At least with Playstation I can connect whatever USB, HDMI and other peripherals I want.

I'm going to go out on a weird branch here and assume you didn't read the article.

>company tells you using 3rd party stuff might fuck up your system
>it actually does
How Nintendo at fault in this at all? It's on the chink dock makers to reverse engineer stuff and make not garbage products.

Knockoffs always have risks associated with them, if anything Chinese electronic counterfeiting has been better than it used to be, leading to complacent consumers.

I've been using nintendo's official USB C to A cable (from pro controller) and a 5V 2A charger to charge it. am I fucked? should I be a good goy and get another Nintendo Switch™ ac adapter?

Nah, you're fine. Just don't use chinese docks.

Is it an off-brand charger? Honestly you're probably fine. This only applies if you hook it up to the sketchiest chinkshit.

charging virtually has zero chance of anything go wrong
the problem is the 3rd party dock didn't have the correct resistor so it fried your charging capibility
yeah to be clear it doesn't fry your switch btw, it fry the charging part which explain why u can't boot up shit because there is no way to get energy in

>people buy Chinese docks
Why?

boards.fireden.net/v/search/image/V3onzfAWaVoKcyE7kOBTgA/
Why do you keep spamming these threads with clickbait news OP?

Is Switch shaping out to be the flimsiest most faulty console ever? 360 was pretty bad with the RRoD but this takes the cake.

What? There is nothing wrong with the console except morons who fry them by hooking it up to 10 dollar Ebay-shit from China.

You haven't heard about the joycon fiasco?

Only happens to early adopters

>charging precious electronics with $5 chinese cords

you deserve your fate, but your switch deserves a better owner.

It's inconvenient, user, but everyone has to deal with people offering rebuttals to their hot opinions online, especially when those are meant to make people mad.

>599$
Is this some Europoor prices or something? In America it doesn't cost nearly that much.

Shut the fuck up dork Nintendo can't make shit, I can plug whatever I want into my S9 it doesn't fry

>Snoy AND Samsungfag

are you really claiming that about samsung, the company most notable in recent memory for having both exploding phones and shattering foldable phones from their factory defaults

He's trolling, even used the exploding model asn an example.

Who mentioned sony? Console fairy. I don't particularly like Samsung but I refuse to own an android that doesn't have a headphone jack and a microsd card slot. Very Limited options now

Okay? They sourced from a bad battery factory and R&Ding a foldable screen is trail and error and why you should never be an early adopter. Nintendo didn't make shit for the switch so they should just source a better USB Controller

The S9 isn't the time bomb

Just like Microsoft did with red rings, though it doesn't magically erase the fact that faulty hardware is faulty.

Where do you think the consoles are made

Attached: 1464994138384.jpg (480x590, 35K)

literally none of what you defended about samsung matters here my dude, I was just saying you gave a stupid ass example when you berated a company for making a product with issues by citing a company that is infamous for much worse issues.

The S9 doesn't have any major issues like that from what I'm aware of. The Note 7 is the exploding phone samsung made.

>PS4 has more games
>PS4 has better hardware
>PS4 has better third-party
>PS4 has better controller
>PS4 has better exclusives
I don't understand the appeal of owning a Switch. Can you people seriously not ride a buss without having to bingbongwahoo?

>third party docks built by retards who can't into electrical engineering brick consoles

Attached: 1546405029060.gif (500x281, 944K)

Three of those points just say games and two of them arguably both say hardware.

I hate Sony but this is 100% Fact

Attached: 1559196506226.png (287x425, 124K)

>PS4 has more games

This is probably the only one that's actually true. All the others are just subjective opinions.

>more games
I don't know if that's still true
>better hardware
hasn't mattered since the PS2/Gamecube era.
>better Third Party
Mostly just the result of being the main platform for AAA trash
>better controller
Pro Controller is better than DS4, and even the joycons aren't half bad for casual play on the couch
>better exclusives
lol

>PS4 has more games
Usually you put the biggest lie at the end so people don't give up immediately.

