When are we getting a real succesor to this?

When are we getting a real succesor to this?

And don't say Switch. I don't care about mediocre ports, it's too big to be a real portable and it only has one screen.

Nintendo shilled so hard that having two screens is a better experience than having one, why go back on it?

We aren't. Switch is the future of handheld nintendo

Nintendo has successfully merged their home console and portable console into one system. We are gonna be stuck with Switch shit for a long time.

I don't see how they could continue the DS family anymore. I guess they could just start shrinking it down again like with the gameboy micro.

>Nintendo's newest handheld is the Switch
>don't say Switch
DS is done like Gameboy, sorry

Fuck circle pads. They’re annoying to replace.
The vita sticks are the only portable console with non-dpad controls that last

rip Nintendo DS/3DS line
was the best drawing tablet I've ever had.

It might be a handheld but it sure isn't portable. Even the switch lite looks too fucking big to feasibly carry around

this wouldve been a better switch mini design

thank fuck the DS is finally dead

dual screen is the worst gimmick ever created

>successfully
The only people who play the switch portably are children, autists and attention whores on reddit. Even at home the only way to play the switch was docked, Wii U gamepad was comfier to use for comfy beed posting, unlike the switch. The joycons always felt like they would snap off, cope harder drift fag.

>Etrian Odyssey is virtually dead

It feels so bad, bros.

Wrong. Made certain game genres much better, but you're probably a shitch babby and wouldn't have even touched these kinds of games

Aren't they getting a switch game soon?

>All that time drawing Flipnotes
Holy fuck
Where have all the years gone?

>one screen
Probably why he thinks it's virtually dead

I carry mine with all its games in a case whenever I'm out and have free time, just like I did with my 3DS, DS Lite, PSP, GBA, etc

its only issue is that it's gonna be tough as fuck to play DS games in the coming decades cause of that gimmick, developers really just don't care about their games' legacy

They've still successfully merged them retard
The big selling point of the switch is that it is a handheld that can play on your tv just like any other home console, and it's working.
People are buying the SHIT out of the switch whether you like it or not, and DS sales are going down.

>worst gimmick ever created
clearly it sold well
if you're going to make it clamshell you may as well put a screen on both sides

I don't care for using a case to carry my handheld. 3DS is perfect because I can just throw it in a hoodie pocket. Switch is way too big for this so I never take it outside

Of course it's selling a shitload, it's a next gen console with no competition. When the PS5 and Scarlet release however that'll change, Nintendo has to literally stay one console generation ahead to even stay in the same conversation.

And no hun it's not a handheld you can plug into your tv it's a gimped home console you can lug around with you if you're wearing jnco jeans.

found the poorfag with only one monitor/tv

3ds line is dead faggot, switch reigns supreme

3ds line isn't even a goo successor to ds thanks to less focus on touchscreen, which was it's best part.

We may see the next switch by the time ps5 and scarlet release, and it will probably be cheaper. People will still be buying the switch lite by then as well.
>And no hun it's not a handheld
It's literally a hybrid bro. You can play it docked or play it in handheld mode. The switch lite will have the same power while being a 'proper' handheld.

When are we getting a real successor to this?
We won't. The 3DS blew itself up and didn't have a quality library like the DS.
>No great pokemon games
>Only Xenoblade being worth "new"
>Most boring Mario Kart
>Mediocre Mario Party
>Wii U ate it's game development for 1st parties
>Lack of L2, R2, and 2nd stick at launch so it was far too late.
>Phones had more power when it launched, fails to do HD, and 3D gimmick.

The things deader than a 3D TV, I still have more fun with the DS' and PSP library than this soulless piece of shit.

>Even the switch lite looks too fucking big to feasibly carry around
It looks like it just might be able to fit in a large pocket, but without the clamshell design you would need a slim pouch to slip it into anyway

This. Unless developers convert DS games to have menus/maps when you pause, 2/3rds of the library is gone. The other games that use both screens are gimmicky and pointless.

Yeah, I also acknowledge nuNintendo is retarded since the switch is far inferior to the DS line

You're exaggerating, the 3DS library is worse than the DS' but it was still very solid.

why dont you play ds games on the 3ds you autist

>le hybrid console no one plays on the go
Ok buddy

Attached: 1444325854710.jpg (1064x983, 86K)

I own an N3DSxl, retard. It's only good for DS games because the 3DS library is lacking even after I modded it. It's also better to use for GBA games at this point.

Nintendo's next system will probably return to this format when the mini Switch model outsells the original retarded piece of shit.

But it's literally Switch
besides do we really want 5000 more shovelware games that make menial or no use of screen 2?

What are you on about? Plenty of games made excellent use of both screens.

>no one plays on the go
>source: my big stinky bum bum
Everyone who owns a switch uses it mobile from time to time. Why limit yourself to your tv?

I assumed the switch lite would be pocket sized but Nintendo decided to be completely autistic

You mean pointless pause menus and maps? Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, and all other 1st parties didn't need it.
Unless you're talking about smartphone tier games, the double screens are worthless. Only game I can think of is TWEWY and even that got fixed on the Switch.

