This game could have been something unique and very innovative back then but not anymore. Now there are games that does it better and I bet that if they get to release those unfinished versions, almost everybody would be utterly dissapointed

Whats weird is that they could do a "fuck you give me money" but they haven't. They just sat on the license and only put out a lackluster port as well as put Duke as a skin for Bulletstorm. It'd be a miracle if they so much as reference him in Borderlands 3.

That was all bullshit. The guy posting that stuff was someone who got screenshots from a stream Frederik Schreiber (VP of 3D Realms after a Danish investor bought the company) did of the game. The Max Payne and Prey stuff was all posted in a public Discord server.

It wouldn't be profitable to do a large scale release, and if they didn't do a large scale release people would complain that they're "Disrespecting" duke. It's happened before. Plus the duke brand isn't really relevant anymore, why bother to press discs and shit? And if it's a digital release, it still begs the question if it's worth even putting out at this point. There may be people SAYING the builds are playable, but are they actually, or are they beta playable with crashes out the ass and errors flung every few seconds.

A couple of companies have asked if they can do updated re-releases of the old console games, something new or retro, DLC for their games that focus on Duke...they all get rejected. Randy has been saying for almost 10 years they have "big plans" for Duke but won't let anyone do anything. Earlier this year it was confirmed they have absolutely nothing in development.

The idea, and this is what Randy Pitchford has said, is that they would include a 2001 era build as a bonus in a Duke Nukem collection. They wouldn't sell it or release it on it's own.

A handful of ex-3D Realms guys and people from the new 3D Realms have said by late-2002 it was largely playable but it's not a 'finished game' by any stretch of the imagination.

It sucks that Gearbox are so unfriendly to their fan community. 3D Realms worked with Devolver Digital who own the rights to Shadow Warrior to release two dozen builds of the game...they approached Gearbox with a similar offer (we'll do all the work for free, it's just fan service) for Duke Nukem 3D and Forever and got told Gearbox weren't interested.

GTIS build is a tech demo from the mid-90s that has many screenshots floating around online showing off lighting and tech features.

its not even 75% done and i cant really just post it. its not that easy. only a small handful of people have access to it. posting what i posted last time brought enough heat in my direction that at this point i either upload the build or do nothing. theres no grey area. maybe someday user.

lots of things were totally broken. so i can imagine something necessary to progress to that part was broken as i cant recall riding a window washing lift to get to the top of the casino.

It worked in what I've seen but the graphics were all messed up and flickering.

After making asses of themselves by delaying it for literally 15 or so years only for the mediocre turd to come out, releasing the jaw dropping 2002 build now would immediately validate everyones criticisms and complaints about the final build.

i have the build, yeah. and i say 'seen' because that was in the past and i havent fucked with it much since. i cant post any kind of proof at all unfortunately. the heat generated from my last posts has lingered around for a while. i really wish i could, but the heat i got thrown in my direction was too much. just know that it wont be forgotten and that someday, you all will have your hands on it.

I'm just happy I have a build of Duke Nukem Forever to play with. It's always fun getting to the Slick Willy and getting a lap dance or riding the motorcycle around the highway and Vegas strip. I just hope it gets released eventually.
