The state of starsector

The more updates this game gets, the easier it becomes. First we got subspace which allows some bullshit maneuvers and non-risk moneymaking. Then removed the typhoon bombers and nerfed pirate patrols because noobs couldnt handle them. Now we got colonies which 100% propels even the blackest negro in to the late game, no skill required. Skills too are OP and making no risk money has finally been implemented

Starsector at this point is a casualized version of modded starfarer. I dont even regocnize the game anymore

i love this new wave of starsector threads, bless sseth

Just bought it thanks to the Top Yeetster Meme Lord (HeyHey People) Sseth, get rekt Starfarer Boomers. Anyone got any tips or shall I go in Blind?

people even flammed the lad because of that video...but here we are, life at starsector

>Skills too are OP
don't worry those are getting changed with dumbdumbs in mind too.

Don't forget ship salvage that allows you to cherry pick multiple ships from deserter bounties. Don't need marines and hope the one ship you want outside of the whole enemy fleet will be available for a boarding attempt.

bongo man

Eh, id suggest going in blind.

(that said, never sell a blueprint unless you are in dire straits)

Although they let you store at your first station, hedgemoney will still charge you a monthly fee per item. you can find an abandoned terraforming station to store your stuff at for free.

old boarding was fucking cancer, I will not miss it regardless of difficulty drop

he did make some controversial decisions in it.
And there's also the fact that he has a history of essentially disturbing quiet/fun games with his reddit tier meme le ebin cringe army.

Atleast starsector is single player and thus your enjoyment cant really be ruined by his brainrot fans.

is making money still far too easy?

We're at the point you can print ships and weapons while you print money. You have to restrict yourself and/or do spacer start to make it harder.

I meant more in terms of early game. You do a couple of survey missions on the edge of space and now you're a millionaire. The pacing in the game in general just feels too fast.

Oh early game. Not Volturn food shortage fast but still too much for its own good if you know what to do. Waiting to see what else is coming next update.

How do I cope with being a shit fucking pilot?

Attached: cat in pan.jpg (700x933, 101K)

You now need to invest millions to make millions

Let the AI pilot for you, it's actually pretty decent

Why does this game run like ABSOLUTE FUCKING SHIT?
Whenever there's a battle involving more than 15 ships I get sub-20 FPS.
This is fucking bullshit. My PC can run any new game on high with zero problems, but chokes on this piece of shit.
Fucking Java faggotry.

Work on my machine

Attached: 1487930589896.png (1110x1080, 912K)

Why is this old game getting threads again? Did some zoomer e-celeb make a video on it?

Do you need to specifically buy a salvage ship for that?

What are your system specs?

yes

Half a million views.

500 GIGABYTES hard drive

lol

You probably dont have enough RAM POWER

i hope heyheypeople does edf 5 next

Its mechwarrior

Just lucky. There used to be a skill to increase the chance of getting a boarding option since that wasn't even guaranteed. The one good thing about ship recovery now is you can make a huge junker fleet operating (D) ships with minimal penalty thanks to some industry skills.

>hurr durr money maing is too easy and risk-free
Meanwhile here I am 6 months into the game running trade missions that parely pay for fuel and supplies and losing my starting wolf and my 40k freighter to pirates with fucking cruisers and carriers.
I unironically think 90% of the money I made this game were from Hegemony stipend.

Keep your fleet small, do bar contract/exploration missions, explore and do Hybrasil-Yma drug runs
Works even with spacer start, already did it multiple times with success

Gitgud

What should I be looking for in terms of fleet upgrades? I bought two undamaged wolves and a centurion so far, also repaired my hammerhead. Other than that my only real combat potential ships are the starting Wayfarer combat freighter and a damaged condor carrier

Attached: fleet.jpg (1920x1080, 620K)

Post shipgirls
does anyone have the link for the SS shipgirl google folder?

Get more carriers. Just get carriers, few missile boats and ships to tank at frontlines if you want to do combat. Smaller auxiliries are a liability in a fight so you dont even want to deploy them

The devs want to dumb down the game? Damn.

there is only one answer

Attached: screenshot069.png (1920x1080, 686K)

This does not exclude him from being a zoomer idiot.

Me in the middle 3rd row.
Is Onslaught even good? Don't have the reputation for it anyway, but the stats look kinda shit.

Are condors decent carriers?

I could assrape both of those fleets with one Medusa.
>how to kill fleets ten times your size the ship

Attached: Medusa_shield.png (300x240, 42K)

wow user you could assrape the starting junk fleet of someone who has no idea what he's doing
impressive

zoomer man bad
me word good

What's the medium-big Hegemony patrol ship with a blue laser in front and an almost full circle shield called? Looks based as fuck.

Damaged ships don't automatically make them unuseable and in my experience trying to restore ships earlygame is financial suicide. You could easily wreck early game fleet bounties with that, so maybe try that. If so, try to add more ships in comaprison to the bounty fleets you come across, adding more destroyers and cruisers(should they start showing up).
While doing that I recommend taking missions for scanning research stations (since they're bound to have some blueprints) and scanning good planets(jungle, terran etc). After that, if you have good enough money then you're set for starting a colony.

more carriers, a few enforcers to hold the line after that

prenerf medusa was a fucking GOD

If you have half a brain and have a shitfit with shields on 24/7 then no. If you fit it properly and know how to properly manage flux it's a powerful anvil/ram that can punch holes in battlelines or hold it.

According to whose definition, the one you pulled out your ass?

how do I fire an adminstrator? I got one after exploring some ruins but I dont have any colonies

No, the one that you pulled out of yours.

equip the onslaught with long range ballistic explosive/kinetic weapons
then load cycle reaper slots into all 4 missile slots

Literally the best vanilla capital in the game, has massive burst damage potential while being able to fight anything else (even multiple targets at once)

Onslaught is like playing Mechwarrior. Flux is almost only used as a firepower limit on that ship and managing it is about managing the outgoing damage you need to bully other ships into submission before they can threaten you. It's a really cool feeling.

She still is, though not much of a crutch anymore.
The point is that instead of relying on loq quality, high quantity its better for early game to get one expensive ship and wreck havoc with it.

>The point is that instead of relying on loq quality, high quantity its better for early game to get one expensive ship and wreck havoc with it.
I'll send you an email as soon as I find a medusa

If it's a big blue one it's called the sunder. A destroyer with a large energy mount, the Sunder is a glass cannon(close range burst or a long range beam kiter) that punchs very hard which is augmented with it's ship system.

