Daily reminder to refund Mechwarrior V

They were negotiating an Epic exclusive while selling Steam preorders. Only announced it when they did because someone accidently updated their website too early. They would have waited until right before release to announce it. Refund.

Daily reminder to laugh at gabencucks.

Seriously though, you are fans of a STORE. Grow up.

>REEE EPIC GAMES STORE EXCLUSIVE
>REEE I WANT STEAM EXCLUSIVE

Holy shit you're like a battered wife.

Yikes

Nobody want's Steam exclusive. It's the fact that Epic, while being a shitty experience overall, is paying devs tons of money for exclusivity. People are butthurt about MW5 especially because the Devs outright said they had no plans on Epic exclusive while at that very moment negotiating an Epic exclusive. On top of it all they were going to wait until last minute before release to announce it but someone fucked up on their website and updated the FAQ too early. Its a very clear cut example of the scummy business practices that PLAUGE gaming right now and people like you defend it. fuck you.

Sounds like you're some commie fuckwit. Epic games store is playing hardball to compete against Steam and it should. With a cult like fan base following Steam, there's no real other way.

>defending bugs

You could release an actual quality product. But that's not their type of "hardball", I guess.

>Holy shit you're like a battered wife.

MW5 was set to come out on GoG and probably their own launcher. There was no exclusivity til Epic stepped in.

>Ask back in April if they had any plans with Epic
>The CEO himself said they hadn't even heard back from them and planned on branching out into GOG
>Was so set-in-stone that they had Steam keys, well beyond a "maybe we'll use Steam" phase
>Turns out they had been talking to Epic since a little before April and explicitly lied to us
>Claims to never have made such claims and was being openly transparent about it since the begining
>Only made the announcement about Epic because the web server guys messes up uploading the site too soon
>Had only signed to the contract the week prior
>Knew the gravity of the announcement pre-statement and lifted all bars on refund requirements, can literally just give them your email and the day you bought it
>Bragged about only have 700/20,000 refunds on the pre-order during the AMA
>One customer asked if he could just have his order delayed until Steam so he wouldn't lose his pre-order bonus, as he didn't want to refund
>Literally laughed at him and told him he should just get a refund
>Was asked by someone else why he would so brazenly tell an early backer to get a refund instead of even considering the case, he said it was irrelevant and already brought up

PGI are scumbag, through and through. It's not even about Epic as a platform, specifically - it's about PGI lying to their extremely loyal fans, throwing them under the tracks and then laughing once they had the financial support they needed. It could have been the other way around and I still wpuld have been angry, but it being Epic only makes it sting worse.

I forgot to mention, thats 700 refunds within a single hour. Another patron sent an email simply asking details about his account and they jumped the gun and gave him a refund despite him very explicitly saying he wasn't asking for one, and so he lost all his pre-order bonuses for if he were to decided to ultimately bot refunded. They never bothered with a followup email, so they literally just punished him for their own incompetence. They were also on a massive banning spree in their Discord when people started citing Tencent and their involvement with the Chinese government, which is actual, factual knowledge.

When it comes to extremely niche genres like giant stompy robots, it does help for the boomer whales to pitch in money. If they hadn't received the pre-orders, PGI wouldn't have had proper funding to afford making MW5 (supposedly, as per their claim why they moved to Epic), so it's a lose/lose in this case. They're technically an indie-studio though, and should they have notbwhored themselves out, they may not have had the money they needed, so pre-orders did help. Unfortunately, PGI traded out a monkey paw deal of getting their game out for the respect and involvement of their playerbase. It's a fucked situation no matter how you slice the cake, although I'm inclined to believe they has the money but just wanted more money.

If their whales kept with them through MWO I can't see them abandoning them now desu

>we don't have faith in our product's ability to sell on the open market, so we're taking a bunch of money up front in exchange for selling to a much smaller audience
Is this not what they're saying when they do one of these deals?

Then maybe the consumers should play hardball themselves and pirate every game from now on.

As much as I despise Epic and Tencent, ultimately, it is in fact up to the game studios themselves to make the decision. They're still both scumbags, but for two different reasons. Epic is enabling - and encouraging - this kind of product and is only able to do so with fat wads of cash instead of quality service, which is very anti-economy. It used to be where you paid top dollar for the best quality product. Instead, now we're playing how China plays the economy. You're the real communist, since you can't see the fucking difference.

People love the franchise (BattleTech, MechWarrior) NOT the scummy liars that currently wheel and deal to own the rights to make games for it.

>wanted the game on GOG, aka without any disgusting evil DRM
>epicucks assume that everyone is a steam shill

You people make me sick.

And sadly that's the truth. A lot of them have invested too much money to give a shit about the integrity of the publisher, reliability or security of the platform and plausibility of future content and its quality and delivery. As long as they get what they want, to hell with anyone else and what they want. They've been reduced to giant children who will accept anything given to them because the amount of money they've spent tells them it was well worth every penny and it dictates the future market while us non-whales have to suffer through their decisions. Other non-whales are turning a deaf ear because they literally suffer from Stockholmes Syndrome and are on such a desperate drip feed of Battle Tech games that they'll also accept anything by any standard. They're desperate addicts who need their fix. There's no room for self-respect or morals if you don't have the money to GRAB DEAL.

