Post some really fucked up gay levels, I want to feel my anus raped
Christopher Sanchez
I like it. It took me a few tries cause I'm a dumbass and kept missing the last jump but good job. I like that you took a gimmicky concept and made it challenging but not bullshit. Doesnt overstay its welcome either. Have a heart.
Tyler Hughes
Standard classic SMB feel, NSMBU style. Tough but fair simple castle level.

Jeremiah Evans
havent seen something like this before. good shit user
Anthony Gomez
Thanks anons. Anything I could do better you think?
Easton Sanders
I like it. Nothing amazing but standard-like challenging levels are something we always need more of and yours is a good one. I found that star at the end and the effect you put on it scared the shit out of me, I thought my game was crashing haha. Good stuff, I left a like.
Nothing in particular honestly other than tiny nitpicks. Like I think the last jump is maybe a tiny bit leap-of-faithy, but just barely and its such a non-issue I wouldnt bother with it. If youre interested I think you should make a sequel level though, and maybe make this one longer with a checkpoint if you think you can get more mileage out of the idea.

A Shell of a Ride: WSM-77G-R2G
A short speedrun(ish) level where you have to use the shells to cross the spikes. Only have 30 seconds to make it to the goal.
Josiah Carter
Sawmill Castle: CNF-5QH-QXF Fairly easy/short level where you are racing saw blades.
Bowser Jr. Airship: CBV-JP4-0WG A pretty straight-foward airship level.
4 Player Vertical Race: C51-RGC-QWG This level was meant mostly for multiplayer vs. but it still works fine as a normal level to do on your own.
Don't go right: 434-VTS-YQG Level with easy platforming on the left and harder on the right. I have an extra room if someone is looking for a bit more of a challenge at the end.
Aviation Devastation: PNN-LDN-8JG My most played stage at the moment not particularly the best but you get to shoot some stuff with the fire clown car.
Ayden Johnson
My child woke me up at three in the morning, so I may as well post while I'm up. I always play through some levels, especially if you happen to play mine, but it'll be a while. Need to get back to sleep and have a full work day ahead.
Anyway, I have ten stages. Here are three:
Soles of the Departed C80-VJX-WJG The first of a trilogy with goomba shoes in perilous situations.
Defeat the Fleet 8D1-MTQ-HJG Airship night level with bombs and a (hopefully) fun albeit fairly easy Bowser fight.
Sole Sacrifice BB2-DMK-LJG To reach new heights demands sacrifice. Another shoe level among castles in a starry sky.
Leo Anderson
>playing Endless on each of the difficulties >expected to see levels full of the multi-coins everywhere >so far people have used them sparingly and appropriately >haven't seen enemy spam >no lakitu spam either >no corridor-filled-with-starmen-and-8-Bowsers levels >not a single DON'T MOVE level Did Nintendo develop an algorithm to kill these or has the player base matured
YBR C28 2FG Banjo Kazooie level, which is based on the world Mad Monster Mansion. You have to collect the ten multicoins while revisiting various places like the church, the maze in the garden the dining room of the mansion and more.
TH4 VC9 3JF This one is a comfy snow level based on the Banjo Kazooie world Freezeezy Peak. The jiggies are again multicoinsand you have to find all ten to finish the level.
S8K XV3 MYG Based on stephen kings IT. It takes place in the last chapter of the novel where you confront pennywise in the sewers. It has some platforming and an abstract kind of boss.
KHD CND VXF This level is manly vertical and you get chased by rising lava. It contains fast platforming, some puzzle segments and a bone boat ride.
What challenges do you face in creating auto-scroller levels? What is your favorite part of making them?

Cameron Ross
>play super expert >get a normal looking stage >play for 1-2 mins, everything seems fine, just about normal difficulty at best, comfy normal level jumping some koopas and goombas >start to get nervous thinking there must be a reason it's super expert >boss room is multiple bowsers, lakitus above, spikes and saws on tracks
>want to make vertical level where you fall from the top and can't touch the ground, and you use twisters to break your fall >twisters don't get loaded fast enough to actually work by the time you get to them fug
Wyatt Nelson
Twisters are unfun anyway Make it claws instead
Nolan Myers
Bit Crusade 3 is an adventure series of Mario levels that play in the traditional sense (scaling difficulty, hidden rooms and level theming). So if you like traditional Mario stages you’ll probably like these. The “game” will eventually utilize all 5 styles so there’s a little something for everyone. Every stage has five red coins hidden within that unlock an optional mega bonus room at the end.
Starting Point: 1-1: Start of a New Journey V61-WT5-DPG
Current Stage: NEW! 4-2: Coral Reef Capers 7QC-HG2-4KF Leaving the caves behind him, Mario gets his mustache wet and swims for the surface, but who knows what lies above? Loved makin this one it scratched muh water level itch.
For maximum immersion I recommend listening to this while you play it
Feedback is appreciated and returned. If you got a really good level I’ll likely make a short webm of it to showcase it. If you decide to take the plunge and play them I hope you enjoy them. If you complete everything up to the current stage let me know and I'll play all your levels if I haven't already
Try using the night theme or whichever one it is with low gravity and slow falling, or use wigglers on tracks instead of twisters.
Carter Ramirez
Oh, those are great ideas. Thanks!

