments in the franchise
This. I've never seen a more shittier looking castle.
deadzones are tied to agility? what a revolutionary concept!
and the webm I posted is just the usual ds2 hitbox garbage
Only (you) started to talk about game play.
>Game set in abandoned kingdom, probably millions of years old
>Devs correctly show the effects of erosion to the ground level around the architecture
"Waaaaaa they just tacked it onto the side, it's unfinished and a terrible game!!!!"
Grow up.
what am i looking at
some old concept art of the place
Nice made up excuses.
Is that really the best counter-argument you have?
The fight amounts to wailing on his toes for a couple of minutes and occasionally stepping away to avoid the very few attacks that he does.
Do you have any proof why the ONLY place in this game where erosion could be an excuse is actually used here out of design?
Imagine being so emotionally invested in this atrocity, that you look at this clip and go "Yeah, this is the hill I want to die on".
DaS2 was better, less fan service-focused and less pandery than DaS3.
>DaS2
>less fan service
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
>ONLY place in this game where erosion could be
What is Heide's Tower of Flame
he's right though, that guy probably has really low agility
Based King's Ultra Greatsword poster
Virgin retard who couldn't beat blue Smelter Demon
>it's the easist because le lifegems
>slowest estus drinking speed
>1-2 estus in the beginning
>can't get a 100% block shield in the beginning
>rolling is shit without adp
yea sure you retard
That's not erosion, also a totally different kingdom and region more than one hundred miles away from the place you originally were talking about. But somehow you can walk between these two places within five minutes.
when that happens the room collapses and becomes a ruin it doesn't float in the air
Shit tier bait but you got a reply
>couldn't beat copypastaboss
Seething. He's easy.
>the game is shit wank in the beginning
That doesn't make the game hard, that makes the game annoying.
Not counting my other account with more BB characters, PS3 and pirated pc copies
low agility makes teleporting acceptable?
It's Drangleic, their architecture is built to last, why do you think Heide's Tower is still standing? That Drangelic Castle manages to stand up despite being architecturally impossible, that they managed to build Iron Keep on top of Earthern peak? Retard.
Also, they just mirrored one oval half of the building and slapped them together so parts of them clip through each other.
>region more than one hundred miles away from the place you originally were talking about
Big if true
you know what? you're correct
I wish DS2 had a marriage sidequest.
Look from the cliffs of mahoola, retard.
Hey remember Firelink?
Hey remember electric brain bats?
Hey remember Gough?
Hey remember Ornstein?
Hey remember Ornstein again?
Hey remember the black knights?
Hey remember the silver knights?
Hey remember Anor Londo?
Hey remember Gwyndolin?
Hey remember Patches?
Hey remember Darkroot Garden?
Hey remember Ash Lake?
Hey remember Izalith?
Hey remember the Grand Archive?
Hey remember the Kiln of the First Flame?
Hey remember Asylum Demon?
Hey remember Siegmeyer?
Hey remember Artorias?
Hey remember Artorias again?
uh yeah, cause you'll be like why was he able to get me i rolled and then you'll be like what's this agility stat maybe i should raise it
except that was too complicated for most people so they just tied it to weight again, which to me is the more archaic and simpler way to do it but so are the majority of dark souls fans
>It's Drangleic, their architecture is built to last
And to completely block roads in case it colapses into a small pile of rubble.
Why are you quoting Dark Souls II?
>him
faggot
I really want a pirate souls
DS1
>Wow this game is great literally the apex of games I hope the sequel continues the story
DS2
>Wtf is this shit why is everything different I don't like anything, this sucks compared to DS1
>Wtf why are things from DS1 in this game, what are the chances BK weapons, a small collection of rings and the Lord Souls survived and made it to this land this game is full of fanservice
DS3
>WTF WHY DID THEY CONTINUE THE STORY WHILST MAKING NEW LANDS AND CHARACTERS?? COULDN'T THEY TELL WE WANTED SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT?
>What was that? I don't know...like the prototype! It should be like the prototype and have a Demon's Souls reference to Oceiros and have you kill the Primoridal Serpents! This new story is gay I can't be bothered to pay attention to it
it plays like shit too.
Floaty and unresponsive, and with weird hitboxes, unpleasant mechanics and janky, glitchy movement.
DS2 has Ornstein, the Sun covenant and the same basic premise. I might've missed some but 90% of things I've posted aren't in DS2, and all of them are in DS3
same user
>treasure islands
>ghost ships
>underwater cities
>deep ones and elder sea gods
>bottom of maelstrom
>caves
>ship fights
sad they won't ever do this because they would have to implement a ship sailing
>WHILST MAKING NEW LANDS AND CHARACTERS
lmao
Literally everything in the game is pandering to DaS1.
The whole concept. The lord souls' new monsters. There's literally a lord vessel in mahoola. The scorpion lady and his bro being a direct "remember quelaag?” quest, etc. The whole game is a shitty fanfic.
The same, but to a much larger extent applies to DS3 so my point still stands. I don't disagree with you, I hated DS2 when it first came out, but after playing Sotfs after DS3 I found it very refreshing.
