I disagree, I've been playing a modpack called tekxit 3 which is pretty much a newer tekkit and i'm enjoying it so far, the only things that are different are slightly different crafting recipes but everything from OG tekkit is there but updated.

I don't think it's that, it's that people who grew up on minecraft are now entering the site, some were already here posting underage, but this site gains more traffic than it loses and there are now enough of them to voice their opinions and not get banned for it.

Honestly I'm not that surprised and wouldn't be surprised if it had another revival after this surge of popularity fizzles out.
Part of it is children, I think as long as video games remain a popular medium of choice Minecraft will always be able to latch onto the minds of kids, particularly kids who have early interests in engineering and architecture. I also think adults who grew up with the game will always come back to it at some point for nostalgic reasons, as we can already see it happening today.

Minecraft is going to last for generations. I don't even think it'll ever get a true "sequel", maybe upgrades once better computing methods become available to the public, but there will never be a Minecraft 2, because there doesn't ever need to be. Minecraft as a piece of software is so versatile and modifiable that I think they could stop cramming out updates and it'd still last a very long time.

I never ended up buying it in the very early days when it was like, 5-10 bucks, I just bummed off of a friend's copy. Later, my justification was that I didn't want to give notch money. I regret all of that, because now it's ~27 dollars, and although I'd like to play it again I don't think it's worth that at all.

Is there any sense to buying the W10 copy? It's much cheaper, and I presume no mods work for it.
