TF2's Crate Depression

While I'm happy I got to dab on tradefags and that I get to keep my first unusual, isn't this illegal? This has to violate some kind of act, they've changed the other unusuals we bought after we bought them.

Then refund it?

How does this change the fact that it's seemingly illegal to do this? I could've earned more than the 3 bucks I spent buying the crates if they were tradable.

>isn't this illegal?
No.

/thread

How is it not?

how does it violate a law?

I purchased something, and they changed it after the fact.

>Wtf they nerfed this gun I bought! That's not what I paid for!
That's how stupid you sound.

Are you autistic? That analogy is terrible. If someone purchased these unusuals in hope of profit, how is it fair for Valve to just change them to stop that?

Doesn't matter if it's illegal because even if it is nobody will do anything about it

It's their service, their game, their platform. If you hoped to do anything you play by their rules, that's in their TOA.

TOA can't violate the law.

Which law?

>he spends money on pretend hats

Whatever they do to you, you deserve

UK Trade Descriptions Act.
Several other EU Acts too.

Its a digital object, it has no value. The value it has is being sold on the steam market which essentially is just Valves money anyway since theres no way of getting it out.

Damn, if it's that obvious and egregious I wonder why no-one is doing anything about it. Give me your biggest think about it.

If you were unboxing those crates once they were several dollars. You knew they were bugged and were exploiting.

You couldn't get the other items that were promised in the crate. They'd have done it both ways. It's only fair. If anything more so since you got to keep them.

People give things value. If someone wants something to have value, it will.

The ones I bought were 1.50$. Exploiting a bug is not illegal but what they are doing now is.

>People give things value.
Exactly. But the object itself has no value.

>Valve only has two blog posts this year
>No word about cheating, balance, performance
>Hatfags get their feelings hurt
>Valve makes a blogpost
Trader mains and comp ruined TF2
Still already had a Cheater's Lament tho lol

Refund and reroll and you'll get what you were promised when you open a crate.

If you don't like that what are you even expecting!?

You can refund the $1.50 you paid if you are not happy with their decision. I fail to see how they're doing anything illegal.

No objects have value until people give it value. When people saw shiny rocks, they might've given it value because it makes good tools. Value is almost arbitrary.
I got something, and they changed it. Why should I have to reroll? What if I liked the thing I got? If they did this with normal crates, it wouldn't be okay.
The UK Trade Descriptions Act and several other laws and Acts in Europe are being broken. If you like the hat, but wanted it in it's original form, why should they have the right to change it?

Are you going to sue Valve over your digital hat or not.

They are not breaking any laws and you are retarded. Go ahead, try to sue them and waste your money.

>muh acts
no one cares dumb trader main
this is what you get for throwing more money at a shitty company like valve

>trader main
What..?
I'm advocating for ALL of the hats to be tradable. That would crash the economy.
Are you braindead?

holy shit people actually use the steam market lmao
Have you ever heard of marketplace.tf?

dumb trader main

TF2 has changed many times over the years after I purchased it, is that illegal?

dumb trader main

dumb trader mains

>game receives an update, changing a product which you have bought
ISN'T THIS ILLEGAL GUYS???

You mean the third party website that violates valves terms of service, and would automatically invalidate any attempt at a lawsuit?

Even if it is, what are you going to do about it bitch boy? Oh right, nothing

>form of entertainment
>a purchased item
>comparing the two

They're offering refunds for the rest, it'd only be illegal if they outright deleted the unusuals

>TF2 went free 2 play i want my money back!!!

That's the community given value. The object itself holds no value. The object is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

I can't believe I share a board with people this stupid.

Wrong post.

So is the economy fucked or is it healing?

It will stabilize in a few months.

>unboxed and sold unusuals a good number of times during the fiasco
>ended up with one unusual before the thing was patched
>said unusual was tradable this morning
>now it's untradable

How is this actually going to work, because I opened a few crates and just insta sold them and only kept one hat. Is that hat going to stay untradeable and fuck me over or will it become tradeable by the end of the week?
