UNREAL TOURNAMENT

Natural Selection.

I doubt anyone remembers this. It was a thing called Red Universe.

It wasn't a game, it was just a weird interactive chat room thing where you could fly around and turn into strange looking characters. It was relaxing.

what a shitty game

As much fun as I had with the newest tribes, the one I will always miss the most is the original Starsiege tribes. I can't even begin to imagine how much time I played this shit on my old 56k modem.
I'm sure I would think it's complete bullshit now, but I loved playing on bloodbath. Always on the team above ground, just dropping down that long ass obelisk passage, and spamming the grenade launcher into their spawn.

WolfET is still running though. The fans open sourced the entire thing.

I played a bunch of local MP but never online, did I miss out?

I really liked this game. Used to spend a ton of time in /dbg/ as well. My friends that I played with, and I all jumped ship when Overwatch came out. By the time we all agreed that Overwatch was shit, only a couple of them were willing to go back, and even by then the game was already ded.

Tribes 2 was better.

>still running
The game is dead, there are only bots on the servers.

BF3 honestly. I wouldn't even say I loved it but I spent a hell of a lot of time playing it and feels felt real when I realized there were only a handful of servers still running with the same relative few peopel playing. It's just hard for me to get used to a time where games come out, get played for a few years and die. Even UT99 still has servers right?

Hell yeah you did. I had a blast playing CTF on Blackwater City/Docks in UYA.

Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat

What are some good alive multiplayer games?

CS 1.6. actually I'm not sure if it's dead. I really should just get it again

DS2 is pretty much only still active on Steam, but only at iron keep, the only time you get action in the rest of the game is during Return to Drangleic every year

consoles all moved on to DS3. even BB is a ghost town now.

sotfs still has plenty of action throughout most areas. just don't expect streams of invasions

We’re never getting Titanfall 3 are we?

Black Prophecy. One of the early space MMORPGs. You could choose factions, each faction had their own type of space ships you could pilot. Obtaining and training skills would allow you better movement mechanics, weapons, damage, etc. It was really fucking cool. I've been searching for a private server for YEARS but so far nothing. Likely dead forever. Still fucking hurts.

The original Tribes was the first video game I ever played.

On a similar note...

As someone who never grew up with a PS3, bluepill me on this.

AVP2

Still has some activity on Steam. Most of the players are russians and species team DM always ends up going to shit because predator is glitched.

Call of Duty 2. The rifle gameplay was really fun and I spent quite some time in the jump servers. I will probably have Toujane burnt into my mind forever.

I remember playing that a bunch. Leveling up on some modded servers with 9 max level was a blast and I fucking loved that baserace map, fuck, I could play it for weeks at the time.

MGO2

Unironically this as much as people shit on it
>that god tier netcode

>not one mention of Blockland yet

Crysis Wars.

2003 master race.

I loved it too.

Fun fact. The team that did the physics contract work for UT04 and the Unreal 2 engine later went to make Rocket League and then later were bought buy Epic. Unreal Engine 2 was meant to have it baked in but consoles couldn't handle it so it was left as a side feature that Psyonix readded to the Engine on a deeper coding level for UT04s launch.

My thoughts too. MAG is one of the only online games I would care to have a sequel to. Most others are an aspect of their time and can be forgotten to their era. I think MAG could still work today and I can't figure out why Sony/Zipper were so retarded with that game. Played the beta for 50 hours easy, because of a break from work.

I bought that on a whim after Quake Champions sucked and i loved the few weeks or so it actually had players.

the first one had a much better survival mode and map design. second game was a huge disappointment

Loved this game. There was some broken stuff you could do and the P2W Witch Doctor didn't help, but i thought it was just goofy fun

N.O.V.A. Vanguard Elite

Robocraft was a really good game in its prime, but the removal of megas, certain mechanics and the main gamemode, it's dying now. I wish the retards developing it actually gave a damn but unless they release a legacy version a la WoW it's gonna be below 100 players average by the end of next year.

I mean, can't you technically install it and play? Just no one is playing.

I feel like for years of me jumping on every so often, there were just so few people on at any one time.

