Ok get this. I got hired to work for a game studio a few months back. Their project is heavily inspired by Sekiro. It's basically Sekiro in a cyberpunk setting, like some Blade Runner style city. Well anyway, I saw some fight break out between team members in the art department over some character design. One of the player characters(there's multiple characters you can play as) was supposed to be some female cyberninja. Well, the fight started because of two people's designs:
>one guy's design was a more "traditional" looking ninja, with a cybernetic arm and eye, she looked like Momiji from Ninja Gaiden pretty much like the outfit and hair and face, basically Momiji with a robo arm and eye
>other guy's design was more like a female Genji from Overwatch or something, but half Black half Japanese. She doesn't have an afro or anything(thank fucking god), she basically looks like Emma from Sekiro but with brown skin and white hair wearing a cyberninja suit
The fighting started because the guy's half black design got chosen over the first guy's design, and he had a meltdown and started bitching about sjws and other shit like that. Your thoughts, who do you think was in the wrong here, that guy for bitching or the team for choosing the blasian girl ninja design over the pure japanese one?

First design basically looks a ton like Momiji from Ninja Gaiden, except her outfit looks like one of those all black tacticool ninja things(like Ryu wears), and she has loose hair in a himecut, her face pretty much looks like Momiji, and she has a black cybernetic arm and a red cybernetic eye, uses a futuristic naginata that fires lasers
The other design looks like a brown skinned Emma from Sekiro with white hair in a big high ponytail, and her outfit is basically some cyber ninja suit like Genji from Overwatch or some Metal Gear Solid thing, except colored black and purple, uses a black bladed katana that channels dark gravity energy

Both sound unoriginal but at least second sound like it actually fits the setting and I don't really see the problem with making the character brown skinned with white hair if she is still an attractive looking character design just sound like Shinobu from No More Heroes which was a good design.

If you aren't in control of your emotions then maybe you need to take a step back to breathe and reevaluate your position on some things instead of throwing a shitfit like a babby. There are lots of things to keep in mind about a game, giving people "what they want" is secondary.
If you make your protagonist a black female ninja then it will get a lot of free advertising from outrage youtubers and games journalists, that can turn a game that nobody cares about into a game a lot of people will buy.
Sure gamers prefer a character like the one you have shown there but as long as the game is good most will still buy it, so being known by annoying people will sell more copies than a game barely anyone knows exists.