*NEW LEVEL** >Dancing Desert Flowers PCB-1K7-KLG Traditional level with a buttload of secrets.
Old levels: >Red-Hot Castle Rush LJ1-75M-Y7G Kind of a speedrun level, but not really.
>Perfect Luigi Blossom NWX-G9Y-FSF Normal difficulty bullet hell.
I liked everything but the lava lift part. The hardest, gayest level I've play as of late was this: GS4-8BH-6YF The best usage I've seen of twisters so far is stages where you have to utilize vines to not get tossed by them. I think I want to make a stage like that later.
I'm like 90% sure its possible to skip half the stage by using a spring and air stalling with ground pound, but no one has done it yet. A sub-40 time should be reachable, though.
Cameron Wilson
What are some enemies that can kill other enemies?
Grayson Miller
What's the best addition to Mario Maker 2 and why is it the M64 slide theme?
Eli Brown
Thwomps can with ease. If you put a Bill Blaster on a track that moves horizontally they can smush enemies up against a wall. Bomb-ombs work pretty good too.
Oooh, i like the idea of using the regular blocks on mushrooms to make brown mushrooms in this tileset!
Ryan Campbell
shilling again as I slowly make more levels,. I've been working on a castle level for 2-4 as well as a big standalone level that involves music. I hope to release them soon back-to-back.
2-3 Sunstroke >GQW-4BH-Y0G Newest course in my "SMB1.5" series, this involves the Angry Sun swooping around activating bob-ombs around you as you chase to the skies. Contains 3 optional big coins you can try and get for extra challenge

Bombs when they detonate, munchers detonate bombs when they fall on them. Beatles and spineys that climb on the ceiling turn into sliding shells when they fall and can wipe out enemies or trigger switch blocks that kill if an enemy is on the same space as a dotted line block when it goes solid.
Other than that -and stretching the definition of enemies a bit- blocks on tracks or flying blocks can crush enemies, and rising lava can also kill them.
David Young

>I tried this too, but try as I might I couldn't do it. I guess 'just' is a bit misleading, trying to reproduce it legit and its very hard.
Andrew Campbell
I liked it, very calm and easy stage. Thanks for playing mine too, I did the Aquatic Ruin Zone one
Hey everyone, finally gotten around to uploading something again.
It's a rather unusual stage. You don't play as Mario, Luigi, Toad or Toadette. Instead, you are now Moley Moleson the mole and you want to visit your mole grandparents on this nice Sunday.
I'll definitely give it a few more tries Really liked this level

An autoscroll that isn't really an autoscroll but is still an autoscroll? Try to work with the wall trying to crush you while also not letting it crush you.
Don't let your mole nan down now, she's already baked you a nice mole pie!
Isaiah Parker
I have to go back to work, maybe later. Is it even possible to make it through without just straight up gunning it at exactly the right time? The swerve seems like too much to course correct and idk if something like that was a good idea for an auto-scroller.
Logan Turner
It's very possible. In fact, you can even rescue the mole if it got picked up if you are fast enough to get right under the claw again. Thank you for the attempts so far at any rate!
Caleb Sanders
gonna have to keep that in mind when making levels now, that's kinda broken
Bentley Sanchez
Oh alright. Well maybe I'll give it a shot later.

Question
Should I remake a mid-late game level from a mario game to see if how many people can complete it?
Jack Ramirez
Sure, but only if you can 100% recreate it. Would be interesting.
Ethan Collins
Sounds boring and the physics won't be the same anyways. I really don't know what you're trying to prove. If you thinks its the players, its not, sorry. Make better levels.
I've had my maker points and level clear rates tank when my levels hit popular
Caleb Williams
Should I cut the subworld entirely? I'm trying to make a multiplayer versus level, but I feel like this goes on too long. It takes me over 2 minutes to finish even though I know what I'm doing. I imagine it would take the average person 3-4+ minutes to beat it. Not to mention, the vertical section seems like it would be much more frustrating than the horizontal, since you can lose progress.
>literally zero interaction between players may as well just be playing single player
Brody Campbell
Maybe don't cut it out but shorten it a bit? I feel like many of your obstacles "go on for too long". The magic number is often 3. If someone has already done 3 [thing] in a row they've proven to have beaten that and can move onto the next obstacle. You could probably shorten it at quite a few spots throughout the whole stage and aim for it to take about 1 minute for you as the creator.
Otherwise looks cool though, I actually like these kind of vs levels a lot more than "lol one dude waits at the door while others fight some shitty bowser"
William Perez

Pretty good, just saw it in my followed creators list by chance before you posted so I got the ez first clear.
Also if people like your ice blocks but hate mine they will all be outed as HYPOCRITICAL! Just kidding, good stuff, I'm sure the hidden block and mushroom duck-jump sections will make some people slow down hard and have others catch up. Really dig your start up too, complete with the race countdown sound and all.
Yeah that's unfortunate. I would have given it a like, but no mole no like. I wish I could do anything about it, but them's the rules...

