Are they worth getting into?

They're expensive. The only non-jewish cardgame I've ever played was Shadowverse they throw you free gold and card packs like mad. I still have enough ingame currency amassed that I can build any decks that I want, even if my decks comprised of all Legendaries.
No, all TCGs with a digital version are trash.
no
If you get into them early on you can have fun. Joining late is a pain and not worth it.
I did enjoy Early Shadowverse a lot, until they kept increasing the number of legendaries released on every expansion.
slay the spire is pretty fun but that's because it's a single player RPG with mods and not P2W grind infested BS.
Mtg arena, Pokémon tcgo and kards are good
Hs shadowverse etc all garbage
>worth
no, it's gachashit without any skill involved.
the only one that i would ever say was worth was scrolls but microsoft killed it for no reason.
All of them suck ass by virtue of their grinding economies. Because you need to win fast to make gold to buy a fun deck, everyone rushes to make the cheapest most broken aggro deck possible. So you either throw money at the game to buy the anti-aggro deck and have fun dunking on plebs, or you join them playing hundreds of shitty ass aggro games to eventually graduate to a real deck.
So no, they're not worth it. Play slay the spire instead.
Any of them make good use of the digital format and/or have an interesting resource mechanic?
I know Hearthstone has random effects, and Hex has persistent modifications to cards, but I want to know if there's anything more interesting than that.
No, not even real life card games are worth getting into except maybe MTG 10+ years ago when they printed cards worth a fuck that would grow in value.
DBS is pretty damn good. The TCG and BoG movie are the only good things to have come from Super.
I'd like to say Artifact, but that game is boring as fuck
With physical card games at least you can meet new people irl and may be able to sell your cards some day after you don't feel like playing anymore. Digital cardgames are just pointless money sinks.
I wanted to try Artifact, but
>$20
Eternal, the game in OP, is basically Magic + digital mechanics. For example, attacking with a unit which has Warcry gives the top unit or weapon of your deck +1/+1. Warp is a keyword which reveals and lets you play that card if it is on top of your deck, meaning you can chain cast shit from your deck if you have enough power.
I really liked it when I started out. Haven't played in nearly 2 years though.
you can't go much cheaper as far as card games go

Did Eternal add a new color or is it still sticking to being MtG lite?
Literally every other digital TCG lets me try it for free. Most Physical TCGs even I can go to an LGS, and play with a demo deck or borrow a deck to learn the game.
But with Artifact I need to pay $20 up front. I don't care if it's cheap in the long run, I'm not willing to risk that $20 when literally every other TCG is free.
>I did enjoy Early Shadowverse a lot
Me too, user. The card art was great. I got bored and quit playing then a bunch of expacs for it were released before I knew it and it always felt like I was left too far behind. I started getting back into it not too long ago but it just didn't feel the same so I quit again. Maybe I could still enjoy it if I never stopped playing but I just can't get myself back into it again.
>attacking with a unit which has Warcry gives the top unit or weapon of your deck +1/+1.
Hex kind of has this, except it's on play and can be anything, not just +1/+1.
> is a keyword which reveals and lets you play that card if it is on top of your deck, meaning you can chain cast shit from your deck if you have enough power.
This is nowhere near digital only.
>Look at the top card of your deck, you may pay it's cost to play it.
is something you can do, and has been done, in paper.
No, play MTG with your friends instead and make crazy ass decks. Don't bother with anything that has a meta because that's how all the fun gets sucked out.
All cards games are awful right now.
Minion masters is the best digital card game.
TES Legends is unironically good
Digital cardgames are all garbage
Paper
Yugioh went to crap after terrible decisions made by Konami
Magic is hindered by the worst company that exists right now WotC
That new cardgame by Garfield is boring and bad
Pokemon i dont know
Someone competent needs to make a godamn good cardgame already
>tranny the gaythering
I'm waiting for a Keyforge digital release. Only card game I'm getting into these days.
Play DBS.
Too bad it's currently in its worst expansion to date.
Fuck Elana.
formerly magic the gathering
every shadowverse expansion is the worst expansion
it's just a terribly designed game that pushes 20 out of hand damage decks by turn 8
Warp is a constant effect though, meaning that if a Warp card is on top of your deck it will reveal itself to you automatically. This makes it so you always know whether your next card is a Warp card or is not a Warp card and you don't have to use an active effect to check it.
There are also cards which passively grant Warp to other cards in your deck, for example one card which gives your power (land) cards Warp. Meaning that you play that card and suddenly your top card, which happened to be power, is revealed because it gained warp from the last card you played.
There's no way to do this in paper without always checking your top card, which is a different dynamic to what Warp does.
played it on paper for a bit and it sucked donkey dick. The whole concept of being unable to play 2/3 of your deck in a turn is not fun
Oh, I misunderstood. My bad.
I think it's pretty ingenious and leads to some interesting decisions, while getting rid of mana/resources, which is ancient design
No. Im a big fan of paper card games and my opinion is that digital games are pure cancer. Card games are fun because you get to shoot the shit with the other person. In digital card games, the only things allowed are emotes. It's soulless and once you rank up, it's just a boring grind.
Digital card games were a mistake.
Been playing this one for about 2 months now. MM is the only multiplayer digital card game I've found that isn't a blatant MTG or HS clone.
>Yugioh went to crap after terrible decisions made by Konami
elaborate? ygo is bigger than ever
I used to think so but then Might & Magic : Champions closed, and everything that released since then has been hot garbage
cute, i wish yugioh hadnt be come such a mess of combos and otks
You tried Faeria?
I think I tried this one years ago. Not worth getting into a multiplayer game that no one plays.
I played faeria a long time ago, like 4 years or so ? It was still in early access
I quit when it was obvious the designers had no fucking idea what to do with the blue color and they thought it was perfectly normal that red and yellow got to completely ignore the board and kill you through constant chip damage
>resource management is bad
Look, MTG's Land and HS's Crystals may be bad, but that doesn't mean resource management as a game mechanic is outdated.
I wasn't reccomending it as a good game, just pointing it out as another non MTG/Hearthclone.
There are a lot of those, like duelyst and such, but for some reason they run out of ideas fast and start copying hearthstone mechanics and card design verbatim. It's uncanny.
Yeah, I agree. I just think it's a well implemented alternative to a tried and true mechanic. A breath of fresh air, if you ask me, which fits well with the whole unique deck game thing it's trying to push.
I've got a hearty hankering for Gwent
Gf got me into it a little while ago, I've been enjoying it. The small community it has is also pretty nice, people are usually pretty chill and are willing to give advice.
the pokemon tcg online is actually really good
best part is you can trade for anything you want so it's easy to build shit.
you don't have to bust open tons of packs like in HS.
(you can get the pack codes in bulk for next to nothing on ebay and trade the unopened packs for singles)
I'm not the user you first responded to, and I'm not saying it's bad in Keyforge, I'm just saying calling resource management outdated is dumb. That said I abhor the unique deck gimmick.
I'm enjoying mtga a lot and if i stop i'll go back to gwent
if I remember correctly Duelyst was just a HS clone that used pic related type map & deck leader
MTGA:ARENA
you recall incorrectly, it had a lot that set it apart at the beginning
they started gradually turning the game into hearthstone after a while tho
I'm playing Gwent, it's a good game and has the most fair progression system I've ever seen, it's easy to obtain cards without paying a dime.
Shadowverse is.