Bruh fuck the trade missions, just do the normal trade, it's piss easy. Press F1 on the trade good while being in range of comm relay to see the best prices around the sector. Literally BUY LOW SELL HIGH.
Trade on the black market only, just make sure to have nothing illegal on you then leaving the port to dab on patrols in broad daylight while dropping off ~500 stacks of drugs.
When trading with pirates and pathers just turn the transponder off. And you don't even got to fight shit, just assemble moreratly large junk fleet and you will spook most of the pirate bands off.

Attached: 1562244398837.png (512x385, 212K)

user get out of my mind.
But yeah, turning on/off weapon groups is quite like battletech on that ship.

Attached: Revelation.png (100x100, 16K)

Go into the command tab.

with carrier support it’s the best spearhead to break formations fast. just remember, your shields are a last resort, you need the flux for nonstop artillery

>pirate fleet attacks me
>most of their larger ships are regular freighters
>the rest are combat freighters and regular tankers
>every smaller ship consists of frigates and drone tenders

Attached: 1543414311502.png (442x396, 153K)

Thanks
Also, what's a good planet or system to set up a storage space?

Has much changed from the new 9x version? Should I start a new game or is there room for improving this?

Attached: fleetdesu.png (2600x1488, 1.74M)

What are the best fleet compositions you can make from the tutorial ship graveyard?

corvus has a free one at the abandoned platform

Medusa

Attached: SS Fleet.png (1920x1080, 537K)

If you didn't find any good planets yet go scan some planets in duzhhak or penelope's star, there should be at least one arid planet with barren farmland(or possibly more). As long as the planet hostility modifier isn't crazy high plop down on one of the planet that has some resources(be it farmland, ores, organics, etc).
If you just want literally free storage like says, the abandoned mining platform is completely free to store your shit in. Btw there's a free hermes(d) in there which is quite useful for spacer start games.

they will do the job as long as you don’t put them at risk

No instead these threads are getting actual fucking contrarians you see in every other popular game on Yea Forums.

Can you change what kind of weapons you can put on a ship?

I did mass it once for fun and it was glorious, shame I didnt take a screenshot of the slow wave of doom traversing the map

Yes, unless the ship has a built in weapon(ex: twin TPC om the onslaught, flak cannons on the monitor) on a particular location, those are free and unremoveable.
Those are more of an exception anyway so it's fine to consider the answer to be a 'yes'.

SHIELD is for WEAK and COWARD
SHOOT is for STRONG and BRAVE

you mean like putting an energy weapon on a ballistic mount or similar? no, those are permanent. your best bet is ginding a variant of that ship with changed mounts, if it’s a vanilla ship there’s probably a mod out there with a version of the opposite tech

So I've noticed that Wolves that are for sale all seem to be "Hegemony" type, while the starting one was "High Tech". Is this thing random, or are different types sold by different nations? Is the difference noticeable (obviously not talking about pirate shit with 5 d-mods).

yeah that's what i meant thanks

If you're autistic enough, you just make your own. It's easy.

Can someone tell me how I make a faction stop hating me?
I'm doing bounty missions to better my standing with the hegemony but I don't get any reward.
is this because I turned my transponder off doing the attacks?

Attached: 1556375549350.jpg (650x488, 32K)

Torpedo ships any good? Piloting a fast and small frigate that can blow up bigger ships with massive torpedo hits sounds cool.

only if you know what you are doing and have missile specialization. if you do tho, they are insane

My favorite thing to do. Get a pack of wolves and fuck shit up with torpedos. Sadly, it is only a transitional phase as the end game really makes frigates useless and focus on huge slow ships only.

Attached: new logh1.webm (720x480, 2.97M)

Grab everything then drag the rustbucket fleet to the planet and sort your shit out with more crew and repairs there.

If it doesn't have a particular hullmod it's mostly cosmetic. When in doubt just click on/hover over the question mark in the fleet screen and see if any values are shown to be modified(green with plus or red with minus numbers). If it doesn't or does not have any built in free hullmods it's purely cosmetic.

if you outside of communication range you get reward when you8 get back into range

Doing bounty missions for hostile factions will raise their standing but will not yield rewards until you get better rep with them.
Attacking a neautral/friendly faction's fleet with transponders off will net you up to -5 rep depending on how much shit you wreck. Fighting them with transponders on will instantly turn them hostile(the game even reminds you of this should you do it.
Also if you shoot a non hostile faction fleet with transponders off, and turn on the transponder while in detection range it will reveal your identity and turn them hostile(and the transponder icon will flash red to indicate this). Just dont try to shoot nonhostile fleets, and if you do try to fuck off and come back later.

Fleet bounty/exploration mission rewards are instantly given apon completion of objectives.

It is possible but requires some distraction and good piloting. Some ships are very resistant to strike weapons however, due to exceptional PD coverage or wide, fully covering/omni shields, or particular ship systems.

does it matter if i'm docking on the planet or the orbital station?

Just grab everything you can. No reason not to.

you're a wagie irl aren't you

Won't that slow my shit down?

Is it worth playing

Yes. Refitting in space can cause massive CR penalties depending on how much you shift around(which means more supllies wasted=more money lost)
The exception is when you fuck around with a just salvaged ship since it's at 0/20% CR from being blown up.
Also you can do instant repairs/CR recovery at dock.

Oh you mean on docking at the station or planet. Nope, there's no difference.

You'll lose most of the trash against the pirates around the wormhole.

CG is so bad.

Just mothball whatever until you get back to the planet. Maybe sell off the kite and tanker because who the fuck cares.
You shouldn't lose much if you peel one fleet off like the guy tells you to. Transponder off, go dark, pull away once one of the fleets chases after you, then slam the engines on and engage once the other fleet's out of range.

>tfw you find and recover capital ships in the middle of nowhere

Yep, it's a westacuck game alright.

People have always hated him either because they dislike seeing Yea Forums memes somewhere else or they were offended by his sometimes edginess. Also the small game communities that he sometimes talks about always hate being flooded by newfags, but honestly that's a necessary evil if you want your community to survive. His taste in games is too good for me to hate him personally.

>Yea Forums is playing videogames again
First time I see that since Atom RPG released.

It's slav game tho.

Some slavs are westernized. It's like a disease.

Not much difference then, both are cucks

Fake news.
Alex, despite having slav parents is himself American. He was born in USA to Russian parents. Then he and his parents moved to Russia during his childhood and adolescense. Now he's back in US.