Tfw too much of a brainlet to make a compelling boss fight based on the theme/mechanics of the stage
I've been racking my brain for literal hours, scrapping and remaking the boss fight. So disappointed atm

That's what i hoped for. There is a checkpoint though so don't give up

Just finished making this >Tomb of the Great King Bob-omb P7B-V3B-C1G A series of puzzles based around on/off switches and bob-ombs.
Logan Evans
I really enjoyed mario maker 1 back in the day, and my levels got some likes. Now with mario maker 2 it seems like no one even gets to play my levels. Has anyone made similar experiences? I know my levels aren't mind blowing, but it's a bit underwhelming to be honest. Maybe it's because I got it too late, a month after release.
Here's a level of mine: Bob-Omb's Bomb Factory. MV6-KBC-QKG
I will also lurk here for the next 30-45 minutes, if you post something good I'll check it out.
I've never made groundbreaking stages in either game, nor do I make them frequently enough, so I'm not shocked that not many people play/like my stages. I hope to at the very least make a lot more stages than I did for the first game
Ethan Johnson
It's part 3 of a world that's been building up to this moment.
The boss has to be a rocky wrench, the boss fight has to be mining/crane themed, and bob-ombs would be ideal. I have too many restrictions, so it's difficult to make something good
Jacob Cook
Ok here you go
>big rocky wrench with lots of small rocky wrenches on top in a small crevice >bombs come out of pipes for you to lob over there like a basketball and blow his stack up until you kill the big guy at the bottom
Austin Harris
Shilling my levels (number of * determines the difficulty):
**Lift me up KT2-MSG-1FG A don't-touch-the-ground level centered around lifts, where you move from lift to lift and avoid spikes and cannonballs to get to the goal. True ending for the braves. Might be too long
**Memories in the Dark M0W-G89-2NG A series of platforming sections, but you have to play each section twice: once at day time and one in the dark! Red coins are optional
*The moles' trap KPG-DRC-DGG Seems like a simple platforming level but something happens. (unless you cheese it and skip most of the level)
***Clawin' around NMJ-GT2-2CG Hard and long 'don't touch the ground' course with claws
**The trials of Mario LQB-2RN-RVF 6 rooms where you use a powerup to get to the exit
***Buzzy Shell Ridin' 879-GL8-56G Long-ish course all about riding buzzy beetle shells
**Advanced climbing DPH-2BC-GHG Short but needs a lot of precision, one mistake will lose you a bunch of progress
****Hop Step Jump! 06J-9N0-VPG Very hard, bounce on the enemies without touching the ground
*The metal colossus LML-WF3-KTG Easy themed level, climb the giant robot's body and disable its engine
Please try some and leave feedback. My Switch is currently charging but as soon as it's ready I'll play some of your levels back. I enjoy leaving drawings as comments to level I liked so I hope to get some good levels.
I just played it. Don't have much feedback. Just want to let you know that I liked it.
Liam Gutierrez
I played them all, and they're pretty nice. Short, standard Mario-ish courses. Bob-Omb's Bomb Factory was my favorite of the bunch.
Jacob Martinez
Lets just move to /vg/ at this point
Jaxon Miller
If you were actually a Mario Maker player you wouldn't say this. The threads always die on /vg/ within half an hour if even. They are barely alive here as is you clown.
Caleb James
I feel like that is so tricky to do that anyone that does it deserves to make it through.
Alexander Bell
I don't know, there were a few /vg/ threads at release. Seems like BS to me. Why would a thread this active die on /vg/?
Mason Diaz
No there weren't. The only time it was on /vg/ was when some overzealous mod moved them there. Then they died within half an hour.
I'm this guy and just played a few levels in this thread.
I played advanced climbing. It was a wise idea to make it as short as it is, otherwise it would have gotten frustrating. Liked it.
Really enjoyed this one. I like clasic levels with a twist. I will keep an eye on your future uploads.
Thank you very much. Do you have some level of yours that I could try out in return? Otherwise I'll just check out your profile.
The level itself was fun, I just feel like the boss was a bit spammy with the lakitu and the canons. Still gave you a like of course.
Anthony Perry
The threads would last longer and atleast we will survive. These threads arent even reaching bump limit now and are dying within an hour.
Austin Gutierrez
Consider thyself dabbed on, old man
the only thing missing from this webm is actually a straight jump (no danger) from the door in part 1 into the box here, so this is pretty much the full level
Still sounds like BS. There is no good reason why moving this to /vg/ would make it move slower than it is right now.
Colton Foster
No new people coming in would be bad.
Joseph Miller
How would it make it move faster? by having the same 2-3 people bump it every hour? wow very useful.
Matthew Brooks
It wouldn't move faster, it would last longer.
Kayden Bennett
The problem is that most threads on /vg/ can survive on just the avatar posting waifu guys posting thousands of pics of their waifus or other shit like that, or they ask questions or discuss something
We don't have that really.
Hunter Cox
and what would be the point of that? so the same people can post in it forever until they start chatting with each other about offtopic shit like in every other general?
Aaron Garcia
Imagine.
Jeremiah Sanders

