Why did you stop playing Guild Wars 2?
Why did you stop playing Guild Wars 2?
Got bored
It's boring bruv
I never started playing Guild Wars 2. It's an MMO.
during the a story quest an NPC i had gotten very attached to died and i was so overcome with grief i couldnt go on anymore
...
Its boring.
Like every modern day WOW clone its just one massive grind you can do with other people but is suboptimal to do so and the quests are faceroll easy.
Its casual as fuck. Zero challenge in leveling.
I play it every now and then, but I've done everything except Raids. Waiting for content like every 4/5 months for a story quest that'll take about an hour to finish with my bf kinda sucks
they cant because there was a gay furry retard who go so upset that he made a bot that would spam reply with msgs from other threads.
pve is dogshit pvp is retardedly imbalanced and wvw when not a total lagfest promotes zergs instead of small man squads since powercreep is so bad.
oh noo, how bad
generals go in
got twice-told legend by making two eternities. looked back and felt like I had nothing else to do, and my friends had already quit.
The only content is brainafk grind, story bs or you need a guild.
Dungeons on release were kino, before the zerker meta.
When I realized it wasn't a GW1 sequel.
After crafting a full legendary set of armor and weapons, it felt like I've experience all the game had to offer. It got super boring for me especially between living worlds
just telling you why they came here they should fix their shit on vg. now back to your twitter thread faggot
they come here because they're annoying fags who need to push their shit everywhere, or did WoW get hit by a spambot? FF? Fire emblem?
Lost my virginity.
I'm on break until anet figures out what the fuck they want to do with chronomancer
gw2 threads end up on Yea Forums literally because someone is running a bot to spam any general with gw2 content.
This. They fucked up their big advantage by simplifying the ability/class system
>"guild wars 2"
>isn't a guild wars sequel
All the fucking generals end up on Yea Forums regardless, jackass. Generalfags are simply insufferable people. That's why we built them a containment board in the first place.
are you illiterate? he's saying a guild wars general is impossible to make on /vg/ because there is a bot running to this day that will shit up any attempt to create one. how new?
The only thing I liked about it was being a tin can soldier with a rifle.
>we
because ff xiv exists
>are you illiterate?
Are you? Bot doesn't matter. Generalfags will spam their shit here simply because they can, and they do.
The thorn and desert expansion are fun, but there's no progression or reason to collect everything on a map. I want to play it, but you can't wrangle people to do the interesting group quest/events because there's no actual rewards. Feels bad man.
This
lol everyone knows this you fucking moron. gw2 fags don't exactly have a choice. it's either discussion here on Yea Forums or nowhere.
made the mistake of pre-ordering it on the sole promise from my clan mates that it was going to be good, infact, it turned out to be absolutely dreadful, so bad i rolled back playing Warhammer.
Everyone else does, and everyone else still spams their shit here. Bot does not matter. They just want to fag everything up.
PoF really hasn't been as fun as HoT was. While the new story content that gets drip fed is fine and good, the core of the expansion didn't really have as much replay value as HoT did. It seems that they devote most of their resources to making this story content, and most other aspects of the game get neglected or outright ignored because of this. Given that the story content comes out so infrequently, there isn't much reason to play regularly.
what are you even trying to say? you think OP made this thread to "fag everything up" rather than just try to discuss the game? you're a retard and you type like a newfag. fuck off.
Easy. Not enough lewd outfits.
They fucked it up. All they had to do was to copy GW1 combat, but they just HAD to have that whole "We know better than the players" attitude and then they went ahead and made this spamfest of garbage.
That is what generalfags do, yes.
There is literally nothing worth doing in GW2 and the immersion is broken every two seconds by people running around in cash shop shit looking like they just stepped out of second life.
you do realize you chose to come into this thread and read it, right?
And you chose to post your furry game general on Yea Forums.
No he can't really read so expecting him to be smart enough to not go to things he hates is a whole next level of thought.
Also he's stupid butt blasted his 10th smash thread was removed for a LOL thread and this one.
I played today and did SW farm for a while.