I'll respond with an epic gif, that'll show him!

Unofficial docks have been frying Switches since the beginning, it's not breaking news.

How delusional can a person get is a question I commonly ask my self it seems nowadays

Are you on crack theres probably 700 more games available on the playstation

>hasn't mattered since the PS2/Gamecube era.
Except last gen when this was a point of hot contention.

But now the reason is known: idiots have been putting in chargers with a voltage 50% higher than the Switch's threshold for that particular port
This is the sort of piece of shit that was made by idiots slapping together cheap equivalents without thinking that some customizations might need to be made.

Among retards who couldn't tell the difference between their two consoles because any aspect other than what their eyes told them was too complicated.
The actual discussion of 360 vs PS3 vs Wii was largely around online infrastructure, as I remember it at least. Basically 360 was best because it had the most competent online infrastructure and most nearly all the same games plus a ton that were better optimized for it.
Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but graphics was only really talked about by retards on this site and normies irl

There was literally a whole half gen upgrades because fixing lack luster hardware was so important. The switch already is a dinosaur compared to the XB1X what happens when the Next Gen Drops and that switch is dead

472860972
This sure is summer Yea Forums isn't it?
I swear to God this place gets worse with every summer
Also fuck you, you're not getting my (You)

The switch is one the few type c devices I've seen not running at the standard 5V of USB. This is clearly forced obsolescence by Nintendo so you have to buy their dock and can't just get a cheap type C to HDMI dongle to keep in your bag so you can set the switch up on a buddy's tv without needing the dock.
>inb4 dock be upscaling
The cheaper adapter would just send a 720p signal to the tv instead

So, why are we talking about this, exactly? The main issue is that retards tried using 3rd party peripherals instead of official ones. Y'know, the $20 AC adapter on Nintendo's official store or $20 adjustable charging stand on their store. Do you really care about saving $10 fucking dollars for chinkshit?
Supposedly it was done because the USB C's original size didn't allow the Switch to easily go on and off the dock

Attached: download.jpg (259x194, 7K)

Then you you don't hate Sony lol, read next time

Attached: b16.jpg (1600x1603, 494K)

>Do you really care about saving $10 fucking dollars for chinkshit?
Yes that's like half a days budget for weed

Well, that's not entirely true.
You can use a cheap type C so long as it's in a sub 9V USB. At least that's what I've done and it doesn't seem to have an effect on my system.
>fixing lack luster hardware was so important.
Except it wasn't.
Let me ask you something: when did the general gaming audience start to care about photo-realistic graphics above all else?
Because here's the real answer: it never really happened. It happened briefly when gaming hit the mainstream and normie audiences can only conceive of something's value the closer it is to an artform they understand, like movies.
But after that point, graphics haven't really been something that holds incredible sway over people's attention or interest.
The half-gen upgrade was to capitalize on the quickly falling cost of graphical power, but it wasn't like anyone was actually asking for it beforehand. It was mostly just something to do to compete with gaming computers that were pumping out comparable power and moving in on the console markets in terms of popularity.
Photorealistic fidelity is a meme that AAA devs push because it's an easy to measure metric of game quality that they can trick normies into valuing. But it doesn't actually translate to game success that much, Quantum Break proved that much.

>The switch already is a dinosaur compared to the XB1X what happens when the Next Gen Drops and that switch is dead

Yet it outperforms and breaks records during this generation proving any tech points moot. That's not the game anymore user, learn and prepare for the future like these companies are

Actually there was that last part with charging using some C to A adapters since some of them have a resistor issue since there are 2 different versions. I assume this isn't unique to the Switch though.

>There was literally a whole half gen upgrades because fixing lack luster hardware was so important
except no one gave a fuck about it until it was announced.
people just wanted their games to play well on ps4, but that can mean just paring back visual fidelity or graphical load to meet the ps4's capabilities more cleanly.
most people were pretty angry that the pro and x were the company's solution to bad game performance instead of, you know, just encouraging games to not have such stupidly high production values

>Third party/unofficial peripherals.
Shut the fuck up, faggot.

