How the hell did he cut 22 seconds from one split?
He died in CCM in his previous WR
it will be disqualified
Shame.
holy shit this is scandalous, if he doesn't have a local recording he is finished.
it should be scandalous either way
there is no other way to watch the world record for the most popular and prestigious speedrun ever without DICKS DICKS DICKS spamming in chat overlayed on gameplay.
he doesn't local record to my knowledge. his previous WR uploaded and submitted was his twitch vod only
there's no question about it then, this run is not valid. How does speedrun.com verify their runs and will they take this capture card fault into consideration?
speedrunning communities are notorious for caring little to none about the presentation quality of their speedruns to broader audiences. all they care about is "le going fast", often forsaking sensible accommodations to make their runs look better even when it takes no effort to do so.
i dont think the sm64 mods care at all about chat or FAGLORD DONATED 200 BITS overlaid on the game, since it has been accepted several times before
regarding the capture issue, its up to the mario community again (speedrun.com has no universal jurisdiction, all games enforce themselves). one would think this should DQ it for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if the sentimentality of everyone with the first 138 run happening overrides the otherwise obvious decision to disallow the run to be ranked.
hmmmm
so it's more about the novelty rather than the quality. Cheese sycophants are obnoxious as hell too so they would consider it a crime against humanity if the "first" 138 would be rejected even if it is a fair reason to reject. I know puncayshun locally records, if he's to get 138 there'll be no question of its authenticity.
share this around, don't let it get buried in the sea of disinformation.
>i missed the 1:38
any idea in what way?
>his face when he realizes it froze
unoptimized memegame
other twitch streams, reddit, twitter, relevant discords, whatever else you can think of. if cheese submits the run then it shouldn't be verified at all otherwise this community has no integrity at all.
For some reason I thought this already happened.
Is 64 played rarely enough that the previous WR had a death? Or is it just that difficult?
It's the most played speedrun on earth, its just hard to play the entire game at top skill without large mistakes
he got it while i was at work, guess its time to quit
SM64 is the most popular speed game by number of runners, it's just that 120 star is both a lengthy and difficult category in a 3D game with complex movement. Even this new WR has plenty of mistakes and time-losses in it. There's also been a decent amount of new strats discovered over the past year, or old strats which were thought unviable but revisited in a new light.
70 is more digestible as a category. 16 is kind of lame, while 120 is grueling.