>user posts level asking for feedback and plays >check it out >has already hundreds of plays and tens of likes and comments fuck right off with this shit, these threads should be to kickstart your levels so they get in endless or to actually get feedback so you can improve as a maker, not to shill your already popular stuff yes I'm jelly and seething because my levels don't get many plays
Brody Young
The current thread has been up for 15 hours Just stick to having threads in the evening-ish euro time and let them die in the late hours when people sleep or focus on Yea Forumseekend stuff, then people have more things to post too
idk man
Jaxon Howard
see these threads aren't supported by regulars alone, as there's only a handful of them, they thrive from new random anons showing up each threads - you don't get that from /vg/ As other anons mentioned, the threads were briefly on /vg/ and died very quickly on there. In fact, numerous threads were made on /vg/ and they barely got any traffic sincethe people that browse mario maker threads don't visit that board.
Samuel Sanchez
the threads are for level sharing. I don't care how many plays /likes a level has that i'm playing.
Jason White
Yes exactly. Let's make a discord channel! and a subreddit! let's add each other as friends on facebook and twitter! We have no need for a community. We need new people, not the same 10-15 makers playing each other's levels and jerking each other off forever.
Matthew Green
>generals would be shit because it would become a circlejerk with offtopic posting >yeah well these threads are already that! if we had a general, we would have this but for even longer! how is that a good thing
Thomas Bennett
Post your levels user, ill play them and give you my opinion
Andrew Myers
>We don't need a community >We need to add people to our community! Shit user says
My bad, you're right. We need a community, not a "community" which is actually a circlejerk. All generals on /vg/ are 90% the same few autismos who post in every thread and 10% tourists who post there a couple of times then fuck off. And we can have that here too. So again, what's the point of a general?
Easton Ward
I don't know what your bias is against generals, but I can see you are just going to spaz out about it. I don't really care enough, I'll just drop off some levels and leave, since this thread is only here like 30% of the time.
Noah Nelson
>I don't know what your bias is against generals, I've been in several, unlike you.
Leo Lee
>unlike you What makes a person even make a claim like this?
Jacob Edwards
>I'll just drop off some levels and leave you just summed up why these threads wouldn't fit on /vg/ at all, as this is how most anons post in these threads - they dump levels, maybe hang around briefly to play and provide feedback, then fuck off until the next day. Along with the reduction in traffic, this is why mario maker threads don't survive on /vg/
Ryder Stewart
Thanks a lot, that's a cool approach. Hope the rest of your workday goes by fast for you. Do you want me to take a look at one of your levels too?
Don't want to shill too hard, but I'm this guy and it would be cool if at least a few people would look at my level.
Austin Bennett
For some reason this level is two weeks old, and still only has 3 plays. I don't consider it particularly hard, the torture-like theme may be throwing off the few people who get it.
The Young Doctor's Lab Puzzle-solving 79L-6BT-FKG
Jack Lee
Thanks user, I didn't mean for the Lakitu to become part of the boss fight so I'll definitely keep that in mind when making future stages with bosses in them. Cannons are only there in reference to the original boss from the stage
Liam Hall
>Puzzle-solving There's your answer
Jason Flores
Played it buddy, cute level and a breath of fresh air from the grueling super expert levels. Lemme world record that
James Price

Ayden Garcia
Yeah sorry I decided to take it down to make the claw section easier, I saw what kind of clear rate I was heading for with the level and it's not what I wanted for this happy merry kind of thing. Will reupload in a few mins.
Charles Nelson
Don't want to be too harsh, but I didn't like it. You had some good ideas though. But the fact that you can't see much plus the fact that there's a lot of trial and error involved made it frustrating. I gave up after the bowser jr. Part. Don't give up though, just try to make your levels a bit more accesible in the future.
Kevin Myers
If ya got the time, then sure! All my stuff is this here. I don’t expect you to play them all but if you feel inclined to they are best experienced sequentially. Hope ya like em, and trust me I hope the day goes fast too it’s hot as fuck in this kitchen.

