You went to an alternate timeline where this was the third game in the series

spyro 2 and 3 are uninspired shit compared to the first. the game was about worlds above everything else, not goofy wide eyed characters telling me what to do.

youtube.com/watch?v=M_VuxHhIu_k
youtube.com/watch?v=nlOpoKGK3Io
youtube.com/watch?v=8hj8IeyCCGQ
show me anything that matches up to the first games creativity

Attached: s1ht.gif (480x270, 561K)

There was no backtracking from worlds and it had the right amount of content; not too much or too little.

No one outside of Yea Forums agrees with this. They got good taste.

Attached: 20180905024332_1.jpg (3840x2160, 809K)

homeworlds in 2 are overrated and the music was just a single ambient pad from distorted reality held down the entire time. nothing like the fire copeland made for the first game. in fact he abused the fuck out of distorted reality for the second game, this is what the music sounds like without it.
youtube.com/watch?v=XI4yBhWQqwA

not him, but the 2nd homeworld is FAR from overrated, genuinely the comfiest place in all of spyro

I agree 1 is better on whole though for the same reason crash 1 is, the raw platforming. Some of 2s minigames were annoying

youtube.com/watch?v=xVVzoyZO8Z4
youtube.com/watch?v=X1HmMYlaCu8
youtube.com/watch?v=Fu_W10ftFdM
youtube.com/watch?v=nyuwhTkOHZo

The themes and atmosphere in levels were much better
Especially Magic Crafters/Dream Weavers were pure kino
Gnorc and Beastcrafter levels were also pretty great for the most part
Artisan and Peacekeeper I didn't care for much, but Ice Cavern is probably the best single level in the franchise

spbp

It's pretty simple really, Spyro 1 is more focused on exploration than either of its sequels in the OG trilogy. The only people who feel otherwise are shitters who need everything to be a fancy setpiece or stupid minigame when in fact the best moments come from organic gameplay experiences.

Spyro 1 fantards like you are autistic faggots who genuinely believe emptier, simple level design means the game has a million times more atmosphere than the two similarly designed and universally adored sequels for arbitrary reasons that can basically be summed up as "muh nostalgia".

Levels in each world being united by one theme
No minigames
Focusing on level design than on minigames/characters/power-ups

I love every bit of Spyro 1, love bits of Spyro 2 but all around think it’s alrighnr. Can’t stand Spyro 3 though.

hello cy. the squeals are watered down generic shit that tried to follow the trends of everything else, they dont hold a candle to the creative original design that was spyro 1. the first game was the heart and soul of this series and without it, the sequels would have nothing to draw from, they reused the fuck out of spyro 1 assets for a reason.

youtube.com/watch?v=nRMQLeWjdQw
youtube.com/watch?v=iIVD8rQtKug
yet faggots like will argue that shit like robotica farms, that reuse the exact same backgrounds from spyro 1 copy and pasted in multiple levels, really holds up to this

The gameplay experience has a better flow. Spyro 2 and 3 have lots of breaks and barriers that either waste your time or tell you what to do. 2 and 3 also have more schizophrenic design where there's no real connection between the overworlds and levels, and there are a lot of lazy stock level themes being used.

Spyro series is like The Witcher series, with the first, most archaic game only being praised by autists and 3 being easily the best

Except Year of the Dragon is far from the best. It's basically a mini game collection.

Year of the Dragon is what happens when all ideas have been exhausted but you still gotta milk the IP for one more game.

>No minigames
The minigames were great, though?

>Focusing on level design than on minigames/characters/power-ups
exactly
youtube.com/watch?v=578lgoDCMxI

Good taste.

>the game was about worlds
Oh yes, my favorite part of exploring a world is...
The complete lack of any evidence that it was ever lived in

>Levels in each world being united by one theme
Personally I prefer levels all being unique
The theming in Dragon Realms makes everything sort of blend together and it doesn't feel like any level stands out among the rest unless it does some shit to make people mad like the supercharge chain in Tree Tops or the attack frogs in Misty Bog

wizard peak is such a great example of that. the praise 2 and 3 get over 1 is total bullshit, normalfaggots disgust me. of course they tried to appeal to everyone, most likely the reason why the style of the first game died.

YotD was the most fun one. Muh atmosphere is what it all boils down to with all these fags. The best parts about the first game were the supercharge puzzles, which were dumbed down/non-existant in the later games. Other than that, the game was mediocre. The boss "fights" were also a bad joke.

I swear Spyro one was bugged on one level because it was impossible to get one or twi gems on the highest ledge

it was a mining level I think

>Muh atmosphere
yeah fuck the level design and art

They shouldn't be disregarded, but people overrate these parts way too much, especially with Spyro 1.

Niggers who think Spyro 1 is the best are the type of people who eat bread sandwiches, Cheerios with water, and would have a panic attack if the farts sounded one semitone higher than usual.

When Yea Forums says "atmosphere" or "comfy," ESPECIALLY regarding Spyro, what they really mean is "empty and lifeless" because for some reason they feel more at ease when completely isolated

and yet, you love eating watered down shit made to appease everyone and reeeee when someone points out superior and more original design

>unique
Spyro 1 levels are more "unique" than Prehistoric Level, Volcano Level, Arabian Level, Beach Level, Undersea Level, Future City Level...

Nothing about the newer games got less original, they just had less of a consistent theme.

Ah yes, all the unique levels of Magic Crafters, like
>mountain with illogical architecture
and
>mountain with illogical architecture
and let's not forget the seminal
>mountain with illogical architecture

Every day is a new adventure

>and yet, you love eating buzzword made to buzzword and buzzword when someone points out superior and more original design
Buy a thesaurus and go back to English class so you can expand your vocabulary.

shut the fuck up retard, I didnt even use your meme language words of the week

Schizophrenic is better than boring.

The water levels in Spyro 2 and 3 are brilliant.
A few honorable mentions:
>the "crab-level in 3
>the fun skateboard minigames
>the aztec levels in 2 and 3
>the level with the snowman in 3
>the awesome monkey ego shooter levels
>that amusement park level in 2
>the tibet level in 2
>the China panda level in 3
>that egyptian level in 3
>that swamp level in 3
1 had a nice consistent fantasy theme but the levels in 2 and 3 were just far more creative and unique.

Nothing. In fact, it is objectively the worst in every single solitary aspect without the slighest exception.

>IT'S WATERED DOWN
Even though both sequels have more content and more variety in both level design and gameplay.

