I would name it "bugproblem"

It's full of bugs.

Reddit game

I name the flaw Lucas

Wow reddit has a hollow knight page amazing thanks for pointing that out.

leave

Too monochrome to hold my attention. Seems like a good game but not visually interesting enough when I have literally 600 other games to play. One day I'll get into it though. That being said, I do love the designs! Just the colors are boring.

Its non-linearity is its greatest strength and its greatest weakness.

>Just the colors are boring.

Nosk

boring as fuck

no u

It's not a first person open world game

imagine letting a group of people decide what you like

Attached: 1563451293117.png (500x522, 130K)

Every zone looks different the first is bleak for a reason.

looks boring as fuck honestly. sundered did the drawn-metroidvania much much better

this

Takes three hours until the game starts.

sundered>hollow knight when we're talking about base game

SILKSONG ISN'T FUCKING OUT YET

Not enough cute bugs.

Attached: 1552745349703m.jpg (819x1024, 50K)

It's so beautiful I can't play it with my toaster

I'm convinced that people that don't like HK are simply terrible at it.

The Beast's Den is a massive anticlimax after Deepnest, especially if it's your first Dreamer. But other than that, they fixed every other complaint I had through free updates.

Yeah nah.

The handful of bosses are cool though certainly.

kek

what part of sundered is even procedurally generated i didn't even notice in my play through

that looks really cluttered, in a bad way

how is it any more cluttered than hollow shite

you're not wrong

Why is everything a competition with this board?

The combat was way too intense for what I wanted. I mostly wanted to explore with new mobility options but I kept getting bogged down with combat that I didn't care to learn.

>La Mulana
Why does this game get so much love? I hated pretty much every puzzle in it.

>Axiom Verge Great Tier
opinion discarded

>name a flaw

I could name many. How about that godawful map system ?

the combat is literally just the nail + dash + that energy ball spell and occasionally healing.
the badges dont change much.

Based. Haven't seen this bait chart in a while.

Sundered is unplayable garbage, it looks nice and the setting is cool but the gameplay is unbearable

Thats one of my favorite things about it

i really enjoyed the gameplay, especially towards the end when i was a fucking ninja zipping around the arenas wrecking mobs by the hundreds and nuking bosses

No fast travel.

The fucking warrior spirits. shitty backer boss fights with one or two attacks that are absolutely tedious to fight and I highly despise the devs for padding the 5 pantheons in Godhome with these

Just play Dead Cells if you want actually good combat.

Attached: 7f4e47d477954513b7eed0d17e72b792_Large.jpg (600x600, 67K)

Boss fights in Dead Cells are even shittier.

Good try but at least recommend Valdis Story instead.

i wanted to like that game, but the fact that every fucking run the weapons you start out with is rng is total bullshit, most runs arent even worth doing and once you beat the game it's over no replay value at all

It's kinda boring. The excitement you get when you get a new ability is nice, but it goes away once you're using it to explore the same boring environments.

Well you might be autistic then
There is nothing fun about having to buy the map over and over again. The map should be drawn out as you play just like super metroid and etc

>no, it can't possibly be bad or boring at all! if you don't like it, you're just shit at video games!!!!

Attached: 1564270377191.png (782x758, 152K)

You can relock/unlock weapons that you unlocked before now to get rid of lots rng.

Fuck. I can't remember
I just spent 10 minutes trying to remember what I didn't like.
Maybe the White Palace was a bit too much but that was just dumb me not using the bees charm plus deep focus

tedious and gay. i'd rather play sundered.

At first, I saw a couple games I have no opinion on because I hadn't played.
Then, I saw Terraria. The world opened before me. The universe took hold of its own fabric and disemboweled itself while I watched on in horror.
I saw countless realities, mostly unrealities. I lost all sense of... sense. Nothing was comprehensible, nothing had rules.
Then I was back, and I realized I was being fucked with.
Good bait.

I’m going to get shot for this but I wish this game had an easy mode. It turned into a bullet hell of trying to learn the boss patterns and then back tracking when you failed or back tracking because you have to. I stopped playing during the fight with the three mantis’.

how wholesome, thanks.

Attached: 1562803010116.png (1000x815, 676K)

Searching Cornifer sucks
Map feels just a tad too large than necessary

That's about it

that annoying pushback you get when attacking.

Quick rundown on Terraria being classified as a metroidvania?

So how many boring dungeons did you have to grind through to do that?

well, it's an american thing.
it's etched deep into their politics.

