Daily reminder that the church demanded that peasants have more vacation days then we have in modern times.
aleteia.org/2017/06/16/how-peasants-in-the-middle-ages-had-more-vacation-time-than-we-do/

b-b-b-but church = evil

Studying the schedules of medieval peasants and craftsmen, it's actually amazing how little they worked. Most days, the actual work was less than 8 hours and many days they did no work at all, or very little. It's no wonder that even in the 19th century people were complaining about how overworked industrial society was.

The Industrial Revolution has had exactly one positive effect on the lifestyle of humans - it contributed to slavery being abolished. But other than that it has objectively made things far, far harder for all of us.

In medieval times slavery was abolished.

serfdom was effectively slavery in much of Europe, certainly less brutal than what the blacks were subjected to but there wasn't any liberty for serfs in many countries until the 16th century, even later in eastern europe.

>that mullett
Redflag for batshit crazy.

They didn't work on Sundays either, you know the 7th day, or else they would literally die.
Basedest GOD to be honest..

>serfdom was effectively slavery

That's a stretch, by that logic wageslavery is also slavery.

Hot take there Mandalore

Ludite scum can fuck off, if humanity can ascend, it should

If you count the Ottoman Empire once that became a thing, they kept both black and white slaves.

>if humanity can ascend, it should
Why? and how do you define ascension?

Something he likes.

>Lets lose everything that makes us human and become just brains in jars bro
>It'll be fun bro, its evolution bro
>Come on, join me in the jar bro
>Yeah, its fine, the nitrate-glucose-carbonate-condense is good for you

No, humanity is destined to rule over all the material.
We should drill every single planet ass in the universe.

Psychic powers, mecha, immortality, basically everything this bitch hates. Even hippy dippy spiritual bullshit about becoming one with the planet turns humanity into a superpowered hivemind.

The universe is gonna end unless there's some bullshit level of deific ascension possible in the future.

>Ragie wagies ITT
Bought myself a 2080TI yesterday, how does it feel?

If you, or anyone, wanted you could live in a pre-industrial method

>Why?
Thermodynamics nigga

The only way to save the universe is for current physics to be wrong

>cheap scifi entertainement
That's literally what SMAC is

>Yeah this is the most prosperous time in the last 100,000 years.

What a shitty canard.

>tfw you realize perfection is not different in anyway from perfection, so to be different would mean to not be perfection and thus not perfect
>tfw you realize that in pursuit of perfection we will eventually all become a hivemind

nay, it is you who is retarded

My parents are in their late 60's and working four jobs between them.

>The Industrial Revolution has had exactly one positive effect on the lifestyle of humans - it contributed to slavery being abolished.
instead of having a master that has to take care of you, you are now a wagie slave instead and you have to take care of yourself

The real lesson is that perfection is unattainable and undesirable.

My grandmas 74 and still working, her children are fucking worthless.

I mean I'm still going to try, but I'm not ruling just killing myself out.
My cousin can't afford to have kids, my other cousin has been homeless since he moved out. Given they dropped out of college so I guess that's their choices that fucked them over. It still sucks how much one or two bad choices fuck you over for your entire life.

I have such bad autism I can't do half the things I should be doing. I just started signing back up for college. I really, really don't want to become like my cousins
I think my grandparents are barely making it, I don't ask them a lot about their money stuff.

i dunno man, going from airplanes made from paper and fabric to flying to the moon in the span of 50 years is quite something

stop living in the west

If you are christcuck, yeah. Otherwise, nope. Send her to the mental hospital right now.

Would you really doom yourself and everyone to an eternity of endless shitposting
You're also forever trapped alongside normies

>didnt save any money for retirement
>unsurprisingly still working
>better blame the entire industrial revolution like an actual troglodyte Luddite
shit man, if we did still live in a pre industrial society shed at least have a higher chance of being dead to a host of possible causes like literally unclean drinking water contaminated by excrement
daily reminder to put as much money as you can into a Roth or 401k so that you can retire without having to rely on anyone else in old age
it does suck though if she has some legitimate reason for it, such as children who fucked up and required significantly more funds then they should have, or some other unusual expensive emergency, but blaming that on the industrial revolution is retarded, and in actuality things would have been far worse without our current level of industrial infrastructure

I didn't play the game I just came into the thread to read about people's opinion of it and shitpost with tankies
presumably if everyone was perfect noone would do anything that was unpleasant, and they'd all do the maximally pleasant thing

itt catholics for sloth

No I still appreciate what we have. I just feel like I've already fucked up.
Shit it's time to learn chinese

yes this universe will unwind and that's just the way it be
no killdozer will save you from what you are

>didnt save any money for retirement
Hard to save when you have next to nothing to save

If are a "wageslave" who is legally prohibited from seeking more gainful employment, as serfs were, then yes obviously that is fucking slavery you fucking idiot. The only technicality you could possibly point to is that nobles couldn't normally buy and sell individual serfs like objects, but in all other respects they were slaves.

genuinely a fair point
Most people have more money to save then they think. Can't tell you how many people I've heard say that who told me about how often they ate out, or who were avid smokers.
But there are people who are indeed desperately living from paycheck to paycheck

I implore anyone who is young to actually read this page, especially the Effect of Compounding Periods on Future Value
It genuinely does not take as much money as you think to save for retirement
Watch it, if not for yourself than for your children.
For many of us our biggest asset is our youth

>The only way to save the universe is for current physics to be wrong
Well luckily our current physics can't be right: conservation of energy says you can't get something from nothing, and entropy says that nothing lasts forever. You can't have both at the same time, while also having something that exists.

Again, you're doing mental gymnastics to try that can be used for pretty much anything.

>more gainful employment
And the diference? You're still part of the system and any other employment you can get you will still be subordinated to someone else. Without even counting in the saturated market where there little new to come up with or personal and government debt you need to pay.

My parents often tell me they will not be able to retire on their salaries, which has lead to me getting a job overseas and funneling money into a bank account that I plan to give them when they turn 70. It's miserable, but I don't think I could take it if they literally worked themselves to death.

I really want to campaign for a political position just so I can maybe one day fix this issue for future generations, but I have no clue how to go about it.

Bitches don't know about my relative time nigga

Before anything there was nothing. There wasn't a period of time where there was nothing, the nothing didn't actually exist because nothing = nothing. Time only existed alongside space which isn't nothing.

Therefore you didn't get something from nothing because nothing didn't actually exist, it's a concept.

The universe will burn out and there's no reason to do anything.
