>Launched with a base roster of 50. >Launched with a story mode. >Updated graphics when people complained. >Properly balanced the game when people complained. >DLC characters were mostly fan-favorites that hadn't been seen in a while. >Used success and momentum to make even more fighting games.
Was that prerelease? Kinda hard to say it counts if the game was still being developed.
Dylan Young
Yuri's big ass better look great on KOF XV
Jaxon Evans
No. It was after a few months
Leo Reyes
Looked it up. It was patch 1.10.
They upgraded the graphics from terrible to presentable. Wish they'd give it another round because the character's new faces look so slovenly. They could make it look more like the 2D art.
looks like garbage runs like garbage lol autocombos
Brandon Miller
>>>Updated graphics when people complained. >Gonna need a source or patch notes chief. Remember old andy, just look how the updated him before the game was released. It is insane but this game looks better than SFV
that was my first fighting game too back when it came out on steam and it was one hell of a way to start. my thumb was not ready for those double quarter circle back motions
It's a more traditional fighting game than either of those. It's kind of like street fighter except you have 4 different types of jumps, runs instead of dashes, invincible rolls, and chain combos instead of links.
Parker Clark
If it weren't for the graphics XIV would have been a hit, I'm hoping XV can change that as everything else is going well for the series and SNK. Hope they will bring back most of the cast, I want Yamazaki again.
XIII is kinda dumb, try 98 as the combos are short
and you forgot the poor netcode makes it unplayable
Xavier Scott
Does anyone even play KoF 97 Global Match?
Jackson Howard
>Used success and momentum to make even more fighting games. Was KoF15 really successful? I don't remember anyone talking about it, and it isn't even supported on the big fighting tournies.
Gavin Johnson
>Updated graphics when people complained. Ah... the classic "it looks better and better with every new trailer". I always thought DCucks were an unique specimen until that point.
Nathan Nelson
chineses
XIV was despite not being a huge hit. Way cheaper to produce, XIII cost too much
the game had a lighting update months after it came out
Elijah Ward
As long as they keep Vanessa and Blue Mary in the roster un good. Also a Metal Slug Team
Easton Ward
>Max Mode isn't as important for shit >Use XIV's models as a base but tweak a lot of stuff >Redesign Shun'ei's outfit >Keep most of 14's cast >SamSho team >Good netcode >Sylvie Paula Paula on the box >Marketing as good as SamSho
The big cast could be a real factor. Everyone will be moaning about GBV's 11, so coming in hot with 40-50 really makes the game stand out
I was down to give it a chance until I found out the roster was really fucking barebones and like 75% MMPRwank
I dunno I'm a sentaifag not a PRfag but I'm more than willing to play along as long as they give me literally anything besides the same nostalgia pandering I always see. Put one of those Beast Morphers guys in to promote the new show, or maybe the Red Samurai ranger for more female characters I don't know.
I have been playing 98 on switch and kind of want to get the new one but I hear fighting games have a shit player base on pc, any chance of a switch port soon?
No there isn't. it's K- you retard and remember that the - don't be silent
Austin Lewis
i'll play if you do, i haven't played kof in a long time go so i'll forget most of everything
Charles Phillips
XIV won't be now, game is past its prime if it even really had one. But XV will probably be ported eventually, like SamSho is getting a delayed release.
Maybe they did but the game still looks ugly. I'll take a tighter roster with more visual work done on it than a massive roster that looks like an early PS3 game.
Dominic Thompson
kof has never looked as anime as guilty gear, we've been over this user
only KOF I've ever played was XI back in high school but I fucking loved that game. I've never been good at fighting games or anything but I'd suck a coupla dicks for a modern port with online. Even if I'd just get bodied by everyone I just wanna play it again.
Jaxon Price
still shit, that's not an update. That's not kyo, this is Kyo.
>no max mode >plays closer to 98 >keeps a decent amount of the newer characters from 14 >bring back more old favorites like duck king >kukuri being twice as edgy
>bring shingo and rugal back as single entrants >boomer team with oswald, jubei yamada and saisyu kusanagi >garou team with kain, grant and a third one (maybe rock?) >another fatal fury team with rick strowd, franco bash and duck king
Angel Jenkins
Cool.
