Right at the end it's revealed that the protagonist is actually a DQ fan playing a VR version of DQV and Nimzo is a virus trying to destroy the game. Apparently the anti-virus is Roto's sword or something and it all ends pretty quick. "Your story"apparently refers to this; the story of you as a gamer.

This baffles me the most. Banking on nostalgia and anniversary celebrations is one thing, but I don't get what anyone gains from basically taking something classic and then shoving in ORIGINAL PLOT TWIST DO NOT STEAL into something that basically changes everything. If a remake or retelling is radically different from the start (ie. Total Recall or Final Fantasy VII Remake), then there's a lot more leeway for doing your own original shit because the expectation is fucking THERE. Playing a truncated version of the exact same story and then slipping in a gotcha moment at the end isn't celebratory or honoring the original work, it's slapping your cock on the table and telling people to look at how big it is.

This aside, that Broly and previous movies had 3D animation during the fights. It was a blend of 2D & 3D.
Toei has also shown they were good at 3D animation with the Saint Seiya movie, it's just sad that everything except that was horrible.

It's easier to make CGI 3D shit with a million dollars than it is to get the best animators in the industry and top staff to animate 2D on a million dollars. 2D animated films from Japan are a labor of love usually, while with 3D it's just business as usual besides the handful of exceptions that really do try.

this is where it gets weird. Everything is normal until the defeat of Ladja. Right at the end it's revealed that the protagonist is actually a DQ fan playing a VR version of DQV and Nimzo is a virus trying to destroy the game. Apparently the anti-virus is Roto's sword or something and it all ends pretty quick. "Your story"apparently refers to this; the story of you as a gamer.
