so you guys watch sseth

many do

>Starsector threads get shitted on here or no one talks about it
>Some mexican makes video on jewtube
>"Hey guys did you hear about this cool new game, wow this game is so great i wonder why no one talked about it before :)?"
You guys are cancer

How many sex tourists have you transported to Tri-Tachyon today? How many of them were on a "business trip" from Hegemony?

Attached: Tritachyon.png (410x256, 16K)

He's gave everyone the game for free, obviously it will stirr a lot of discussions now that all the poorfags can play it.

This game is hard. I did the campaign tutorial and by the end I had essentially gotten nowhere. All the money from the missions was gone, I had lost one of my starter ships, and I was lugging around like 5 salvaged ships which required a ton of crew and supplies to keep going (which I couldn't really afford.) Still, the first thing I did was go survey a nearby system since I heard that was easy money, and there I learned it costs a ridiculous amount of supplies to do that, like 20-90 of them per planet, and I had no idea how I was going to afford all of that.

Attached: 1453247721287.jpg (300x186, 15K)

There were Starsector threads after every major version release long before the video came out. You're the newfag here.

I wonder if the devs have said anything about that yet.

Welcome to Yea Forumseddit, now post your shipfu or fuck off

Attached: modesto.jpg (512x512, 68K)

>finish campaign tutorial
>take the salvaged fleet it gives you and kill people for money, just for a few missions
>buy supplies and fuel
>go on a survey rampage

black market my dude, also sell shit thats in high demand

Can you play it on a literal toaster, like intel HD 3000 graphics?

How are your fleets shaping up? I'm thinking about updating since I mostly played 0.9.0 and not the latest release.

Attached: screenshot467.png (2560x1440, 2.04M)

Why can't I just plot a course to a system from the F1 menu in cargo.
How the fuck can I search for a specific system on the intel menu.

Who knows?

Attached: IMG_20190803_225316.png (726x245, 78K)

I'm skittish about fighting, I'm a dogshit pilot. It always seems like once I engage, I can't manage to get away from the enemy's fire so I can safely lose flux. The AI seems to target me over any of the other ships in my fleet.
I know about the trading, but I need money to make money. Coming out of the tutorial I had nothing from all the ship repairs and upkeep.

sseth is a spic? unsubcribed

He's danish.

He’s Danish

Which join-able faction is the most fun?

He's a impoverished African who found a laptop one day.

tri-tach I guess, they have the high-tech shit. You can also just form your own faction with ships and blueprints of your choosing

Drive faster frigates and do drive bys if you engage alone, only commit when the fleet has your back.

on one hand I'm happy ss is getting threads again
on the other, i hate sseth

I'll try.

Get some long range guns if you arent comfy with combat yet user. Also consider either salvaging a bunch or fighting someone weaker than you if you need some money to start snowballing.

Dev will block that code in the next release.

Fucking jump on it

sure. Just make sure you have enough money at startup to build shit.

You don't even need a key to play the game, just crack it yourself. Edit the jar.

>Starsector threads getting shat on
>anything besides flavor of the month shitters screeching that they should go to /vg/
>mods delete threads telling them to go to /vg/ where it doesn't belong
>game discussion dies
>repeat for anything that isn't a big AAA release
Fuck off newfag. If you actually played the game and talked about it here before this you'd be happy something got threads to pop up and get populated for a while so people might actually talk about videogames on this fucking board.

>no volatiles
Ideally low hazard worlds with multiple resources are suitable so you can get shares in all the markets. If there are other worlds worth colonizing in that system even as low hazard production I would save that place.

Im just glad sseth has revived discussion about this game if I'm honest, some one post the hammership .webm's if they please.

yes they said "Holy shit thanks for all the free advertisement, we got so many new people looking us up that our website crashed, and our off site pay service and download service also crashed"

How is this game any different from the other Escape Velocity clones like Transcendence or Endless Sky?

wait really?

Reminder to everyone that video game piracy is alright has long as youre using it to try out the game before buying it.

Attached: 34578934689.jpg (1200x1290, 261K)

Am I supposed to keep all the junk ships I got from the tutorial? I'm assuming I'll need them for the next mission but I know basically nothing about fleet composition or how I want to order them in combat

>leting the RNG know you are using a pirated copy
tsc tsc enjoy your shitty loot

I know for sure their main website was down, so hard that the dev tweeted out a direct link to the pay service
and then people were complaining about not being able to buy it or download it a short time later

Sure, I'll buy the full game when it releases in full

wow people finally want to talk about the game ive been playing for 4 years

I remember there being a mod from years ago that included a Spaceship Yamato Hull, or was that vanilla idk, does anyone remember if it was a mod or not?

whats the diference?

>video game piracy is alright
That's all you need to say, that's what I encourage. I bought the game 7 years ago.

Attached: fuel delivery complete.png (2560x1440, 1.14M)

I'm all for trying a game out before buying it, but that explanation is outdated, since changing one line now does let you play, but doesn't remove the additional piracy check.

so why did he change the title anyway?

Pirate/Pather capitals, something that buffed the Doom again, Colonies take longer to build and require more money initially. Not much else I can think of or care about, it isn't a big update.

sure i'll buy it
lmao

Actually looking at the dudes twitter

>Uploaded more keys to the pay site cause they ran out
yeah I think they don't mind that Seth gave out his CD key, which works

thats some weird gatekeeping schtick homie

When will this game be finished so I can finally play it

Why does the download freeze when its 215mb/215 ?

Bros.. Sseth xD

everyday until you download 0.8.1 and kill it

So that Sseth guy made a review on Starsector and thats why threads are spreading even though we're between major updates?

