The first one is simple enough and easy if you don't fuck up too much but the second game is superior all around

SJ isn't niche, regardless of being "technically" a spinoff of SMT it's still basically a mainline game. It's also extra relevant because a remake got made not that long ago.
Both Izuna games sold like shit and they were made by small devs.

Anyone played Rondo of Swords? It even has Izuna in it.

I don't know the first did well enough for a sequel and the sequel just reused the same engine which cut down costs so I doubt it's sales were that bad

It was okay. It's a strategy game where you attack by running through enemies. Kinda hard since the enemy can do the same.

Limited run and a cult following of sorts will do that. You'll have better luck in the wild

It's a shame we never got a polished version of that game. Between the terrible translation, balance issues, kinda crappy artwork and shitty writing it turned out not nearly as good as the concept.

Someone could've easily just ripped off the mechanics and replaced the rest, there wasn't anything particularly worthwhile about the world or writing.

I only know her first by Rondo of Swords, a personal favorite despite the brutal difficulty.
In RoS, shes one of the hardest hitters in the game, like Cotton except a physical attacker. Her only problem is her accuracy, something the game doesn't tell you and there is a skill that can further increase her attack power in exchange of her accuracy. There are items that can mitigate her accuracy problem thankfully.
Now I want to replay RoS, I miss Gilgamesh Serdic.

Mystery dungeons have a pretty distinct departure from roguelikes though. By design you're not supposed to clear dungeons as base you, you go deep as you safely can and use whatever system lets you store power until you can do a clearing run.

Unfortunately the only shiren game available in English are the first, the third and the fifth one, I have never played the fifth one because the English version is only available on the vita

The first game is a classic,amazing, I cannot describe how much I fucking love that game, the third is a complete disaster by comparison and I think they realized that because 4 and 5 are a lot more closer to the original

Play the original, it's also on SNES and super easy to emulate fan translated

This game doesn't have that problem. There's dialogue, but not a lot of it. The story is somewhat interesting for what it's worth, but for the most part it's titty ninja goes into dungeon, fucks shit up, rinse, repeat.
