What about Wild Arms?
What about Wild Arms?
Great series. I wonder if they will ever bring it back? I'm guessing if they do it will just be a cell phone game...
first game sucks. deceptive cover. has no western elements. encounter rate too high. boring gameplay.
I liked 3
1: good
2: good, but a little insane
3: good, but way too long
4: not good
5: very good
XF: meh game, GOAT soundtrack
Yes?
4 would have been good as a different series. I felt like 5 was a halfhearted attempt at appeasing to old fans...
>no western elements
wild arms 6 when
the mobile game does not count
I think everyone likes 3.
What is MediaVision even doing these days?
Nowadays they make games for Sega/Namco.
Damn. Between the Red Dead games and Hunt: Showdown, I'm really in the mood for some proper fantasy western adventures, and Wild Arms has such an amazing setting just waiting to be used.
i liked it alot when i got if for free by the psn hacking thing. translation def has some wonky moments, but it is still enjoyable
>I'm guessing if they do it will just be a cell phone game..
Yeah, the gacha crap called Million Memories IIRC.
It's basically dead at this point kinda wish they remade 2, I wanna see Knightblazer all over again.
The mobile game doesn't even make sense. WA has always been known for being purely turn-based, a format you'd think would work well on mobile. Yet it's the only WA game that's done as an action game. Makes no sense.
this was better
That's got to be a heavy fucking cape.
The first one is kind of shit. I despised the 3D battles, they were a pain even back then.
heres your new mobile game bro
How does them being in 3D make them a pain? they don't play any different than a 2D turn based game.
Loading times sucked balls, the fights were slow and ugly as fuck. They should have stuck to 2D sprites
-Same dungeon mechanics as Lufia
-same character designs as Lufia
-Same combat UI as Lufia
No connection between the Devs of Lufia and Devs of Wild Arms
Not that I'm calling wild Arms a ripoff, Lufia 2 was a broken mess, but what the hell is the story between Wild Arms and Lufia?
SYMPHOGEAR HIJACK!
Why is she so perfect bros?
ah, makes me wanna whistle.
youtube.com
edge the character
Wild Arms has the best music. Final Fantasy can suck a dick.
If WA ever came back they'd make it an FPS or BR or some shit
JRPGs as we know them got fucked
WATCH SYMPHOGEAR FAGGOTS
>he doesn't like wild arms 1
dilate tranny
Is gacha now
Looks like gay weeb shit.
>world map theme is literally ecstasy of gold
>music in general is spaghetti western awesomeness
>Like 60% of the world map is desert wasteland, not as much as WA3, but still
>6-shooters
>Character designs like Rudy, Calamity Jane
Wild Arms 2 you can get away with saying that. Only the character designs seemed western inspired, the entire rest of the game definitely didn't feel like the Wild West. They started nailing it with 3, and although everything after 3 is approaching dumpster fire tier, at least they got the setting right
2 was definitely still western. It was just the most modern in terms of technology, with trucks and shit.
2's Baskar Village was also the one most "colonized" by the pale man. I wonder if they were trying to say something considering it was further along in the "timeline" than Wild West
Was there ever an official Wild Arms timeline put out or is it something we just have to put together ourselves?
Why did Irving turn heel in the end again? I remember he was a pretty good guy in the beginning with her incest sister.
Wild arms 2 is way more Western than 1. Ashely's design is more Western inspired than any of the character designs in 1, and a couple of the towns looks like they literally came off the set of a Westren movie with a saloon with the swinging doors and everything.
Meanwhile Wild Arms 1 is just some generic fantasy castles and knights and shit
>the fights were slow
This is what killed it for me. Even when you set the camera to static so it doesn't waste time swinging itself around between turns, it takes a good 5 seconds for basic actions to go off.
eh, how do you feel about alter code F?
Everything he did in the game was the sake of defending the planet from the Alien world eater being that showed up in the end.
His motives were the same since the beginning of the game. He was funding the terrorist organization Odessa in order to create an anti-terrorist organization "ARMs" so that they would be up and ready to fight against the encroaching parallel universe known as the Kuiper Belt.
If they ever make a new game I doubt it will be turn based and rather be a action rpg. The last turn based game Sony released was Oreshika for vita and maybe arc the lad mobile.
No western elements? You mean no wild-west elements. It was all-encompassing western elements, including but not limited to wild-west themes.
It was suppose to be a post-technology game.
But why did we fight him in the end?
What about it? Only good RPG on the PSX.
Is there a reason the party characters always look really similar throughout each game?
Feels like it's a scrawny blue haired shooter, a cowgirl with a jacket and a burly man with dreadlocks.