>ITS MADE TO "APPEASE EVERYONE"
Literally makes no sense, and is just a negative buzzword you pulled out of your ass with no thought.

thesaurus.com/
Educate yourself

>robot level, twice
>ice level
>lava level
>jungle level
>swamp level
really creative, its not like we've seen this shit before in every cartoony game ever. show me one fucking level anywhere like the dream weaver or magic crafter worlds before you spout more bullshit. the first game had cohesive design that also manged to be unique.

shut the fuck up samefag, your taste is bland shit that everyone heard a thousand time before.

If Spyro's skyboxes were normal blue skies shit like Lofty Castle would look like any other floating fairy castle from any other fantasy world

As opposed to
>5 grass plains levels
>5 desert-ish levels
>5 mountain levels
>5 swamp levels
>5 fantasy levels
Take off those stupid nostalgia goggles already.

you cant even provide one example cy, fuck you and fuck your shitty fangame

Whenever I try to replay Spyro 2, I remember how great the hub-worlds are. And then I remember the levels themselves and every orb there being locked behind minigame.
Alchemist one is the most infamous (annoying escort mission, and then you get cockblocked from the second half because LOL YOU NEED ABILITY, which you do get and then revisit the level only to be asked to do the retarded fitst half of alchemist minigame AGAIN), but stuff like turtle soup, t-rex eggs and volcano crystal catching make me lose interest to 100% Spyro 2. Also every level having 300-400 gems tops for... no reason - guess devs hated purple and yellow gems? Removing chests and replacing them with backtrack vases also felt like devs are forcing you to backtrack because people are too dumb to find stuff without handholding, even though devs added a goddamn MAP in Spyro 2 for retards who can't find secret sections.
Spyro 3 also has problems with minigames (every sidekick's section in main levels look very bland compared to their own seperate levels - Byrd, Bentley and Agent 9's minigame sections don't even get close to their own levels), but at least not EVERY dragon egg is locked behind minigame - some are rewarded for exploration (in Spyro 2 it only happened in hub-worlds).
I can replay Spyro 1 at any opportunity I feel like, with Spyro 3 it depends on whether or not I feel like dealing with sidekicks... but I rarely replay Spyro 2 because Avalar hub-worlds are the only thing I really enjoy in that game.

>It's pretty simple really, Spyro 1 is more focused on exploration than either of its sequels in the OG trilogy.
This is objectively and demostrabily false.
Both Spyro 2 and 3 have bigger, more complex and more varied worlds even without taking into account the secret areas.
Also, having minigames to add more variety in gameplay is good, unless they detracts from the main experience; since they never do, as explained before, this means that Spyro3 is objectively better than Spyro2, which is objectively better than Spyro1.
The case is closed.

>having minigames to add more variety in gameplay is good
stop trying to pass off your fuckawful taste in games as "objective"

Remember pooftas, these are kid’s games and when I was a kid I thought the minigames were hot shit

>backtrack vases
The only thing I can agree with here, I hated those in both games.

fuck just look at these two examples. ice cavern encourages exploration, frozen shit alters has two awful minigames. really great variety here, so much more complex.

Ice Cavern is a circle
Frozen Alters is a circle that also has minigames

>Levels in each world being united by one theme
>No minigames
>Focusing on level design than on minigames/characters/power-ups
You just blatantly admitted that Spyro1 has less variety than 2 and 3.
Thanks for admitting that 2 and 3 are the better ones.
If you like less rather than more that's your personal opinion, but objectively 3 will always be better than 2 and 2 will always be better than 1.

>muh circle
you're done mate

>ice cavern encourages exploration
A clear example of nostalgia sugarcoating. Peak cringe.

>linear pathway ends where it begins
Yeah that's pretty much a circle my guy

Nearly every Spyro level does that

Fifth post best post.

Finding every collectible in the first two worlds and being able to skip Magic Crafters or Beast Makers was an experience the other two games could not replicate.
Ripto's Rage is worse than YotD because of this in my opinion. You can't 100% either game without backtracking but there was enough stuff in each world in YotD for you to not need to go back in order to reach the final boss.

That's it Yea Forums, I just bought Spyro 1

All of Magic Crafter's levels are distinct from each other in color palettes, enemy selection and environment types. It's the same for all the worlds. It's not like people are gonna confuse Dark Passage for Haunted Towers or something.

>show me one fucking level anywhere like the dream weaver or magic crafter worlds before you spout more bullshit.
Hurricos
Zephyr
Mystic Marsh
Cloud Spires
Enchanted Towers
Sgt. Byrd's Base
Frozen Altars
Honey Speedway
Super Bonus Round
Well, that was easy.
Also, I like how everyone hails Dream Weavers as the peak of human creativity when basically it was just a more wacky version of Artisans

I sincerely have trouble understanding whether this post is supposed to be serious or ironic

Attached: not sure if trolling or just stupid.jpg (140x305, 19K)

>Ice Cavern is a small circle
>Frozen Altars is a large circle that also has minigames, a different type of flame, and an original aesthetic style

>The soundfont and leitmotifs.
>The look was more centralized instead of each world having its own theme.
>game about dragons actually has more than 1 dragon in it
>the gold moving fonts

Spyro 2 is shit

The extreme linearity of 2 and 3 really hurts those games. Sure 1 had some linear levels but when that's literally all there is it makes the game feel more repetitive and formulaic.

can you be any more of an obvious samefaggot. replying to me with bullshit multiple times isn't helping your case you colossal fucking dipshit. is a shining example of why you have garbage taste and need to fuck off. your damage control is pathetic.

Bro, I like Spyro 1 the most too, but if you really think Ice Cavern is better than Frozen Altars you're just an unreasonable loyalist.

Mystic Marsh is just an african swamp. Nothing imaginative about it.

what the fuck. frozen alters has a boring layout with two awful minigames and a big fat faggot trying to squeeze money from me, that vid contains it all. the first game let me kill these retarded npcs. you're an unreasonable samefag thats been shitting up this thread desperately trying to force your retarded narrative.

I never could get into the first one, and while i like the third one at first, those levels with other characters sucked ass. 2 is the best.

>implying snow-capped mesoamerican architecture is boring

>implying aiming a laser and melting enemies and obstacles is boring
>user just wants to kill people
Are you underage? I'm asking a serious question here.

In any case, here's a word of advice: Go with Icy Peak next time. It's a much more boring & generic ice level.

Replaying Spyro 1 I actually enjoyed it more besides the bosses. The levels themselves actually feel like they scale decently in terms of difficulty even if they're never actually hard. The later levels feel like the player is expected to figure it out. Where as most if not all of the 3rd games levels you can simply gaze at your environment and tell exactly what to do from the get go. Almost the same with 2.