>production values
another option would've been to push FPS over resolution or graffixs. but we are not in such a beautiful world

Maybe he's from the future and has the new Vietnam made switches.

>The switch already is a dinosaur compared to the XB1X what happens when the Next Gen Drops and that switch is dead
quantum break and anthem and all the aaa trash have most people apathetic to graphical fidelity.
there's a reason the first real feature that was shown off of the ps5 was an ssd, cause that's at least a semi-meaningful change compared to 'more triangles/shaders'
there's a reason ray tracing, of all graphical technologies, is the hot new thing beyond just being photo-realistic, because shit like quantum break and detroit prove we're at that photo-realistic point already and people are already de-sensitized to those types of improvements, so they're looking for what hot new graphical addition they can trick general audiences into suddenly caring about

You can say success in this industry in general and always been factors far from technical Fidelity and raw power. Keeping your company/games/talent afloat, that's a whole lot of shit to sustain.

No Nintendo is just 3x shittier. Playstation got Yakuza that makes it better than an xbox but worse than a PC for non Yakuza related reasons. Nintendo offers nothing the steam link app, my phone, a 360 controller and a USB Type C Hub (lol) don't surpass it in, I can play it on the go or hook it up to a hotel TV. My Adapter has a Ethernet port for better quality. Then when you look at the switch as a stand alone unit. It's just not worth it to play the worse version of everything just cause you can do it on the go. Only people who have time to play videogames on the go are if your a child who can't drive or a city slicker who has access to public transit. So unless you move alot the switch would remain mostly docked at that point you might as well have another console. Unless you really like the Mario Brothas

Well that usually means paring down production values if you have a standard resolution of 1080x1920.
But I agree, we don't live in a world where meeting a minimum 30 fps is considered a mandatory benchmark. Not that Nintendo games are even that great in this department either but I can appreciate that they at least try to focus on showing off gameplay more (even if the gameplay ends up not being for me)

>Nintendo offers nothing the steam link app, my phone, a 360 controller and a USB Type C Hub (lol) don't surpass it in, I can play it on the go or hook it up to a hotel TV.

Nigga what

I did prepare for the future I own a PC with a shit load of games installed for when the internet goes out next month. The reason the switch sells is because kids like Nintendo and nerds already own a PS4 and "to be a true gamer" you have to own all 3 like some retard

>offers nothing
exclusives
better form factor than what you mentioned.
better reliability since you don't need to hope for good hotel internet (which is very spotty in the west)

>using propriety port instead of standard usb-c
I thought we were past this shit
Stop being jewish and use a fucking standard port

Launch PS2s were pretty bad as well. There was a whole class action against Sony for the lasers failing in those systems which was settled requiring them to fix the issues for free.

>"to be a true gamer" you have to own all 3 like some retard
why is it retarded to want to play all the worthwhile exclusives on each system?

There's plenty of gorgeous looking games that aren't EA, ubishit. Those games suck and that's why no one likes them. Even so good hardware isn't always about graphics. Sometimes I want 100s of troop models in an RTS or I don't want a massive city in city skylines to lag

>exclusives
Breath of the child was on PC day 1 and theres nothing that's not weebshit or child's play on there that's exclusive.
>better form factor
I have access to more powerful hardware with a smaller cargo size. If I have to I use 4G

Because it's not worth spending 400$ to play 9 games on 1 console and never use it again. Or force yourself to buy some multiplats to justify it. Excluding the switch and it's direct lack of 3rd party support every other platform gets the same 97% of games that are multiplat