Why weren't there threads when he reviewed Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom

Attached: 1552028619164.gif (400x224, 1.87M)

If I remember correctly there was a website or something with the same name. It must have existed before the game's development and it was decided to prevent any future headaches by changing the name. But to me that just sounds like he had no balls to obtain and keep the cooler name.

The reason for such a measure is that, as said above, they have no other means of earning a livelihood than usury, and by it they have stolen and robbed from us all they possess. Such money should now be used in no other way than the following: Whenever a Jew is sincerely converted, he should be handed one hundred, two hundred, or three hundred florins, as personal circumstances may suggest. With this he could set himself up in some occupation for the support of his poor wife and children, and the maintenance of the old or feeble. For such evil gains are cursed if they are not put to use with God's blessing in a good and worthy cause.

The good Luther would not tolerate such bullshit from the starsector crew. Piss off, papist, your false slander will not take root here.

any tips for combat? it's kicking my ass

Good to know, will give it a shot then. I’ve always had a thing for highly customizable ships.

Can talk about the forum being a shitshow

Attached: 18764352.png (2363x305, 26K)

Plenty of mods are compatible, if you're looking for dong then wait a week before the next major update. I think the ones that are missing are Appro-Light (Translation), Knights Templar, Tore Up Plenty and GKS if you're into those.

I was wondering which of the skills I should try to max out first
Also how many supplys should I be carrying at a time

? I though you only needed fuel in hyperspace.

What am I supposed to do in this game, aside from the fighting?
I've been asking myself this since 2014...

The more ships you buy, the slower you move, the less fights you get to pick
The less ships you have, the less able you are to defend yourself
I basically never get to start fights on my own terms, because the AI can just swooce on over whenever they want.

Navigation in this game is still a pain 6 years later

The Persean marine handed me an impound notice. I couldn't believe it. They were jacking my ship over two minutes worth of unpaid hangar fees.

It was not my fault, it was the damn Tri-fucks placing extra checks on the credit transfer. I called up the bank last night over the vid-comms, trying to explain to the teller that the "suspicious transactions" were actually the Persean port authority charging me by the hour. Of course, the idiot on the line wouldn't listen. He placed my account under review and the Perseans' request for payment took two minutes too long to process.

No late fees allowed, drawled the Persean marine behind the helmet. I took the impound notice from his gauntleted fingers. Fucking cocksucker. He sounded just about as smart as those expendable fleet jarheads. He even had the accent of a fresh recruit, probably hailing from a League world known for transplutonics and inbreeding.

I asked him where they're taking my ship to. The "municipal League office in charge of this hangar," he said. Which Persean League office, I asked, and was met with a shrug. Every hangar was under the jurisdiction of a different League world, he said, and he couldn't remember who owned this one.

I looked down at the impound notice. It had the wrong ID for my ship.

Fuck the galactic banks. Fuck the galactic factions. Fuck them all.

Attached: h.jpg (1360x440, 498K)

I personally use about 50% of my cargo for supplies, and put points into literally everything that doesnt only effect my ship. I ignore the 3 leadership carrier skills that only effect me and I never put a single point into the combat tree But I also run an intelligence build in mount and blade, so that's just the kind of person I am

>pirate base and friendly base end up in same battle
>both stations spawn in the centre and jostle each other to death in seconds

Yeah, that's pretty much the Mount and Blade conundrum.

Only solution is to either git gud at winning at a numbers disadvantage or build up a massive rapeblob and play lord of the land.

>the one i want the most hasnt been updated since for ever

Attached: file.png (403x1094, 214K)

nobody cares fuck off.
this is a video game discussion board, not an online community discussion board.

this actually happens sometimes too lol, but they actually do spawn far enough to have a station battle, it's pretty fuckin rad

how hard the modding is for this game
I might just bring it back myself if I can find the time

>Hey find this Domain Era Probe on the outskirts of this system

or<
just put points into speed, which solves this problem and the same problem in mountain blade, always burn drive and nothing can catch you or even interdict you, every fight is on your own terms, even with a full fleet of mostly cruisers and above. Combined with no CR loss on emergency burn and you can literally pick apart massive blobs, while being a ~max size fleet

>open it with JBE
nah, I am lazy to download another bloatware program.

>the AI can just swooce on over whenever they want.
I find that if you go dark right when they start to run away, they usually come back a few seconds later to see if you are still there. Then it's pretty easy to reach them with an emergency afterburner as they are going towards you.

the one that adds ordinance poits to all the fleet and the electronic warfare at level 1 are must haves. the extra excavenging one pays off by a thousanfold too
after that it depends, but if you want your flagship to do real damage you should max out the weapon damage, range and dissiation ones, then shields if you don’t need any of the other ones urgently. the fighter fleetwide ones are nuts too when you start fielding carriers
after that you should be able to decide yourself, just remember that you have planet administrators and AIs for rhe planet ones

What are some cool ship mods for this game? All the ones I used to use are either dead, or gone.

good fucking luck lad

Good luck. :)

Thanks a lot. Based

after the last celestial body. it's probably somewhere along that distance.

>popular YouTuber covers my game and crashes my distribution site
Why is the dev too retarded to put this on Steam?

I will buy it on Steam. especially on sale :^)

Have fun when the mods you like get removed and the modders banned because they didn't suck the dev's dick hard enough, then. Games like this only have longevity due to user-created modifications and the only reason people are still playing this game after so many years is that people are hoping the mod scene picks up when it is released on Steam. Well, news flash, it ain't coming to steam because the dev knows he won't be able to completely control mods anymore.

