Why is the DQ11 doing so bad in West? Not even 10% of the sales are from there.

Square isn't used to having to market it in the US, usually they have Nintendo do it for them.
It's gonna sell extremely well on Switch thanks to Smash
Because if it's developed by Square Enix and it doesn't say "Final Fantasy" on it the west doesn't give a fuck about it.
>implying
Smashbabies hate him because he's a generic anime swordman, despite the fact that he's extremely unique while competitivefags hate him because of RNG
DQ is fucking dead bros
its trash
>thanks to nintendo actually marketing it
Fixed that for you
It's so fucking old and stale. I tried playing it and had to put it away after a few hours. I used to love turn based but it's so boring now, particularly in this game where it feels like it added nothing to the table.
the game is boring garbage and only old people like it.
Yet you Amerifats buy the same old and stale shit every year too so don't think you're above this.
rehashed shit ad nauseum
really bad
terrible looking artstyle
cheesy
kiddie
Isn't 4 million like a super huge sales figure for Japan? They'd make a killing if this game had popularity outside of JP
Because DQ has never done good in the west.
It has been nearly the exact same game every time.
When people think JRPG they think Dragon Quest. Because of the stale as all shit combat system.
Yeah 4 mil is good. I think its more than P5 I'm not sure
west isn't relevant
The shit translation and sub-Nickelodeon tier voice acting probably has something to do with it.
Let NISA market it, they'll do a better job than SE lmao
pathetic
not.sure what's wrong with Nickelodeon voice acting
Because it's a bland and boring series. DQ is creatively bankrupt and not fit for beasts, let alone men
Dragon Quest is a soulless shit franchise where every character is just a combination of generic Toriyama assets and the gameplay consists of nothing but extremely vanilla, textbook JRPG basics.
If you've played one DQ game you really did play them all, at least with other mainstream JRPGs like Final Fantasy, you get something different with every entry.
DQ is a horrible series and I have no clue how people eat it up. Its the same shit every game with no innovation where its the exact same as the fucking first game the only difference is its in 3d now. It only sells well because of its name recognition.
marketing
imagine if Square gave even the slightest fuck about pushing DQ in the west
they don't push it at all
like, DQ8 did like 400k western, DQ9 did like 1mil western, and they didn't feel like launching DQX in the west because they don't market DQ at all
600k isn't even bad for the series
>Isn't 4 million like a super huge sales figure for Japan?
Yes.
>square-enix doesn't care about dragon quest in the west
>same company that actively prevented releasing dragon quest x in the west because it would "compete" with ff14
>same company that is too retarded to get the switch version to the west since ff14 isn't on the system so it's an untapped market
I bought the PC version.
I regret it.
you've made this thread at least three times
battle for bikini bottom will probably have better cutscenes in all honesty
>not even 10#
That's roughly 20, actually.
This board is retarded. Probably because of all the masturbation.
Still better than any WRPG
Seethe more you fucking slant.
DQ NEVER sells well in the west.
Localize DQX you cowards
>600k
>not 10% of 4000k
user...
It came out right after spiderman and right before tomb raider
Eat my shit. It's the only food you can afford.
It still likely sold better than Tomb Raider, though.
nulara's game price cratered within the same month it released, gotta flop BAD to be half-off that fast.
because they're all the fucking same
aint nobody got time for no slow ass menu bullshit
Because the West won't buy JRPGs unless you can crank the difficulty down to Very Super Casual mode and mash 'X' through every battle just to get to the part where they can go to high school but be cool this time instead of a lonely fucking loser.
The Dragon Quest franchise is pretty easy, its just tedious. DQ VII was impressive with how much it wanted to waste your time. The RDR 2 of jrpgs.
only nips want to play this bullshit. it's the most boring kind of game that exists
Nintendo's gotta step in and fix their shit every other game apparently.
Despite what the lonely virgins on 4channel.org would have you believe, weebshit just isn't all that popular in the West.
Dragon Quest's fumbled release in the west back in the day basically killed any knowledge or interest in it really hard because it just got buried by Final Fantasy and will unfortunately always be seen as the inferior sibling over here
>Because the West won’t buy a JRPG unless it’s [a 100% accurate description of Dragon Quest’s difficulty].
It’s for elementary schoolers, user.
It's been several decades already and yet the gameplay is still just select super effective attack from a menu and watch epic battle cutscene. Even lowest common denominator turds like Cowadoody and FIFA have a more engaging gameplay, you weebtards.
This is objectively false, since DQ laid down the basics a lot of other JRPGs stole from it.
Stealing from Wizardry and Ultima for the groundwork? DQ1.
Forming parties? DQ2.
Remember class systems? DQ3.
Auto Battle System? DQ4.
Monster Collecting and sending out monsters to battle for you? DQ5 and 6, which became so well received it inspired its own spin-off for the Game Boy Colour.
I could go on.
Shitting on Toriyama is also a mute point since DQ started when he was still in his classic DB/Dr. Slump style, and DQ has been going through all of his art style shifts. It's not like he's FKMT and found the art style befitting his work and his work habits, he changes with the times.
I also expect you to shit on the story next, and I'll say, DQ has had only 5 chosen one stories. DQ1-4, and 11 which is a callback to the original trilogy. 5-9 is you being cucked out of the chosen one role by your son or a party member, or you're the equivalent of a desk jocky, and DQX is a MMORPG.
DQ games also pushed the bounds for storytelling in a JRPG constantly, DQ3 and 4 being fairly major for their stories, as was V in a different way.
See above.
Also, it doesn't spam releases as much as FF. DQ had 3 games out by the time FF started. Now FF has like 19 mainline games if we count the XIII trilogy as separate games and X-2 as well as IV: The After Years as separate entries, and this isn't counting stuff like VII's multiple spin-offs or Dissidia or Kingdom Hearts.
DQ puts varied spin-offs inbetween major releases, like the already mentioned Monster Collecting side series, Dragon Quest Monsters, there's Builders (a Minecraft like), Heroes (musou), Rocket Slime, and much more.
Why don't Dragon Ball fans like Dragon Quest?
You'd think Latin America would be in on it given they have a hard on for Toriyama and they're also full of weebs
Forgot an image.
Focus on the Japanese boxarts, the character drawings at the top were done well after the original release. The boxarts are Toriyama's style at that time and they are a great view of his artstyle shift.
This also shows how a mainline DQ title has become essentially an event. DQXI came out in 2017, that's also why it's so heavy on past game nostalgia, as it's the 30 year anniversary of the series.
Actual DB fans do like DQ.
DB secondaries that watch the dub or their deepest experience with anime outside of DB is Naruto or Wan Piss don't care for or don't like DQ because they think it's a DB ripoff or it got into Smash over their favourite nobody.
>not even 10% of the sales are from there
How many times did you fail math class?
