I play PSO with a DreamPi with my friends monthly. Shit is still so fucking good. Nice and simple, don't need a billion hours to get to the fun stuff. Still challenging enough stimulate my brain.

Yea it's pretty nice, I play on Ephinea from time to time, mostly if I'm away from home since my shitty Surface Go can play it.

Great time so far, gonna upgrade my computer soon enough.

Not necessarily. FFXIV, DQX and PSO2 all are pretty old and dated by now. Releasing a modern MMO now (and let's be honest, this is one of the best looking MMOs so far and seems like it has a proper combat system) could pay off. There's little to no competition and many people want something new.
And it seems there's really some interest in the alpha. I don't remember the exact numbers right now, but the registrations for the alpha far exceeded the amount of what they expected.

The fact that two out of three of those are still very active says enough.
MMO's have it rough breaking through in a market where the core audience already have hundreds if not thousands of hours in a specific game.
I can definately see many people that play PSO2 switching to BP but FFXIV? I don't see it.

only FF14 is remotely alive out of those 3. dqx is on it's last legs and support has shrunk considerably and it's nearing end of life. FF14 was getting close to end of life, they said shadowbringers would be one of the last expansions, so I figure maybe 2024 or 2025. pso2 is a shitheap but it makes tons of money because of every event for the last 3 years being an anime crossover to play dressup.