>tribes 2 meltdown in the early days before keen completely bloated everything
only the most eternally superior gamers will know this feel

Attached: maxresdefault (18).jpg (1280x720, 103K)

Tribes 1. never got into the sequels.
more recently CSGO (It's dead to me with all the shitty gameplay changes.)

It's still alive. Nowhere near as it use to be, but it's got a good amount of players still.

May I ask why it seemed like way more normalfags loved this than armored core V?

they fucked themselves, and kinda deserved it, but hey, it was fun. fans are trying to get it back up single player though to moderate success

Attached: orcs-must-die-unchained.jpg (620x354, 88K)

AC was incredibly lacking in all areas. AC4 and onward at least were decent single player.

CH had good teambased multiplayer with actual builds and effort in keeping a solid gameplay experience.

The biggest issue with Lawbreakers was that it wasn't even a bad game. It just had terrible marketing and came out in a time where the market was just completely saturated with shit that was exactly the same, or at least appeared to be to consumers. That Crowbcat video about the game sums a lot of it up well.

I was so excited after having played the beta and loving it. Got my blood pumping furiously, no other game even comes close.

People mostly play rankin whenever I check, so sick of that damn map.

Not as good as Warhawk and it ultimately killed the studio, but it was one of the last games i played with a friend before he died

Attached: starhawk cover.jpg (1293x1500, 460K)

Call of Duty 3, it had no PC release so once it moved on it died completely. The multiplayer was completely different, it had classes and vehicles, it was great

I have a couple friends who will play this every once in a blue moon. Sometimes a random person will join us.

Attached: ricochet.jpg (460x215, 16K)

It was a bit too ambitious for its own good. The build system had potential but I feel like they didn't really put enough thought into balancing it.

Underrated. Anyone who liked battlefront 2 should have played this. It was so absolutely criminally underrated.

Homefront

i miss her bros

It was a HL1 mod called vampire slayer source, and there is absolutely fucking nothing like it.

It was humans vs vampires. Humans would get all kinds of guns/crossbows/stakes, and they could down vampires with them, but to kill them they had to stake them.

Vamps could leap pounce, jump high, and attack with claws (and had a few special powers too based on which one u picked).

It was really fun.

>UFC is far more complicated as it includes punching and kicking as well as submission holds

AC has a ton of build variety, with the death of VD INT servers builds are somewhat limited to account for defense balances, but with a coordinated team you could actually build for strengths and weaknesses and move around the map to actually make the rock paper scissors defense types work.

VS was severely underrated and is one of the earliest asymmetrical MP games I can think of, actually.

it will never stop stinging

pls don't make me cry, it truly was an amazing game and a G1 fans wet dream. Alas, no more.

that was a warhammer planetside 2 knock off and i believe it was shit.

i think you're referring to that planetside-ripoff type of deal they were trying, it was going to be horribly p2w, with f2p players forced to play as fodder.

Too bad they were a CIA front though.

In it's prime with the right people it was the best though.
I used to be in a clan called HAMD Drunkest Division.
We didn't take the game too seriously and always experimented with meme builds and the like in big operations in a platoon or two (each platoon is 48ppl), usually picking up a heap of randoms along the way for drunk antics.
Every time we took a facility, we did shots.
Every time we lost a facility, we did shots.
Every fight on a Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun night was 200 vs 200 minimum. Shit was like real warfare. I miss it so much

Was good times, but they dont have a discord or website... no online presence whatsoever so I haven't been able to catch up with them.

By comparison, Planetside 2 nowadays is mostly p2w multiclassing shit mostly populated by try-hard Koreans and Chinese.

>almost 250 posts and still no mention of your legendary dead game
Feels bad man.
Hoping WoW Classic does well so it spurs a revival of old, nearly-dead MMOs.

based

there's a group of anons doing a unity re-make/port of it

Not that guy you're responding to but the main problem with PS2 I find is the basic gunplay sucks absolute ass through a straw and it's only the novelty of the grand scale game that appeals.