Just use anime portraits.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING

> try to defend against the pirates, have to throw every ship i have at them, to the point of putting navigation beacons on the salvage rigs to get the small %bonus speed.
> civilian ship AI tards out and doesn't want to be aggressive; it retreats until it dies
> one unit decides "opposite side of the map" is a good distance for "avoid"
> my flagship decides to turn the whole fucking hull around so its point defenses can track one ROCKET, THAT MISSED, to kill the ROCKET, THAT MISSED, THAT WON'T HIT SHIT, and turn so much the main guns are no longer on target
> literally watch the unit spin in fucking space trying to target anything
> just spinning in a circle like a fucking retard
if i paid $15 for this NPC tard clapper fest i would actually be angry. (thx sseth)

the meta i can see so far is:
- speed is god. if you're slow you're dead. don't have a booster? eat salvage.
- shield is the guardian angel who gives and who takes; if your ship doesn't have shields, IT'S SCUTTLE TIME
- outnumber the enemy. just fucking deathball them like it was a doomstack in MoO
- unless you have literally 1 million or more credits, don't start a colony.
- fuck pirates
i didn't even meet the luddites terrorists yet

The Ssethtide was a pretty significant event for most SS13 servers (it was fun though, to relive the days of the great Greytide once again).

what about this then?

Attached: LoGH.png (1597x811, 1.25M)

You have to come to terms with the fact that the main aspect of this game that is holding back new players from coming in is its difficulty curve and various unforgiving mechanics. The devs know this, you know this so lets all not pretend we dont know what they're doing with these changes.

Attached: KdVKijJ.gif (500x194, 1.98M)

>The Ssethtide was
It still is. SS13 didn't have 1k+ players before the video.

This pic just reminds me that circuses are dead in the US.

>Be bad

I'm not very far in but I already don't want to lose my save file for starting over with mods

do factions claim other star systems?
the amount of colonies in my starsector is very small like 4 colonies per faction.

Attached: images.jpg (215x235, 13K)

Only with mods.

these are pretty good desu
link?

Just killed all the pirates around the relay and am about go out into the big world, what should I do next?
Also is there a way to repair the permanent damage on the ships? I kind of like them and want to keep them.

Attached: screenshot000.png (1920x1080, 439K)

>Also is there a way to repair the permanent damage on the ships?
yes
restore option(bottom) when in space dock
it cost lot of cash tho

Attached: screenshot104.png (1920x1080, 1.17M)

if you go to the refit screen in the lower left there's restore. It costs a lot though and should only really be used for rare and unique ships, restoring a ship is usually more expensive then just buying a factory new one. There's a perk under industry that reduces the effect of d-mods though

Attached: Base Profile Screenshot 2019.07.28 - 00.05.27.91.png (1920x1080, 1M)

If you get enough dosh early through trading it's probably worth to refit your hammerhead/wolf

>everyone knows where you are and knows where your colony is
This makes me so fucking pissed. I only wanted to build my own secret pirate haven for organizing my raids but what's the point if everyone instantly knows and visits you anyway.

How's neutrino? Never played with it before.

just build defenses la. High Command with a tier 2 or 3 orbital station is unbeatable

Do as the station man said and go to jangala. Go contact the authority to complete the storyline.
If you want to shoot stuff I recommend the following:
>Go into intel screen
>select bounty screen
>start going after fleets that have a destroyer with some frigates
>salvage ships you can find, bigger the better, but don't salvage shieldless ships at the moment
>keep growing and go up the bounty chain
Or
>find a contract from bars or missions from the intel screen
>get about 150k worth of money
>go to hybrasil and smuggle drugs/supply/fuel from the freeport planet(the one with the free market) to Qaras in the Yma system(right next door)
>go back to hybrasil and repeat with other pirate planets if needed
>lots of monies

Oh you mother fuckers!

Attached: screenshot001.png (1920x1080, 1.01M)

>hybrasil
Is that some kind of afghan-like opium heaven with unlimited drugs?

Post loadouts.

This one is quite nice if you don't have shields up 24/7. Become a fountain of bullets and hammer torpedoes, be the anvil in which ships smash against you in vain.
*success not guranteed if pilot doesn't know how to deal with HE/Beam ships

Why the heck are you trying to restore in eaely game anyway? It's perfectly fine to fly Dmod riddled ships.

Attached: screenshot010.png (1024x755, 749K)

is there anything i can do about the shit controls? just played the tutorial and i'm about to flush it.

alright lads get this
onslaught and legionbut high-tech

Attached: abominations.jpg (863x572, 215K)

It's Brazil.

under options click the shift invert thing so the ship points to the cursor. the stanard controls is only really useful for broadside ships

It's a Tri-tachyon planet with light industry and free market. Therefore it produces good amount of drugs, with almost 400+ units of drugs found regularly in the black market.

Go to the options and toggle the 'invert shift to strafe control' or something like that. It makes your ship point towards your mouse in default and gets changed to turn controls when you press shift.

>nosteam

But is the game fun and worth playing?

This one is nice as well. It's a good idea to put harpoons in the sides and squalls on the front if you want an AI friendly ship; if you give it something like, say, hammer barrage on front and sabot pods on the side, it will only fire sabots at very close ranges in the hands of an AI. Which isn't really a problem if it's player controlled though. Two railguns ensure shieldpiercing capabilities in case you run out of squalls first over HE weapons. Dual flak and vulcans provides nice AA capability along with IPDAI further enhancing it.

Attached: screenshot011.png (1024x755, 338K)

Im trying to do a bounty, it says the target is "near the primary star". Does that mean the biggest star i,e a red giant?

Has the game been updated since last December? My version is from back then.

The game was always meant to be a casual experience OP. The devs want to make money, why would they turn their game into an autist simulator like Dwarf Fortress or Mount and Blade when they can dumb down the experience for casual players who like to have sex?

The one that's dominant in its orbit.

it get small update

You dumbass motherfucker, where do you think "zoomer" comes from?

Do I need a colony to get more hullmods?

No. You either get them from ruins(and tech mining said ruins)/research stations/markets or from combat skills, and finally as rare loot if a ship with that hullmod was in the enemy flert.

no? just fine blueprints of them, buy them from shops, or learn them through leveling up and picking talents that have them

Should I get a new Condor?

>M&B
>not casual
pick one

If you have the money for it and fighter LPCs then sure I don't see why not. I prefer drovers for destroyer-class carriers though, reserve deployment is great.

>just fine blueprints of them, buy them from shop
Oh I'm retarded. I've been seeing those and thinking "those are probably for when you get a colony"
Also the enforcer seems really strong though I'm not sure if this loadout is any good. Did well in simulation at least

Attached: enforcer.jpg (1920x1080, 587K)

This game's multiplayer would be amazing if it existed. I really can't wrap my head around why Alex is so adamant in not having it.

Just cooping alone would make it worth it.

Attached: 1550445668401.gif (236x250, 1.47M)

ship blueprints are for colonies, hullmod blueprints can be used anytime.

is there a max level for your character?

