That's completely wrong though? It's all about good art direction. We shit DaS2 for example in visual department not just because of the shitty lighting and textures, but because of the art direction taking a turn for generic tolkien or western fantasy.

I don't think I've ever seen someone in /dsg/ say that the Souls games have good graphics. They usually lament their own downgrade problems and constantly make fun of goofy shit like the player giraffe neck in DS3.

Souls graphics are a double edged blade, OP.
Fromsoft is great at putting together scenery to give you a wow-effect. Your first visits to Anor Londo, Irithyll, Yahar'ghul post-Rom, and similiar places will probably stick with you because they get the atmosphere of the place spot-on. But the graphics themselves, when you go close-up, are indeed worse, that probably being partly down to it being as open as it is, aside from DS3. DS2, on the other hand, just has completely shit graphics, it looks cartoony and not in a good way. I can't fault Demon's these days because it was the "first" in the series if you don't count King's Field, and was on PS3.