Not much time anymore for mmos but fractals, PvP, and SW farm keep me entertained.
beat it and the dlcs are scams
>Beat a MMO
?
The friends who bought me the game and wanted to play with me kept on advancing ahead rapidly after already being very ahead, and then proceeding to do even more stuff without me
as the first real mmo i tried i liked it though, nice world i liked exploring and the story for your character
Exhausted all playable content
got bored with leveling
you don't know what a mmo is?
themepark MMOs are beatable.
This is the problem most of them are struggling with since they all cater to casuals, they've all become 'beatable' in mere days of a new patch.
mmos have a finite amount of content
i believe you don't know what a mmo is.
saying you beat it is just you giving up and saying you're a winner.
Mounts are shit.
Raids are shit.
Gem Store is shit.
Started out interesting and became the same as every other generic mmo.
thats right, I came into the thread because I play GW2 sometimes and would enjoy discussing it.
you came in here to fag it up
spot the difference?
well aren't you a passive aggressive little bitch
Themepark MMOs are beatable, GW2 is a themepark MMO, there is only so much content to do before its over.
They're not sandbox MMOs like EVE where the community is the content, and ever changing.
>no factions
>no open world pvp
>boring meaningless progression
>rifts are super boring
>dungeons made irrelevant
>no reason to communicate with others
>world content is just mindless zerging
>boring lore
>boring single player story content in an "MMO"
>p2w cash shop
>Mounts are shit
That's literally the best part of the game though
More games needs this.
Personal point. Mounts ruined this game for me.
The mounts are well implemented but I dislike them for their existence. They also completely ruined every single map that came before PoF.
Mounts are a shit mechanic that makes developers create giant maps with way more tedious shit in them. See every map PoF and after.
Probably why the game as a whole is shit.
>>p2w cash shop
The gem store is nothing but skins, and almost everything on there can be bought with in-game gold
More games need low tech guns period. Victorian era fantasy is dope.
>and almost everything on there can be bought with in-game gold
wow, you can even get some items through gameplay? How generous of them!
The only things you can't buy are are actual expansions.
Do you understand what p2w means?
Pay for convenience is probably more accurate but I still class that as p2w
Do you understand what exaggeration for the sake of simplification is, Tisty?
Buying items is p2w.
I think you're confused man. Go make a gw2 general on /vg/ and watch how it gets spam botted to the post limit with random gibberish. Someone out there is outright preventing gw2 generals on /vg/ and there's nothing Yea Forums mods can do about it.
That's why they discuss the game here.
What are they winning? What's their advantage?
I don't think there's anything p2w about the gathering tools, and those are the only convenient things I can think of off there.
I think you're fucking stupid. Generalfags spam their shit here incessantly, bot or no bot. They just want to be obnoxious.
That your idea of rhetoric? Playing stupid? Alright. Good luck with that.
So nothing then? Alright.
Guild Wars 2 really is impossible to discuss anywhere on Yea Forums, huh.
There's nothing to argue against, you're just plugging your ears going "huh, wassat?". You didn't make an argument.
It's a piece of shit.
All you have to do is say what they're winning and what the advantage is, that's all.
>more bag slots
>instant level 80
That's still just one of the points I listed, the game is boring to me regardless if the cash shop is p2w or not. There's nothing meaningful to do in the end game, rifts are boring and raids are meh. WvWvW is cool in concept but it just ends up being a massive zerg lagfest, the instanced PvP is fun for a bit but gets really stale. I understand why some people enjoy it, I even did at first on release but it just gets stale really fast.
You haven't listed anything that's p2w from the cash shop.
Well if you post a gw2 thread on /vg/ it gets botted to hell.
If you post about it on Yea Forums you get the average Yea Forums posters which are dumb as shit and twice as obnoxious.
Might as well try making a gw2 thread on Yea Forums or something, at least then people might talk about it for a bit before it 404s.
You could buy currency at release. If that's still in, that's p2w.
Because the devs thought bundling god awful lore with temporary events and jumping puzzles was a good way to please an MMO playerbase.
