Yep. Being a Primarch forgives a lot of things. Also it's the reason he gets to have an Eldar waifu and you have to settle for your hand before being shot by your commissar.

They're still Sisters of Battle who use to wear them before their period of repentance. It's a surgical implant, not something you just pop on and off. The base design of Power Armor doesn't require such implants but having them increases the armor's performance by linking it to the wearer's nervous system. The ultimate version of this is the Black Carapace of the Space Marines but the extremely wealthy and well equipped such Planetary Governors, Inquisitors, and Sisters of Battle can have versions that are more conducive to the human frame.

Tbh, that SM's armor is probably just as tough as the walker mech he's piloting so need for a cumbersome hatch cover. Kind of like how knights irl eventually discarded shields since their own plate armor was just as effective anyway.

But they don't have Black Carapaces. No one except Space Marines have that since it kills pretty much anyone that's not genetically modified implanting it into you, which is why it's the last implant marines get.

I don't like how effortlessly the marines deal with their enemies in this. I know you can probably point to a book or whatever that says they can move at the speed of light and withstand nukes detonated in their colons but 40k lore is inconsistent as fuck and it makes for poor drama.

Fair enough, I phrased my concern poorly.
Sisters of Battle and other normal humans generally do not get invasive and expensive surgical implants like those for using power armor.
Things like that are often used solely by members of the inquisition, of which the model originally is. Most likely, those are plugs used to deliver stims and chemicals, which the inquisition also heavily use on their own fanatical troops.

I have played DoW 1 off and on since it came out in 2004. Outside of CS:S and Halo 2, I'm not sure there is another game that I've put more hours into in my entire life.

That being said, even though DoW 2 wasn't what I really wanted, it did give us this most badass scene of a dreadnought. I remember when I first saw it, I knew I was going to buy the game then and there.

Primaris aren't a separate faction and Corsairs aren't even a defined army.

They originally attempted having marines being unstoppable killing machines, but it could never be balanced right. Either they were completely untouchable (Roll 3 or lower on 2d6 to penetrate armor) or completely pointless (15 dudes with armor piercing rounds facing off against every 1 marine).
Gameplay-wise, the closest thing you'll get is the DoW2 campaign, or Space Marine campaign for a look at how marines utterly curbstomp things in lore.