>High Wall
>Lothric Castle
>Settlement
>Irithyll
>Carthus
>Archdragon
>Ringed City
>Not new
yeah forgot how the firekeeper was constantly interacting with the chosen undead and visiting them on their journey like the emerald herald
and all the times the chosen undead had to pay NPCs to open up secret paths for them
and all the poison spitting statues and the talking rats and the complete lack of a poison swamp which dark souls 1 and 3 definitely didn't have either
oh yeah and starting the game off with a thorough tutorial instead of a boss fight was totally ripping off dark souls 1
yeah so many things dark souls 2 just couldn't help but pander to
No one wanted sequels. Everyone wanted spiritual successors.
>all of the original ideas DaS2 had are bad: the post
pate's a liar, creighton is a murderer.
creighton is the correct choice
DS2 was a spiritual successor except in name. There's almost nothing linking it to DS1 except
>Estus
>Undead (which is not unique to Souls)
>Like, 10 or so weapons and armour sets
>The Lord Souls as a bonus meta item you get in NG+
And people went apeshit that it was "pandering" and they would rather have a continuation of the STORY of DS1 and not nostalgia.
So then DS3 continued the STORY and had almost everything else be completely new or a throwback to Demon's Souls, everyone's apparently favourite game, and they think it sucks.
I got World of Goo for free because I helped someone through it.
i mean it just sounds like you dont like the game, you dont like it when they re use ideas and you dont like the ones they made up, why are you even in this thread?
i loved dark souls 2 and im playing it again and im just here to let you know that believeing dark souls 2 is as pandering to dark souls 1 as dark souls 3 is some serious brain dead logic
if anything dark souls 2 is closest to demon souls but i doubt you've played any of them anyway based off your erroneous view on the matter, which you are entitled to and brings me back to my point, why are you even in this thread?
Yeah, but is Bloodborne any good or just a consolewar shitpost device?
DaS2 is literally a continuation of the story. And it ducking sucks. 3 made arguably the best choices to get it back up to track fucking end that shitshow.
I'd argue that some of those are retreads, at least in part, of some of the areas from previous games but I digress. The Ringed City and Archdragon Peak were cool, if a bit small.
This desu. DS1 is a nice self-contained story and this retreading of plot points and concepts cheapens it.
by the thumbnail i though it was a breast comparison chart form the side
I like the concept and visuals but respawning reindeer can fuck off. If you don't kill one fast enough and another spawns you're dead.
>having to wait for an npc to speak its dialogue EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME that you want to level up
Isn't actually original to 2, but to DeS, also isn't fun.
>shit being blocked by fucking fragrant branches of yore instead of special mechanisms, bosses or doors you have to loop around to
Not fun.
>poison spitting statues that literally stun lock you and make you stop moving
Not fun either.
>shitty tutorial with stones instead of an area that actually teaches you by playing the game regularly and making progress
Still not fun. Good thing you can completely ignore it though. Hate the mandatory walk to mahoola then.
I don't think it's just me, but the game is a drag.
If you've played the other Dark Souls games, it will be pretty underwhelming. Had you played Bloodborne first, I'm sure it would be great.
>DS3 continued the STORY
>When the whole story of DS3 is literally just the second half of dark souls, including going back to the Kiln and killing Gwyn again
>Ending is literally just either linking the flame again or not
Meh I'll say that DaS3 had some nice ideas. Seeing the son of Gwyn, what happened to Gwynevere, the fate of Anor Londo to a certain extent, but then the game is flooded with fucking fanservice and pandering that didn't even need to exist. I honestly think that the story of DaS3 is the weaker part of the game, even if better than 2. And don't get me started on the DLCs because those were a fucking travesty.
I've played them all on PC with patches and light graphic tweaks.
Is Demon's Souls worth buying a PS3 for?
official servers are dead iirc
>shindol
>>Ending is literally just either linking the flame again or not
Retard?
don't listen to him I played ds1 and 2 before bloodborne and I loved it even more than than the first dark souls despite liking dark fantasy more than victorian era
it's entirely subjective wich one you like the most but bloodborne is definitely a good game regardless
I just realized the "memories" are relics of the supposed time travel mechanic. It kills me to wonder what DaS2 could have been given enough time.
The memory versions of FotFG are apparently also a later iteration of the map that was made before the rollback.
What rollback? Before the complete restructuring of the game, or the rollback between the demo with the great lighting and the final game?
It's literally circle strafe to his side.
Will do a NG+99 run, bois. Wish me luck.
>not just baiting him off the ledge
baka
I did that already on my first run (currently on my 2nd). Gotta spice things up by not doing the same thing every time.
>Ending is literally just either linking the flame again or not
lolwat
You didn't play it, did you user?
The latter and judging by the TGS videos even that one had its share of graphical issues that they didn't fix like the missing bottoms of the ceiling arches or the lack of rain outside the windows.
I'm not even sure anymore how many versions of the game there were.
Like, from when were all those old maps that were found in the DLC data?
