Todd.

Nobody beats Japanese autism if that's what you're asking.

Peter Molyneux, Will Wright, American Mcgee?
Too bad they're all disgraced

carmack for miyamoto
binding of isaac guy for kamiya
kojima has no equivalent

Sid Meier.

miyazaki just makes the same game over and over again and only allows anyone else to make that same game too

Honestly, indie developers.
Almost no one in the AAA space has a strong directorial vision/personality. There's only a couple exceptions like Cory Barlog and Michel Ancel.

Westerners are subhuman

Jonathan Blow
Lucas Pope

Nobody. I guess Japan is the last country games have a personality behind.

Games in the west turned into fast food. Nameless corporation makes game and adds some progressive garbage to please the media and that's that 99% of the time.

The same indie devs who constantly call their audience entitled and faggots for not buying their pixelshit in the millions?

Will Wright is not disgraced, he just doesn't work in vidya any more.

Jenova Chen, he's Chinese though.

>make good games that follow a solid formula, that no other developer has been able to truly replicate
>this is a bad thing for some reason
I really hate stupid faggots who want developers to "innovate", when what they're doing is distinct in context of the whole industry. You're really advocating for the opposite, by demanding them to change they would ironically become LESS unique.
Hell I'm already concerned about Miyazaki calling Elden Ring "open world".

>Kojima has no equivalent
Closest I can think of is David Cage, but Kojima movies actually have gameplay included, so it's not a great comparison anyway.

Ueda and (especially) Miyazaki are not auteurs.

Daisuke Amaya, Joakim Sandberg, Eric Chahi are.

The entire structure and many smaller details of the game are identical. Even if the new combat system makes it the most different of the lot, it's very similar to Souls.

true

EA killed his love for vidya

Most indie devs are not like that.
But even the most stereotypical ones like Phil Fish still have a stronger vision than most western AAA devs.

Who is the Yoko Taro of Western game devs?

>indie devs are one person

toby fox is an incredibly humble guy. same goes for hopoo, dingaling, etc. phil fish is not all indie devs.

Most auteurs are probably indie devs you've never heard of, like John Clowder or Mason Lindroth

>Games in the west turned into fast food. Nameless corporation makes game and adds some progressive garbage to please the media and that's that 99% of the time.

Examples?

Everything released by EA, Ubisoft, Activision. Now even Sony (though japanese) is following their trend. Smaller ones are following it too.

I don't give a fuck about your addiction to playing through the same "solid formula" ad infinitum. The quality of the games was not mentioned and is not relevant. You aren't an auteur when you produce nothing but iterative works. The exact formula they're iterating on is something only they have done well, but that's an accomplishment reserved for the fromsoft of 2009. Improving upon a proven formula is not unique in the industry.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean he's disgraced. He's a tragic figure.

I'm trying to decipher what argument you're trying to make, and I got nothing. Oh well.

Can someone give me the run down on EA?

True, my bad. I also forgot to mention Sid Meier, he's still around right?

>You aren't an auteur when you produce nothing but iterative works.
summed up in less than a dozen words, my illiterate friend.