Attached: america sux.png (507x507, 197K)

>"I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment after hours spent mastering simple controls and defeating cute bosses (so kawaii!!!!) which momentarily overcomes my crippling depression from lack of purpose"

the game is distilled basedboy bait. there's still some good ideas and design under that atrocious art style, but the simple fact that it's a top tier reddit suggestion should be all the answer you need

great game but it does crash a lot for some reason

>hollow knight
>dungeons
never played the game, huh?

Attached: 1560271244750.jpg (750x750, 72K)

Pshhh... hey...

Attached: Steady_Body.png (127x132, 21K)

it's bait

Attached: low_quality_bait.jpg (600x604, 24K)

Hollow Knight is söy repellent of the highest degree.

Ok, to be fair the game is pretty linear up to that point but later you can just scavenge power ups here and there when you get stuck. It becomes pretty manageable then

>I'm right in front of my first Dreamer corpse
>Get pumped up for a fucking hard fight
>...

Well at least the rest's cool.

the mantis lords is a pretty straight forward battle, it's their Godhome version, the battle sisters where you fight all 3 of them at the same time, that's slightly harder, and even then both encounters are just glorified whack-a-mole

>proving his point
you realize 70% of that image is just the same shade of blue?

see

Attached: Slime.png (921x1024, 34K)

Not more than an hour, it's too fucking shit. Take a hint from Cave Story and don't make me have to walk three miles in every direction just to find the next objective, you stupid ass.
>söy repellent
youtu.be/Y9B9Y_7dd7M
OH NO NO NO NO HOW WILL HOLLOW KIKES RECOVER FROM THIS

Yeah, that was insanely disappointing.

The combat is boring and dull

>everything pre-mantis claw is a slog
>secrets give geo most of the time, which quickly runs out of uses
>enemies have little variety and typically you can just run up to them, whack them a few times or spam spells to kill them easily instead of having to approach them differently, and after geo becomes pointless to gather, enemies too become quite pointless to kill, so you can just dash past.
>besides a handful, most bosses are not so great
>all that time that went into the godmaster dlc and all we get was a badly constructed boss rush (or in reality, a boss slog), yet nothing new to explore, aka wherein hollow knight's strength lies.
>handful of other things i missed or don't care to name

Lack of weapon variety, it'd have been neat to not just be stuck with the nail the entire game.

i like hollow knight but godmaster is a disaster

Attached: 1564048523132.png (512x512, 80K)

Git gud.

Attached: Radiance 2.webm (640x360, 2.63M)

You stoned or autistic?

oh, actually now that i think about it, the third point is probably a GOOD thing. seriously, imagine if they spent time trying to make trash mobs interesting, instead of working on greater parts of the game? there wouldn't be saving this mediocre title that's for sure.

>Design enemy behavior with pushback in mind.
>Give charm to disable pushback.
BRILLIANT

Why do all you fucktards type like this? Forgot your wojack image by the way.

you can't fuck hornet
twitter.com/AdrianDustRed/status/1156976725835821056

They nerfed Godmaster.

You know, the boss can be killed much fast by using Spin slash and then spamming up spell?

>no binding at all
>not even charm binding
yawn

>has no counterargument
>"better attack his typing style"

units of health instead of a meter
not overly colorful
too few spells
too many bosses
only one weapon
no material reward for exploration

i prefer kirby and the amazing mirror when it comes to metroidvanias, but that's just preference
doesn't stop HK from being as phenomenal as it is

>too stupid to find the stag station within walking distance of the first major area
>i totally played the game guys! Trust me!
Why am I not surprised?

This.
Uumuu didn't deserve to get nerfed.

>units of health instead of a meter
I don't understand that being a flaw.

it isnt
thats just my own complaints with it

>units of health instead of a meter

Curious how you think a meter works other than making it harder to see the units. Do you think a meter works without using numbers somehow?

>no material reward for exploration

??? Badges, shortcuts, the actual ending, meter upgrades, new moves, move upgrades, new fights, literal things you trade in for money. Do you know what material means?

>too many bosses
>in a game where the boss fights are a big appeal
>several are optional

Lad think before you write on the internet.

Attached: 1527270927217.jpg (252x255, 16K)

The OP asked for flaws, so you'll forgive my confusion

People will probably get mad about this, but I actually think there's TOO much content for such a difficult game and for how it delivers its story content

The games difficulty forced me to focus so much on gitting good that I felt like I could hardly keep the details of the story straight. The map is beautifully designed, but it was so mazelike, and the lore bits were so vague that I'd stumble upon a signpost or something, read it, have no idea what it was talking about, and then spend hours fighting a boss and forgetting any lore

It's a fantastic game and I love it to pieces, but I think dialing back the scope would have complemented the dripfeed lore more

>paying to go to an area

But no, I'm stupid for not wasting virtual coins to keep playing a game I don't like.
Based retard.