Uploaded this last night but don't see any plays, just a load of deaths. Honest opinions appreciated and all that.
MD7-W7N-95G Not gonna lie, this stage is kinda bullshit.
Blake Cook
Saying you don't like it ain't harsh. I understand what you mean. The idea was to use the focused light to make you have to actually look around, but screen locking the rooms so it wasn't like you would have to worry about accidentally death-jumping into something. I'll work on it though, thanks.
Jackson Wood
Hey man can you review my level and tell me what you think? I know it’s hard but is there any place you don’t know what to do?

Juan Peterson
I beat and I liked it, but I’m into puzzle solving and actually like the lights out theme when it’s done right. The majority of people don’t like puzzles, darkness, slow progression and lack of music, and all those together won’t get you many likes if popularity is what you’re going for.
That said, I liked the use of the fire flower to sniff out the right path through the saws, but I had no use for the spring. I feel like I missed something as I saw the Bowser jr area but never got to it, so I assume I took another path?
Landon Reyes
I am currently working on my own Game. I just released World 1 in SMB World 2 will be SMB 3, World 3 will be SMW and so on.
I'm sorry, I can't even make it through the first obstacle. The space you need to jump through is quite small. Hopefully some other user that's better at this can give it a try.
Blake Jones
Just got this now. Then I remembered my sticks had DRIFT SHIT.
How's map maping on docked? Is it possible? Does anyone here do maps on docked?
Dylan Thomas
I've made almost 20 levels, all docked. It's comfy and works well, especially if you make use of the zoom out, the multi grab and copy.
Carter Moore
Just uploaded this quick but tough speedrun focused on goomba shoes. Please give it a try. YHD-278-SBG
Blake Ortiz
Reupload. Made the claw section easier, touched up the thwomp section a bit and included a reset door at the end that brings you back the start for the unlikely case something goes horribly wrong.
Either way, it should be much easier now and much closer to the kind of "comfy" and "nice" atmosphere I wanted for this level. Please do give it a try.

So far it's a bunch of hard, precise platforming back to back, with a lot of opportunities to mess up without it really feeling like your fault. The bottom conveyer thwomp jump and the bottom coin maze thwomp jump killed me a shit ton even though I knew what to do. I've been playing for ~45 minutes and just reached the checkpoint. I kinda suck though.
Jaxson Walker
Gonna try making something new as I've been suffering from builder's block, but if you reply with some feedback on one of my old stages, I'll play something of yours.
>Four Boom Booms of Power: 831-FW0-THG A stage designed similar to Megaman boss rematch stages, take out the 4 Elemental Boom Booms for the key coins to the finish. Designed so that if you beat a boom boom and grab the coin, you don't have to fight that boom boom again.
>Journey through Twilight Tundra- LVL-K12-9LF Simple nighttime ice stage with some alternate routes and bonuses.
Owen Rodriguez
Just realized I already played it. Played it again anyway, it's fun!
Lincoln Perez
1-1 Goomba Hills It was a little on the easy side. Are you planning to progressively up the difficulty of the newer levels over time?
1-2 Sun Temple I like the use of stacked Goombas in place of pokeys
1-4 Boom Booms Fortress I learned new things today; in the night theme ghosts come at you when you face them and stop when you look away, and holy crap those are some looooonng chain chomps.
1-5 Drybone Castle Aesthetically you don’t need whole lines of coins to mark where the potabos come out, just a few would suffice and would look cleaner. The only part I really didn’t like was the slow snake block section, i just waited for on the last platform to hop back on to progress.
All in all it was a good experience.
Eli Lopez

Jaxson Jenkins
Both were fun, but I particularly liked the elemental themed boss fights. Makes me wish we could get a palette editor for enemies and terrain, and also reminds me we need the Ice Flower power up.
Nathan Morales
Yeah I tried to keep World one easy, but not to tutorial-esque
Ghost Rings start moving at night btw. Also the Thwoomps start chasing you slowly
I didn't design them with speedrun in mind. Still nice to know that at least half of them work.
Julian Morales
Thanks for the feedback user and yeah I see just from replaying that Thwomp in the coin part is bullshit. Its inclusion was a bit of an afterthought, sorry bout that.
Nice one that you made it to the checkpoint though, you're almost there!
Logan Myers
I ain't really much of a speedrunner anyway, but I do feel there's a correlation between how well designed a level is and how satisfying it is to speedrun it. Icicle Cavern for example wasn't great when I played it normally, and I barely even bothered speedrunning it as it got plain annoying in the end. Enemy placements were awkward in that level imo.
Camden Ortiz
Hey how about we put all our names in a hat and each person picks a name and you have to make a level thats the style and feel of that persons level. Obviously this is only for the regulars here.
Wyatt Anderson
sounds pretty reddit, no thanks.

