It's awesome because his entire narrative is making people mad so that the game gets mass media attention for free. Outrage marketing.
The problem is that as people get desensitized they have to push the bar harder to get people equally as mad to get the same amount of attention for the games. You can tell if it worked because shitters like the Quartering will make a video about it if they reach the tipping point of anger.
In this case it worked because we all now know about this game now (that most of us did not know about before), it's going to get to silly levels though and eventually stop working.
The Epic store right now is working as a MASS FREE ADVERTISING campaign for every company that swaps, it benefits indie games to a massive degree and does very little for AAA companies that don't need advertising. They pay for a guaranteed amount of sales, so even if the games sell zero copies Epic will still give them the value of 100 thousand copies or whatever their agreement is and they get mass attention too.