Still not enough bug porn.

Nice video user, do you have something that can do the opposite of making me want to go to sleep

forgot about charms, haven't played it in months

but yeah im not giving criticisms, just my thoughts
not really being serious here

not that user but i think you should read a book

Do you not realize that you only have to pay once to unlock it, not every time you use it? The amount you have to pay to open it up is so negligible that I can hardly even call it a grind.

the price is literally pennies jesus christ try harder

Attached: 1564776497332.jpg (1199x800, 105K)

It's kind of sad how hard you have to stretch just to say "I didn't like game." It's fine you didn't like game. But "I got lost and I'm too stupid to not die and hold onto less than 1 minutes worth of money drops" reflects badly on you, dude.

traversing hollownest can be really tedious later in the game which explains why they made the god mode so you could just fight bosses without worrying about that

i can't i loved this game, even though i didn't do most of the autistic challenges/bosses at the end

to be more succinct i confused "flaws" with "things that could have better suited my tastes"

Its graphically dated--looks too much like a decade old freeware flash game with a bunch of modern post-processing filters slapped on it. Equivalent to a modern "mobile" game.
As much as I enjoyed Aquaria, it was mostly for the music. It aged horribly and its painful to try and replay it now, especially on PC. When I see Hollow Knight, I see a game that was either in development hell or being developed (either partly or wholly) on legacy technology.
This type of game is perfect for handhelds, but can't be justified on more powerful hardware. I'm not making a "poorfag" argument either. Hollow Knight simply looks like a game that was made on a technological (and perhaps ideological) budget, rather than simply appealing to nostalgia.
If I had a Switch, I might consider buying it, but I can't consider wasting money to buy this on PC. In a way you could frame it as reverse buyer's remorse, but that's just petty.

no, the colors are fucking shit and their shittiness is obviously a stylistic choice
you can't have good colors when every color is almost exactly the same with no contrast and nothing to harmonize with, dipshit. hollow knight colors are literally no different than your generic brown and grey piss filter you dumbfuck. you unironically like this shit and then wonder why it was ever popular. just shut the fuck up

Attached: 1558270378385.png (624x642, 378K)

I still have to pay for it, dumbfuck.
>literally pennies
Most enemies drop 2-3 "pennies", meaning I have to kill at least 66. I could have used the False Knight, but why the fuck would I do that when there's charms to buy?
Read above and stop defending a game you didn't fucking play, you secondary faggot.

learn to prioritize your pocket money, zoomer.

Attached: 03iv1o5kl5421.jpg (1033x758, 357K)

Every post you make, I'm just more and more convinced that you simply didn't play the game. The only enemies that only drop 2-3 are the first two you encounter.

shitty artstyle
dark souls in 2D is awful

>I have to grind 66 enemies to afford the first stag station!

You are literally arguing that the game is flawed because you are stupid. I don't think your participation in this thread is going the way you hoped it would.

Super Huge Pro-Tip for you: try hitting the mounds of coins/minerals you see every so often, you liar or moron.

>Likening a 2D platformer to a 3D action adventure game with RPG elements

Attached: brainletKnot.jpg (645x729, 77K)

Only the literal first enemies give that small amount and the stag stations in the beggining areas cost like 25-70 to open

I just lost to that weird plant boss that shoots acid and has the side sword arms like ten times and I'm still really enjoying the game.

Oh, trust me, I know how to do that better than you, considering I refunded Hollow Shite.
There's liks six of them, you bumbling retard.
Oh yes, so I could drop the number down to about 55, correct? Eat shit.

Attached: gfb8b05a1lb21.jpg (978x1068, 485K)

You're literally the only person in the world to not have enough money to just open every stag station you come across. The amount of money the game gives you is stupidly high. Stop damage controlling and just leave the thread you fucking mong, you're just embarassing yourself.

t

level design suffers because you get airdash too early in the game. running back through areas isn't as fun as it should be for a metroid game because of this.

>that guy who was outsmarted by the tutorial sections maps
>that guy who's too stupid to perform basic tasks in a video game
>that guy who doesn't understand why nobody in his life trusts him with anything
>that guy who doesn't realize why he never gets additional duties and promotions at his job

Attached: 1539479289030.jpg (648x484, 131K)

Based.