Beats me. Rimworld was really niche and unknown because he always refused to put it on Steam and now look how popular it now got.

Ok Martin Luther.

He'll do that once the game is finished

Are there aliens or strange secrets in Starsector?

Are there any ships in the game that look like this vanilla or otherwise?

and by that, I mean it looks bad sorry

Take it to /vg/. Generals belong there.

Starsector has a general on /vg/ whenever the updates come out, how long the general stays alive depends on how big the update is and what mods have survived the dev's purges.

worth it, get it sooner or later depending on how much you are traveling to butfuck nowhere. if you are getting money from just scanning stuff with a super small fleet you wont be able to tell the difference tho
every point you don’t put into combat is a step away from becoming a one ship killing machine. utility upgrades save you credits, but depending on your playstyle fucking shit up might be priceless

What's the point in not using the black market? It seems like there's no downside to it.

Getting your shit tier D-mod riddled smuggler fleet ass raped by the space cops

Yes and it is pretty good to make a lot of money early on. A bit risky but completely worth filling entire cargo bays of organs and drugs.

get le spooky checkups on you if you're suspicious, if they find shit you'll have to burn it and lose reputation with their faction

Until you're know what you're doing it would be best to keep them with you, at least as cannon fodder.
Now I don't remember what ships they are but they shouldn't take much resources.
Sometimes the patrol might throw a hissyfit and search your cargo.
Also relation penalties for the faction.

How though? I'm not losing any reputation or buying or selling on it.

You will once you sell enough shit or buy expensive ships.

it literally tells you how obvious your black market activities were, right there on the UI.
if your visibility is medium or higher you WILL get caught once you leave orbit.

Maybe it's just me but they can pry those 50 tons of cocaine and cocaine accesories from my cold dead wreck, no other possability exists when caught for me.

I'm not smuggling anything tho, how do they know I bought the supplies off the black market?

transponder?

Some snitches saw you dealing and sold you out to the cops.

Your in-game character used his galactic credit card like an idiot. Maybe the supply crates are all marked with transponders and they can tell when some of them leave planetside without some sort of purchase approval.
The taxman always knows.

>Mairaath was devastated by a coordinated Luddic Path operation in cycle 82 which turned its awesome orbital station-cities into weapons thrown against the fantastically terraformed surface. would be pretty mad if i were the devs ngl

I dunno, maybe because you showed up in smuggle town empty handed and came back with all the supplies you could carry, but im sure it was a donation from a local friend.

Why? we know from the dev himself that this resulted in him getting more buys than he can handle.

>the Hegemony Revenue Service thanks you for the actionable tip
>your 2 credit reward minus tax will be deposited shortly

Terraforming when?

>tfw the gundam based mod hasn't updated

That's possible too. Not sure about the Denmark stuff, that's something other anons believe.
I personally think he's a Polish guy who knows Russian since it's not exactly unlikely for a Polish guy to know some Russian or to get CD games from Russians
I am Czech and in high school I ended up getting most of my PC games that weren't available in Czechia from Russian kids, seeing as Poland has a similar situation to Czechia it's not unlikely for that being the case for Sseth too

What are you talking about? I just activated seconds ago and it works for me.

what kind of mutt is this man
why does he have black features but blue eyes

>patrols quietly watch cargo moving to and from ships
>quartermaster notices equipment is from the market and not storage bay
>checks if the ship is identified with its transponders on
>notices no record of transactions or tariffs paid on goods
>asks nearby patrol/detachment to check using ships' transponders
That's how I look at it

Attached: hh09[1].jpg (1920x1080, 312K)

That's right. The devs should've gone exclusive on EGS to get guaranteed sales instead.

That glory show with all the mod ships exploding at the end makes me think this could actually be true, shits pretty dope

why does my ship move so fucking slow
it's an apogee, and every fucking ship i encounter dabs on me because i move at 1km/year

should i move to command my hammerhead?

whats stopping you from turning your transponder off only when you're near the planet

irs.gov/publications/p17#en_US_2018_publink1000172116
Remember to file taxes on your embezzlement activities!
>Income from illegal activities, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Schedule 1 (Form 1040), line 21, or on Schedule C (Form 1040) or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity.

Attached: stolen.png (765x99, 13K)

Any (D) mods? Apogee isn't an agile ship without hullmods and skills. If you want a fast high tech cruiser you should look at the Aurora. Hammerhead is a fine ship, you might be better off piloting that and let an officer use the Apogee to support.

If a patrol notices you then they'll tell the market to not let you in. You can find an asteroid belt or something to obscure you if a patrol is nearby before going dark to smuggle stuff. Otherwise you're good to turn off transponders.

It'll only happen now that its been amplified by hey hey. Sweeney ignores all indies that don't seem popular enough.

the pissed off patrol that will immediately beeline for you once they detect your transponder switching off

you can do that and no one will know it was you who bought all that black market shit
but then cops nearby will be all "oh shit that guy just traveled in our zone without his transponder on, let's check him out" and they'll chase you at max speed to scan your shit up
so yeah you can turn off your transponder, but make sure to gtfo posthate once you've loaded up on "supplies"

i enjoy controlling smaller ships more because they're faster

When the space cops see you with it turned off, they get angry.

It's a serious issue because reputation hits are incredibly expensive.

You know he does it on purpose becuse mentioning or even indirect;y mentioning poland once in 15 minute video gives him a massive flood of views and comments from poland, right?
That's just how these retards work.