50

Moreover, that can be easily modded out if you so wish with a simple txt change.

why is this not on steam?

Attached: 1509461271223.jpg (640x852, 138K)

flying bricks are really nice ships
esp if you give them good officer

not finished
also issue with modders being against it

Replacing the HVD in the middle with a heavy mauler would put you very similar to the 'elite' loadout. Mounting lighter missiles in favor of more stufg is something I do for enforcers, reaper torpedoes are great for this.
Wait. Anyway, adding a source of High explosive damage that isn't ammo limited would round out this loadout nicely. HVDs can break a ship if given time but it won't be killing ships quick on it's own(should it's rockets run out)

why are they against it?

steam workshop, autoupdates and copyright issues
something else probably

Muh workshop is too much trouble.

Alex legit lost a ton of sales from this video and people not wanting to put their CC information on a random website, not to mention international customers that rely on Steam. His decision to keep the game not there is really hurting his sales at this point.

Because the game operates on two different time scales in and out of combat, something incompatible with multiplayer. Also, it would double the development time and we see how slow it already is.
Modders have voiced concern about the Workshop, but otherwise have nothing against a Steam release.

i want it but if its not on steam i wont buy it. i hate having games in random fodlers everywhere like its 1998. i like consolidated library

It will be, "when it's done"

Any cool mecha mods for this game? Are there any games like this with a focus on mechs?

Attached: 1564787379617.gif (540x540, 1.26M)

use gog galaxy then

Brigador and Battletech are probably what come the closest with mechs, the former on the combat layer, the latter for the campaign.

I feel like the game has done nothing but get better and i've been playing since 2014. There's nothing stopping people from modding the game to be harder. If you don't like skills you can edit the max skill level and XP multiplier for leveling in 30 seconds.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ALEX IS RUINING THE GAME

I don't want to go hunting for the right text file, while one has the max level value?

Where the fuck do I get a Hammerhead

In "starsector-core\data\config\settings.json" look for the "playerMaxLevel":40," value, you can change it to what you want your max level to be.

did you not do the tutorial?

Just check the markets, larger ones for better chances. Hammerheads should be easy to find.

So it's gonna be one of those game, eh?

When should I look at creating colonies?

Just let it happen.

when you have a million+ credits, a decent fleet, and an alpha core or 2.

As soon as getting half a million if you can secure a steady income and you found a great planet, 1-2 millions if you want some padding.

This new blood better create some good mods. Remember to use Blackrock as the gold standard.

Attached: 1564693323776.jpg (408x408, 18K)

What are the best faction mods to have? I just grabbed a few at random. Imperium, Neutrino, Diablo Aviation, Shadowyards. A lot of the ships in some of these modpacks look like they should have aliens piloting them.

Also, does anyone have the Ora portrait pack? it looked neat but I couldn't find a download link on the Starsector forum.

I dont know man, I dont think my current girl likes these "advances"

They don't call it alpha for nothing.

You can add the shortcut to your steam library probably. I've heard you can do that to non-steam games.

>There are folks with combat ships bigger than Destroyers
>At most carrier cruisers are fine.
You're not a big ship shitter are you?

As far as I know only faction-specific ships are capital sized ones. Faction tend to prefer specific tech though, for midline stuff check sindrian diktat and to lesser extent persean league.

wew, thats a lot of ships

i personally fancy Legion chan

Do you pilot a ship or just let autopilot handle everything in battle?

what's the tiniest ship that can fit large hardpoints?

You can take em!

Can you rename your ships?

Nice loadout.

i am bad so i put all weapons on auto and only control missiles and movement

Mudskipper Mk II
I dare you to main it motherfucker.

Fucking manlets just don't learn!

Blackrock is literally the best mod for the game.

>Using carriers

It's the equivalent of running the game on easy mode. I really don't see the appeal of them, they make the entire game dull.

>1x large ballistics
lmao I'm gonna buy 20 of them when I find them

Damn you autofit!

It now has some serious competition with the Interstellar Imperium though.

The spritework doesn't even compare.

>system has high class planets
>close to sector center
>only one spot for an orbital
>has domain era sensor relay
>need comms to get the colonies to not shit themselves
I-I'm sorry buddy

does the crack jbe .jar method work anymore?

jesus christ what the fuck. All those fleets and sensor contacts are pirates

Should I buy 2 Hammerheads for ~80K or 1 Dominator for 120K?

>already got 500k and a respectable fleet
alright time to restart with mods before I get too invested into this

>large system with quality gas giant, volcanic with massive amounts of ore, 3 fucking habitables with 150ish hazard rating
>close to core
>no orbital slots

I'm buying it. Thing is, they ask for VAT % in the ordering form. How fucked am I if I just put 0%? My country has +20% VAT. I'd save four bucks.

dropbox.com/s/5k41z8ahuj4mr8c/Oga Portrait Pack v1.2.7z

I don't know, BRDY spritework is all over the place: with both sharp pixelart with black outlines next to blurry stuff, sometimes on the same ship. But yes the best of Blackrock is miles ahead of II.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA IT STILL FUCKING WORK HAHAHAHAHAH YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING RETARD
WHY DO YOU EVEN SHILL YOUR STUPID GAME HERE IF YOU HAVEN'T FIXED THE EASIEST WAY TO FUCKING CRACK OUT THE RETARDED AUTHENTICATION SHIT
YOU FUCKING NIGGER, THANKS FOR THE FREE GAME!

Just crack it

are randomly generated sectors better for custom faction modded games?

What would be the point of fixing it if you won't buy it anyway?

YOU FUCKING NIGGER I LITERALLY CRACKED THIS SHIT IN 20 SECONDS USING THE OLD METHOD
STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THIS, IT HAS BEEN 4 YEARS ALREADY HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA

it doesn't matter really. All the faction mods add in their own planets usually towards the rim of the core sector.

That's called tax evasion, user.
It's illegal.
Just crack it like everyone else.

Did you just discover Yea Forums last week and are trying to fit in?

i'd grab the dominator, set those wolves to escort it or something when it goes to fight so it has some speedy backup

Back to Yea Forums

Tarsus, Buffalo and Colossus.

why so mad

where the fuck do you get officers
bars?

grab some buffalos or something and put that extra fuel capacity mod in them they still have decent burn rates and hold a good amount of stuff

Is it possible to start completely from zero with one ship and basic guns? I'm overwhelmed.

Does this game have an ending?

Comm directory. If you want more aggressive officers check Luddic and Pirate bases, you can still hire officers even if the faction they're hanging around in are hostile to you.

ayyy u got assblasted :D

oh i thought the comm directory was exclusively for handing in assignments

which mods should i get to make it better? right now im trying archeon order. is it good? if not what should i get instead...