There isn't a lot of filler and pretty much the only mini games are the flying sims. I still like 2 a lot and 3 over the years has fallen from grace in my eyes but its still good but now I think 1 might be my favorite. Ghasty Gnorc and his minions are pretty garbage bosses though. Besides the robot I didn't much enjoy any of them and half the time forgot they were bosses and not just some side attraction.

But its not more empty honestly. Most levels post 2nd world are bigger then any of the 2nd/3rd games levels. A lot of levels in Spyro 3 are just 5 foot walking levels to 10 different mini games.

>replying to me with bullshit multiple times isn't helping your case
Mindlessly repeating "hurr durr you have shit taste" without a single rebuttal doesn't really help your case either...

>472778608
WOW this video that compares the entirety of 1 single cherrypicked level with a single cherrypicked portion of another cherrypicked level (and EVEN SO just proves how much more varied and interesting S3 is) totally showed me dude!!

>Damage control
LMAO you mean the damage to my sides due to the laughter at your seething and complete lack of any argument?

very good game design
art and color direction
That's pretty much why

>cherrypicked level with a single cherrypicked portion of another cherrypicked level
can you seethe any harder, those are perfectly good examples

Attached: spyro.jpg (150x150, 9K)

>those are perfectly good examples
No they aren't. And I even gave you a better example in the reply that you ignored.

Why do girls like Spyro so much?

the big-bellied dragons

>3 is bad because it gives you more variety with minigames, more playable characters and doesn't feel like just a lifeless gem collecting simulator anymore
lol, every time

yes they are. I gave you perfect examples that you ignored. go fuck yourself.

>more variety with minigames
yeah the two minigames in the example you ignored really added to the game, so much variety and complexity, wow. fucking dipshit.

I should preface this by saying that I never played Spyro 1 as a kid, only 2 and 3, so my nostalgia is only for the sequels.
Why Spyro 1 is a better game IMO after playing all three recently
>more focus on platforming
>"puzzles" are not baked into minigames, rather are part of the level design
>lack of NPCs grants a better ambience
The bosses are infinitely better in Spyro 2 and 3. Hub worlds are equally good in every game. Spyro 1 and 3 have the best music.
Sheila and Byrd levels were kino

Why do people hate the NPCs in 2 and 3? They don't give you hints, they just say useless info like "Can you help me?" , or some random dialogue to make the world feel more lived in, like reference other levels. They are completely optional and can be skipped.

But how are they different than the dragons in the first game who do the exact same thing ?

>every single goddamn world is comfy as fuck
>early on spyro was green
>they realized it was clashing with the green elsewhere
>so they made him purple, which contrasts to 90% of the surroundings
>which allows the player to easily see whats what but without distracting the shit out of them

You didn't respond to a single one of my points. Unless you greentexted my post number so I wouldn't get a (You) or some shit,

>But how are they different than the dragons in the first game who do the exact same thing ?
Well, the dragons are usually either hints and tutorials (oddly enough, often placed AFTER you needed them), or meaningless stock phrases like "thank you for releasing me," so I'd say they're actually worse than the NPCs in 2 and YotD

It's really hard to buy them as genuine characters

I worked on this if you're interested. has all the distorted reality and other stuff used for download. grab cdxtract and extreme sample converter, must have for this kind of shit.

best music. best level themes. basically no gay side characters and no dumb minigames. the only real cons are the boss battles.

you didnt make any points

please respond

2 > 1 >>> 3

2 felt like the overall best package. 1 had the better atmosphere and was simply a great game. 3 felt like a heavily downgraded 2.

The main flaw I found with 2 is that some of the minigames were jank, the act of finding and discovering the minigames was great though. They were seamless and made the world feel like alive, I liked discovering them. Minigames in 3 were almost all jank and felt like shit even compared to 2. They required a loading screen to get to and you knew they were nearby from the sound of the portal, never any surprised to it. The only times I had fun with 3 is when Spyro made a cameo appearance in it a few times. All the other characters we so fucking lame to play as. Spyro was already simple enough but managed to enough just enough depth to make level designs good and fun. Shit like the kangaroo was so fucking boring. You simply jump real high and that's it, there was zero thought process to the level design. The penguin seemed promising but felt too jank to enjoy. I barely remember the yeti fuck. I honestly don't even remember the other playable characters if there were any, I dropped the game before I could get to them.

see >inb4 t-those don't count!!

So a few of you in this thread seem to believe to understand what makes a good level layout versus a bad one. Why don't you prove it by making one right now to show which game would do it the best.

Or you know just keep posting 1

>not only have I BTFO you, but I offered you better examples for the next time you want to shit up a Spyro thread
>haha you have no life
Seriously. Leave. You can come back here when you've hit 18 but right now you should be playing Roblox or something.

im just here to call out the faggots that say reignited is better than classic. dont mind me

>uses tor
>shits up poll
these are never fucking accurate ever

reignited is ugly shit. spyro never had revolutionary gameplay, it was about the worlds. they fucked up the design and ruined the pastel colors and everything that made them unique.

The level design is same in both how could it be better ?

2&3 felt like 3D sonic with all the other wacky characters, no cohesion, worse soundtracks.

youtube.com/watch?v=iJSTAglk9wQ

YotD > 2 > Re1 > 1 > Re2 > Re3

Re2 and 3 are only where they are because they're buggy and buggier respectively
How has this collection not been patched yet

Based

Spyro 2 is a low quality attempt at aping rare games.

shit taste faggot

Example of them ripping off Rare ?

Spyro 2 improved the controls, has more memorable levels, a variety of content, better boss fights

Spyro 3 has the most content of the three, the best soundtrack in my opinion, the most polished visuals, and the best boss fights

All three games are amazing, though I don't think it's unreasonable to say that Reignited significantly improved Spyro 1 much like N. Sane did for Crash 1

youtube.com/watch?v=TNkJt3nr21I
>that hidden alcove
spyro 1 is good shit, had a magic to it

It went from being about the gliding and charging to being a variety show, like Banjo or Conker. Also the emphasis on learning new moves.

Except they forgot to make the variety fun. Whereas Tooie had a GoldenEye clone, obstacle courses, shootouts, etc Spyro had that atrocious spitting game, jank hockey, and trouble with the trolley.

>Spyro 2 improved the controls
there was no big leap in control quality like crash or ratchet and clank. means nothing.

Spyro 2 didn't improve the controls. The changes to gliding are superficial and only exist to make you press more buttons

>Reignited significantly improved Spyro 1
it improved nothing. I have no desire to finish this shit, but I can play OG spyro 1 and plow through it and still have a good time

The moves you learn in 2 are just o gate your progress so you don't go to the later levels since their are only 3 hubs instead of 6 like in the last game.