How do you do manual combat? I'm having trouble getting control of my shop without the weird commander overlay taking precedence

no

I honestly wonder if anyone actually fell for that one

If you pirate this game it knows and fucks you in the ass with horrible rng

good to know that after all these years the solution is still only to minmax while being a space trucker

yawn

why do you lie on an anonymous board?

Stop pressing Tab, that brings up the overlay.
Make sure you're actually in the ship you're trying to pilot. If you aren't, select it on the command screen and press X to transfer command to yourself.

fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=177.0 has 99% of them, with color coding for compatibility. Anything that isn't red will work with the latest version.
A couple mods are currently exclusive to the discord channel.

>Blackrock
>Diable Avionics
>Disassemble Reassemble
>Interstellar Imperium
>Mayasuran Navy
>Shadowyards
>Ship and Weapon Pack
>Sylphon
>Underworld
Are my personal favorite ship packs.

Thanks meng. Is Nexerelin the most popular "gameplay" mod? I ask because it doesn't seem to add any new factions or ships but does add alot of gameplay elements.

>A couple mods are currently exclusive to the discord channel.
nani

It's true when people crack the game by changing just one line with jbe.

Last blue one is Navigation, various speed boosts, less slow in novas and transverse jump, the ultimate fuck you to people who want to fight, also safety procedures (first scavenger tree) gets you emergency boost doesnt drop your CR,

>buy marines from a planet
>use said marines to raid the planet and get lots of goodies

who else 999IQ here?

Is it worth being a modest law-abiding citizen? Can I sell out to a single faction and just try to go up the ranks with them?

eyy nice, getting both of those

>reclaim these derelict rust bucket ships with permanent penalties with whatever random pea shooter guns left on them and use them to take out a pirate fleet with cruisers and destroyers armed to the teeth

Wow they don't fuck around in this game do they?

Just sell drugs and organs n shiet

Yeah you're gonna lose like half of them, which is to your benefit since they're expensive in upkeep for the start. Though word of advice, only kill as many as you need to activate the wormhole and go back to the planet. He'll put a bounty on the remaining pirates so then you can go kill the rest for more money.

and the problem would be?
you guys didn't even have threads before don't lie

energy weapons are so much cooler than kinetics

>come back to the same planet after turning off transponder
>sells them the marines back

Yes. I'd recommend that you play through vanilla first if you haven't already though.

I think the SEEKER and Tahlan ship packs are currently exclusive. The given reason was that they're both very early in development.

>"Why yes i did play Starsector before it became popular, how did you know?"

>he doesnt install literally every single mod that's compatible with the current version
I actually did this once, it was glorious.

I would do this, but I installed some ship pack that added a bunch of fucking shitstain cultists to random unknown systems that I kept getting missions for, making those impossible to do.

>"Come, newfriends, come! I am glad to see so much interest in Starsector. It truly is a game of the highest order, and Alexander Mosolov is a great developer that deserves many new customers."

Chinaman's mods are something special, too bad this is patched out.

If you're not losing, you're winning. Obviously you will go through a lot of of ships.

Can you rename ships? I mean, I like my newly salvaged destroyer, but the ISS Aladdin-San isn't exactly a name that inspires fear.

>buying early access shit

Yes

You can change names when you refit ships, CTRL Backspace cleans it up faster for long unwanted names.

Worse, he's a polish second generation immegrant in denmark, living real close to sweden.

Is it viable to do most of the game with just a single ship?

Not sure if it could be possible, because larger ships can't seem to deal with these tiny ass fuckers.

>transponder on
>buy some weapons off the blackmarket
>buy some other shit off the open market
>patrols check me and find nothing after I'm done
uhhh
should I not be doing this? my reputation didn't increase but the black market suspicion went up

I believe I ran it with a core 2 duo long time ago.

You're right but it's also an excuse to talk about the game so I'll take it.

They'll always poke you for doing black market ship/weapon trade but never find anything quite actionable, though you may sometimes take a rep hit for "suspicious" cargo.

At least, not in my current runs, if any anons have found different

I made fanart for this game like 5 years ago, where does the time go?

Attached: HegemonyABest.jpg (2304x2814, 2.2M)

Depends on the ship, your only restriction is you can't get into long or constant fights solo. Also how far you can go will also depend on your ship's cargo/fuel capacity. Before we got peak performance times you could solo entire fleets with a single frigate.

Yeah I have this same question.
I was carrying like 200 units of hardcore drugs and 250 harvested organs and hegemony ships told me that they found nothing, but still took a rep hit.

this
there's also a rep hit for buying a ton of shit from the black market, like several hundred supplies on one go.

In my case I wasn't actually carrying anything illegal but also didn't take the rep hit

You can solo a hell of a lot of things with, say, a paragon, but you would need support ships to carry fuel, supplies, extra cargo space. If you want just a single ship in your whole fleet, there's some ships that do a bit of everything, like the Apogee, but your combat potential is limited.

wtf I want to enlist in the Hegemony Navy now

I haven't played since colonies and industry came out and some minor update that claimed to make free ports less of a no brainer when my save got corrupted, whats new? Anything major enough to be worth digging through all my files and looking for updated mod versions?

Attached: 1542815242266.png (600x300, 240K)

But I mean, you'd think that they'd confiscate your shit

Shielded Cargo Holds decreases/prevents your illegal goods from being detected.
If your rep with a faction is high enough, they won't find anything either.

Shielded cargo holds can help hide illegal commodities. Also since you will have other items in your cargo (supplies, heavy machinery, etc.) it can help prevent detection.