Just a random question but i was out scavenging and found a synchrotron core, is it worth selling? 500k seems like quite a lot but idk how rare these are. (im level 4)

keep it, much more valuable long term

Yeah just pick a start and sell all your other ships.

it depends. If you're planning on start a colony absolutely keep it and put it in storage. If you have no intrest in colonies then I guess you can sell it.

it's hard to say because just about all of them are really good. i don't know shit about archeon order though, i've never tried that one

is he alright

he is an hero

>Forced to use Winrar
I-Is 7zip this SHIT?

Keep being a shit pilot until you're a bad pilot.
Keep being a bad pilot until you're an ok pilot.

winrar is a meme
ofc use 7zip you dumdum

Keep being an OK pilot until you plateau and flounder back to being a bad pilot.

You don’t even need to extract files anymore. JBE can dig to the file, unless you’re retarded and can’t figure out how to click your mouse.

In my opiniom this doesn't play much into the strengths of the Falcon(P). It's got 4 potential medium missiles with 2 small missile and two energy, it's better fit for a strike role as the built in UI reduces ranges anyway.
So something like this works great:
>two sabot pods at front
>two cyclone reapers on medium turrets
>two harpoon racks at small hardpoints
>two AM blaster at small turrets
>expanded missile racks
>omni shield emitter(if possible, gives defense against salamander missiles)
>add more hullmods and vents as preferred, just adding 17ish OP to vents is fine
Will easily kill capitals outright if piloted manually, and AI will actually do hit and run tactics and succeed with it due to the speed and ship system. It won't hold lines by itself(due to the nature of missiles and AM blaster) and is susceptible to strikecraft swarms(no non-strike weapon) but very powerful if used well. When in doubt spam carriers with wasps to cover them.

>unless you’re retarded and can’t figure out how to click your mouse.
this is problem i have yes
how do i click mouse?
wat is mouse?

WHICH MODS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS GAME?

Well, the path to mastery in pretty much everything involves figuring out you're bad and why you're bad and correcting it with practice.

1000 crew limit(buy nebula/mudskippers if needed), one million in pocket, spare 100 heavy machinery.
Also pre scanned potential colonies ready to be colonized

This is why you have a special Drive that holds only games no matter how many game folders you have.
Why are people so dumb nowadays?

Manual always. AI will soak hits when you could let it graze past you for no damage.
It's the difference between eating 16 hammers and none. Or 4 reapers and none. Or 2/3d of bombs and 1/8th. Or a gauss rifle shot. Or a hellbore shot. Any near misses really can be dodged with simple shield control if your ship is slim enough.

I know it's not optimal but my fleet isn't big enough yet to turn it into a strikecraft and properly support it. The pilot has missiles on lvl 3 so the missile boat approach has worked until now. I hate how sabot racks with missiles bays run out mid combat because they don't come with 50+ ammo preloaded

Is "dormant remnant fleet, hostile" bad?
Also is there any use for a corrupted nanoforge or do I sell it?

Pirate raids can be absolutely deadly if you aren't prepared.
That said, you can usually carve through them with minimal or no losses, if you fit your ships well, and do well piloting yourself. A well piloted capital will really fuck them over with minor support.

all of them

I see. Okay then. If you need a stopgap measure you can do the kinetic-HE thing with the two composite turrets as well. Like heavy AC with heavy mortars.

>dormant
No, unless you attack it yourself and have a shit fleet.
Nanoforges are a colony thing. If you build heavy industry you can throw nanoforges in it to increase production and raise ship quality of your faction's fleets(less D mods)
Of course if you dont plan on doing colony stuff selling it is fine. Just be aware that if the market has heavy industry with no forges it will equip it apon you selling it on the market.

Blew all my money on a babbys first decent looking fleet, can I dab on some pirates for bounties with this? I don't really understand how combat works when ships are very different in size (i.e. destroyer vs 5 frigates).

Attached: screenshot002.png (1366x768, 242K)

Does Nexerelin mess up the whole "start your own colony!" stuff in any way? Or is it pretty much compatible?

I'm trying to decide if I should build a vanilla colony before enabling Nexerelin. I enjoyed Nex a lot when I last played, but that was before the base game supported colonization.

Could probably dab on a pirate bounty woth 1 dessie and few frigs, and handle one with two destroyers and few frigs with some careful kiting. Any more is pushing the safety limit, especially with the lack of your own frigates.

eh, you could do 50k bounties but I would say to just do system bounties and derelict survey missions for now until you get a second destroyer or more frigates

>That free 15k you get every month
What the fuck lol

Assuming I have money to spare, what is better: a few carriers with fighter bays, or a shitton of frigates? What counters what in general? Fighters win over frigates, right?

With your current set up? frigates. Once you have a solid front line of a few destroyers and maybe a cruiser then carriers become worth it since you can protect them and keep them out of danger. The problem with frigates is that in medium sized engagements or larger they'll almost certainty get destroyed due to concentrated fire and fighter swarms

Is there a lore reason why some factions have such a hate boner for alpha ai?
it's done nothing but help improve my planets

Depends on the size of the engagement, once super heavy ships show up they will shit on all your frigets in one second. Frigates need space to fight so once it becomes walls of ships slamming into walls of ships BASIC frigates become worthless.

But until then, pound for pound frigates are better then fighters

Why do people get butthurt when you're flying with transponders off if they can't fucking protect their own system
Eat a fucking dick I'm tired of being ganked out of some asteroid belt because the """""""hegemony""""""" can't get its shit together.
Also always sell shit on the black market, these fucks don't deserve my money if they can't protect me.

It's terrible day for rain.

AI wars

Jelly non Tri-tachyons and brainlets

Which sector age should I choose?

>it's done nothing but help improve my planets
lol. There was a war between Hegemony and Tri-tachyon which resulted in Hegemony BTFOing the tri-jews. Hegemony sees itself as the successor to the domain and the domain outlaws AI cores cause they didn't trust them (for good reasons). Also have you seen a fucking fully operational [REDACTED] battlestation? Imagine if that shit was more common, there would be no hope for humanity.

t. ancap pro

Same reason why people are butthurt about real life planes flying without transponders.

Because you can't see shit when flying at such speeds and you need to know about each other so you wouldn't crash.

ALL the civ hate ai cores though not just hegemony allies

yea, because hegemony outlawed it and they have the biggest dick in the sector. If you read the dialogue when turning in AI cores to other factions you'll see they don't really give a shit and still use them on the down low.

Alright. Do I also need a "tank" ship to draw fire, or will it not work this way in a real engagement? The way I imagine this to work is some armored coffin tanking enemy fire while my carriers and frigates harass them and I take my sweet time personally aiming Sunder's dank cannon.

