Fantasy setting that’s existed for thousands of years

>fantasy setting that’s existed for thousands of years
>no one’s discovered electricity yet
>everyone still uses bows and crossbows, instead of firearms

Because the world keeps getting blown up because of the fucking wizards/demons/ancient evils in the fantasy world, user. Every century or so they have a god damn apocalypse.

There’s no need to get electricity when magic exists
Need someone to deliver goods
Railroads? We just teleport
Need to cook my food?
Just cast fire

Fuck off to sci-fi if you want to be autistic, fantasy is inherently romantic

I think the idea is that magic existing makes technology progress at a very very very slow rate because magic does all that shit.

Humans civilisation has been around for 400000 years though. Even Modern day shit has been happening for 6000 and electricity and firearms are very recent. Learn history before being retarded this publicly.

Fantasy is for uncreative faggots. There's only like two authors who have ever written a good fantasy novel and literally zero good fantasy video games.

Why the fuck would you care about electricity if fucking magic exists?

Doesn't ShadowRun have wizards and magic along with the internet.

dragons dogma was fun

Never played it but sounds dope

>uncreative faggots
Then why are you upset that fantasy isn't copying the exact same path of technological improvement as real life?

Can't wait for you to reveal the authors that are "good" are the most bland entry level and unimaginative writers.

based

This. People who complain about fiction lacking realism are almost always ignorant on reality.

In shadowrun magic doesn't show up until modern times IIRC, rather than the two developing side by side.

This, how are you expected to not stagnate when fucks keep destroying towns full of records on how to make new shit?

Only mages would have access to those powers, though. Magic-less plebs would be forced to hire mages for those services at likely an expensive fee. Wouldn’t some muggle genius eventually research into technology to give the common man more even ground against the magician-filled monopoly?

Don't put words in my mouth, faggot.

Any science fiction in any media is better than fantasy simply on the basis that science fiction tries to have roots in reality. Fantasy is always so fucking formulaic. It could be literally anything new you could imagine but it's always the same shit. It's such a tired and worn out genre that I can't believe people still suck it's dick.

Faggot would be immediately killed by mages who threaten to ruin the easy life

Ive got something to put in your mouth right here buddy

You seem upset

>reality means it’s good
nice Amerithinking

Yes but as said, the magic stuff didn't really show up till the tech had already advanced.

It's better than magic, dragons, elves, dwarves and ancient ruins in every fucking video game and book forever you double nigger.

STFU eurofag you’re either from britian(liberal shit hole) france(liberal shithole) or some country no one has given a fuck about since the Cold War

try reading stormlight archive if you want something different in fantasy genre

You have to understand that realism, like anything else is simply a means to an end, with the end ideally being "a good game". Too many realismfags obsess over realism for its own sake regardless of whether it actually adds anything. If you want realism because you think it'll improve the immersion, or make combat more tactical, or give the game a more gritty feel, then great. But shitting on lighthearted adventure just so you can brag about how "realistic" your game is does nothing but satisfy your own urge for intellectual masturbation.

I like the settings where black powder weapons exist but for some reason it's in tandem with all the other fantasy schlock

>actually implying all fantasy is lighthearted
>actually implying fantasy is somehow better because of lighthearted adventure
You were dropped multiple times as a child, right?

This is mentioned in Forgotten Realms though. If some dude invents electricity or technological shit Harpell family find him and destroy his works.

Sci fi =/= hard scifi

Sci fi schlock heavily outweighs the good stuff

That goes double for fantasy and you know it.

Human civilization has existed for ~6000 years, electricity has been used for practical applications for ~150 years, and we don't have demons/dragons/wizards destroying everything every once in a while.

cute maid

incel wizards keep on magicking away every attempt at tech advancement

That's how technology works in real life. Brainlets call geek squad after fucking up their computer. Everyone except electricians call an electrician for electricity problems. Electricity IS real life magic.

Not to mention fantasyland has like, wars every fucking thursday or so.
how are you expected to invent new shit when the records are constantly being burned?

Just checked my own facts and anatomically correct humans were about 300,000 years, "modern" society was around 50,000. Romans alone have records back to 6000 BC.

>Everyone except electricians call an electrician for electricity problems
this is wrong and you're retarded if you believe it, electrical is really easy to DIY

>, electrical is really easy to DIY
don't burn your house down

Pretty sure Shadowrun literally had a volcano blow up in the year like 2040 and then people got magic

based incel wizards preventing to make lives of normalfags to be easier