Suspicion will go down over time or if you trade stuff not on the black market. If you can trade with transponders off you avoid increasing suspicion, occasionally patrols will see something to make them suspicious and deal a reputation hit. Even if nothing in your cargo is illegal, so avoiding patrols if you trade on the black market is preferred.

>My game is getting a lot of new attention and will guarantee future development and maybe even accelerate updates
>a bad thin

If you mean 9.0 then Blackrock and Instellar Imperium came out for 9.1a

I like to imagine that the space police is incredibly corrupt and often incompetent.
>these purple vials, what are they?
>oh they're just um... glowsticks
>okay nothing to see here move along

huh
that's really cool actually, most games would make it so if you have 1 drug in your massive freighter fleet, you'd get fucked over

you'd think that'd be even more suspicious than letting them find nothing
>dude with transponder on fucking floors it emergency burn away from patrols
>they know who you are because of transponder

>My game is getting a lot of new attention and will guarantee future development and maybe even accelerate updates

any idea why a bunch of the proper version mods dont work for me? about half of them have fatal errors because "ship hull spec [whatever] not found!" even nexerelin is missing some random thing and wont work

Attached: error.png (267x129, 3K)

Attached: ok.jpg (574x99, 23K)

Viable? Sure, if you're going for the everyone friendly victory just don't build any bases. Total conquest may be a little more grindy but player ordained invasions are not balanced at all.
Its actually a game play mechanic. If you got your transponder on and buy a ton of stuff on the legit market you can hide some of your smuggling actions. I usually go for 1:3/1:2 ratio depending on the volume to mask the tax free shit I buy. As for smuggling stuff just don't get caught =)

I bought the game after seeing it here a long fucking time ago.
Not everyone is a super vocal poorfag.

Are you updating from older versions? When updating mods, don't just copy-paste the new folder into the old one, you have to delete the old folder entirely.

What should my fleet compoistion be?
I take every D Wolf I can recover

What.

im salty because i made regular threads for a long ass time and literally nobody gave a fuck about the game. now that im burned out on it, its apparently cool.

>if any
Is this dude retarded?

Diable are not hostile to pirates for some reason

at least you're honest, I can appreciate that

People made threads when it got updated

Did they patch out micro missile launchers? I haven't found any at their stations

The starsector site seems to be down.

We've always had threads for at least a week or two after every major update. Stop being retarded.

Is there a cheatsheet anywhere about which ship classes are better against other ships? I'm always looking at the battle screen and not knowing what fights I can win and which I can't.

Starpoint Gemini and Astrox Imperium.

Stellar Tactics is good too, it has regular space combat in real time and fallout based combat for ground levels, but it's not very polished yet.

Wrong according to the developer himself.
Kys kike nigger.

if ur shit then hammerhead, it's pretty retard proof. I like to pilot the sunder more cause of the large laser slot but it's more of a glass cannon

fuck taxes and fuck space cops

yeah fuck that i just piloted the sunder and holy fuck it's good

you just using the junk one you get fo free?

t. leaguer

i did some missions, got lucky intercepting some smugglers and selling their shit so i could afford to repair the hull of every ship i have, including the sunder
for early game i suppose it's pretty good

Awesome recommendation my dude. Although starpoint gemini is gay in my opinion.

What does tech-mining do, does it ever dry up?

for the money you invested into restoring the sunder you could have probably gotten an extra one
don’t restore ships unless it’s really unique or rare, like 14 battlegroup ones

depending on the level of ruins you can get weapons, LPCs, and sometimes blueprints. It's not that great from what I've done, mostly just useless LPCs and shit blueprints, you get most of the goodies when you first search it yourself

What mod is this guy getting butthurt about here, and what exactly is the "stolen content" the modder added?

It can yield good shit like BPs or AI cores until ruins are depleted. It's even worth to make colony on vast ruins world that does nothing except tech-mining, and close it after shit runs out.

haven't found any pristine condition sunder for sale though
then again i haven't looked

>the one that adds ordinance poits to all the fleet
Which one is this?

literally just portraits

Fuck, guess this is another game I have to stop playing. I liked it, too, what a shame.

?

wat

Wow it's fucking nothing.
If that guy's getting butthurt over something as small as that, he'd probably have an aneurysm when he sees the kind of shit people have made in Bethesda games.

Attached: file.png (1680x1050, 3.19M)

he's pretending to be elitist for (You)s and bumps

Starpoint Gemini has interested me for a long time but every time I look into it I hear mixed things about it.

Normies ruin everything

Oga Portrait pack, for using copyrighted assets and adding them to other faction mods (via an optional download). Note that this is the second time he's done that in a portrait thread, even though he's never even mentioned anything about Portrait Pack, the oldest and most popular pack that does the exact same shit.

the main reason he's butthurt is because he took other modder's portraits and added a sci fi frame to them, but those were a separate optional download in case you were using one of those other mods
basically just sperging out because he didn't like the guy

I'm playing on ironman and just got killed. What should I do to recover? I only have 2k creds and awful ships.

check the blue skills, I forgot the name

start again
not on ironman

any tips on character building? iv been doing random shit everywhere but is there anything super good i should be prioritizing?

I want to play the game as it was meant to be played, now give me recovery options.

even one with 1 or 2 dmods is a best investment earlygame
tolerate dmods until you have to fight fleets outnumbered past the midgame. them go full autist

Does Starsector have a good single-player campaign or is it just aimless open world shit?