Its not going to play out like that, there is no such thing as a tank ship

against small pirate bounties it doesn't really matter, the battles will be fast and loose. You don't really need an anchor ship, an eagle will sealclub destroyers and frigates and still "tank" damage pretty well despite not being specifially designed for it.

This game is shallow af. Elite Dangerous has way more depth, and coming from that to this, it feels god awful.

are the [REDACTED] fighter LPCs any good? I've tried them out and while they don't seem bad, the only real benefit over proper fighters is the lack of pilots but I mean crew is cheap and replaceable so losses don't matter too much.

There are a limited number of ships that can consistently absorb a lot of damage. Monitor frigates and Paragon can shield tank if they keep their ship system active for sometime but one is a niche escort frigate, the other is a high tech capital ship. Usually frontline ships that draw fire end up as low tech cruisers like the Venture or Dominator with decent PD, extra hull and armor mods. That way they won't die instantly at the front, but they're still vulnerable to strike and high damage HE weapons.

When should I start thinking about starting a colony? I cant find anything other than desert and barren worlds.

How so? All I hear from ED is that it's space trucking simulator. If you mean the economy remember that Starsector is primarily a combat game.

Sparks used to be murder machines, they're still decent interceptors from what I recall. Lux are okay, they provide a good amount of flares to cover themselves or bomber wings to avoid flak. Flash wings are neat in that they're bombers with an AoE weapon that clear fighter and missile groups on contact.

nice system

Attached: 1556069375833.png (1920x1080, 120K)

ED was one of the most boring games i've ever played in my life, it's a straight downgrade from the old shit i played when i was 10

I go with mixed because I can't decide between habitable or resource heavy worlds. It isn't a big deal but older sectors may help you find a place to settle that isn't a glowing rock.

Combat:
-Way more loadout options
-ability to target subsystems
-power management
-subsystem priorities (engines/shields/weapon capacitors)
-countermeasures
-stealth system
-interesting environments- asteroid belt/gravity near planets
-can have someone else be your gunner
Factions:
-comprehensive faction system, globally simulated
-factions have more states, complex relations to other star systems
-plenty of missions that all affect those involved
Trading:
-complex relations between star systems
-bilateral trade seen easily on galaxy map

Just a few that I could think of straight away, there's probably a lot more.

Welcome new sector friends, we've been waiting

Attached: Conquest Large Battle.webm (960x540, 2.98M)

Elite dangerous has exactly no depth. You make money to buy the biggest ship and then you're done. There's nothing else to do or see.

this is the problem I have with starsector combat. There's literally no tactics when it's this cramped.

sseth is like Jesus, the jews hate him, but we need him to speak the truth

Then use a tactical fucking ram and make some room

Attached: R A M.webm (852x480, 2.99M)

It's so fucking annoying that rockets are limited, it's like they're some uncounterable ultimate weapons.

The setting is inspired by hyperion so read that trilogy to make sense of what is going on.

Hyperintelligent AI from the future try to enslave humanity to summon the Abrahamic God, and kill it. Humanity cuts off AI at the source, by killing the hyperlane network, dooming humanity to the dark age of technology and securing the freedom of humanity from the AI from the future.

is it me or is one of these not like the other?

That's... literally the feature list on the starsector website....

Can you die in this game? If so, how? Decided to give it a go, and instead of tryharding with missions and doing actual shit, I've been derping around to see all the shit that can fuck me up. Turns out that black holes do nothing and that losing the entire fleet just gives me a new one. What gives? Wait, is it because I didn't turn on ironman? I just remembered that's an option. Is that it? What about late game? Does the same thing happen without ironman?

Why can't we just instal alpha AI cores on capital ships to do this shit for us?

So basically never use anything above a beta core got it

Same, i'm doing a run commissioned with the Persean League but I started as DA, and eventually I had to crack open GIMP and give my Versant a different paintjob so it didn't stick out so much from the other ships

What fuck is mothball and why should I bother with it?

It seems like when you get a new fleet after "dying", it actually costs you money. I guess if you keep dying like a tard, you will eventually run out of money and end up with an unarmed shuttle and 0 credits.

why are mule (p)s so good bros

all that cargo
all that armor
and a big gun

feels good man

>one of the mods is literally a company from front mission
>they even have their mechs

BASED

If you mean, lose your save file perma death sort of die, no. But you lose your inventory, fleet, and money, the only thing left over is your character skills, which you never lose.

It's exactly like Mount & Blade

Mothballing is when you find a rare ass ship in the middle of fucking nowhere but you don't have the supplies on hand to repair it. Mothball it to save fuel and supplies, haul it back to civilization, then get it working.

Attached: Bombing Run.webm (1280x720, 2.95M)

No, you will always come back in a frigate like the Wayarer. Alex needs to stop being so gentle and let people embrace death from getting their fleet drained to 0% CR in black holes or not bailing their flagship to another ship before it explodes.

Mothballed ships are things you tow around without needing crew or supplies. A single frigate can lug around a capital ship if its mothballed, so you can collect nice derelicts early on without the requirement to actually use it. That way you can put it into storage for later and not waste a ton of supplies.

That will be a thing next update.

>No, you will always come back in a frigate like the Wayarer. Alex needs to stop being so gentle and let people embrace death from getting their fleet drained to 0% CR in black holes or not bailing their flagship to another ship before it explodes.

There's no point since people will just savescum anyway. That said I personally don't think things should be balanced around autistic min-maxers in a single player game, but that's my .02

What do you mean? Once you get a military base you can already order strikes and such

If muh difficulty niggers had their way, it would be impossible to field somewhat large fleets, hyperstorms would be 10x worse, 90% of the skills would be nerfed to shit, and carriers would be bad again. Alex already listens to you faggots enough.

Hey faggots redpill me on how to get going from a normie 1 ship start
Ive been salvaging shit and mining because i dont have a fleet strong enough to take on any missions so what do?

hang out around people fighting and salvage the ships that come flying out once you scrape together enough for some crew

Trading. Look in intel or go to the bars for delivery jobs on planets and stations.

why do these faction mods add such terrible and out of place portraits christ, the vanilla ones were bad enough

I just became a wagie for Hegemony. Enlist in their military, "contribute" 1% damage in fights to raise reputation, buy a shitty cargo hauler and transport goods that are in deficit somewhere, all while recieving 40k/month for existing. A year later you will have your million to deck out a combat fleet.

Do scan missions, and if you got the resources, survey missions.

what mod

How about more fucking balanced ships instead of shity marry sue MOD ships?

Alex has added like 3 new ships in the 10 years I have owned this game.