Fun course, that "S" curve with the Kamek was really creative/interesting.
Joshua Rivera
Both Milly and Zankioh have a big problem with telegraphing difficulty in my opinion. A normal course starts with introducing easy mechanics and then builds on them throughout the course. Their courses do the same thing, but crank things up to fucking 11 out of nowhere right at the end. I don't even think Milly's courses are that hard compared to what else gets posted here, but sometimes the pacing is awful.
Like if a normal course starts at a 1 and works its way up to a 4, a hard course should start at a 6 and work its way up to a 10, you shouldn't go from 1 to 3 to holy fuck. Look at star world courses in Mario games, the pacing is totally different from normal levels. I'm pretty sure this isn't intentional, but the message I get from levels like this is "I bet you thought you were in control, well time to get fucked kiddo."
Which of my levels is like that? I actually feel like all the ones where such a critique could apply do kind of go up in difficulty in increments, from introducing the gimmick/main theme to building on it and such.
Jacob Russell
Are you Milly or Zankioh?
Gabriel Hughes
Don't need a mountain of feedback to be satisfied. Really happy you guys liked it. Thanks for playing!
Wyatt Lopez
zankioh. Just curious because I want to improve too. I mean obviously you're not talking about meme stages like Longest Jump or Sawblade Trio.

Well, there was that low grav spin jump course where 95% of it was so easy a 5 year old could do it, then right at the end you have a part where you have to chain spin jumps on a series bombs not only precisely, but also know exactly when to switch from short to long jump because you have barely enough time to make it to the next bomb. And even this would not be a big deal, but if you you do fuck up, you have to sit through that super long spiny track just to try it again. (and if you aren't paying attention during that and fuck up, fall through like half the course before you can kill yourself and start over from the check point)
While it wasn't a particularly difficult course, you have to consider that just one little, tiny section probably made your clearance rate go from 30% to 5%.
Julian Hill
Play story mode for stage ideas and play user stages as well, maybe look up guides to learn some of the mechanics
Landon Morales
My kids love this game.
Cameron Wood
Fair enough. I thought that the vertical bomb spinning before that with no death if you fall and a reset door would be good introduction to the concept of spinning on bombs and then doing a big spin jump away from them. Didn't have the feeling the level had a sudden huge spike in difficulty I guess.
In retrospect I should have actually put cp1 right at the beginning of the sub area and cp2 right after it, totally agree with that.
Andrew Kelly

Video on difficulty by a pretty faggy youtuber, but probably worth a watch if you really are interested: youtu.be/p9NdAao9y_4 It even covers how to design parts you have to replay to get to harder parts of the stage.
Something worth considering: The reset door parts aren't really challenging at all compared to the final part, even if the mechanic is similar. I would have put a single horizontal bomb jump right at a checkpoint before that part maybe and have it lead into the bigger one.
You're making it sound like it goes from auto mario to kaizo. I don't quite see why the horizontal bomb spins are so vastly more difficult than the vertical ones, I think that might a pretty subjective thing that not everyone would concur with. But an extra small horizontal bob omb spin and a move of the cp2 to the final section would be a positive, I agree.

Bentley Lewis
>You're making it sound like it goes from auto mario to kaizo. I'm not trying to. >I don't quite see why the horizontal bomb spins are so vastly more difficult than the vertical ones Because the horizontal ones kill you if you mess up and there are three in a row. That's literally it.... But its a pretty significant beat to miss. Like I said, all you really need is one horizontal jump at the final CP before the challenge to telegraph and teach that final jump efficiently with minimal frustration, and you can even have that jump have a death penalty without pissing too many people off since it is right at the CP and quick.

To be clear I am and I think Milly courses are great, just meming how some of his courses are tough. No idea who this spaz is Cool concept, and fun to play. The spiney spam become a bit obnoxious by the end because it was white spikes on a baby blue background with a visual wave effect. Maybe there's a way to mitigate that like using more of the dark blue cloud semisolid?
Also QUESTION FOR E-CELEBS - I think I have a new course done that could be my "Tanooki Baseball" breakout. Should I publish now or wait until the weekend so it can get more players?
Julian Thompson
>his
Wyatt Allen
It's not the obstacle itself so much as the consequence for failing it. The first time I played that segment, I died because I couldn't see the next bob-omb by the time I got to my last jump, and because I didn't hold the jump button I died and had to grind through that slow spiny section again. Instead of starting off over a death pit, you could have put the first one above a floor, so that you needed to spin jump off the bob-omb to get over a tall wall or something. That way, players would have a non-lethal introduction to it. After that, you could put the other two jumps as normal.
Justin Russell
>thinking you could so easily become one of the most famous mario maker e-celebs like Tanooki Man