>my other ship just goes away and leaves me to die
what the fuck?

assign it to your ship as an escort

Tell that to the 2-3 xiv threads on Yea Forums

Get the two that decrease supply and fuel consumption. They're pretty much mandatory for every build.

is there a way to control allied ships or are commands less orders and more strongly worded letters they ignore?
ive tried using tab picking a ship and telling them to attack that one. doesnt really seem to work as they all fuck off against different ships instead of the one at a quarter hull.

Are there any talks when 1.0 will come out?

I'd consider Officer Management, Fleet Logistics, Loadout Design and Navigation as mandatory 3-point skills.

Any mods worth it for a first-timer or just let it be vanilla?

the base game is already amazing, learn with it first, then jump to mods

Mods that are fun but dont break the balance?

There aren't really any mods that change the focus of the game like there are in Minecraft or whatever. Pretty much all of the mods just expand what's there, so just get whatever mods look cool.

>navigation
>loadout design
>power grid modulation
>fleet logistics
>combat endurance
Must have at 3. Coordinated maneuvers & electronic warfare is very good to have at 1. Officer skill for as much as you want. Take other shit depending on what kind of ship you want to use you don't have enough to take all carrier skills simultaneously and still get defense shit. Yellow branch is completely useless unless you want to make some meme build.

Fair enough, I was just curious if there's mods that are just straight up more content that a new player wouldn't notice is a mod.

>you don't have enough to take all gunnery skills and all carrier skills

Nexelin with all faction mods

yes, there are plenty of content mods, but getting burnout from all the content at the same time is worse than replaying with extra content added each time, or at least that's how i get my fun.

I always rush navigation 3, +1 speed and less fuel, more speed traveling and transverse jump is literally the best 3 point in anything. After that you can spec into sensor if you going smuggling or exploring and gunnery implant if you're going the violent route. Honestly technology 3 is just too versitile.
play vanilla for 5 hours then get some of the mods in the mod index, Nexerelin and the content expansion with Miscellany and Ultility mod makes the game fun, portrait pack for the anime girls if you're into that. Factions are optional and sometimes not vanilla friendly so avoid those unless you're bored but if you must theres an outline of some of the faction in this forum thread.
fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=11001.0

I'd only recommend utility shit for your first playthrough.

>Auto Save
By default, only displays how long it's been since your last save. You have to manually enable automatic saving.
>Combat Analytics
Damage breakdowns for each ship and the weapons they have equipped.
>Console Commands
Big cheat potential, but the game has a couple uncommon bugs that force you to quit out without saving unless you have it, so it's worth considering.
>SpeedUp
Adds a speed up toggle to the combat map. Useful during the start of engagements when everything is just moving into position.
>Target Practice
Adds some stationary blocks for you to shoot at in the ship simulator, useful for testing loadouts.

well i cant get past the start i always run out of resources why did alex listen to the dark souls crowd

what can I do with survey data other than selling it?

I'm visiting family right now, so I don't have access to my computer. But if you wait a few days, I'll compile a google doc for you.
Off the top of my head though, Diable Avionics is pretty good, and Neutrino Corp is also nice.

Nothing.

Game is fun but tedious

Why in the world would you keep mods on a discord
Why
Fucking
Why

how so?

they're early access
quicksilver is mai waifu

The truth is probably that the guy who runs the other mod is sending the dev after anyone who might be serious competition.

Why can't you just be happy the game has a whole new group of fans? Why are you so a bitter, user?

definitely not your type of game then

Did the 'nazi' faction mod change its name, or did it just get fucking obliterated from the mod list/site? It's been some time since I've played, was just curious.

The latter.

Oof. That's some shit, thanks user. The ship designs were clean.

You playing on hard or something?
Go to a bar, take a contract, haul goods, make money, take a contract to explore far then explore that location and whatever you can on the way back, find an alpha AI core, sell it for 500k credits, or keep it, I kept mine, now it's managing my base, which is being raided by pirates.

What ships are worth repairing?

The link is still active even if it doesn't exist on the forums, at least. I don't keep up with the new caretaker so whatever WIP changes (if any) are unknown to me.

Attached: only dumb fleets get in this.png (2560x1440, 1.52M)

What's the best ship setup for the early game?

Pretty much every ship you want but can't find on market. It may be more expensive than buying, but you're getting it right no and not fuck knows when RNG puts it for sale.

The ones that are hard to replace given your reputation status, home base location, and stock of weapons.
Towards the endgame: all of them.

Does this game stop being a bloated, boring mess after the mid-game or what?

Tri tachyon almost always sells harbinger, but 3 phase lances on it and fuck up everything except maybe heavily armored cruisers. Also as much sunders and tempests as you can find and arm.

does the cd key still work?

It's only as boring as you make it.
If you aren't at least attempting to destroy or take over the core worlds after having a big fleet and enough credits to replace it many times over, you're doing it wrong.

what if i just want to keep the systems in perpetual war and profit off it forever?

Does it take that much effort to type it in yourself and find out on your own?

is there a reason for me not to be dealing in hard drugs and harvested organs?

Why aren't they using steam though? Are they the same type of people who jumped the ship to epic store for some extra cash?

>Decide to buy this game

Are there ones without the whacky border?

aren't chainguns bad? what else do you use on it

they got a buff

double sabot srm missiles chainguns are pretty gross with the hammer head special ability they fire twice as fast and the missiles finish anything off

You have the distress signal ability.

The worst part about the NGO ban is the guy who took over was going to improve the mod.

it's not working because i'm 50 million light years away and the only thing here are rogue defence systems

Keep using it, and make sure you're next to the Inner System Jump Point. Something will show up eventually.