Look for the easiest delivery or exploration mission you can. Buy whatever you need to do that mission. Buy a cheap cargo hauler, buy a cheap fuel tanker, whatever. The easy missions will get you about 30,000 credits, plenty to get started. Once you have that first 30, keep going from there.

Attached: 1561600589174.png (339x300, 196K)

Yeah, I just checked out ironman and it's literally the same thing. Is there a permadeath mod? I don't like how you can survive a black hole or that your pod can't get destroyed or that you can't die at all. You lose some of your progress and that's basically it. Eeehh.... not a fan.

Where can I pirate the latest version?

>Is there a permadeath mod?
Just start a new game and delete the old save whenever you die. Surely you have enough will to not need the game do it for you?

I'm sure there is a mod for permadeath out there, but the fact is that you can easily sink 100+ hours into a single save file, so M&B style makes a lot of sense. You still get punished, but having that much progress get wiped would probably stop people from playing altogether.

But like I said, I'm sure there is a mod somewhere.

This is why the conquest sucks dick and the onslaught is the best super heavy ship in the game.

>Nothing new for degenerate portrait pack

give link please

probably won't get an update, people were assblasted it added stolen art to other mods

paragon onslaught or conquest

just look for shortages and compare how much you can sell shit per unit there vs surpluses and how much you can buy shit there per unit

>bunch of people now play this because of sseth’s video
>endlessly ask questions that are actually answered in sseth’s video
>some are so bad that they can’t even progress past the tutorial
>others bumble their way into colony game stage and angrypost about not being able to beat pirate fleets
why
just why are zoomers like this

Mjolnir Cannon or Gauss Cannon?

Does the game have endings?

would this be a good game to stream?

both of you are my niggas

Elite crewmembers would choose Aurora. I would go for Paragon or Onslaught depending on fleet composition. Conquest in modded versions is fun if you use Sylphon's large strike missiles.

shut the fuck up boomer

Attached: Heart-attack.jpg (378x301, 14K)

is there a better freighter for a smaller salvage fleet than the colossus I could be using? nobody will sell me the atlas cause no good boy points

tarsus or buffalo

onslaught xiv's are really fun to load down in an assault role with as much armor as you can get

>Sylphon

Mjolnir for all round, I prefer Gauss if fighting high tech. If you can handle the flux cost Mjolnir is a nice weapon, its range works well with other medium/large guns, maintains decent per shot damage and has EMP.

Not yet, when its done it should have something that lets you leave your mark on the sector.

You can try

my biased and anecdotal evidence suggests that independent planets are the best for this

Assuming I don't want to play with colonies, what do I do with blueprints? If I sell them to a planet, will they start producing and selling the device? Just them or the entire system/faction? Can I arm the space islamists with proper ship designs for comedic purposes?

>23500 supplies
I can't even begin to imagine how you resupply that nightmare.

Attached: 1564543907004.jpg (304x263, 54K)

yes. If you do shit like sell pirates paragon blueprints they'll start producing them and you'll see them in pirate fleets

never trust the Tri-pod eaters.

Should I even bother surveying barren worlds

yes the planet types don’t matter
ruins spawn in every planet type and that’s where you make the mad dosh and blueprints

What do I get for taking on a mothership? Is it worth the fight?

Should I sell this pristine nanoforge or keep it?

Is Sylphon OP?

I want to try that, and approlight but appro ships somehow look more out of place than the faction flying around with space mecha

This was the one thing keeping me from going pirate, even with mods that give them capitals they still get dunked. But if I can give them blueprints and pristine nanoforges to power them up...

time to plunge the sector into chaos

Which skills are good?

you're calling looking at two numbers running the numbers

You can't do those things specifically. For example, you can't auto target specific subsystems unless I'm missing something.

Navagation, Field Repair and Salvaging

>Tri-Tachyon won't give me any missions
HOLY FUCK NIGGERS JUST TELL ME SOMETHING I CAN DO SO I CAN BOOST MY REPUTATION AND GET A PARAGON

By the way, you can make a portrait out of whatever you like, it's really simple.
Google "starsector custom portrait" and you'll find guides.

it’s gonna be faster to just explore and find a blueprint.

Why do you have point defense AI when you already have a lot small flaks? I do not understand how those 8 small guns you have left are worth using a 25 point mod. And what weapos are those 8 small ones anways? Please explain.

bruh just look at the faction names and connect the dots it’s not that hard

if you talk to a station manager you can sell them your gamma cores for a reputation boost of something like 2 rep per core

he’s just new at this game.
worse, he’s one of those people who are new at this game and still think they can give advice to others.

>Since we're all not even pretending to not have watched Sseth's video
please kill urself

>people watched the sseth video
I actually doubt it. This thread is full of newfags asking questions that he actually covered in the video.

What do I need to do to just be able to click and drag to store all this shit

Found a derelict Heron. I already have a condor which is only slightly fucked up, should I refurbish the Heron and ditch the Condor or is the Condor good enough?

>To summarize: Higher armor values give your ships more effective HP

Activate Mass Transfer in the setting file, then use Alt and mouseover.

did you even read or did you skip to the end like an adhd zoomer?

How come the AI of my own fleet such fucking retards? They just stay back as much as possible and let me do all the work with my BIGDICKONSLAUGHT. I usually don't give them any commands or just click on my ship for them to escort. Sometimes just press full attack button. Am i doing it wrong? I have 5 capital ships in my fleet and the other 4 are just canon fodder for the enemy until i arrive and clean up.

set aggressive stance for your fleet in fleet management screen, it's where you also pick blueprints for your defense fleets

this applies to your current fleet and all defense fleets and makes them much more aggressive
also depends on captains of your ships, they each have a stance

They fight passively so you don't bitch about the stupid AI suiciding itself all the time.

OFFICERS FAGGOT

If I'm doing the salvage/survey thing what's a good amount of heavy machinery to keep in my cargo? Or does any increased amount improve my chances at good outcomes?

you won't really need more than 150

I can't find this stance stuff on the fleet tab. Do i need to click on the officers or something?

Stances are for colony AI fleets, for your own you have to look for aggressive officers.

>Stances are for colony AI fleets
nope, they also affect your un-officer'd ships

Sit down and THINK about a solution before begging Yea Forums to spoonfeed you basic logic answers.
>I usually don't give them any commands or just click on my ship for them to escort
AND THERE IT IS

It's just the faction name + ship
HSS -> Hedgemony Space Ship
PLS -> Persean league Ship

etc

I just started playing it (well, I had tried it before but never got far) inspired by the video. The 15k per month feels way too much, it should be a third of that max, for maybe three months. That's plenty of time to get set up.

