I remember seeing the first gameplay of Sly 4 and getting hyped for it, but then when they added a bunch of detail to the character models it started to become less appealing.

It’s a shame too because the animation for them was fantastic for the most part.

I don't know why Yea Forums shits on 4 so much. It completely removed most of the worst forced minigame shit that 3 did too much of, and the minigames you do have to do are way easier than the ones in 2/3.

I expected some actual interesting gameplay off of it all but only Tenesee made something cool. I cant say the same for everyone else user, wish I could.

Also the bosses all kinda sucked? None felt climactic or interesting, with Dimitri you literaly crashed a hole into his hideout and fight amongst his money counterfiting ring, Rajan you beat the shit out of in his own temple on a arena, you beat the crap out of the contessa one on one on the highest top of her castle and stakes were always kinda high and the bosses never had a "waiting period. In 4, its more like a puzzle boss with the whole increasing timers every phase sorta shit where you aint really beating the shit out of em but just waiting for the attack period.

I never cared for the "hate-chip" thing. I much preferred the idea that he kept himself alive through his own sheer hatred (and also turning himself into a robot), not through a chip he installed.

Sly shared the wealth though. If he saw his he friends as family he would have given him a little or at least let them into the vault at the very least

But the chip literally works with hate, it's exactly what you wanted, he turned himself into a robot and managed to live forever thanks to his hate. The chip is just the link between his indomitable hate and his robotic body (also a plot device to eliminate Clockwerk for good because stuff like "destroying a soul" could have been done in this series but it's not fitting for a villain like Clockwerk so the chip replaced the soul)

The only thing about it was it kind of felt out of no where from what I remember. Like there was a bit of dialog cut or something because it just kind of gets mentioned right at the end and feels like just a reason to get Bently crushed.

It's almost certain Sanzaru was trying to tie in a connection between Penelope going back in time and the creation of Clockwerk. Which could either be shitty fanfiction-tier writing or gold depending on how it's done.

According to Thieves in Time, Clockwerk has been a mechanical abomination since the stone age, it's fucking ridiculous, but once you remember Penelope is the one that gave Thieves in Time's villain the time machine (the time machine she stole from Bentley) and that she's free and still hating Sly at the end of the game it's evident Clockwerk will end up being either enhanced by Penelope or at least allowed to go back in time to the stone age thanks to her
Which is pretty ironic, Bentley was the one taking Clockwerk's hate chip, which ultimately lead to his destruction, but he later created the machine that allowed Clockwerk to exist in first place

Penelope knows time travel and robotics so yeah, I think it was all alluding to Penelope in some way being part of Clockwerk's creation.

It is pretty hypocritical with how much Sly seems to love the whole "honorable thief" notion. Though leaving it all behind for Bentley and Murray to put to use is still a pretty decent, selfless act for him to go out on. It's him correcting the mistake his father made by recognizing how much he actually relies on his team. I wonder if that was the reasoning behind the subtitle "Honor Among Thieves," or if it's just there because it's a popular phrase.

The other girl just kind of shows up in the final Sucker Punch game and is kind of forced into the main group with not much going on. Compare that to something like even Donkey Kong who has at least 5 confirmed females in the franchise.

I dont think the game was every really based on the principle of the girls being the main atraction so they probably just added a few in order to stop it from being a sausage fest. Sly was never huge, but you still had female bosses, and totaling everyone, you had Ruby, Carmelita, Neyla, Contessa and Decibel. Still like 5, even if not all major characters.

It had to be for a reason. Dr M. (despite some justifications) had no honor to his old gang, he never once thought about breaking out McSweeny (in fact it was because of the fall out between Sly's dad and M, and later Conner's death that McSweeny turned himself in).

Rachet series is on par or better than the Sly series depending on what you are looking for in your platforming. Jak series is very divided in that the first game is your standard collectathon platformer and the sequels got GTA'd.

all ratchet and clank games are good, even the two ps3 ones
jak 1 is good, can't speak to two and three

Ratchet has a bunch of neat weapons that can be upgraded (In 2 and 3), and the upgrades actually change things up considerably. It's also got some pretty decent feel. Platforming isn't great, but it's not the primary focus of the game. Just cool weapons and a lot of dumb enemies to try them out on. There's also a few minigames thrown in the mix to break up the pacing. They are hit-or-miss but mostly good.

Jak puts more points into presentation than anything else. It's more of a platformer than Ratchet (It has a number of moves at your disposal from the start), but it's more fun to just explore the world and collect stuff to unlock more of the game to explore. Fairly non-linear, but not open-world by any means. Jak 2 and 3 add guns and vehicles and missions and are a lot more open. These are generally considered weaker than the first.

Furries, despite their inherent degenerate flaws, are a godsend to the arts.

Played it mate, yeah it's great. Played through it with the skin on that takes away your sword even. Shadow tactics is a fun game to ghost, obviously not similar to classic third person stealth games but still a great game.

I'd say they get easier since you get way more health starting with the second game. At least you also get a lot more gameplay options, so it's still fun if not a bit easier.

The game is entirely too big for it's own good.
Content is stacked in a linear faction, so all that empty space begins to be felt. Gadgets like the spy cam, incredible as it for a PS2 game wains on the player for being unpractical. They didn't even use the jetpack from Sly 2, which is objectively better than 3's as well as actually being useful for 3's vertical level design. Its the result of devs being too ambitious, but not ambitious enough. Clue bottles got axed yet they had the resources to implement multiplayer, time trials, and 3-D? Not to mention all the shorts and behind the scenes extras. Most things feel like an afterthought like the dog fights. Then there's those huge open world pirate sections that have their own thought out mechanics, but feels really out of place in a Sly game. Amazing how incredibly inconsistent the third game is.

I only played it when I got the ps3 collection so I't might not have the benefit of nostalgia to me, but it generally felt a lot weaker than the first two. The new characters weren't very fleshed out gameplay wise and didn't feel nearly as fun to play as the sly, bentley, and murray, and the plot of the 2nd game was helped by being connected with Clockwerk, I think.

The HD Collection is pretty good
Not perfect, there's a few visual hiccups here and there

But they run pretty much perfect (on PS3), and the games look fucking great in HD

Both the vita and ps3 versions are pretty much perfectly fine to play. They have slightly less bugs (which are really only used to sequence break and speedrun) and other than that, the only thing that is worse is that the third boss of the first game is pretty much fully broken on the ps3/vita versions. It's a rhythm boss and the music is completely fucked up, so just find gameplay on Youtube and sync.