Chainguns are for people who don't understand armor penetration. You either equip Heavy Mortars supported by some other kinetic damage dealer for the secondary or go balls out with HMG+torps. You do this until you get some HVDs or Heavy Maulers.

Whats in the update

Yes, it's shit.

Well, they have no place to put it since the Nexus is run by forum mods too.

Didn't this get censored a while back?

Thanks.

You don't know what I'm talking about unless you're there on the day someone uploads, user. None of those people play more than one or two rounds before they give up. They don't want to learn the game. The player counts go up, but player quality goes down. I'd be fine if it was breathing life into the game, but it isn't. It's making the game less fun for everyone else who plays regularly because the new players are never given the information they need to have fun themselves.

so how do I into this?

Right click to learn.
Once you have a colony, press D to bring up your doctrines menu. From there you can set your faction's preferred ships and weapons, or custom produce stuff if you have Heavy Industry.

Damn, any other badass grunt videos?

I went right up to them and they didn't even try to fight me. Activated the portal and went back to the planet without firing a shot.

Assert dominance.

I understand you now bro, I revoke my earlier shitposting

>All this talk about miners guarding the hyperspace point
>Went over, activated it and returned without seeing a single pirate.

Basically if dwarf fortress and fallout had made a baby and that baby being raised by the biggest fucking spergs and autists. It's not even a sex game, yet it has a retarded amount of possible ways to have sex or rape others and actually get gameplay benefits. There's also like 60k different craftable items, with the possibility of discovering new ones still. It's so fucking dumb.

It's pure autism, look at how much shit there is on this page just if you mutate into a vampire. hellmoo.org/wiki/index.php/Vampire

If you go in with the full compliment you can salvage, each of the two fleets will flee from you. Towards each other to gang up on you if you follow.

Too bad about that whole censorship debacle they had, pretty sure you can't be a loli orphan and get abused/raped as soon as you spawn in. Or at least they were trying to stop that.

Don't even bother, the admins are literal autists who will kill you relentlessly just to have fun among themselves.

so does reputation with pirates piss off all of them or

yes, if you turn your transponder off they'll still trade with you though

I have about 575k, when should I get a larger combat ship than the Wolf?

that's pretty weird, figured there'd be various pirate factions rather than a hivemind of them

Who are you maining bros?

Attached: file.png (316x243, 44K)

Do you mean when they removed unconsensual PvP in beginner zones? Players still start at age 10 afaik and turn 12 when they go into character creation. It's true that you can't just jump and rape them anymore in those zones, but you can still jump them when they wander outside the city. Or they allow rape, then it works in green zones, but that would defeat the point of rape anyway.

Dev is an autistic control freak who'd rather keep his game on a websiteite from the 1990s.

There was a bigger debate about it years ago, the game split into two versions and everything. If that's what they're currently going with then it's an improvement over what they tried to do, but it's still a shame the orphanage isn't the bloody zone of rape and murder it used to be.

Guys, what would happen to me if I answer the distress calls in deep space?

Attached: doggos!.gif (280x280, 799K)

>simple design bad
>bloated platform with trackers good
this game is not for you, zoom zoom.

Just fucking save and reload...

Haven't played the game since colonies were added, and tutorial doesn't say shit about em.

How much bankroll should I have on hand before trying to get a colony going? Any point in colonizing a weird desert world I just found, or should I hold out for terran type planets?

:^)

Just let me survey in peace...

Attached: portrait_mercenary03.png (128x128, 40K)

The more updates this game gets, the easier it becomes. First we got subspace which allows some bullshit maneuvers and non-risk moneymaking. Then removed the typhoon bombers and nerfed pirate patrols because noobs couldnt handle them. Now we got colonies which 100% propels even the blackest negro in to the late game, no skill required.

Starsector at this point is a casualized version of modded starfarer

Attached: 1501711261758.jpg (300x300, 95K)

you most of the time nothing, there is a bunch of active pirate fleets in the system it happened in the dudes who try to jump you are in smaller fleets that flee from you until you manage to approach them just right and they decide to attack you together. Unless it's a different faction then you could have some problems.

It is also very rarely an actual distress signal the dudes will ask to buy a pitiful amount of fuel from you that would not get them home and you can get a bunch of reputation or some free crew if you select the appropriate choice

Do I need to have a Class V planet to have multiple industry?
I colonized a class 4, and it says I have the max industry after I build just one

Attached: not enough face covering helmets.png (701x559, 46K)

Went with faction mods that didn't look over the top or overpowered anything else I should add?

Attached: 1537941868150.png (489x366, 24K)

Why is this in the game files?

Attached: godiva.jpg (629x629, 94K)

types don't really matter much
you should be looking for planets with:
>less than 175% hazard rating
>closer to the core worlds for higher accessibility rating
>at least 3 resources
>has ruins
the debuffs can be more or less dealt with by having higher profits

why not

Merc'in

>I hate founding my own faction

Tell me

I don't believe you

I like to have at least 500k before starting, preferably closer to 750k, but that's just me.
Due to the industry limit scaling with population size, you don't want a singular god planet, you want a system with multiple mediocre or better planets. Even barren rocks can be used to house military bases to spawn patrols.

Industry limit goes up with population size, up to a max of four industries.

You're telling me a telnet game, an online MMORPG game designed for text terminals, and one that autisticly describes ever detail of post-apocalyptic life ans society has been been censored out for fear of the Federal pedo squad?

More like moralfags tried to infest it.

Based space babushka.

Attached: portrait_luddic07.png (128x128, 45K)

so what's the best smuggling technique? Jump in with transponders on if there's an asteroid belt then use that to turn off/go dark. Otherwise jump in with no transponders?

