Will you be experiencing the true classic mmo experience this October? You aren't a casual zoomer, right user?
Will you be experiencing the true classic mmo experience this October? You aren't a casual zoomer, right user?
is it going to be less of a pain in the ass to use now?
What is it, just a server reset?
I played an EQ clone (ffxi) for much longer than i'd like to admit, i dont know if it's worth playing this at all though
As a huge FFXI player, I've spent at least a thousand hours in Nasomi and been playing on Eden, Everquest has a better interface and feels less tedious to do simple things without macros.
Being designed with the PS2 in mind really makes FFXI's feel sluggish and delayed, not to mention the 29fps cap and how poorly it runs with uncapped fps.
While I can play EQ with a 144hz monitor everything feels much more response, the movement is super clunky but I find it more enjoyable after you get past the learning curve.
How grindy is Everquest? By comparison it took me like a year of playing Warsong Gulch to just get the epic legplates, is WoW casual in comparison?
So what's going on? Just a new server opening up from the beginning? Maybe I'll check it out since I didn't hop on the train way back when. I liked EQ2 and FFXI, so I'm sure that I'd enjoy EQ1.
It's grindier but it's a pve game, if you spent a year playing warsong gulch instead of raiding you probably wouldn't want to play a game that's only pve.
No, p99 is run by corrupt scum and the playerbase is full of morons. Classic-velious being the worst expansions in the game is also a thing. Don't listen to nostalgiafags, the game doesn't start until PoP. Luclin is okay too.
>it took me like a year of playing Warsong Gulch to just get the epic legplates
I think that's a bad comparison just because the time required to get Exalted reputation with a faction is somewhat static and you can influence that by playing more. You could be progressing at a rate of 1 battleground per week and still eventually hit exalted. A lot of things in both WoW and EQ can't be achieved at all if you only play a hour per week.
What you say sounds concerning but also holds no weight because I haven't really heard anyone else say that about p99. To be fair I also haven't played on p99 but I certainly would be interested to go have a look if there's a new server going. The main thing that has had me decide against it was that the server had already been live for so long.
Now, if you'd be interested to go more in depth I'd very much like to hear it because these are the types of games you spend hundreds if not thousands of hours playing and I'd rather not find some hundreds of hours in that you were right.
Apparently the top guilds have GM players who gatekeep endgame content from those who aren't in the "inner circle". Not sure how valid this is because I only play P99 casually, but from my experience the player-base is generally pleasant and welcoming to new players.
the only MMO I ever cared about is realm of the mad god and even then a good half of my thousand+ hours is just chatting in the nexus
I'd rather play Asheron's Call than EverQuest and I'd rather not play Asheron's Call at all
Jesus fuck you have nostalgia goggles on if you remember this being fun. The zones and atmosphere were fantastic but the leveling was slow and painful. You'd stay in zones for weeks leveling beating up the same pack of giant badgers/mushroom people/skeletons.
You could train enemies and trade weapons to mobs who would equip them if they were the right class.
I just want classic Ultima Online, man.
Never played before, but I'm willing to give it a try. This is like FFXI where you need a static party to level, right?
Would anyone be willing to teach me/play with me when the time comes? Would be interesting to get a group or guild from Yea Forums, but I feel like only a couple people will even bother to play.
You can solo depending on your class.
Necromancers, Shamans, and Magicians are especially good at soloing but most classes will need a group. You can also get by without a full party.
what about Shadow knights? Can they solo well? Or are their pet/dots too weak compared to a necro?
SK pets are much weaker than necro's. They are probably the best melee class for solo aside from maybe Monk though.
Be aware it's a hybrid class like Paladin and Ranger which get a pretty bad XP penalty.
What kind of bard skill bindings are recommended besides /stopsong?
They solo fine. Not necro druid mage tier by a long shot but leagues better than non monk melee.
The pet is garbage and the dots more a little extra damage or keeping shit on you in groups. What really helps you solo is darkness, fear, and life drain spells/procs, and fd when it all goes to shit.
What the fuck is coming in October?
>Luclin
>good
holy shit this is the most wrong opinion i have ever seen. Between the busted shit graphic overhaul, how BLATANTLY unfinished and full of stop-gap keying turbogrinds it was, Luclin was THE expansion to make you finally go "yeah i'm out." Anyone who stayed there deserved to suck Smedley's big fat stinky cock, which Furor and Tigole made sure to bitch about the whole time BUT THEY KEPT SUKKEN--until they finished making WoW and shilled it to their followers.
meanwhile real chads quit EQ to go play DAoC and raided emain. school those alby zergs.
P99 is starting a new server, a progression server.
>MMO
I sleep
does anyone remember an mmo that was top down like habbo hotel it started with an E i think
prob skipping classic just to play green
A part of me enjoys that, I like being able to zone out and grind while dicking around with friends, when you actually can move on to a new zone it feels more rewarding
