Alien came out in the 80s

>Alien came out in the 80s
>hundreds of videogames
>Predator came out in the 80s
>hundreds of videogames
>The Thing came out in the 80s
>one videogame

Why?

Doesn't translate well to vidya.

I feel like these days with asynchronous multi-player "stalker" type games like Dead By Daylight it might be possible to make a fun The Thing game.

>good movies get games
>bad movies don't

seems obvious

except most zoomer gamers stream and they all streamsnipe eachother, so it's immediately obvious who is the thing

Metroid Fusion

There's several gmod gamemodes with a similar concept.

>except most zoomer gamers stream and they all streamsnipe eachother, so it's immediately obvious who is the thing
you know that most people who are playing are not streaming, right?

The Thing is a cult classic, not a blockbuster like Alien or Predator. It was never popular enough to warrant anything besides a terrible remake... when it was already a remake.

Literally would just be the ice/snow areas from Dead Space 3 nowadays. Horror games are dead.

>Alien came out in the 80s

Yeah, and aside from Alien: Isolation none of them were good

>predator games
>hundreds
I fucking wish. Only notable solo game is Concrete Jungle. Anything else good is AvP.

this is wrong

I'd love to play an immersive sim based on The Thing, a la Prey 2017.

It's alot more difficult to make a game when the enemy isn't obviously the enemy. Thing would need to be more subtle and most would just kill everyone instead of actually trying to figure out who the Thing is.

pretty hard to do a suspenseful thriller when you already know what your up against, but a multiplayer would be boring as shit as your either in a group of people fucking around until enough dumbasses get caught out by the thing and they can just overwhelm you at that point i've played garry's mod gamemodes with this same concept and most of them have flopped because it's so fucking boring

>It was never popular enough to warrant anything besides a terrible remake... when it was already a remake.
That was a prequel.

>remake
wasn't it a prequel?
The dog from the beginning of the original and the swedish guy sniping at it are the survivors.

Dead by Daylight has so many arbitrary caveats to the premise to make it work, it's actually amazing how they've adapted licensed killers like Saw within that narrow framework.

So did MEW freeze to death after murdering Joel Edgerton?

It's a safe guess.

My problem with DBD is that every map I see is in the middle of the woods somewhere.

I haven't seen any really claustrophobic, maze-like levels, like an abandoned hospital or asylum or something

what the fuck did I just saw

There are two indoor maps: a CIA run hospital where they tortured prisoners, and a meat packing plant from SAW.

Okay, a soft reboot.

The Thing was a commercial and critical failure at release.
Fuck that sounds awesome.

>too scary for vidya

the thing is basically trouble in terrorist town

Is the 50s The Thing any good?

It's alright
The books both movies are based on is good too. "Who Goes There"

The thing was kino but it made no money