>Should I publish now or wait until the weekend so it can get more players? An user here said he was composing the mission impossible theme for one of his levels earlier. Is this it? Either way, you may want to sleep on it. You may think of some way to improve it over night. Also, you don't want Japanese children to be the first ones to play it, do you?
Jordan Edwards
Yeah, that's fair. I'll try to give people more "safety net" obstacle introductions in the future.
Lucas Campbell
Damn these are pretty good, they feel like traditional levels but you seem like you put a nice twist on pretty much every one of them. Only played the first world but I really liked the pond and the train stages, even though the boom boom was pretty easy to kill.
Jeremiah Ross
>An user here said he was composing the mission impossible theme for one of his levels earlier. Is this it? nah I'm mission impossible user and that post was not mine. I am still working on the mission impossible level but it won't be done any time soon I think. Getting music to work in a vertical section was a pain and required somewhat fancy tech to get it to play on a loop on demand. I'm also still tinkering around with level design ideas, stuff that makes you feel stealthy ya know?
Wyatt Taylor
someone else makes hard levels?
Camden Young
There are plenty of people here with hard levels
Joseph Wood
>composing music in a vertical level Absolute mad lad
Jack Wright
Who here makes actually fun levels? And by fun I mean stages that feel like actual Mario courses.
James Cook
if the Yea Forums collab is anything to go by, Zank's courses are tedious, not difficult.
I'll agree on people giving certain regulars a pass if their stages are tough whereas they boo everyone else's
Jaxon Collins
My last couple of courses had a similar clearance rate to theirs but no one gives me real feedback.
yeah...I basically had to squeeze a contraption of noteblocks on tracks into the top screen (since I found out recently that the top screen of a vertical section generally keeps things loaded), then carefully rig it so it only activates after you trigger an ON/OFF switch a little further down.
Good news is that the music works, although tempo is very slightly off I don't think most people would care. There's still lots more to do as I don't want it to just be about the music gimmicks, it will be a proper full level in itself.

abloobloobloo muh ice block stage was creative and not shitty
Bentley Hill
I didn't say it was creative. I said you suck at video games if it gives you this much trouble. Which is pretty much fact. I can literally get through it every single time. There's a reason I did it AFTER other sections when going for my world record. Because I can consistently do it.

William Bennett
hopefully these threads don't die out before I complete it
Joshua Bell
Its harder to look at your course and say you need to do X because a lot of the older ones are not designed like Mario levels at all. The newer ones however are and I think they do have some issues. Duneworms, Temple of the North, that boss rush, and Razorblade Garden all have massive difficulty spikes. The Garden level is pretty consistent and one of my favorites, only thing I don't think I would have done is have the first Z jump section on moving enemies. I've been noticing you use that whole "ride some big enemy around" gimmick a lot and I wish you'd move away from it because its getting old, but that's pretty subjective I guess.
Parker Morales
HOW DOES HE DO IT
I mean, SilentTron makes some good shit but I've seen as good if not better from other Yea Forums makers that have a fraction of plays/likes. What made him so damn lucky to get all this attention out of absolutely nowhere? Did some big name streamer play tanooki baseball on stream and it skyrocketed from there or what?
Michael Morales
imagine being this mad about not making it past some ice
Just watched the koopa ranger one on bearbeard youtube and had no idea it was silent. Personally I would never want to be featured on there because it's nothing but the lowest common denominator of mario levels, but good for him on getting more attention.
Jonathan Bailey
zoomers suck cause they'll also boo all your stuff that's hard but the levels they do like sure blow up with all their gang comments and likes and whatnot
Sebastian Cook
what are the difficulty spikes in those levels? I assume in duneworms its the final climb but I wouldn't say its a massive spike, its just jumping between wigglers as the final challenge. >I don't think I would have done is have the first Z jump section on moving enemies personally I don't think every level that has spin jumps needs to safely teach you what a spin jump is. >I've been noticing you use that whole "ride some big enemy around" gimmick a lot and I wish you'd move away from it because its getting old yeah, i've got a lot of shit for this and I probably won't do it again for a while. its usually just because it feels like an interesting way to use elements from the level.
Hudson Wilson
I like spinning on enemies, so not everyone is against it
Henry Clark

not that user but I gave up towards the end of the wiggler level as I found 1 specific jump incredibly difficult for some reason, might just have been me though.
Gabriel Evans
The problem with most popular levels is that they're piss-easy gimmick showcases for kids. Koopa Rangers looks completely generic, intro rooms aside. I have to admire some of this stuff, though. The 3D ghost house on the popular tab right now is really unique. youtube.com/watch?v=6jSrUh1FDxg

