i loved golden sun, but i wouldn't say it's the 'best' anything. it very clearly borrowed a lot from older rpgs, but it also served as inspiration for many other rpgs to follow. the djinn mechanic where your class and abilities would change based on which djinn you had equipped was phenomenal, really encouraged you to experiment with all the different obscure moves that you could only access with certain class set-ups. Golden Sun was great, might even be one of the most enjoyable games of our time, but it's not the best, unfortunately.