True, but I would contest that having a situation like that doesn't necessarily mean that you need a ton of horsepower.
Look at the PS2 Spiderman game, it had a pretty solid number of buildings and structures, even if relatively little went on at the street level.
And as for RTS games, we've had those with good looking 2D graphics since forever.
My overall point here is that while some genres have taken advantage of the incidental wealth of graphical power that this industry arms race has given the consumer, I wouldn't say that it's actually a wealth that has come at any significant benefit to the games in the industry. It's brought some incidental benefits like having more detailed RTS units or having fairly detailed buildings and cars in Skylines, but it's not something that the average consumer is asking for more of because so long as the games look good enough and run well that the gameplay experience isn't hampered, it ultimately doesn't really matter to most consumers how many TFLOPS something has unless some new game has been somehow designed explicitly around only looking good at 10 TFLOPS or some shit.
All in all, I think that's actually bad art design, if your game only looks good at the cutting edge of consumer graphics. Like I said, I think we've hit significant diminishing returns on graphical improvement since the PS2/Gamecube era. I haven't really seen anything that uses all this excess power in a way that I find more impressive than the nomura-spectacle bullshit in KH2 (not even KH3 for that matter)

Splatoon? Mario + Rabbids? Smash? Mario Maker 2? The upcoming Astral Chain?

>Because it's not worth spending 400$ to play 9 games on 1 console and never use it again
Okay, but that's what can be said of any console. PC gaming blows everything out of the water if we're going purely on the basis of entertainment per dollar spent

So much mario brothers don't you ever get tired of the same old same old since 1985. I get mario maker is nice but it's still gonna get boring like regular mario does

It's almost as if it's a game built on user-created content, so it basically has infinite content, particularly weird shit that Nintendo wouldn't think to think of but some sadist did.
The puzzle levels are honestly really solid, they feel pretty distinct from normal Mario design but the polish is still there.

Sonyfags will never make this argument about the PC though.

there is no point in owing a ps4

Yes but I understand the notion that someone who doesn't want a PC just "wants to game bruh" and I don't judge them for spending 400$ on a playstation. But if you're gonna like 800$ on the consoles then possibly spend over 100$ a year on xbl gold and PS+. you should consider yourself a enough of an enthusiast to justify the 10 more IQ required to have a gaming PC. Also I get why children get consoles

>i bought a $5 dock from aliexpress to overclock my tablet!
>wait wtf y is my tablet broke?

Especially with PSNow
Why bother buying or owning a PS4 when you can just rent one for all the worthwhile games and then drop it.

Obviously you didn't read the article. The cause of the frying was because the 3rd parties were cutting corners and not including a power delivery chip in their docks frying the switch's chip. The fried chip seems to be fairly easy to get since there are many repair shops that order them for 3rd party switch repairs.

Okay, so I don't understand how you're drawing a difference between people buying a console like the PS4 or Xbone and people buying the Switch

The switch has less library and the worse hardware. The xbox and PS4 are a much better choice if you can only afford one

>when the internet goes out next month
tf are you talking about

Either the big one will be fucking up cali where 14% of all the shit google has stored lives. Or cyber warfare is on the horizon. August 7th Fema is running EMP warnings and this test is being conducted for the 1st time 100% offline

This. I dunno how this problem got swept under the rug so thoroughly.
A fuckton of people who experienced the problem didn't even know the class action happened and getting it fixed was a thing.

Those fuckers stole my expansion bay cover when I sent mine in. I will never not be mad.

>Either the big one will be fucking up cali where 14% of all the shit google has stored lives
people have been saying that for years
>August 7th Fema is running EMP warnings and this test is being conducted for the 1st time 100% offline
lay off the tin foil bud

Google it pussyfoot.

I only found out about it cause a friend gave me his PS2 after he bought a new one. After a bit of research I found out about the class action and got it repaired for free (minus shipping).

Google what? Half of what you said just reads like some mish mash of conspiracy nonsense I've heard a dozen different ways over the years

Google when fema is conducting the test fool

what test what the fuck are you talking about

Phoneposting still not range banned yet, why?

>Buying Nyko anything

Only the docks cause issues everything else you can china out all day.

Unlike your broke ass I can afford Yea Forums pass so I can do as I please

Best Buy's dock has yet to give me a single problem.