Because they advertised cosmetic progression instead of gear progression only to then add another gear tier while locking the best cosmetics behind the gem shop and lootboxes.
Because the writers couldn't stop making the story about their self inserts, from destiny's edge to trahearne to scarlett to the two lesbian detectives to destiny's edge 2.0 to whatever the fuck they've been doing since then, can't be arsed to keep up.
Even if they didn't hop from mary sue to mary sue the story is still so unbelievably hacky it puts 2019 blizzard to shame.
The game doesn't have a monthly sub and every update still made me feel ripped off. Fuck i'm mad.
Is exactly what i'm talking about. It's like they went [Level 50: Sad moment here]. Like they had a checklist with must have story beats.
I agree. It's just crazy to me how discussion of the game is nearly impossible. Almost like it's cursed. Being shit doesn't stop a lot of other games being constantly talked about here.
When the game first came out my PC was too old and slow.
When the first expansion came out, I was actually really impressed by the menu and character creation process.
I chose a norn because I expected them to be this savage viking-like race from the harsh north, but when I started playing I felt very little inspiration was put behind them, the puzzles were weak, the character of their race (if it had any) felt poorly established, and the voice work felt amateur and kept me from feeling engaged in the story.
Without any challenge to engage me or any narrative to hook me, I left before I hit level 10.
So you can buy the same in game items from the AH everyone else can?
I'm not homeless, if I wanted to talk to a wall, I'd go do that.
>>more bag slots
Useless since 24 bag slots are all you'll ever need, and allows you to carry a second set of armor, weapons, and trinkets. Not to mention meta events drop unidentified gear instead now to save space
>>instant level 80
You can hit level 80 in under an hour. Not to mention the game floods you with level tomes.
Seriously, none of this shit is p2w. I'm bored of the game too and haven't played in over 6 months, but don't just make up shit about it.
>Almost like it's cursed.
It's a piece of shit.
I'm asking a question and you're not answering it and I'm the wall?
You can pay for the currency others would have to earn. That's pay to win.
You can buy all the gold you want, but that wont get you around the time gated materials you need for ascended gear.
I agree with this, although the mtx aren't that bad compared to its competitors.
I literally haven't played in years, you're probably right that the cash shop is less p2w than I remember. However the game is still boring and unfulfilling as an MMO which is the main point of my post.
You're playing stupid from the onset. That's never going to go anywhere. If anything, the comparison is unfair to my tapestry.
Because it proved to be a shallow mockery of Guild Wars 1, promising a lot and delivering nothing, taking no advantage of the framework built by its predecessor and instead trying to cash in on the craze of "targetless mmo" games like Blade and Soul or Tera. I would rather have a good, solid tab target mmo than this shit they've done. The final nail in the coffin was original going f2p gimped and people that had paid full price for the original getting nothing out of it.
>reading comprehension
why are there so many illiterate shitposters in this thread?
What have they won? What advantage have they gained over someone who bought the exact same item naturally? Could you distinguish these two players out in the world? Is there anything you can only purchase with money that would make actually make you more powerful than someone else?
Don't butt in.
Because I hate limited time shit like those living story chapters.
because the people who run it are mean sjw and they hurt my feelings
You still haven't answered a very simple question, almost as if you don't have the answer and just want to play footsies with insults, very cute, user.
Answer the question instead of getting mad, if you can.
Living world season 4 burnt me out and didn’t help that chrono fucking died again.
I’m waiting for their lws5 revel and hopefully it’s drastically different and if it’s not I’ll prob just stop playing.
They cost like 50 gold, which is nothing, if you didn't log in during the 3-4 months they were available
I left wow during MoP and tried a few mmos since. I had the same problem with GW2 as I had with wildstar. The combat feels extremely restrictive because the number of actions you have is limited. I'm used to having a ton of keybindings with situational spells, while those games streamline it to give you less skills. No matter how shit wow got, it always felt more complete compared to other mmos. Things like having random shit in the open world (rare mobs, random puzzles and shit like that), trinkets with on use effects, engineering and the whole toy shit just set a standard that no other mmo has lived up to for me.