Not him but I really enjoyed it because by the time you get the map you've already gone through over half the zone. It forces you to find your bearings and learn how to navigate the new area without your map as a crutch, it made me feel like I was constantly losing myself in the depths so I'd have to pay attention to where I was going more than if I was just afk map painting.

>Aquaria in great tier
I will never understand the praise that game got.
>horribly slow movement speed that can only be boosted for a couple seconds with consumables that you can only carry a small number of, and must be crafted using one of the most simplistic yet still clunky crafting systems I've ever seen
>level design is mostly big empty spaces with some passive "enemies" here and there
>the few real enemies you do find are massive damage sponges that aren't fun to fight and feel like a waste of time
>on land controls feel like complete ass (I know that's the point, but intentionally bad controls are still bad controls)
>awful map screen that doesn't let you zoom in enough and lays areas on top of each other, making it difficult to click on the area you want to see
>warp system doesn't let you choose your destination, forcing you to watch the same animation and fade out over and over again as you cycle through areas
>gimmicky transformation system that's completely undermined by the number keys
>transformations are so situational that you'll just spend 90% of your time in the second form
>the sun form, which is needed for the last 10% of the game, just has you repeatedly holding and releasing the RMB every 2 seconds as you hear the same boiling teapot and flashing sound effect over and over and over again
>stiff early flash tier animations ruin otherwise decent artwork
>generic story made worse by a monotonous narrator
>music that while good at first grows tiresome as you hear the same 2 tracks over and over again
There were a couple decent puzzles and boss fights here and there, but most of the game felt like it was actively wasting my time. It's 3 hours of content padded out to almost 15 hours by poor design choices.

>one example out of a dozen contradictions
>"h-haha i was right"
Already explained False Knight, get new bait.
>no evidence to support this
>meanwhile i provide multiple wrinkydink "drops" so my arguments have weight
Sounds like you're the one with damage control, friend.

Yeah I enjoyed the tension that playing without a map in new areas added

Not every boss could be Mantis Lords/Sisters of Battle tier

Attached: 1564182499979.png (265x268, 113K)

No one here has actually played or finished it. They just hear that it's obtuse and difficult so they pretend to like it to gatekeep normalfaggots like most notoriously difficult games, when they spend all of their time in eceleb threads themselves.

It looks like shit at higher aspect ratios. This game was clearly designed at a fixed viewing angle. It doesn't matter what the reason for it, be it "artistic" or software limitations.
If the entire screen is viewable without moving your eyes, it looks fine. The moment the screen is big enough that you have to focus on elements other than the focal point(s), it looks terrible. There's little or no depth what so ever. Everything looks really flat and you can clearly see the layers.

I'm not knocking the entire game, but there was very obviously a budget and they played it safe.

having to equip a charm to see your position on the map is annoying and adds nothing of value to the game

>Axiom verge above hollow knight
>Terraria a metroidvania

Confirmed for not playing vidja and therefore post is against the rules.

>he doesn't know

It was great when it came out. It aged like shit outside the music, which was the highest praise of the game to begin with.

Imagine having an opinion so wrong.

The animation, character design and especially the painted backgrounds are tip top. The game could've easily been in greyscale with that fucking nothing of a color palette though. Overall, it has its moments but it's so monotonous and tiring to look at for extended periods of time.

Imagine being incapable of expressing your opinion meaningfully because you're afraid of social backlash.

based
fuck hollow kikes, their attempt of looking "unique" ironically came crashing down so hard it just became another overhyped tumblr game like FNAF and Undertale

It doesn't matter if it was in grayscale or monochrome. It lacks detail and depth--very basic shapes. The animations are simple with few frames. It looks bad over extended periods because your brain is constantly manipulating the information coming from your eyes.

>hburr durr game hard so game good

I hated FNAF but liked Undertale. The difference between the two games is that FNAF is a passionless cashgrab while Undertale is full of passion.
I hated Undertale's graphic inconsistencies, but the game didn't try to be something it wasn't. It owned up to itself as much as it could without being insufferable about it. Everything insufferable about Undertale is because of the fandom, including some of the donator crap where people tried to inject themselves into the game. (ie Shovelknight and the do-not-steal character)

I'm only upset that Hollow Knight and its fans overvalue the game. Its not an overrated game, but an overvalued game.

>fans of this shit think that this is the best metroidvania ever made
>they never even played a metroidvania

This. It's the best or second best Metroid-like, I agree.

But it isn't even a Metroidvania.

and still looks amazing

The pantheon stuff is a major letdown.

The pantheon of hollownest is outright sadistic.

Silksong seems to be adding a bit of color hopefully
