I played it for 3 months and pretty much "did everything". The events they released every 2 - 4 weeks were painfully dry, just expecting me to grind the same damn map x50 times to unlock everything. And they would make you grind the easiest difficulty at least 25% of the time. It was intolerable garbage. And this is coming from someone who continues to endure lazy FGO/FEH "content".

I lost plot of the story when I started playing. I was too low level for operation cube last year, but manage to finish arctic warfare without finishing chapter 7. Now Im at a point where even with multiple level 100 echelons im still not powerful enough to do some missions thoroughly without being blown the fuck away and for some reason my resources are all fucked out of whack, having 200k+ ammunition yet teetering on 30k everything else resource.

I want to enjoy what plot there is, but switching back and forth between normal and emergency in between chapters and somehow not being powerful enough to continue past chapter 7 emergency annoys the fuck out of me.

You have 4 dolls with no ammo or rations. You have a grenadier AR with rations/ammo carry the group through a map like 4-3e or 0-2. You resupply another grenadier AR each run then swap their places after so you're just supplying a single doll for an entire run of exp.

But after that all there is is buying tokens for gacha rolls which aren't required for gameplay and which they give you for playing anyway. The gacha element in this one is mostly cosmetic, like skins and dorm decorations to showoff your whalestatus to friends. The girls themselves are in a separate pool that you roll with resources you accumulate overtime by sending squads out on logistics.

The base gameplay is pretty boring and easy, especially with the base content. But the game really starts to shine with its events, that ramp up the difficulty to 11, with leaderboards. Some require weeks, even months of preparing your echelons to be up to snuff to even finish all the maps. Also requires actual thought to complete rather than just rushing the objectives.

But in the downtime, it's pretty low committal, just gradually raising units for your squads, and collecting resources to roll more dolls/equipment/drones, etc.

A fun time waster, with a cooler setting than a game about gun girls has any right having.

GFL doesn't have particularly bad gacha mechanics, as the ones that affect your gameplay (building new dolls and equipment) only require resources from grinding and/or AFK logistics missions. The cash shop gacha is for cosmetics like costumes and furniture, and the tokens for that are often given out for free in events.

It's a good gacha as you can get anything you want f2p. Even gameplay wise it is above average for gacha. Some people don't like it because they dislike gacha. A lot of others dislike it because they have their own gacha they are loyal to and see gacha fanbase as a zero sum scenario.

It's excruciatingly casual, and the amount of time you've put into the game matters more than any single other factor to an extreme degree, so much so that it's fairly safe to say that nothing else matters. Sure, building good squads matters, but anyone can build any squad given enough time.

Personally, I like it quite a bit, but for some people, what I just explained is a major negative. The game basically plays itself, with decision-making being nearly non-existent, hence why simply grinding out team composition and levels/skills matters so much.

I don't mind grinding as long as the game is fun

A little bit of advance wars is what I would describe it. You deploy and move your units around on a web of connected spaces to capture the enemy base or kill enemy units.

During combat it's mostly auto-attacking that relies on your stats and the combination and placement of your girls relative to eachother and the enemy, along with some abilities that run off cooldowns.

you work your way up from small maps to fuck-huge maps using different formations with some micro management

No, it's pay for cosmetics. In the start you can pay a little bit for convenience but you can get that for free if you save for a bit.The convenience is just extra slots which isn't necessary at all in the beginning either, but you'll want them eventually.

Getting a 5* S/G is no small feat of luck. And check out her skill.

I think AA-12 is cuter. But a shield buffer that constantly refreshes on a low cooldown, ontop of a tile set that buffs the entire backline, makes her an all around top pick and immovable anchor. She's pretty much perfect for 3MG/1 SG setups.

Everything is restricted by timers, your dorm upgrades, skill upgrades, repairs.
Horrible exp gain, you will be farming 0-2 for a month at the very least to get your squads
Squad slots need to be unlocked with gems and if you dont have enough, you cant run the tactical sortie or whatever its called AND do harder stages at the same time, you need to deploy those squads

The entire idea behind heavy construction
The fanbase with inferiority complex that keeps spamming threads even when half of the replies tell them to pull the trigger already

I'm entirely f2p and I got all chibi skins and rolled pretty much all dolls I wanted from just doing the regular daily event 4 rolls a day.

Night missions fucking suck though.

Not really, unless you are at very endgame state or just save up without rolling, you will either run out of materials to repair/deploy your dolls or roll any more, i dropped this at around midgame, still trying to get specific guns and most importantly, shotguns, but after 2 weeks of nit being able to run stages because I was rolling my dailies, I dropped it, this was honestly the straw that broke the camels back in addition to previous reasons

If you don't have enough fodder you should send auto battle to 1-2 I believe or just feed enhancement pills. If you drag 0-2 you'll have enough fodder though.