The "very simple question" is just going to devolve into you arguing semantics about whether or not MMOs are beatable for a few dozen posts, pretending anyone's ever cared about that, and you know it. Might as well skip the foreplay and tell you to grow up from the start.
In that example, the item in question. That they paid for, instead of earned. Now piss off while the grownups speak.
By the time I finished S4, I had one character for every class sitting at 150 AR and 3 different legendaries.
If they didn't require WvW to make legendaries, I might be able to bring myself to play again just to make a few more, but for now I don't think there's anything they can do to bring me back.
My Roy got obliterated by Hero in online.................
Living world is over, and now theres no real new content
But unless you're buying legendaries, which would end up costing you like $200, the other guy probably has ascended weapons and armor, while your bitch ass is running around is exotics.
Ascended and legendary weapons/armor share the same states though and it's only a 5% difference from exotic gear. Ascended is just for fractuals and legendaries are for completionist and dick waving rights. Exotic gear is more than acceptable for PvE and WvWvW.
I mean he's not wrong though.
Words mean something. If you're going to use "pay-to-win" as an insult, it ought to be rooted in reality. There are countless examples of games where you can buy power directly or indirectly, which is as close to "winning" as the analogy usually comes.
GW2 has a very low ceiling for gear power that is easily reached without paying anything. It is true that you can expedite things by buying gold with money, but it is to a pretty negligible degree and not really what you're arguing anyways.
There's a clear contrast between games that offer explicit "pay-to-win" and what you're trying to twist into an argument to apply to MMOs. Social aspects are about the only avenue you're going to be able to "win" in an MMO, and I think you'd be hard pressed to give a coherent argument for how the gem shop will advance you toward that goal.
There is nothing wrong at all with saying you don't like microtransactions on principle, so save everyone the headache and just open with that instead next time.
>But unless you're buying legendaries
Christ, you can even buy top-end gear? That is ridiculous.
The fact still stands that guy who feared up his character by playing the game rather than being a whale is better geared. The main PvE content players do are fractals, which demand you to be in ascended gear
The only thing you'll be doing exotic is a few map metas, which you'll get bored of quickly.
You can't really buy ascended gear with real money though. You might be able to stock up on a shitload of infusions off the market but most if any, all ascended gear requires you to do collections and the ascended trinkets cost laurels which are a time gated currency. You can't buy your way to ascended gear.
I mean, 800 gems gives you about 200 gold. Unless you're playing engineer or ele, you'll have 3 weapons on average equipped. Each legendary costs around 2000 gold.
So if you really wanted to bypass making ascended weapons, you can drop $300 for something you could have gotten done in like 2 weeks. Keep in mind you can't buy your way to ascended armor
Christ, you can even buy top-end gear? That is ridiculous.
That was my point. You can throw as much real money as you want into gold, but the player who probably didn't spend any really money and has been playing for just a few months likely has better stats than you.
Legendary weapons do have the same stats as ascendeds, though, which you absolutely can buy with gold off the AH
Yeah, dude. Smooth brains like you with no sense of financial responsibility or impulse control can skip doing one of the simplest things in the game
That's NCsoft for you.
Yeah but why would you want to drop $300 on a single legendary weapon? If your goal is to do high end fractals it'd be quicker to join up with a dedicated fractal guild, start at low-end fractals and work your way up from there. It only takes a month tops to get a full set of weapons, armor and trinkets and you're doing it at the fraction of the cost.
You'd have to be extremely wealthy or monumentally stupid to spend the hundreds of dollars required to get the legendary weapons to do fractals. You'd still have to grind for the armor and trinkets anyway so what's the point?
the price tag doesn't affect whether it's pay to win or not
$300 is a pretty fucking steep price tag then to do high tier fractals slighty faster than the regular player just grinding it out then
Funny, that. Weren't you ranting about how inadequate exotics were for everything just a minute ago?
No, that was someone else. Exotics are more than acceptable for anything outside of fractals. There's only a 5% stat difference between exotic and ascended/legendary and honestly, it really doesn't matter a whole much. As long as you're not building like a complete monogloid it's fine.