These first few fights got me interested in that series. Man was I disappointed.

Might as well type gib_money into the console

>There was a bigger debate about it years ago, the game split into two versions and everything.
Yeah what you mean was because of PvP and not really because you can diddle kids.

HellMOO decided in it's infinite wisdom that it wasn't a griefing simulator anymore and that it should be more friendly to new players. They then made PvP consensual (Mostly in Freedom City) or even with the ability ot opt-out of it at all.
InfernoMOO spawned out of that, with slightly different content and with unconsensual PvP reinstated and no way to opt-out of PvP.

Although the rule still persists on HellMOO that you can kill newbies once a day. The only exception is if their character permanently opted out of PvP, then you are not allowed to trap them either and do things like that ie. luring them into your home, then stuffing them into your self-locking sex dungeon where they are unable to escape without headbutting the door until they die hours later with all of their gear on their corpse now.

No. The issue was that the admin started to hate the idea of unconsensual PvP.

>responding to bait
The only thing easier is skill tree because alex is uninterested in balance and has largely given up trying to do so. So an incredibly shallow system gets even shallower.

find out fag

even censored, it's still leagues better than modern fallout
4 was neutered as both terms of worldbuilding and roleplaying

have you never played a game with stealth mechanics?
use your own judgement

I usually get a handful of frigates before moving up to be safe, unless I plan on piloting whatever is the larger ship. No need to rush if you're accumulating wealth for hard times.

use nebli and asteroids belts in conjunction with go dark adn the transponder turned off

That's super unfun, I remember being new and it was a blast interacting with people when you didn't know what they'd do. I got attacked and saved so many times. One time I even managed to get away from one of the big guys on the server when he tried to kill me, he rolled badly and I managed to skedaddle and he couldn't find me.

any mods that add more civilians like trade routes? Im getting tired of only ever seeing faction ships, pirates and mercenaries

How the fuck do I control my own ship in combat? It looks like an RTS screen n shit.

Click on it and press X

Creating and installing ships were pretty easy back then I don't know about it now, there are all sorts of tools(like turning the image of the ship you made and giving you the option to generate weapon slots to it for convenience) that will help you to create a ship, I remember making a gladius looking ship back then and called it Excalibur it was pretty shitty looking, but it did work. I don't know about factions.

Do you mean Independent fleets?
Just because a fleet belongs in a faction it doesn't mean they're military. Think about how international shipping works in this dumb gay earth. Civillian ships all fly under a national flag.

Prove that you are not a Starsector newfag.

Attached: asd.png (1568x205, 16K)

I have just one ship and X does nothing.

Yes you can, especially vanilla. With mods you will start having issues though. Fuck graphics lib

I built a base and now bounty hunters are sitting outside of it trying to capture me, I have no bounty on my head.

Just a tip for people newer than me, the first world you start in has no tariffs, and always has large stacks of resources, it's well worth stocking up there when you need resources.

>Make outpost
>No matter what you do, all major relations gradually decline

Attached: 1522757640858.png (727x720, 519K)

get out of commander mode with tab
also play the tutorial on the main screen you dummy

I agree, it takes out the excitement if you know that you can't really be attacked in certain areas. The whole power dynamic of, "This guy is stronger than me and I'm at his whims" is gone when you can just sip on your chocolate milk while ordering pizza or even log out on the street (if someone doesnt know, logging out doesn't remove your character from the game world). But at least it's not mandatory to opt-out of PvP.

Will the authorities get mad at me for having black market weapons equipped?

Attached: 1505922286768.gif (560x372, 1.13M)

I've played the tutorial.
Thanks.

Diable is actually a very balanced mod to the point that some people think its ships are slightly worse than vanilla equivalents.

No, they just get mad if they notice you buying them; same for the ships

only certain things count as contraband, buying regular stuff off the black market only makes it more likely for a fleet to decide to search you

haven't really seen a fleet that had freighters for the purpose of hauling goods I think, it was always these big ass ships equipped to the teeth and maybe a tiny ass freighter along with it. I guess I wish there was maybe a mod that added like freighter only fleets with an escort fleet

>2x longbow wing
>4x trident wing
>Some fat shit like eagles or dominators between you and poor fuckers who are getting deleted
Congrats, you broke the game. Or alternatively you can give it to officer to do same thing, it's so braindead even they can handle it.

I want to survey. How do I survey and break a profit?

Just go and do it.
Holy shit, that video brought all the zoomers to the yard who do more shitposting and begging for spoonfeeds than actually playing the damn game.

Just don't mess with other mods and I doubt anyone would care.

What if I shoot the cops when they're trying to search me?

Quarter-bloods and F2 (and beyond) mulattos can look like that. Currently "weird" race mixes make sense in a Space age scenario, and you should see a shit ton of dark-skinned Asians considering today's demography.

Fly the most garbage ship with decent cargo size. I think you technically don't even need supplies.

Early on you can grab a tanker or two, a bunch of Shepherd frigates, heavy machinery, then top up on fuel/supplies/crew. Then go check planets for cheap, ideally around red/yellow stars. Look for worlds that aren't just barren rocks and salvage what you can since survey fleets should have decent cargo capacity anyway. If you want a profit don't scan everything, but you can if you want to know that system is completely identified.

Get that skill that gives you more rare rewards from surveying derelicts, and get the Surveying Equipment hull mod on a bunch of ships to reduce costs.

will attacking smugglers piss off the independent faction?

Somewhat. You won't really lose much reputation if the fleet you attack doesn't see you with your transponder on.
