keep driving and try to understand basic shit like weight transfer, tire temperature and what is understeer and oversteer. go slow to go fast.
when you've got basic vehicle theory handled, learn about racing lines and curve apexes
only after that you should start to even think about going racing
or you could just buy forza and make a 1000hp viper and btfo the bots on easy and pretend to be a driving god, if you don't want to spend time getting good. thats fine too

I tried Forza 7 only because it had a lot of Group C/Le Mans Prototypes in it and it was the only way to race in the Nurburgring without having to buy a seat/wheel setup
Driving physics are a little bit easier than GT but the AI is a lot better than GT's, so beating it feels a lot more rewarding. Online mode is a fucking mess and you can't even choose the track you want to race in, avoid online at all costs.

The Gran Turismo games on PS2 came with little inlets on racing theory. They were like 5 pages long and pretty much covered everything you'll ever need to know. He's making it sound a lot more complex than it is because he wasted so much time learning it.
