I'm 2 hours into it and liking it so far. Combat is pretty basic though I haven't unlocked much yet. From the other posts it seems like it doesn't advance much beyond hack + slash with a dodge here and there for good measure.

Open world bits seem a bit out of place. Seems strange needing to run around the map collecting tree seeds to upgrade your sword. On PC I've experienced one crash so far. I hear the PC version is a bit unstable. Story is interesting so far though I get the feeling it's going to be a "Are we the baddies?" situation.

There's "old good, new bad" for every game, it doesn't matter how shitty the old ones were or how great the newer ones are. That's just gaming folks.

JP dub is kinda boring and sterile, every character sounds so monotone

Eng dub actually has some personality and yes, 9S voice is God tier but everyone else are good too

JP dub played them like robots, which makes sense. Eng dub just overlooked that and I think it plays better that way.

I am playing this for the first time as i type this and i'm about to platinum. The game was over-hyped, but it's pretty damn good regardless. Combat isn't anything special, but it's fun. The hacking concept and 8bit sequences are clever and well done although repetitive as the game moves along. Soundtrack is really good. There's a credits battle in one of the endings that's interesting and adds to the charm of the game. Story is the strongest part but still over-hyped. Overall, i'd recommend to anyone, it's a fantastic game. Enjoy!

Really solid soundtrack, some good visuals, repetitive combat, lots of open world stuff if you plan on upgrading all your weapons, 5 normal endings and 21 joke ones, chip system that can be exploited to be really overpowered if you know what you're doing, a story that you'll either love or hate, and acceptable characters. Also you can always beat your dick to 2B or 9S/A2 if they're your kinda thing in the middle of it all.

A brilliant game. Make sure you play through to and including ending E. It uses the medium to an extent not seen before and we won't see again for 5 to 10 years. (unless Kojima does something amazing with Death Stranding).
Also one of the best OST's in existence, not just in games but all media. 2B's english VA is awful though unforunately.

You're still doing your few basic combos and mashing dodge to become invincible. The chips do nothing but let you oneshot shit if you stack specific ones but they don't add any real depth