You could say the same about all platformers from that time period. It's not ripping off a particular game, it was a design trend, like how 'open world', 'crafting', 'battle royale' are modern trends. This continued on into PS2 era since you couldn't sell a game like it since publishers thought it wouldn't sell without mini-games. Just look at Sly Cooper, there's no reason for a stealth game to have mini-games, it ruins 1/4 of the experience.

you have 1 minute to name one good AND one bad thing for each of the original trilogy's releases

Yeti boxing

It's not about the moves, it about why they are there. It was a design decision since they couldn't make more hub worlds. The quality of the moves aren't important. One of them isn't even a move, swimming wouldn't been just part of the moveset, it was in Spyro 1 originally in the removed homeworld before it got cut.

the first game as a whole did that. hidden areas you could see but were out of reach, encouraging you to explore. thats what the whole game was about. wizard peak and ice cavern are great examples.

youtu.be/SWItVVsK33Y?t=108
great example here

>Yeti boxing
i dread this every time it shows up

Correct.
Wrong.

Have you ever heard the phrase "quantity over quality"?

>reignited over classic
This confirms Yea Forums has shit taste.

Greatest sense of loneliness, and high fantasy. The music reinforces this better than the others too.

It's the only one that truly feels like a fairy tale. It kinda feels like a book, desu

Attached: cc1558832408319.jpg (2048x1047, 151K)

I mean in an interview Insomniac said early on that running around the level was fun in and of itself, so they focused on that and interacting with the enemies (which a lot of games still think is just combat) .

I think Ratchet and Clank 1 has the exact same level design mentality as Spyro 1 with multiple paths at the spawn point and non-linearity in what level you can go to. I mean in Spyro 1 you can skip bosses which was against the norm at the time.

The reason btw why Spyro 1 and Ratchet 1 level design is the same, is because there were both designed by mostly one person - Mark Cerny. He also designed most of the levels in Crash 1.

>Spyro 2 didn't improve the controls
Confirmed for only playing Reignited. Spyro controls noticeably different in 1 and 2.

_ ____ __ ____ ____

>learn about the "double jump"
>use it casually
truly a mistake worth enjoying

How did Cerny go from being a soul factory on PS1 and PS2 to making the most soulless Playstation exclusive ever on PS4?

He means the turning circle and charge jumping. Also not being as slippy when you charge.

i know theres many changes user, i just want to enjoy the one that caused the most broken interactions

He designed the architecture for the ps4, I shit you not, the entire point of Knack existing is so the character can explode in hundreds of little physics objects and reform back again, just to show the power of the PS4. It's literally just a tech demo.

This user gets it. I wonder what held the bosses back in 1?

lewd

Wasn't this song used as the theme song of The Amanda Show?

spyro 1 controls faster and better than 2 or 3, and its not nearly as broken
youtu.be/m3O7Goy4R2E?t=2988

copeland did the music for that, so yes

I kinda didn't like that every level in 2 and 3 played out like a story

Soul. Best music in the series. Not bogged down by shitloads of mini games and playable side characters. Best aesthetics. Best level design. Really, the only thing 2 and 3 have over 1 is better controls.

fucking hell tree tops was such a great level. supercharge built into the level design, hidden shit all around. spyro 1 actually required skill, but it was easy to build that and the game rewarded you for it.

favorite spyro 1 level and why

probably jacques for how weird it is

it was weird as fuck. and I loved that.

shilling a 20 year old game. what.

the footage, not the game

1 is the best in terms of overall quality. It's a very focused game that knows exactly what it wants to achieve. The player is rewarded for becoming proficient at the mechanics. The level design is at its peak and would only go downhill, culminating in 3 being made up almost entirely of levels which are circular loops. 1 is the only one I can replay multiple times back to back without getting a little burned out. The only complaints I have are that it's pretty formulaic and not very challenging. The bosses are also pretty shit, but I guess they kinda work in their own way. Gnasty Gnorc at least should've had a proper final boss fight.

2 is my personal favorite. It's a good compromise between the bare straightforwardness of 1 and the glut of minigames and side characters that is 3. 2's minigames are generally unobtrusive and fun to play, minus one or two. The added swimming mechanic feels fantastic and lends itself to fun levels. Things like the intro/exit cutscenes for the levels and the guidebook menu interface give the game a nice sense of polish.

3 is the grandest in scale, but kind of suffers for Insomniac's attempts to shake things up. It's stuffed to the gills with content, but a lot of that consists of playing as characters who aren't as fun to control as Spyro, and minigames that are more frustrating than the ones in 2. Aside from that 3 just sort of radiates that it was rushed, there are bugs that can potentially prevent you from getting 100% and levels that don't play the correct music tracks, which they had to fix later in the Greatest Hits version. The only aspect that can be considered a big improvement over 2 is that a level's shortcuts stay active even after you leave, you never have to reactivate bridges or whirlwinds or anything if you return.

I just looked at the footage and it's just gameplay. No "HEY WHATS UP YOUTUBE!" intro, no e-celeb personality, no like and subscribe. Just simple raw footage of the game. The only thing that footage could possibly shill is the game itself.

Meant for

its what we call "long plays". its the most honest form of lets play. where you show game and only game

>loneliness
I don't know why people say this.
>have a little buddy companion following you at all times
>meet a dragon every 30 feet, who talks to you for like 15 seconds on average
>fairy appears on the same spot a dragon was in, some levels have several of them floating around
>balloonist in every home world
>enemies are all cutesy, minus maybe the hellhounds and man-eating bushes
>cheery music in every level
They just didn't include NPC quest givers and people go "It's so eerie and surreal and dreamlike!"

Attached: 1tumblr_phmi0eFqLj1sgkardo1_1280.png (1151x1567, 2.49M)

Longplays are named so to specifically differentiate them from let's plays

Let's plays, in their purest form, are interactive--hence "let's play."
They were created on forums, where the player would invite other users to make decisions about how the gameplay would go from there.
There were also narrative-style LPs with old RPGs.

Let's Plays as we know them today are the result of over a decade of iteration and innovation on the format

And longplays are not let's plays

>supercharging the keychest
good times. magic crafter worlds were sick as fuck.

dragons dont stay there with you, they vanish into thin air. most of the creatures are weird looking monsters you cant speak with.

the later games have cute little characters that you can talk to any time and they stick around. shit like you have weird pig shaped flying bird things, or those weird druids in the magic crafter worlds, etc.