:(

Attached: Capture - Copy.png (175x104, 3K)

There are a massive amount of people playing Runescape, er FFXI still. About as many as ever played, all 3,000.

gunplay was one of my favorite parts of PS2 I could become a one man army as a heavy with well placed headshots and go on 32 killstreaks and take entire points by myself

Go to the nosgoth official discord, found on the steam forums. Try not to spread it.

Whoops haha sorry man I just killed you out of stealth with a shotgun try again.

We're DEFINITELY getting Titfanfall 3.

>the gunplay is good because imbalanced as fuck pay2win shit tips things in your favor

Attached: 1338106781638.gif (500x411, 817K)

I would have loved to try that. Seems comfy

The only P2W part of PS2 was the implants up until that point everything was fairly balanced with the majority of the best guns in the game being the starter versions with the others being side grades that specialized in certain fields

Jedi Academy: Movie Battles 2

you never played the game past beta if you think you could do that

any half-decent player knew the default guns were overpowered

the game had problems, but p2w was not one of them. until implants that is, but thats one of the things that sent it to its grave

looks like a zoomer's first Respawn game was Apex dumpsterfire

Based

apex is supposedly set in a period where all of the pilots went into hiding after everyone decided that they were too dangerous or some stupid shit like that and wanted to 6 million them

Battlefield 3

Best shooter I've ever played and I've been playing them since we used riot shields on cs

I can never remember if it was AA1 or AA2 I wasted my youth on. I think it was 2.
Either way, Bridge 4 eva even though in hindsight it was a really shitty map.
>SAW/Medic combo, bitches wanted my dick all day

yeah it does a bit.
i was a medic though so I was too busy reviving people, healing with the shield generator and lobbing Revive grenades across the battlefield like footballs to shoot most of the time.

BROOOOOOO same here!
fuckin Earl yoist and urchin pig girl

XI in it's golden age had player count in the 100's of thousands.
they lost a lot of players when they stopped supporting PS2 and Xbox360.
lost most of their players when they raise the lvl cap past lv75. the game died from that unfortunately.
There's still a few thousand that play but the game is basically singleplayer online at the moment.
private servers are doing well though but of the 3 choices of servers, the busiest one is shit and the other 2 dont get enough recognition.

No one owns a copy of this one, as far as I know. RIP

Attached: Woman-Lib backglass.jpg (1006x1003, 293K)

Battlerite was cool they just refused to balance it or release actually interesting characters. I remember the last time I played it Raigon was still fucking broken, as were all the super safe supports like Poloma and Blossom made it such a fucking slog. The thing that killed it for me was when they released that terribly designed edgy black chick and the battle royale mode.

i cant remember the name but there was this one mech game i loved

Quake still has a fair amount of players and I play with it all the time so it's not dead, so tired of all those stupid youtubers and their dumb clickbait. Saying everything is dead

I also played this game and I also liked it.
It had roller skates, grappling hooks, wingsuits, bouncy shoes, invisibility, etc

I mean if they took the time they invested in making titans and put that in polishing rest of the game it would be the best fps of the century, I fucking loved titanfall 2

Im still playing TFC

Tell me more. I loved this, despite all its flaws.

Wolf et isn't even dead i still play it daily, only quake et is dead but u can just get the game from russian torrents and look up a cd key online

Bullshit. They wouldn't just murder their own setting like that, also if you want to stop all the pilots, good fucking luck.

Halo

It's out already. It's good too

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for PS2 was excellent. I spent far too much time playing it, probably as late as 2010 or 11.
Trying to send messages on the in-game keyboard was a nightmare though.

Attached: 1546013303567.jpg (720x480, 79K)

I loved this fucking game. All the mods added so much stuff to it(Renegades was a favorite). Never could make a damn death star though.

Titanfall 2 is not dead yet. Dying, but not dead

Global Agenda

Halo 1-3 to be honest. MCC could have revived it in a big way. It killed Halo. Well 343 did but still.

If you don't mind playing on a server run by a man worse than Stalin and Hitler combined than you can play it with lots of people again.