Trahearne
Alright. Anyway, the price doesn't matter. If it's pay to win, it's pay to win. Simple as.
I played a bit again for the first time in a while. Did some fractals, it was comfy.
Though I hate what they did to Chronomancer, no class deserves that.
how do i play engineer?
I'm not sure what you're supposed to be "winning" by dropping hundreds of dollars on legendaries to do high end pve content but sure, you'll just look like the loser in the end for dumping huge amounts of money into doing something that could easily be done normally for a fraction of the cost. If somebody wants to spend hundreds of dollars to do high fractals, well that's on them but I already got myself fully geared up thanks to some patience.
substituting gameplay with cash is pay to win
letting you even buy top-end gear is just fucking ridiculous
Tried the free version. Not fun
Guild Wars 2 makes me sad. I loved the world that I could interact so much with and find neat little things to explore and I loved a lot of the neat ideas they tried but the story was just terrible. I only played Classic and I remember so many story events were "Go here and do the grunt work so Plant Jesus could be amazing." I heard things didn't get much better and heard horror stories about some character named Scarlet.
If FFXIV could have a lot of the world features that Guild Wars 2 has I'd be so delighted.
Maybe in the most technical sense but it's so much just for the SLIGHTEST stat differences though. Each legendary is around ~$300 and depending on your build you're gonna be carrying around 3-4 weapons so you can easily spend $1000 just to get ahead on your weapons. You still gotta grind for your ascended armor and trinkets, they're both time gated so you have no choice but to wait unless you're that lucky with random mob drops.
Depending on how often you run fractals and who you're doing it with you can get yourself fully geared up in ascended stuff in about 1-2 months, the only real money sink are the infusions. So really you're just shelling out a grand to slighty ahead of the curb in regards to that.
You can argue it's pay2win in the most technical sense but why the fuck would you want to do that? You're spending such huge amounts of cash on gear with a 5% stat difference for high end PvE content that you're eventually going to get to anyway through regular play. It's so monumentally stupid that whoever even does that deserves to be laughed at and in the end, it doesn't affect my gameplay. I'm not being cheated out of anything, the guy who dropped a grand on legendaries certainly is though.
There are some arguments for "paying for convenience" not being pay to win. They suck, they're fucking stupid, but they exist. There are none for finding the best equipment in the game inside your wallet. That's pay to win to a ridiculous extent.
It was great until I realized it had no real endgame. There might be stuff now, but it's the worst kind of grindyshits, and it was far too late.
Got Bored and literally any other mmorpg was better and more fun.
goatwolves best class btw
it made a good case of trying to make MMOs not so fucking boring, but in the end... it still is a MMO
The way mounts handle is why I tried out the game
And then I played it and it was awful, and then I found out mounts are only in the DLC
>w-we can't use /vg/
Fuck off to your discords then degenerate furry trannies.
It wasn't what I wanted from GW2 and even though I kept coming back every now and then to check how it is and it still isn't what I wanted or even some form of something I'd actually enjoy playing. It's so far in some bullshit half-assed WoW clone, cash shop, korean MMO, chatroom direction and I wanted it to actually be a better Guild Wars 1. So many overbearing glow effects and too much focus on the cash shop. At least I can still play GW1 I guess so there's that.
It went to shit not that it was ever that good in the first place. They should fire the hacks they current employ as writers and hire new ones but it's far too late for that.
what are you talking about? you can craft ascended armor
Combat was boring as fuck and glacially slow at the endgame, with little feedback on if you're doing it right or not. I mean it, like bosses in a lot of the dungeons were slower than WoW raid bosses, even if you were doing everything optimally. It just got on my fucking nerves. Compared to Guild Wars 1, where if you were built and geared correctly enemies died pretty quickly and you got instant feedback than "yeah you're doing a good job."
Because I wanted GW1 again, not this piece of shit that it became.
My Roy got obliterated by Hero in online........
I got burnt out after making 4 legendaries 5 if you count eternity and grinding fractals
Had a couple thousand hours of fun with the game. During college I had no more time to play, so I dropped it and pretty much all vidya in general.