I just finished playing the remake trilogy last night and 2's a lot better than 1
3 is fine but some of the friend levels were annoying and the controls were bad in a lot of the extra things
plus the sorceress was a much worse boss than ripto, as were the other bosses worse than his beasts
unrelated to the game itself but in the remake at least the last like fifth or so of 3 just explodes into bugs and buttery smooth 15 FPS

toss up between ice cavern or dark passage
both are fantastic levels and they were never topped in the sequels

>Greatest sense of loneliness
did we play the same game

come on. the later games are filled with friendly npcs and more generic level themes. the first game was a hike through weird magical worlds, none of the games after had the same feeling.

>the later games are filled with friendly npcs
sure i guess but you just had the dragons to take the place of "random npc that tells you the basic game mechanics for the 50th time"
>and more generic level themes.
no
>the first game was a hike through weird magical worlds, none of the games after had the same feeling.
i don't see why you think this, all of the extra minigames and shit got out of hand in 3 but it doesn't really change much about any of the levels

i can understand not liking the gameplay differences between 1 and 2 but 1 sure as fuck was not "lonely"

Where is the PC release?

Attached: 1528718228902.png (300x188, 22K)

>filled with friendly NPCs
About as common as the dragons in 1, maybe 4 or 5 per level.
>more generic level themes
Spyro 1's only "unique" theme was Dream Weavers.
>grass land world with castles
>desert world with one underground ice cave
>mountain world with castles
>swamp world with one redwood forest
>floating islands inside nebulae
>industrial factory world
2 and 3 had about the same ratio of video game trope levels and unique ideas.
>city on the ocean floor
>savanna surrounded by goo with weird hybrid animals
>fleet of shipwrecks stuck in the desert floating in acid

Great music and atmopshere with an "otherworldy" feel.
Simple but kino levels without the excessive NPCs and minigames in the sequels.

2 and 3 are still good, but 1 remains the best.

>Spyro 1's only "unique" theme was Dream Weavers.
no it wasnt you fucking faggot. each world had its own unique architecture, color schemes, etc.. if you think wild west level or egypt tomb level or fucking swamp level isnt generic shit done in every cartoony game ever, you are just dumb. point to any level from any fucking game like magic crafters, or even stone fucking hill.

wish you could upgrade sparx in 1 and 2

I shouldn't be surprised that Yea Forums is the place where people circlejerk about how this game they played when they were 5 was so much better than the game they played when they were 6

Muh backtracking is the most bullshit meme complaint I've ever heard. Fucking Yea Forums shitting on beloved classics like the Spyro sequels and Banjo Tooie and PM TTYD because backtracking, while ignoring any instances in other games.
>Mario 64- entirely built around coming back to the same levels over and over, early courses can't even be completed because they have stars that can only be gotten by unlocking the caps later
>Banjo Kazooie- Freezeezy and Gobi's Valley have a Jiggy that can only be gotten by using an ability from the other level, need speed shoes from later on to beat Mr. Vile if you can't git gud, have to come back to Treasure Trove Cove however many times to enter the Cheato codes
>Crash trilogy- have to come back to earlier stages after unlocking the gems in later ones

Are you high? This is one of the most generic levels in the game, not to mention all of the "bosses" in 1 were dog shit outside of MAYBE gnasty

>fortress on the cliffs in the desert

Attached: mexico.jpg (1280x720, 182K)

still waiting shitcunt, whats the matter it should be easy the way you're talking

Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie were hot garbage. Only popular because they're on Nintendo platformers. I've never seen or heard anyone shit on the Crash trilogy for gem routes. You're probably taking bait user.

>Mario 64 and banjo were hot garbage
You're right I probably am taking bait right now, but maybe it's just an inferiority complex compared to how much better than spyro they were/are.

looks fucking nothing like it, try again. and I dont see weird shit charging at you off the cliffs or any sick ass color getups.
youtu.be/7EUMOCU1-uk?t=35

Any desert level in a game ever, hell there's probably multiple in any mario game
>and I dont see weird shit charging at you off the cliffs or any sick ass color getups.
oh ok so you're just pretending to be retarded

retard doesnt get most of the levels in the first are spins on real world places, doesnt mean they are generic

>and I dont see weird shit charging at you off the cliffs or any sick ass color getups
>it's not LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME LEVEL so it doesn't count!
user...

>WOW WHAT THE FUCK THERE AREN'T ANY DRAGONS IN THIS AREA THAT'S NOT SPYRO!
If I wasn't friends with someone who was super into the games and had just played them myself I'd think all the people who like it are just as retarded as you

>looks fucking nothing like it
The visual aesthetic doesn't have to look identical you nard gargler, the point is that the theme of the level is not unique or interesting. You just posted a level called "Dry Canyon", which is a dry desert canyon. There are a million desert canyons in vidya. A desert canyon is not a groundbreaking idea that Spyro invented.

fuck you then. like tomb level or robot level that reuses spyro 1 backgrounds are any better. its based on mexican shit so that makes it generic? go fuck yourself.

>its based on mexican shit so that makes it generic?
No, it's based on something that is commonly used as a setting with plenty of examples so that doesn't make it this incredibly unique setting that no video game has ever done before you fucking autist

>I wonder what held the bosses back in 1
Find boss
Boss does one single easily avoidable attack
dodge it
flame boss once
boss moves to next platform/arena
boss gets an extra move which is slightly harder to dodge

youtube.com/watch?v=nRMQLeWjdQw

3d land is bland and boring and 3d world isn't much better
also dk64 is better than banjo but they're both still good games
spyro 1 is fine but it's such a barebones game compared to the others, 2's definitely the best though the monkey levels in 3 were an interesting gimmick

Gee user, you're right. The desert land in Spyro 1 is WAAAAYYY more interesting than the desert lands in Spyro 2 and 3.

everything

Attached: send nudes.png (1164x591, 153K)

I think the "loneliness" and "surreal" factors in Spyro 1 come when you've already gotten most/all of the dragons in a stage and you're wandering around trying to find that last few gems or that one hidden dragon. You've killed the enemies, the dragons pedestals look empty, and you're just wandering in these geographically impossible stages with colorful, alien skyboxes and moody music. The ambience is just different than 2 and 3

shut the fuck up retard, go play wild west level and shove it your ass

None of these characters are recurring companions besides sparks, and he doesn't speak.

