The only people who attempt it are generally amateurs who often succeed in making it worse (i.e monkey Jesus). Decent art critics generally value respect, and, while you don't seem to agree with it, the majority of the art community doesn't believe direct art edits are respectful, so at least be prepared to catch shit for it next time if you're not convinced.

Oh I agree 100%. The art styles on there can be so "in your face" and obnoxious. It's an unfortunate reality and the reason why a number of people that I followed on there for years finally left for Twitter and other sites in order to leave that stigma behind. Styles are fine, new ideas are fine, but at least stick to the original concept and idea! Your thought process should always involve a base line of the original in description. thats what makes the character, what they are. take that away and its just some other idea masquarading or being forced into perspective as that character. its degrading, and the fact this is becoming the norm is honestly concerning.
