SAM got three new finishers; a single target Guren, a second Iaijutsu that's executed right after the first with instant cast and doubled potency, and one that's charged using meditation. Cast time on Iaijutsu is almost halved, buffs are no longer positional, and everything got a nice buff all around.
TP is also no longer a thing, so AOE combo spam is something you can do continuously now.

You can do level 80 maps for aquapolis and hope you get lucky. Hunts/roulettes/80 dungeons for materia. Eureka(lol). Just keep playing and doing content and it will start rolling in.

Content isn't even that hard, it's just the playerbase that keeps refusing to cooperate with one another. That's why we see huge differences between NA and Jp clear rates.

in the context of min ilvl, the reward doesn't justify the difficulty of finding a group together and doing the content while gimped. so it's the content at fault.

If you have oGCD heals up, prioritize using those over GCD heals so that you can keep doing damage and weaving heals in between your aoe. If you have agro, run to the tank and stay right on top of him until he takes it off of you. That is literally all there is to it.

Umbral soul is just a transpose replacement. You use it to keep eno from falling inbetween pulls or if you're in ice you use it when you would drop eno otherwise. You're not supposed to use it as part of a rotation or anything. It's a QoL thing.

Flare wipes all your umbral hearts anyways, all hearts are consumed. Freeze only grants one heart to accommodate going into and out of Flare as fast as possible for an AoE rotation, since Flare only cares that you have Umbral Hearts and not how many of them you have. You'll have enough MP to get off a second, full-power Flare after, and two more if you use an X-Ether and/or use Manafont.

Once you get it it refreshes your Umbral Ice timer and grants an umbral heart and an umbral ice stack.

Also, when APM translates to brainlessly spamming 2-3 buttons, that shouldn't translate to dps. MCH is a good example of that. An example of what kind of gameplay should be rewarded with high dps is SMN.

No. Because this is not competitive game. Some jobs should be hard for sake of difficulty. If it's clunky don't play it. Simple. And I know people who cal NIN clunky are kb+m autists with 200ms+. NIN is called clunky since HW.

I'm stupid and misread what you were asking for, none of the jobs really look bad as casters. Roes are muscle-wizards, elezens are tall enough to look like imposing D&D wizards, lalafell have custom SCH/SMN animations and their entire race is predisposed to being mages since they look silly as physical DPS jobs, highlander are low-grade roe muscle-wizards, midlander and au ra are kinda bleh, hrothgar and viera have a hard time looking the part since they can't wear hats

NIN was basically perfect in SB. I played it on the West Coast at ShB launch and it was literally painful to play.