That's basically what he said, yeah. He believes the game wouldn't receive enough exposure on Steam and supposedly needed the extra funding. Of course, this plan was in the works for many, many months and wasn't going to be unveiled until they had to by accident and was contradictory to previous plans and statements.

>REEE I WANT STEAM EXCLUSIVE
nobody talked about steam exclusivity you fucking baboon

Funny part is how little features Epic provides, including currently support for modding. I know they'll be adding it, but you know for sure it's going to be garbage, considering they lack as vital tools as a fucking shopping cart for their store. Considering a lack of DRM was a bit topic in the initial days discussing modding and how that won't be possible with Epic is genuinely beyond me.

I still don't believe there is even 20,000 people that pre-ordered this game.

Same here. Lol Polygon was looking into getting an updated count but I don't know if they were able to because I don't go there, but from the shipping of the article I heard, they quoted it as "only received 700 refunds that day", trying to spin it in a positive light.

Begone, chink

And CUSTOMERS are playing hardball back and refunding from these shitheads

Now they've got their whiners like you crying about getting socked in the face by Chad Customer.

I never preordered in the first place. Never trust the PIG.

It bites because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Despite how garbage PGI was on initial MWO and late and what had become of that game, I wanted to have faith they could turn a new leaf. It almost felt like they could, up to the very end, then I was proven that you cannot in fact trust the piggy. Its so laughable they're outright blocking people like SidAlpha while others simply ignore the dumpsterfire so they don't receive the hammer.

Is it Cirno because Epic is a 9? It bothers me that tuhu would be associated with that store, but she still cute. Thank you, President Bugman.

What kind of boom in population has Living Legends received from this? Can I finally join a server with more than 20 people?

Holy fuck, it's worse than I thought. Thank goodness I'm seeing this only after my hopes were already squashed.

didn't the previews for this game look like dogshit anyways?

I pirate games regardless. Steam/EGS/Uplay/Etc are all the same, just kikes selling you DRM licenses.

Way ahead of you

Looks pretty dead unless there're secret servers somewhere.

It looks like a shinier coat of paint for MWO, graphically. Walking through buildings with no resistance was a massive gay, and they confirmed you couldn't use buildings as cover or terrain because they'd collapse or become Swiss cheese instantly. That's all I know. Gameplay? Who knows.

top taste

Yeah it seems to just be arena fighting garbage like hawken or mech warrior online. If it was a real mech warrior game this would be an issue, but the game being what it is, I don't give a shit what happens to it or the people who'd play it.

It's really impressive to see someone take an almost perfect franchise in terms of video game potential and run it so hard and fast into the ground.

It's going to be garbage anyways, series died after 3.

>2019
>Epic has successfully brought console wars to the peaceful land of PC

>Hawken
>Garbage

You take that back, user. Hawken was fucking stellar for what it was. It wasn't a big stompy robots game but its gameplay and aesthetic were on fucking point. My soul wept when they took it off PC, and now it's going to be resurrected into what will mostly be an abomination. I'd play it when I wanted a faster, tighter arena shooter version of MW; I like to pretend they're Lostech meta-mechs. Also, thanks for posting best game hands down.

It's almost ironic that Harmony Gold nearly saved us from this. What a fucking clown world we live in.

Divide and conquer. Chinese took the game of capitalism and warped it with their communist bullshit.

Hawken fucking sucked and Im honestly glad its gone. It was shit.

Cease your debaucherous rhetoric, Clanner scum. I will not parlay with your batchall. Hawken was good and enjoyable; it simply didn't please your pallete.

I wish this game had online at the time.

I'm the guy who originally shit on Hawken. It wasn't really that bad but I wanted it to be more than it was.

I feel that on a spiritual level. The one that could stealth and heat sense was interesting but the game got a wee bit too fast paced.

Are the devs still begging people to stop refunding?

who the fuck cares what web browser app needs to be running in order to play your video game lmao

The sequel had online matches, but it needed that huge PS2 ethernet adapter plugged into the back of your PS2. And even then it lagged like fuckign crazy, and there was nobody online because the game wasnt very popular at all.

Reminder that MW5 will have no oinline matchmaking or PVP fighting. Its all single player campaigns and co-op play with friends to complete missions.

They still want to force people to play MWO and shell out tons of money in their F2P cashcow.

>Are the devs still begging people to stop refunding?
I never heard that they were. In fact, they laughed openly directly at people who were simply asking honest questions about the process during an AMA. People who emailed support to ask a question were given a refund without even asking or wanting one.

>preordering piggyshit
>nerfed jumpjets in a singleplayer game
>half-assed coop without shared progression and mechlab available only to the host
>introtech only even though they've got 3 times more modeled, textured and animation rigged mechs
Can't wait for these niggers to lose the license.

I only played the demo from the PC gamer magazine demo disk, but I have fond memories of it.
