The entire reason Hughes is such an influential character and his death is impactful is because of the 2003 show. Otherwise he would just be a forgettable character that served as Mustang's motivation to be a protagonist.

I like both FMA animes but I don't really think they're comparable and don't see why people do it so much, they're completely different stories. It's not even a "some events are different and some motivations are different," literally everything is totally different besides a small handful of main characters.

The manga was also like this but it was easily skip-able. Humor on Hellsing is really weird and unfunny to begin with. The setting is so over the top that it shouldn't come from being intentional anyway.

Yes and no, I understand that she wanted to expand the world a bit more but by not having them actually go there really diminished it's seeming importance. The only tie Ed and Al had to their people were Ling and whatsherface as opposed to the people of Lior whom they saw firsthand

2003 isnt the source material, but its very good, the Prison which is about halfway through both 2003 and brotherhood is where they go there own way because Brotherhood(source) wasnt finished.

2003 is more tragic, grounded, and id say overall more mature.

Brotherhood is a lot more bombastic, its the source, some really hype moments. Happier ending, a lot more characters.

Both have amazing OST. Watch 2003, then Brotherhood, they are very different by the end of it.

My high school weeb GF got me into this back in 200X. It was actually pretty good. It felt a little low budget yes, but it was just people talking most of the episode, it didnt need to be fancy. Now they drop this shit where its a remake. I never felt the quality of the first series was lacking in ANY way aside from maybe a solid conclusion. There were almost no QUALITY moments.