I am actually playing wild west level right now, it's the last one I'm doing for 3.
but please get help, this isn't healthy

Attached: file.png (1920x1080, 1.69M)

if you're going to be a reductionist shitcunt and ignore all the unique stuff they built for the first game then fuck you. each world had its own unique architecture built for it, you could look around any level and tell what world you were in just because of that, and at the same time none of them looked the same. they were spins on real world places instead of taking shit that was being done in every fantasy game at the time.

>instead of taking shit that was being done in every fantasy game at the time.
it is hilarious to me that you think this
like, it was a fine game, but this is like if people took the DEEPEST LORE mario posting seriously and then tried to say it made the game unique

hell speaking of sm64 had a lot more "unique" levels than spyro did

2 is objectively the best Spyro game but as a kid, 3 was my favourite.

let me guess, bright rolling hills are also generic to this shitcunt

(You)

What type of level themes would you like to see in a new Spyro game? Just so we can get a consensus on what kind themes work in these games.

Like Dino Mines feels out of place, yet Gnorc Nexus doesn't. Probably because of context of it being the end of the game? But still what are your thoughts on this?

The architecture is just as good in all three, it just got more varied since the level themes were more sporadic. John Firoito is an architect and was the main environment artist for the three games.

>bright rolling hills are also generic to this shitcunt
they are in fact the most generic design ever
it's clear at this point that you're just pretending to have a mental illness, so have a good day pretending or whatever

Stop replying to him. He has weapons-grade autism.

Sequels are soulless, just like remakes and remasters

the less the level resembles anything in real life the better
to me best levels look like something a creative child would draw

Atmosphere and music. It was a solo adventure without distractions of secondary characters or minigames; collect gems, kill baddies, free dragons.

Attached: 1521133179171.png (1920x1080, 573K)

Spyro was boring empty trash compared to SM64

3>2>1

Get fucked faggots. Spyro 1 is just a shitty platformer

I think levels like gnorc cove fit because the design of the tech in those levels never seemed to go past the WWII era of technology.
For some reason big and bulky tech tends to fit in well with fantasy settings where more modern stuff stands out more.(ie steampunk, dieselpunk)

Nobody said anything was "generic", the argument was that Spyro 1's level themes are more unique and memorable than the ones in the sequels, which is bullshit. They've all got the same ratio of oft-utilized video game cliches and properly unique ideas.

Attached: 1542559027480.jpg (3840x2160, 755K)

I liked how spyro 2 did a light touch connecting the worlds. The levels in spyro 1 feel like they geographically center around the home worlds. In spyro 2 I appreciated that most of the levels were linked to another. Colossus being the highlands of idol springs, zephyr and breeze harbor being at war with each other, etc. I'd like to see something sort of half-way between 1 and 2. Keeping the level variety, showing off the sort of cultural spread of the land, but also somehow tie it in to the homeworld so you can see a geographic relation as well. 3 suffers because the level variety comes at the cost of disconnecting them from each other. I'm just warping from one theme park location to the next.

3 had too many gimmicks I think and half of them are bad (like the penguin levels) and the bosses are a joke compared to the ones from 2

There's a lot of race wars in 2 where you help both sides, it's kind of weird.

I always thought that the different worlds were separate planets, and you were flying through space when you used a portal.
Its a probable theory to explain how different the skies in each world are.

this spyro 1 ride or die autism is something else holy hell

Attached: 1563208355360.jpg (1462x1462, 411K)

Attached: gems.gif (500x389, 643K)

Fine, 2>3>1. I just think that 3 has more SOUL

Yeah Spyro 2 having levels connected to each other and also npc referencing them makes it feel more believable. Spyro 3 lacks a lot of world building, except having npcs outside of the levels in the homeworld I think helps a little bit.

according to Yea Forums you can either enjoy something in its original, purest form or your taste is absolute cancer dogshit
at least this is what I noticed

Honestly thought the second game made the first seem like a tech demo.

It was about a dragon going through amazing worlds, and nothing more.

Spyro 1 is mindnumbingly repetitive and the platforming is not nearly good enough to keep it interesting. Whine about 2's theme park approach all you want but it actually made it worth playing for more than an hour.

made the first look like a masterpiece, fuck your goofy characters
>herp derp spyro I need to suck my cock for this orb

I'd like to see levels that are home to enemies like Rhynocs kind of like how Paper Mario has Koopa npcs to show that not all of them are evil.

Yeah that's a good one. In Spyro Enter the Dragonfly there's a level with egg thieves being the NPCs called Thieves Den. It's a shit game but the theme for that level is pretty great.

right, doing chores for some faggot is really better than hiking through magical worlds that encourage exploration

I think all three games are perfectly good enjoyable games for their own reasons.
Post Spyro art you fucking niggers.

Attached: 1558740190380.png (2000x2000, 1M)

The true Spyro fan loves the original 3 and GBA games and shits on everything after.

Autism and purism tend to walk hand in hand.

>right, doing chores for some faggot is really better than hiking through magical worlds that encourage exploration
And doing said chores usually involves exploring the map. You might as well play a walking simulator at this point, muh atmosphere fags are truly insufferable.

September 3rd.

Attached: 1542323204576.jpg (1920x1361, 685K)

I played one of the gba games as a kid but don't really remember which one, it was nic enough.
I only just played the originals in the past month, they were fine enough but 1 was kind of empty.

Insomniac used to be fun.

Attached: Terry yikes.png (338x410, 139K)

have fun guiding that alchemist around while an earthshaper smashes his face in

My thoughts exactly
I really can't fault people for liking one over two though, the simpler, straight forward exploration is very nice.
The other animals in 3 just weren't as fun to play as Spyro. Sheila would be much better if she had more horizontal momentum on her high jumps.
I think 2 was a perfect inbetween 1 and 3, minigames and npcs that fleshed out a level but not as bloated as 3 felt.
3 was still good though.

Have fun dealing with the braindead platforming while you desperately look for that one last gem all over the map.

Attached: stop taunting me.png (643x387, 90K)

have fun sucking hunters cock while he talks down to you like a child. the dragons were at least cool.

I always liked how Dragon Shores had redeemed gnorcs working in it. I've always thought that the balloonists in 1 were gnorcs too, because they look almost identical to the Gnorc Cove enemies.

Attached: untitlegnorc.jpg (529x238, 40K)

How would you make the platforming more interesting then?

might have to try those out

>Muh characters

I don't really know why either

imagine thinking 3 is the best with its disjointed levels and obnoxious persistent minigames

Attached: 1498327413624.gif (480x279, 568K)

The balloonists were originally vikings that used boats. They changed them later by reusing those gnorcs you posted since I guess humans don't really belong in the Dragon Realms.