yes I left a comment there iirc

oh, the exit pipe to the flag was at the top of that wall. I guess it might have been too hard but it was supposed to be the hardest bit to finish it all off. thanks for playing it anyway, your levels are good.
Lucas Young
I did a lot there; I eventually moved on to play other levels after many failed attempts at that jump. Matthew Powell
I’ve been stoned pretty much 100% of the time I spend making stages. Playing them too for that matter
Luke Johnson
would you say it was badly telegraphed or just hard to execute?
Hunter Baker
It was well telegraphed, I think it was just because the wiggler was inside the wall. I'm used to inputting a direction shortly before jumping so that I'll have more momentum, but there was so little wiggler to bounce on that I kept falling off. The left side looked far enough away that I thought I'd need the momentum. If there was just one more tile of wiggler to bounce on or "wiggle room" as I like to call it the jump would have been a lot easier. TLDR; hard to execute because I may or may not be retarded
Matthew Gonzalez
thanks alot for the feedback
Ian Jenkins
I was and I agree with this user. I guess a section where you jumped from a big wall wiggler earlier in the level would've helped? For me, I either didn't bounce properly off it (I wasn't used to the timing of bouncing off a wiggler moving upwards)...or I tried to get a good bounce with more momentum but did so too late. Even though the wiggler isn't moving particularly fast, the window you need to jump in for that one jump is really narrow due to how the other wigglers and spikes are setup. That said, the level doesn't need changing really, and certainly isn't worth reuploading or anything like that as I think it was mostly me being a shitter at it. although I did breeze through the rest of it first try
In short, I think that jump was just a little out of the scope of the rest of the course without the player doing a similar jump beforehand.
Asher Martin
>Milly and Zank getting all this attention Next time there's a collab, I'm going to make the most bullshit annoying section ever and then no one will stop talking about me.
Fuck what an opener, started with this and damn. Really good man, could have easily dropped it into NSMBU and I wouldn't know it was fan made. There's so much shit to find and do, like the room past the checkpoint and a buncha others. It's the kinda level I play, and hope that other folks feel the same way about mine that I do this one. Looking forward to the rest, dunno how I haven't followed ya yet but I've rectified that.
Have you played mine? I've been wanting to ask folks how hard the red coins are to find, or if the general difficulty feels ok for where the "game" currently is
>I guess a section where you jumped from a big wall wiggler earlier in the level would've helped? yeah I should have done this in the first climb which would have allowed the player to reset. thanks, i'm going to bed now its like 4am here.
Aiden Jenkins
doesn't really look like good attention, especially for zank

Milly's stuff is fine, Zank just gets shit because he made a stupid half-assed section in a Yea Forums collab, and that's as much a fault of the dude that organizes those for not stopping him and saying "hey this is kind of fucking gay"

>Have you played mine? I've been wanting to ask folks how hard the red coins are to find, or if the general difficulty feels ok for where the "game" currently is Yeah, assuming you're mondo, I think I've played about half of them, found the red coins on most on the first run through I think. They are really good traditional levels so its hard to say much without being super nitpicky; they are pretty enjoyable. I've been looking forward to seeing what direction you take the rest of the NSMB levels in. I'll probably try a couple more as soon as I ragequit this Chinese nightmare.
RIght on, glad to hear that you don't hate em. You got a favorite? I started 4-3 but times limited for me tonight so its on hiatus til tomorrow afternoon. It'll be good though(I hope), should be out either tomorrow night or the following morning.
Finished this, friggin awesome, more challenging than Dancing desert flowers but really cool too. That boss fight was epic, the kinda stuff i'd like to make for my own boss stages. Also I liked that one extra room that had the blooper shooting gallery, reminded me of the shooting range sections from Resident Evil 4 for some reason. I keep forgetting that the vine tower is a thing you can do, I gotta do something with that at some point.
Do you know what would be an actually cool implementation of the switch app? QR codes so you can just scan them or upload them and then they get sent to a queue in game. Just a thought.

Made it up to Spicy Desert but I gotta crash, your stages are excellent, and they all have great titles and themes too. Will clear the rest tomorrow after work. Great job all around man.

>make a short dumb little auto-Mario level just playing around with mechanics >has around 20 something likes for several weeks >check back >now has over 200 likes >most of them seemed to have happened all in one day what the hell is happening
Either some streamer played it, or it became a hot course and a lot of users saw and played it as a result. Or it popped up in Endless Mario a lot or something
James Campbell
>started making a course weeks ago >haven't played in a couple weeks >worried about finishing it because I don't think it'll be any good I only have the last sub-area screen and the final stretch before the goal to finish. I just don't have the drive or enthusiasm I did when the first game came out
Grayson Ortiz
Thanks man, glad you liked them.

I have like 10 unfinished courses that are just sitting as save files and are basically permanently scrapped. I usually just salvage whatever good things from them that I can and move on.

It's not even that. It's just that I've become creatively bankrupt. I can't even find myself saying "here's a good idea I should use that."

It's time for another episode of "Am I Retarded?" M4Y-B69-GYG I came across this level in Normal Endless. I can't seem to figure out how to advance past the locked door. Pic not related