Chase Brown
I feel like it launched early to not get ass raped by Mortal Kombat which came out a month later.
They have a season pass but they promised to add levels and characters in free updates now and again. I'm personally waiting for it to go free 2 play. If it ever does. It would be cool as fuck. And they could still make money off of that fortnite battle pass shit for cosmetics
Noah White
Rugal is alive again, so is Igniz
Ethan Nelson
On account of Verse releasing all their souls, does that mean Krizalid, Rugal, Igniz, Gaidel & Mizuki ( from SamSho ) will all be in KoF XV?
Angel Martin
It actually is pretty cool. I like to watch all the dev break downs because they tell you exactly what they were going for with each character, what archetype they're meant to be, and even how to play/counter them. If you're not very good at fighting games and even if you are it's a treasure trove of information.
It's dirt cheap so I don't think it needs to go F2P. Especially since if it did they'd probably jew you way harder with the characters instead of doing a nice 3 character $10 season pass thing. For a game that has crossplay with literally everything except you know who it's a pretty good deal if you want to play something that you'll get consistent matches in.
Michael Carter
That's a toy.
Oliver Rogers
The prerelease looked bad. SNK did not have anyone who was skilled with lighting 3D environments, so all of the models looked fucked up.
Then they got someone who re-wrote the shader coding and now it looks pretty good.
Not them but it was easy to pirate neo geo stuff in comparison
Nicholas Hill
Personally don't like KOF's 3v3 setup and how most characters are usually moreorless locked into a specific play-style/team role by design.
Chase Watson
>Can pirate NG carts unlike CPS ones. >Can shove like 5 games on a cart unlike CPS on top of being somewhat more cheap.
I wonder why. SF game still retained popularity but cabinets were quite uncommon to see around.
Christopher Sanders
>locked into a specific play-style/team role Being better for a team position doesn't mean they have a limited play style. And team positioning is somewhat flexible.
Kayden Johnson
>how most characters are usually moreorless locked into a specific play-style/team role by design. This is much less true than SF and most comparable games due to the universal movement mechanics which are usually much more significant than character specific stuff Don't shit on games you don't know much about
this was funnier when it was just Andy since you could genuinely fool people with poor memory into thinking it wasn't edited at all
Jonathan Cruz
>Don't shit on games you don't know much about I'm the only one in this thread who's said anything about the game proper at all, as usual most people here who praise KOF don't play it.
Anthony Mitchell
>Caracters are usually moreorless locked into a specific play-style/team role by design.
Far from it. Ton of characters can switch position around without big issue, Kim for example can go first and do just fine to not depend much on stock or last to go full rushdown with max stock.
Meta isn't exactly set in stone, even low tier shitters can be quite annoying if played properly and is on right position.
Joshua White
I know but I don't have the Andy only one
Christian Reed
You've just said you don't like a mechanic and followed it up with something that isn't true on a basic level, though it does vary by game.
You do not for example get hardcore slow grapplers because every character can run and has a lot of movement options, and can roll etc to deal with fireballs. So, you don't get the super skewed kind of matchup of gief v guile because of the basic mechanics. For that reason characters don't get super locked into one way for playing generally, though some are obviously much better at some things than others.
Eli Howard
I just need Kim and Shermie
Luke Morales
KOF is a bit more closer to weebfighters than SF. It's quite hard to turtle or keep spamming fireballs around, not mention that gamespeed is somewhat fast with XI being the fastest on franchise.
I miss dreamcancels.
Brayden Roberts
>KOF is a bit more closer to weebfighters than SF. I disagree on that as well. Setplay is typically not strong in KoF nor is oki in general outside of safejumps in some games.
The very modern games (13 and 14) have had very janky anti air games, but it is still a series where neutral is the most important. It's nowhere near the levels of jank and gorilla shit as your typical arcsys game is or honeslty even SFV.