Attached: boatman.png (795x425, 763K)

did they have to push out the remake earlier than they wanted? the 3rd one has a lot of glitches and fps issues and the trophy list is so bad

>Don't ask me to fix your game, I don't work for free.

Wow you really proved me wrong.

They had to outsource 3 to Sanzaru.

I love all three original games, but the first is definitely my favorite, the overall harmony of the worlds and hubworlds is something I'm pretty autistically in love with, it's probably also why I enjoy Crash 1 so much too.

Completely agree, I can respect 1 over 2 and 2 over 1. Even on my list 2 only has the slightest of edge over 1. I just don't understand people thinking 3 is the best. It feels like a huge downgrade overall.

The right was never a gnorc, yet Toys 4 Bob have down syndrome.

Of course. 1 clearly had the most amount of work put into it. It needed another year, maybe two.

Attached: 1558741025590.gif (320x240, 278K)

I mean the shepherds were humans, even before Reignited. I always thought they were weird bird men with beaks, but looking back you can kinda tell because they have individual fingers and toes and are the only enemies to speak words to you.

Attached: Shepherd,1a.jpg (137x184, 27K)

Spider-Man was fun

Fake news, they simply finished it.

2 didn't have any issues and even 3 seemed to be fine, but then around the last world or so 3 starts falling apart REALLY badly
it even affected the earlier stages when I went back, the superflight powerup in cloud spires just literally does not function anymore
spyro started to t-pose in the tank minigame in the egypt level and didn't stop for a few minutes

Well, not real humans (gems transformed into fake ones).

Why would the enemies in "Gnorc Cove" not be gnorcs? They had different skin colors and stuff. Some had red eyes and some had white, and all the big ones looked different too.

Attached: 1d20.jpg (787x1043, 197K)

>2 didn't have any issues
Yes it did
It had a number of bugs in its own right
YotD just had more

Well I suppose I just never ran into any of them.

I like it because it's high up in the peaks, snowing and the bears are cute. It also had the best minigame :^)

Attached: 1523923869423.png (1280x1467, 568K)

Yeah I should've said human features instead. Like take Handel and Greta from 2 and 3, they don't really fit in with the aesthetic. Yet the Mayor and the Explore do. I think it's because you can't see their eyes and mouths, making them more cartoony and less human.

Attached: the-mayor-spyro-2-riptos-rage-7.84.jpg (210x240, 10K)

one thing though that's retarded is that 2 and 3 don't have credit sequences, they just reuse the same one from 1 which doesn't fit 2 or 3 at all
anyway 8/10 series 2 is the best

>besides the bosses
Dr. Shemp is great.

>He better watch his back

I still think the Spyro 1 remaster should've played up the spookiness instead of making it even more cartoony.

Because Gnorc Cove is Twilight Harbor. The names were changed for some reasons after the game exited the Beta stage.

Sheep fucker.

>cuteness being a factor

It did that for all three. Spyro was cartoon fantasy, but Reignited slid too much into cartoon instead of balancing it.

Attached: DsJZPmYUwAAlVl3.jpg (1920x1080, 129K)

It was the explorative nature of the game. The other 2 aren't exactly linear but they're nothing like 1 when it comes to not deviating from the core gameplay.

The one thing Reignited did best was the dragon designs. Besides a few of them they were great, and hopefully we'll see more of them in a new game if it happens.

Spyro 1 had the most spooky potential, though.

You use "nerd" in the wrong place, sir. Also, you seem to lack a brain. Non-gnorc enemies in a level called Twilight Harbor, that gets the name changed. Things get changed, sure, but this change leaves an artifact of the prior title. Not gnorcs are not gnorcs. It's simple, really.

I'm the most familiar with 2, so I'm biased towards it, but I always felt like it had the best balance between platforming and variety. Maybe I'm wrong as I haven't played the other 2 in at least a decade, but I remember 3 just feeling gimmicky and 1 feeling like it was just missing something.

These guys weren't even human, they had bubblegum colored skin and demonic powers.

I also used to angle the camera up the dress of the fairies, so that was nice.

Pure vanilla action platforming game while sequels threw in new gimmicks (for better or worse) to shake things up. There wasn't really any story of boss fights and the few they had were so integrated into the levels they appeared in they didn't really feel like bosses.

Based Kempferzero is based.

>Oh yes, my favorite part of exploring a world is...
>The complete lack of any evidence that it was ever lived in

that's exactly the charm to it. The sense of stillness after the dragon were gone and the exploration for the sake of itself. And of course the lack of furry talking friends and shitty quests

I remember one of the things people bitched about when the first snippets of the remaster dropped was the flags at the tops of the towers, saying they made it look like a theme park. They were always there, and a nice touch is that each world has a unique design.

I'm actually surprised of how little fanart there is of other characters. You'd think it would have reignited interest in them.

I don't hate the NPCs in the later games but 1 is special because while maybe not lonely (though I would say so) it definitely feels more empty and spooky, it's a more consistent trippy dreamscape than the sequels. Pure platforming even if a bit rudimentary, also has the best music (though there's great tracks in all of them).

2 I'd say is about equal in terms of quality but I prefer 1 for the above personal autistic and otherwise reasons.

3 is still decent but easily the worst, minigames out the ass (that aren't even part of the level and make you go through a portal) become frustrating, the alt playable characters aren't great, the fps segments, boxing, twin dragon boss, tank derby etc I could go on, are all a chore.
The last homeworld feels rushed, haunted tomb feels like it belongs in a different game, desert ruins feels unfinished, crystal islands being the only good level. Every other one forces you into le fps segment and sure it's supposed to be a neat little gimmick but it's janky and lame in the current year.

That's Spyro 2. Spyro 3 at least has some decent levels too

It was specifically made as a tribute to the first game's level design.

One thing that appealed to me with Spyro was its high fantasy atmosphere. Anyone who appeared human was vaguely humanoid and the amount of creatures, animals, monsters and so on was really cool. Avalar was especially high fantasy and felt like a new world in comparison to the Dragon's World. I stand by my choice to not play the remakes.

its like alpine ridge and town square had a child

No gay other animal friends that aren't dragons. No shitty gimmicks either. This game kept things simple and ways better for it.

I won't play them either. Overall well done, but certain details offend my soul. Like SOME terrible redesigns. And cobblestone.

Who cares really, they're all good.

Purity of design. It knew exactly what it wanted to be, and executed it perfectly.
With 2 and 3 they started adding in more and more unnecessary extra stuff just to give the sequels a reason to exist, minigames, characters and quests, that sort of shit. Plus there was the natural decline in creativity that happens with any sequels. They're still good, but they're not near-flawless masterpieces like the first game was.