>The 15k per month feels way too much

thats chump change

>including the ones in your fleet

Attached: tooltip.png (1920x1080, 380K)

It's really trivial to get started even with no income, which you can change in some settings textfile anyways I'm pretty sure.

Any good guides on battle tactics?

You learn something new everyday.

Thanks bro.

>start game
>beeline to nearest hegemony planet
>accept commission
>check missions
>accept literally any exploration/scan mission (not survey)
>buy literally any tanker
>buy max fuel
>fly to mission target
congratulations, you are now rich, have completed a mission and are in middle of fucking nowhere surrounded by ancient trash filled with blueprints that weight nothing and sell for a lot

That's cool and all but does it make your carriers go full retard and try to 1v1 an onslaught

1. hit the enemy shields with kinetic
2. after building up the enemy flux, hit their armor with HE, missiles, and torpedoes
3. don't get hit
It's not like you'll get gud just by reading what to do, shit like threat assessment, flux/venting management/timing, and spacing are learnt through experience.

>select all carriers
>click a location in space

Engage bulk of enemy with your main line battleships

pretty much every ship has no defenses on the rear or shield coverage, so what I do while the big ships fly around taking pot shots at each other, I have a bunch of smaller, faster ships attack from the rear. If you can surround the enemy fleet or attack from more than one side it's usually GG

What even is a main line battleship?

The small ones are mortars. They're suprisingly competent when used as massed PD, and also have the advantage of being an HE weapon and fuck up armored fighters as well. The added security against missiles by using IPDAI is good as well.

You think I'm new or unfit to give advice to people, for the reason of...?

>blueprints that weight nothing and sell for a lot
don't sell those you fuckbrain

no doubt, but within the time I got paid I got a decent sized fleet and two colonies, one class VI terrestrial paradise with amazing ores and one habitable place with ruins

>using blackrock driveyards crashes my game
Feels bad. Everything else works.

Only give your dedicated carries missiles and PD. It is even a tooltip.
If you need to really play it safe, give them cautious officers.

Is there a guide on fitting? Its one of the very early things you need to do and the tutorial doesnt offer much advice.

Following the autofit stuff is nice but I never have all the weapons so I'm left with 1 or 2 hardpoints with nothing on it. And fitting myself I can get the hardpoints filled up but I'm not sure if what im doing is correct and then all the systems and shit to the right.

Everything else seems easy enough but I cannot figure out whats good and bad for fitting a ship.

How should I outfit my ships, or is the automatic one trustworthy?
Also, I seem to win 90% of my fights but when I use the simulator for 1v1s I end up in a stalemate every time

big ships with enough flux capacity to fire and take sustained fire and armor to mitigate anything that gets through. usually anything with "battle" in it's name serves this purpose

It's a game, just play it and learn what's good and bad for fitting a ship.

When in doubt try max vents. Or at the very least have enough vent for shield upkeep+primary weapon groups.

>sell all shitty blueprints
>turn in all AI cores to tri tachion for mad dosh
>start an empire within 1 year
>raid factions for the same blueprints

i found a blueprint that says "battleship" on it, i suppose i should keep it? i don't have a colony with heavy industry though

Attached: 1563966065655.png (821x118, 63K)

>paragon
nah thats a pretty bad ship, you should definitely turn it in to your friends at tri-tachyon

Attached: hegemony propaganda.jpg (1536x2048, 331K)

that big blue ship 3rd from right is the strongest ship in vanilla game, to the left of it is the strongest player piloted ship in the game

>two colonies

Just sell it to the faction you hate the most to improve relations with them on top of getting money.

>aurora, tempest, paragon blueprints
keep all that shit, you've got the makings of a real fun high tech playthrough once you do get heavy industry. tempest deathblobs are hilarious

that's a fucking paragon,(the best capital ship in the game) right click it to learn the blueprint

Attached: 1509310318415.png (264x412, 109K)

Paragon is the strongest capital in the game, at the very least consume that one. You'll regret it when starting a colony and get heavy industry online if you sold that one.

I only colonize systems where I can have like eight colonies at once.

thanks, I havent' sold any blueprints so far

aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA STOP ALREADY

Attached: 1543730762199.png (300x282, 76K)

can't wait for new stability changes so I can just colonize 5 planets in one system and never ever care about any pirates or expeditions ever again

What's the best frigate?

>20 frigates on the opposing side
>my missile boats just unload onto them
>bombers come next
Psst

wolf

if you play with diable its their fast flicker core frigate

Tempest or Hyperion, wolfs shit

At what point can I consider my colony self-sufficient and can stop babying it when pirate raids show up? I have very little idea what I'm doing here, I just pump money into growth and mining. I have a beta and gamma AI running spaceport & population respectively.

Attached: 1553294416827.jpg (1920x1080, 539K)

>3 astrals
lmao I don't even need fighter escorts, there's too many bombers for them to get.

>play game
>start to gets lods of emone
>money goes to my head
>restore a heavy cruiser and a legion XIV in a row
>drop down to 100000 creds
>panic
>now i'm back to 400000 creds
>feel like i've got jack shit and that i'll bankrupt in a day
h-help
now i know how jews feel
the more you have, the less you want to lose

Attached: le conspiring hands.png (208x195, 18K)

patrol HQ isn't that great, upgrade that to a military base and then high command (takes an industry slot) and you'll be good. larger colonies produce larger patrols

real merchant play is keeping all your currency stored in growth incentives at your colonies

Do industry slots increase with population?

This thing fuck up half my fleet, is it worth it?

Attached: 1534801013203.png (353x95, 9K)

i have no colonies
i probably should've invested into that

Nigga just get a colony lmao, you get millions of creds in a month and free supplies.

depends on the planets in system.

up to 5 i think

even a no resource colony with high hazard rating is worth it when it has a cryo facility, the population growth makes your planet explode into an economical powerhouse very fast

Alright, thanks. This system is garbage but it's right next to my capital and if the pop explosion is worth it that's nice.

no user, it can't move systems. It HAS to be used in system

Depends on your definition of 'best'
Wolf provides good performance while being available nearly everywhere. Can't really go wrong with it.
Afflictor's debuff system can be incredibly useful in large lategame fights but ironically being a phase ship lowers it's endurance
Tempest is rarer than wolf but hits harder
Omen is a nice escort/support vessel that can also be fit as a competent harasser
Hyperion is the most powerful frigate, sure. Good luck finding one that you can purchase/salvage or finding a blueprint though

>Get an Aurora
>Entire fleets of Pirates and Space Amish are literally incapable of overcoming the shields
>Game plan becomes ramming into the biggest enemy ship and holding down fire until it dies

Yeah, I figured, that's why I'll start a colony on the only habitable shithole there
