I also think that it's massively flooded with checks every millisecond that it has to do, that end up making things more at the speed of ass due to just sheer I/O bottle necking. Minecraft has, historically, always just performed better with higher-clocked CPUs, versus higher IPC/core count devices.

Minecraft and retards spouting Java has made me believe Java to be a slow for years but the reality is just that Minecraft is poorly programmed and there generally isn't any good game engine available that supports java so Notch couldn't use crutches.
