It was comfy - we would be back to back in his office, me on one computer, him on his monster of a rig. Think - CRTs, simple keyboards and trackball mice. It was comfy as fuck.

It also made me appreciate simple aesthetics in guns. M16A2 remains one of my favorite weapon platforms. We were also super into the Special Forces update when it happened - he was really proud when I got through SF training without looking up guides or anything.

Yes, I had the luck to be in Texas for a con a couple months ago and we spent an afternoon at a gun range. I shot a Five-Seven and a P90 because I loved using them so much in CS, ended up loving them in real life too. Also shot a USP to try and feel like Gordon Freeman but really didn't enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I live in New York where it's an absolute bitch to get your carry permit and automatics are simply not a thing. I'd rather be able to enjoy shooting every once in a while at a range than having to deal with actually trying to purchase literally anything in New York.

Honestly, if we're worried about lifespan, I'd just go with a strong crossbow over a rifle. Something like pic related with polycarbonate arms will beat any crossbow in the medieval era and has kinetic energy similar to a .22 lr (135 ft/lbs). You can also easily make more bolts for it.

Yeah, Cry of Fear made me love burst fire pistols, mainly the VP70. Had a hate/like situation with the M14 because it looked ugly with the rails and shit, but I found the M1A Socom in a games promotional art and love the sleek design. I always had loads of love for the MP5, and the one in SWAT 4 especially for its burst and single fire(no automatic, was a great gimmick that forces people to learn how to appropriately time their trigger pulls if they wanted to spray a target down, although one burst is usually enough). The Suppressed MP5 sounded so good in that game too, which in turn made me really picky with gun sound design. Really hate firing something that sounds jank.

I have often heard it said online, but the Oculus handbook itself explicitly warns against letting children use it. Firstly, their IPD is much lower than the minimum on the headsets. I'd maybe start with a cheapo 10/22. low recoil, cheap ammo, fun to shoot. nothing nice to look at or brag about on the range but a good start.

if you want something you can actually use for shit like sport, hunting, home defense, etc. maybe look into getting an AR-15. you can get them very cheap nowadays, check out palmetto state armory and you can grab one for just $300. Maybe even look into building one from the parts on the site. you can make it as complex for yourself as buying stripped upper/lower receivers and parts kits or as simple as a completed upper and lower and just joining them together. An AR build will teach you a lot about the rifle as you build it, and you'll get a lot more customization out of it.

Maybe even look into building an AR "pistol" and learn about the wacky wacky world of U.S. gun laws and their loopholes.

Since RDR1, I really like the Borchardt C-93. Such an interesting turn of the century gun. In real life I imagine its unwieldy, janky, and unreliable, but it just has a certain je ne sais quoi. Too bad they're rare as, and use proprietary ammunition that's no longer made.

I also like the C-96 and the FN M1900.

The Luger is actually almost as reliable as the 1911
The problem if has is that it's a complete pain to repair, whereas the 1911 set the standard for ease of repair for most DA/SA handguns.

Also an issue with it is that 9mm has changed a lot over the years and newer 9mm can do some wear and tear to lugers

Escape From Tarkov for all its faults got me to actually give a fuck about ballistics and firearms. I am getting kinda pissed though at how hard it is to find reputable concrete examples of basic infantry loadouts for different armed forces, though - and don't get me started on ammunition variants for the same caliber. I really liked recreating real infantry loadouts in Tarkov/ARMA 3. Sandstorm too until I realized how fucking awful that game is compared to 2014.

It probably did, though I feel like reading old Warlord comics also helped. Also I like shotguns a lot and those tend to be dealt a bad hand in most videogames, you usually gimp yourself by using them. Doesn't stop me though.
Playing old games like Opfap or UT99 Infiltration, the Insurgency mod and so on, I feel like got me into more realistic depictions of firearms in games.
Shame I'm a city rat bong and owning guns for someone in my situation is a fucking hassle.