No, you have to pick a side. You're not allowed to like all of them.

Tree Tops is the GOAT, but Dark Hollow is the comfiest level in the series.

So they could have worlds like Magic Crafters and Dream Weavers that are high in the air.

I always thought the dream weaves could only ever be reached with magic. one of the levels you look down at the sun. and other shit. the entire place is floating in a dream world above an infinite void.

Why?

It was my first spyro game

He's probably a 2000s babby and it was his introduction to the series.

had a couple good level ideas, but the game was a disaster
youtube.com/watch?v=HKdfGvQ9yVg

I played the GC version when I was a lil shit. I never thought it was noticeably worse compared the originals, it was kind of a surprise seeing people shit talk it on the internet. I can see the flaws now, being kinda ugly and way shorter, but I still think it had some cool mechanics and level themes. The GC port was more polished than the earlier PS2 version, so I was never put off by bugs or hour long load times or anything. I think it would be neat if it got remade, it's short enough that they could package it as a $20 expansion pack for Reignited or something like that.

Attached: Jurassic Jungle.jpg (810x520, 54K)

Well, I was almost a 2000s babby. Even as a wide-eyed little boy I could recognise that it was poorly made unfinished tripe.

They think about character's bodies in a radically different way. A non-freak wouldn't think too hard about what the foot-pads of a dragon would look like, nor would they give an animal character a slender humanlike form complete with spine-crease.

t. Had a brief stint of drawing furry porn to pay for a holiday.

Y'all fucking retarded. Spyro 3 ran the trilogy and incorporated so many features that made it a more fulfilling game.
>Skateboard mini games in each level that were games in themselves
>Colorful diverse levels with a unique fun soundtrack.
>Multiple playable characters
>Start out with swimming ability
>Much more

Spyro 1 was pure shit. Stupid ass plot, Bland levels, and repetitive gameplay. Seriously, 50+ Powerful ass fire breathing adult dragons had to rely on some random baby dragon to save their asses from one gnorc?

They could've made it a better game by giving you control of an entire dragon army once freed and letting you storm the gnorc fortress in a frenzied blood bath the likes of which the world has never seen. That's as fucking metal as you could get in a game, There'd be no need for a sequel.

Spyro 2 chick had some hot goat chick, but it was equally as worthless.

Eastern Europe, mein freund.

As a kid, 3 was my favorite for the reasons you described, but on repeat playthroughs all the mini games get repetitive and boring. This is to spyro 2's detriment, and spyro 3 adds more. Backtracking can be great for exploration first time around, but is a hassle on repeat. Spyro 2 skips this witch cheats, you can get all the abilities and then 100% levels as you enter them. It feels especially bad when the backtracking feels forced. Spyro 2 (which doesn't do it that well) will lock you out of certain areas because you can't climb. Once you learn what ladders are you come back. Spyro 3 will lock you out because you haven't found a character yet and gives you a big sign saying "unlock the penguin then come back". Or the sparx levels are locked out by some criteria i never really figured out, just had to keep coming back to see if i can play it.
The music is pretty good in 3, but everything past midnight mountain doesn't have any unique music. Depending on your release of the game, you either get some other level's music, or you get a really obnoxious remix of an older level's music. But given you want dragons storming the gnorc fortress in a spyro game, it doesn't surprise me your tastes are on par with a 9 year old.

>Or the sparx levels are locked out by some criteria i never really figured out, just had to keep coming back to see if i can play it.
You just beat the boss for that area, there's nothing else to it.

>Assumes you can't have a hardcore RTS Dragon vs Orc game with an 18+ targeted demographic.

I didn't like how story heavy the second two were, and the characters look kind of retarded. I would have liked it if they kept it Lion King style and kept all the anthro bullshit out.

I think Spyro 2, like Crash 2, is the best, good balance of gameplay and gimmicky or vehicle levels.

I will tell you, Spyro 1 has the best OST and most SOUL.

It got even worse in 4th game

I think sparx's color being a health indicator was one of the most genious form of limiting UI I have seen in a game. Its very intuitive and well designed.

The random blotches on his body/face is the worst part of his design. Dont understand why they did that.
Her eyes look dead a souless. She seems slightly depressed and a druggy

If you examine any of the dragons or other reptile characters you'll see that they added splotches everywhere instead of a proper scale pattern. It's very obvious on Spyro himself.

Everyone knows that Spyro 2 is the best.
Now if Spyro 1 had hovering, then it'd be better than 3.

hover is a pointless added layer of control

It makes you feel more like you actually have wings.

>press a button if you're not quite gonna make it over the edge

so what, it saves your ass? if you missed the jump, you missed the jump. you die. hover only gives you the illusion of control.

>tfw when you go to the highest point in Autumn Plains and fly across the map to that quiet, peaceful, ambient music and gently land.

This and Zoe's panties were the only redeeming factor of EtD. Even the music was non-existent, I literally heard background noise that vaguely resembled Stewart's music.

Yeah, the original is not only better texture-wise but he looks like a lizard vs. that...creature that supposed to be a reptile.

And Spyro 1 was okay despite having a pointless and unnecessary rolling move mapped to the shoulder buttons? You're talking out your ass. Just say you like Spyro 1 more, that's okay. Don't spew bullshit to slander the sequels.

who the fuck was talking about the roll move nigger. if they added hover to spyro 1 all of the jumps would be the same but your gliding would be nerfed to compensate for this fucking pointless shit.

The OST was like the only good part of EtD.

The gliding is the same you fucking idiot, they just replaced the button that makes you stop and drop like a rock with a button that makes you stop and float upward a bit.

or they would just move all the jumps back further. its pointless.

you are a stupid motherfucking bastard

They're still good but they have a lot of the same instruments compared to say

and

and they sound way more distinct

spamming the fuck out of distorted reality didnt make them any more distinct

I recently played the ps1 version of spyro 1. It's a very different game from spyro 2 and 3. The gameplay and the worlds are much more essential, the game is shorter and less challenging, and the replay value is lower, but these are also the reasons someone would prefer it over spyro 2 and 3 maybe. It's just more of a "spyro itself" game than anything else. It's spyro, without anything else, and it's fun. The game aesthetic is also quite different, more ico-like if I should make a paragon, more "metaphysical". Personally I love both spyro 1 and 2 equally. Spyro 3 left me with a bitter taste instead, it was a goofier spyro 2 without the magic of spyro 2 worlds coupled with uninspired side characters

What the hell does that mean?

>it does nothing but needlessly complicate the controls. I never really gave a shit about that but