He needed to act as a host to give the universe we were fighting a physical form
Oh that. Man I actually forgot. But I think it had to do with using himself and his sister's body in order to make said alien being able to be killed in the end.
At least I think that was it.
Was it ever confirmed what that "PS4 RPG that combines sci-fi and western elements" job listing at Media.Vision was about? Everyone assumed it was just a new Wild Arms, but that kind of conflicts a bit with Sony's recent sour attitude towards funding their own JRPGs.
I only played the first 3, but only the blue haired character ever stood out to me as a direct copy. Janus is basically evil Ashley.
Maya is a direct copy of Calamity Jane too
>play 2 many years ago
>then play 3 for the first time
>tfw the Child Books
Wholesome as fuck
There was some lorebook that kind of connected the first 3 games. Rudy's arm that gets chopped off gets sent to another dimension, melted down and becomes the Arghet Lahm
>strongest attack is to whack them with your gun
>Rudy's arm that gets chopped off gets sent to another dimension, melted down and becomes the Arghet Lahm
>far stronger if you do the entire attack with no ammo
I really wish I never learned this.
Also, how did you guys build Jet? He always seemed pretty useless to me other than getting in the Accelerator revive fruits now and then.
I know they aren't direct copies. I've only played 3 and just noticed the similar designs.
Was wondering if there's an in-context reason for this or if it's just a design preference or laziness.
I don't get why he need to do this? Why can't he just tell Ashley and the gang his objective? I'm 100% sure they will help him regardless. What's the need for all this scheme and terrorist organizations thing?
Those child books are weird as fuck. Borderline erotic fetishism.
I think it's just a way of giving a nod to the old games. Kind of like how Patches shows up in every Souls game. It's not the same guy and it's not related in any way, it's just some good old self-reference.
I just made him into a support buffer. I thought he was the strongest and coolest on my first run but then on my second run I learned about Clive and his ridiculous Finest Arts
I always thought Clive was the coolest, I was happy to find out he's also the stronkest.
they ripped off the music from the good the bad and the ugly
Based retard
He may have anticipated Lord Blazer too. So he needed to not only prepare the ARMs team, but unite the entire world against Odessa. Which turned out to be enough to prep the world to aid in the final Arc Impulse attack that used everyone's power to Spirit Bomb the fuck out of the last boss.
I also suppose his backup plan was to have Odessa take care of the threat if the ARMs team fucked up. Remember that their goal was world-domination which meant the world would have been united against the oncoming threats one way or another
...Holy shit, we have sherlock holmes in the fucking thread.
How so
wild arms are good up to 2, and wild arms 3 is good up to the end of chapter 3
and then wild arms came down with a fatal case of bad-ending-itus
>dat feel when no sequel really stood a chance against original's theme
WA3 was definitely the most wild west out of the bunch, but it was a relatively early PS2 title and suffered for it very much like Suikoden 3.
WA3 did nothing wrong, user.
I swear to god I'll never understand JRPG devs.
>have backlogs of excellent JRPG series' to draw from
>nah, we'll just forget about them and create new properties instead
>said new games are just watered down and generic takes on those old ideas
It's like only Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest kept making more of what fans wanted. Do creatives behind Wild Arms, Breath of Fire, etc simply don't want to work on them anymore or something?
Nice
its the age old problem that hit jrpgs hard - development costs went up and profits really didn't because they were seen as primarily japanese games. reason why ff and dq got away with it is because one was a genre poster child everywhere and other is a cultural phenomena in japan. your average jrpg simply couldn't keep up.
The advent of HD gaming killed the AA game.
The budgets don't make sense to make JRPGs with the scope they had in the PS2 era. If you're going to make a game that long it will have the budget of an AAA game, but will not get the revenue of an AAA game, so you're options for the most part is to either get that Call of Duty money or go indie.
Suikoden 3 at least looked better than Suikoden 4 did.
>yfw you realized what Fila-Del-Fia actually was
Took my longer than I'd like to admit.
>there are people who enjoy picking the most powerful attack for 2 of 3 characters every battle over and over
Then again, there are people who can play Dragon Quest, fucking clown world
>budget mind
Sadly even JRPGs fell into pursuit hottest graphics trap. Just look at FFXIII. And when they're compromising visually you get some bland shit because artistry isn't there anymore.
I don't think so. Suikoden 3 had severely limited animations.
Sometimes reading it I get a boner.
That says more about you than the books.
Is this game any better than Setsuna. I completely forgot about this game release.
>wild west themed game throughout
>suddenly tokusatsu
youtube.com
I think it's the same mediocrity. I Am Setsuna clearly aped Chrono Trigger.
