Which are the most fun weapons?
I've never played a monster hunter before and picked the long sword because somewhere it was recommended for beginners. I find it pretty boring tho.

Switch axe or hammer

On the balance of difficulty of combos\damage output\fun rotation I find the switchaxe the most entertaining.

I'd say weapons like Charge Blade, Greatsword, and Bow are fun. Though Charge Blade is just unga bunga saed, Greatsword is piss easy now, and Bow is basically Longsword for ranged.

The hammer is elegant, it is always fun to think about what move I should charge or go for in the current situation. The light bowgun is fun because you can use spreadsheet and just roll around shotgunning faces.

I also like the switch axe but I might drop it for something else I haven't tried yet.

GS technically has variety because you can choose to either attack head or tail but in the end GS users always go for the head anyway.

the modder in question (guy who made the handler face mod and the handler in the pic you're responding to) tried using other character models in her place. It's hit and miss, the facial animations can range to just goofy to fucked and cloth physics are 100% fucked which is funny

Yeah, I used to be a user. That little explosive charge attack is cool and all, but the combos are pretty lackluster. I moved on to the charge blade. Coolest weapon I've use by far since the insect glaive. It's challenging at first. But mastering the rhythm of how to use it is indeed satisfying.

Plus I like that there's a shield. That thing has saved my ass many a time.

There are a lot of nice armor tweaks, if you find a set you like and there is maybe a small thing you are not happy with it's worth seeing if someone has made an alteration mod. The odogaron masks for example.

Inagami is supposed to fight like Kirin but if he was a predator and not a herbivore. His weird Elder Dragon Power is that he accelerates the growth of plantlife around him, and he’s fought in a bamboo forest so they grow incredibly fast due to bamboo naturally growing fast. A bit more out there but he’s an Elder Dragon, making plants grow faster isn’t really that crazy compared to a ton of Elders.

I’ll end with a classic. Espinas was the third monster ever added to Frontier (the first two were Lavasioth and Hypnocatrice) and is considered by many to be Frontier’s mascot. He’s generally very unaware of his environment because his scales are so thick he can barely feel pain, and doesn’t even realise he’s being attacked when you first start hitting him because he can’t feel it. Once he understands he’s being attacked though he flips his shit though.

It's probably a toss up between Gore and Steve for 4/4G but most people think of Gore when thinking about 4th Gen if we're going by that metric.
Glav was the primary promo monster for X and XX. XX didn't sell anywhere near as well as X so chances are most people think of Glav for Gen anyways too.

However Fatalis isn't a flagship. Fatalis was the final boss of 1. Crimson of G. White of Dos. He's the OG Elder, and did get a spot on the picture. They said they wanted to show the history of monster hunter to newcomers so Fatalis being in the game is more likely than not.

I think the slim with the built in ethernet port was out at the time MonHun released. You'd be surprised how popular the online was in Japan. It's the only reason the game survived until Portable 1 released and launched the franchise into a phenom.

Don't do this in the 2nd half of the AT Nerg fight though, he follows up every hit he manages to land with his flying dunk and you HAVE to get up and roll under him to avoid that because you'll start automatically getting up before the last hit if you try to wait.
And I honestly never figured out how to deal with it with Lance since you can't survive that much chip damage even with Guard +5 if you just took another hit. Evade Extender 3 and shuffle forward as fast as you can I guess.

I did over 40 KT runs.

After that I installed a mod that allowed me to essentially buy the stupid gold weapon thing, only unidentified, so I still had to wait until a group did the run etc.

Long story short, I bought enough to get the weapon I actually wanted, then ran the math to find out how much time it would have taken to get it, assuming I always achieved pursuit 7 and all. The final math came down to something like 80 hours.

Is running Kulve Taroth for 80 hours fun? No it isn't, I don't think it's fun for anyone.

Did I hurt anyone doing this? Not really.

World doesn't do much culling. Most entities on the map are always being rendered regardless of distance or camera facing.
The PC port has improved performance a lot from its initial release but it is still very demanding if you want perfectly stable framerates.