Even in those later games, characters like King were extremely good and were highly defensive. 14 favored defensive play too much which is why I think it's bad (which I won't go into) and why fireballs had to be nerfed heavily both pre and post release.
Owen Brown
Luong a cute. And hot as fuck
William Butler
oh gee better lighting and slight shading what an update!
Hudson Gomez
nigger you are probably thinking on the early 2000s when most cabs were being replaced by ghetto MAME cabs and then Xbox cabs, but back in the 90s, SF2CE was common as hell, tough granted it was the Rainbow Edition which was even on Big arcades.
Carter Diaz
Just keep it if it’s not 2D Nobody wants another PS2 fighter for 60$. Nobody. Not even people who like KOF.
Josiah Rogers
I'm sure it's CPS2.
Cooper Young
He's a Mexican. King of Fighters is in their blood.
Dylan Moore
No. It actually released in this condition.
Jaxon Robinson
I hope you've developed calluses in your thumbs and fingers by now. Its a requirement to play properly.
you should, and probably could, but the question is, would you
Joseph Perez
how many people actually use those autocombos even i sure as hell don't unless it's goro and that's usually by accident
Robert Davis
yeah, they want an snes game like kofxiii for 60 dollars instead, and then they'll never actually play it still but they'll claim that it's the most godlike part of the franchise t. spritefag shitter
Ethan Richardson
I've seen combos in that game that took forever, dont know how long are bnbs though, still im not touching that shit, plus the artstyle got way too anime and anime players go to hell
Lucas Thompson
PLB always had the best music for his edits.
Cooper Howard
Any of you wanna play some XIV?
Cameron Perry
:)
Charles Williams
on what?
Juan Fisher
Either.
Colton Nguyen
are you kman if so we just played last night but i can still go
Wyatt Harris
where the FUCK is capcom vs snk 3 i'll even settle for a remaster of 2
Capcom invented the cancer DLC model for fighting games. No one used to do it until they did it and it worked because they had a massive cult of fighting game players eating up their shit.
>Dead already >Hit physics are awful >Running/walking feels like they're on fucking ice >Not even old fans of the series continue to play/like this shit >3D models still look like hot garbage Alright
>14 favored defensive play too much which is why I think it's bad Are you really gonna complaint about that where most fighting games nowadays are all offense-heavy?
Austin Ortiz
No, I play AND jerk off after.
Parker Reyes
Bnbs are twice or even thrice as short. Outsiders really tend to exaggerate combo length in this game.
Chase Clark
>after >not dropping your load on shitters both literally and figuratively during the match I knew Yea Forums was casual but come on
Landon Collins
My main gripe with XIV is how they tried to go the 2002 route but ended up doing a worse job than XIII since you can do a lot of damage easily with little resources, in XIII at least if you spent your shit you had to wait a while to earn all that again.
At least the broken stuff in 2002 wasn't as easy to execute.
Grayson Ramirez
One of my main gripe with XIII was how shit did less damage than 98 unless you had a bunch of meters. I like my game high damage/short but powerful combos. Thankfully, Samsho is back.
Brayden Adams
Yeah, missing a purist non max mode KoF but everyone is on the touch of death bandwagon so that won't ever happen unless Garou 2 somehow happens.
Michael Carter
I forgot to say that I preferred the way XIV did it compared to XIII.
Yes because the reason it was offense heavy was because Max was very badly designed and made any sort of commitment absurdly dangerous in a similar way to third strike
And the other reason it's bad is because they fucked up how anti air hitboxes should work and how run pressure should work - in that neither work right at all. I won't go too much into this as it would be a massive post and I think you posted ages ago, but basically the game had a slower speed at release and higher jump height. They changed the game to be more like 13 in pace and jump height, but did not adjust normals and ground pressure to match, which just made 'fundamental' KoF pressure dysfunctional and you had to rely on randomly poking into max mode or character specific pressure, which where it did exist was also very retarded.
Justin Myers
Where do King and her defensive play come into play?
Lucas Foster
>base roster of 50 >includes even a fucking pachislot mascot >still no decent Metal Slug character