>twewy
>fixed on the switch

Work on your bait, even the biggest nintendies don't believe this.

>it only has one screen
>implying that’s a bad thing

>Hoodie pocket
Hi zoomer.

>Plenty
No. Only 999 and TWEWY made decent use of both screens.

>everything crammed on one screen
>no second screen for UI stuff

Sure, if those were the only two games you played

>When are we getting another gimmicky piece of shit with a dedicated map screen
Hopefully never.
>It’s too big to be a real portable
You’re too young to be posting here.

The cope is real.

Imagine a Switch with 2 screens...

>the point is that you can *switch* between screens

Attached: 1544764553379.gif (360x359, 1.65M)

Circle pads are the peak of video game controls, they're far better than analog sticks, especially those things on the Vita (which has a great D-Pad to make up for it) and the Joycons.

>Has been the case with every other console, never an issue unless the developers are incompetent
>Muh second screen
I couldn’t see the second screen outdoors because of how fucking reflective it is.

Anyway, having a second screen on the bottom compromises the controller layout. Having the D-pad located directly under the Circle-pad is unergonomic as fuck. That’s enough of a reason to never revisit the dual screen gimmick.

You're too much of a nintendo cocksucker to be in my thread. Maybe the switch fits in your JNCO jeans fine when you're deepthroating Nintendo's board of investors but for the rest of us it is too big. No, I don't give a fuck if you had a ganegear you could fit in your asshole, it's impractical in this day and age.

It's fine on a TV since there's a lot more screen real estate to use but having a map or items on the bottom screen, on a tinier handheld screen, worked great.

that’s the second time you’ve mentioned jinco jeans now, be more creative

>Nintendo cocksucker
>While I’m shitting on two of their most popular handhelds
Tbh I don’t care much for the Switch either. Always play it docked with a Pro Controller because it has the same shitty control layout most handhelds do. I was hoping for a clamshell Switch so we could get a control layout more akin the to GPD XD or Win.
>Impractical
Most handhelds are impractical, unless you want a tiny screen. Whenever I’m playing my portables away from home it’s usually at a hotel or camping so I’ll have a case or bag with me.

So, the Wii U?

the wii who?

Lol nope, faggot.

For every game that utilized the dual screens, there's literally 50 that use it as an abject map or picture of the dudes face

>it doesn't work unless I say so
Seething

Correct. Add that the DS touchscreen is just a glorified menu add-on or the entire touchscreen game plays on the bottom.
The human eyes can't be fixated on both screens doing different things at once, hence why TWEWY is "challenging". Just make an HD Gameboy Advance instead of battery wasting double gimmicks.

>Only game I can think of is TWEWY and even that got fixed on the Switch.
Nah, fuck you.

>no retort
Thanks, you mad and btfo.

>lightning rook is somehow even more OP than in the original game and cheeses most endgame encounters
>several bosses and enemies got nerfed as shit due to the change to the single screen format, such as Konishi, the elephants, and the giant bat
>motion controls are a bust
>ruins the original’s theme of teamwork and companionship
>replaces the method of getting Fusion Stars with braindead minigames
Oh yeah, sure is fixed.

git gud

Switch is more a VITA successor, than a 3DS one.

Same overpriced shit games but with actually worse performance

What exactly is there to git gud at? Switch version is arguably easier than the DS version due to how you can stunlock enemies to death with your partner, who’s even invincible on top of that.

>lightning rook is somehow even more OP
Then don't use it.
>several bosses and enemies got nerfed
Opinion. You already have experience and the double screens make it a challenge. Who cares?
>motion controls are a bust
Lol, no. It works just fine.
>ruins the original’s theme of teamwork and companionship
Dude, that isn't even a problem. More like a nitpick for a remaster.
>replaces the method of getting Fusion Stars with braindead minigames
Which is even easier and less complicated.

I guess the point is that you have beaten TWEWY DS before and now expect the same challenge on the Switch. The Switch fixed all the tedious shit and complaints in the first place. Stop cheesing the game and then complaining "it's too easy".

>Then don't use it.
>expecting people to not use an overpowered solution to literally else
For fuck’s sake, Lightning Rook is practically Darklit Planet tier
>Opinion. You already have experience and the double screens make it a challenge. Who cares?
The people who played the original game for starters. And it isn’t just an opinion when the ultimate secret boss can get stunlocked to death like in this vid.
youtu.be/nXW_2meq6d4
>Dude, that isn't even a problem. More like a nitpick for a remaster.
>gameplay that actively goes against the themes of the original story and Neku’s character arc
>not a problem
>Which is even easier and less complicated.
And also less engaging and is more abusable as hell.
>I guess the point is that you have beaten TWEWY DS before and now expect the same challenge on the Switch. The Switch fixed all the tedious shit and complaints in the first place. Stop cheesing the game and then complaining "it's too easy".
And replaced it with even more tedious and slowed down gameplay in comparison as well as trash new content that pisses all over the original ending. Also
>using the mechanics of the game is cheesing it
All in all, your argument comes across as incredibly weak.

I hate nintendo usually rehashing stuff but i would love to see a 3ds with a higher res

The 3d would be a lot better i think with a higher res