>tfw the disc drive they replace the faulty one with is essentially immortal and my PS2 will never die as a result
Seeing how Sony now hates reverse compatiblity with every fiber of their being, I guess shit sort of worked out in the end for the victims.

Mentally ill OP continues his epic three year crusade against the Switch.

What a pathetic loser lmao

Repost

But the Switch is outpacing the amounts of exclusives it gets by more than 2:1 compared to PS4.

>PS4 After 6 years: 80 exclusives
>Switch after 2,5 years: 50 exclusives

Take note though, the exclusives here exclude ports and enhanced editions, though the PS4 wiki page still lists cancelled games like PT and Deep Down, so its less than 80 really.

Attached: 50613884_1219996074821748_3463256478381506560_n.png (960x786, 665K)

it never happened.

It's got nothing to do with exclusives. It's lack of everything else

>There is one area in which the rumors of Switches getting bricked due to proprietary, non-standard Nintendo design is correct, however. Nintendo wanted the Switch to slide very smoothly in and out of its dock—but the USB-C mechanical design spec doesn't allow for that. So Nintendo's own dock for the Switch is very slightly narrower than the USB-C standard in order to provide the desired smooth slide instead of the usual snug click.

>Third parties want to emulate that mechanical feel as closely as possible, but there's no published standard—they basically just take a stab at it and hope for the best. Given that the standard already has pins spaced only 0.5mm apart, even a slight design or manufacturing defect is likely to cause a port to fail

That's bullshit they could just measure an official switch dock to get the proper measurements. It's 2019 we have lasers

if you have a PC, there is literally no use gettinga PS4 since the libraries overlap 95% of the time, to get the widest selection, you gotta go PC+Nintendo, and MAYBE a PS4 if you have money left.

t. idort with PC, Switch and PS4.

Attached: 1526869225055.jpg (750x742, 131K)

In europe it's€350 (that's with taxes included). It's probably canadian dollars or dollaridoos.

Or nintenjews could use a standard port instead of fucking the consumer

Are you a retard that didn't even read the article? It's the 3rd party docks that are not USB-C PD compliant

> Like many cheap USB-C chargers, the Nyko dock does not actually have a dedicated PD controller; it instead implements the PD protocol using a general purpose microcontroller—and that microcontroller was sending 9V to the Switch over the CC pin, exceeding the absolute maximum voltage rating by 50%.

If you cheap out like a chimp, don't blame anyone when it fries

Okay this goes back to my ain't idort rantings. I don't feel like it. All I'm gonna say is that 1000$ for the switch + ps4 + plus some games. Is it worth it for Sony Exclusives and Nintendo Exclusives? While it's completely subjective that 1000$ would be more beneficial personally in getting a mondo better GPU for my PC. I'm saying if you can only get 1 console don't make it the switch. Especially if you don't like jap shit

>exceeding the absolute maximum voltage rating by 50%
Christ, what is wrong with chinese people

Literal ""whataboutism"
A company has shitty practices to make you scared of using 3rd party peripherals and you are such a fucking shill all you can say is "well other companies have issues too!" You see how dumb you sound?

Back when the third-party docks were actually starting to come out people figured out pretty quick to stay away from chinkshit like Nyko because it wasn't actually electrically compliant. I'm not sure why hardware issues from launch that were then resolved or weren't even huge issues like joycon sticks drifting (take the cap off and blow under it) and third-party docks frying your system (they didn't care enough to actually replicate the dock and cheaped out, people spread the word when Switches got fried) are starting to crop up all over again and people who didn't care then suddenly care now.

The port is standard but the connector isn't. 3rd party dock makers could use a standard connector but it wouldn't slide in and out smoothly like the standard Nintendo's.

Falling for falseflagging

Exactly I would be pissed at Samsung for the exact same thing. More importantly when those phones were blowing up they all got recalled and discontinued. The switch will always have this defect probably

Sell them lathered in grease