It was fun as hell, it was tactical/strategic as hell and could swing easily between sheer awesomeness to smashing keyboard on the desk when someone pulls a surprise redemption or drops a titan on your core.
I miss UT3 so much - 2010-12 were the best years for me playing it (got pc that could run it no sweat). UT2004 still provides some comfort.

Fuck yes, those games had something magical about their multiplayer.

Conker in particular was way better than it had any right to be.

I Halofield 2142 as well bro, it was a fun game

its actually just a change in management. Or management had a change of heart.

All it takes for a group of well loved and active devs to go completely silent is an email from their boss.

I remember soldiers serving in the US Army had a symbol next to their name. As a young child, it made me excited when I, a 12-year-old, collaborated with them to get the objective done. Shit it took me at least half a year to be able to successfully complete the SF training.
also loved the moded servers where everyone spawn with rpgs or saws and crazy stuff like that.

Two morons detected, use trackbase/splatladder to look for servers

no sliding anime mechs
you could build crazy stuff
i think CH could still be highly relevant game today

Did you know that MNC was set to be the first fully raytraced game ever released if Intel didn't shit on its Larabee processors?

if you can deal with atrocious ping (and when did you not with this game), it's still playable, you just have to deal with stacked predator teams

I was so fucking good at this game when I wasn't forced in matches with 200+ ms ping. Still, always tried my best. Raider was my favorite mech.
And the soundtrack was fucking excellent. Shame PaperSound's been stuck with making formulaic garbage for indie pixelshit games ever since. Fuck, right in the nostalgia.

>Bluepill me
Game was a janky/mindless FPS where retards run around everywhere with no order to anything.

>Redpill me
Game was a massive full-scale assault where hundreds of players fought in split squads to either attack or defend objective points. This was organized by splitting teams into series of smaller squads that were tasked to attack/defend their own sectors, and if one part of the map became breached, it made it harder for the remaining points to defend their own spot (so while you didn't work side by side outside of your squad right away, your ability to play the objective had a ripple effect on everything in the map).

Each map had layers of points that needed defending, starting with more open areas that became more packed and industrial the further in players went. What's more, certain players who had a number of matched unter their belt and were higher ranked could be squad leaders, what were giving access to powerful abilities like artillery strikes, and could mark specific objectives for his squad to focus on, giving everyone in that squad extra XP if they played the game around that point. Squad leaders were also the only ones who could talk with officers in the game, who controlled entire platoons in a similar means of Squad Leaders, but were more in control of overall battlefield logistics.

Lets not forget player customization. Sure, the game gave an edge to players with higher levels, but the game was all about teamwork, and this was even more pushed by how you built your character through the skill tree. Support skills (like the medic gun) when maxed out let you raise downed teammates more often, and for more health, and would offer 3x the XP simple kills would. Combine this with the previously mentioned Objective XP multiplier, you ended up with more players helping one another stay in the game where they were supposed to be, rather than having everyone try to lone wolf in the middle of nowhere.

Absolutely. Its a game where you really should just jump in. Its an actual video game, where the lightsaber combat feels very satisfying in fact its probably still the best out of most SW games. Or at least watch Worth a Buy's review on it.

Sad state of gaming today. We should have a classic fps revival, weekly sessions, different game every week on rotation.

HL2 deathmatch

It's not the same anymore. Too many zoomers

Why don't more games have three teams competing? Is it because compfags can't into manipulating the other teams? I know mind games are an integral part of most competitive gaming, so you'd think that three team games would be more common.
Also fuck EA for killing this before it was even finished.

Mcc got fixed about 9 months ago and has a healthy population now, play it constantly

All they needed to do was fix the fucked matchmaking (especially the waiting screen, jesus christ just let me walk around while I wait instead of staring at a slowly rotating pattern) and make ammo less of a pain to make and it would have been great. Perhaps add game modes other than wave defence. Otherwise, didn't deserve the hate it received at all.

It was free and was one of the best TF games/mods. Not like the gay shit ever since Valve ruined TF forever.

Community was apparently faggots because it went from small but very active and tight-knit to dead overnight when fucking Guildwars of all things came out and everybody left for that for some fucking reason.

Bloodhound and Wraith are probably pilots.

Extremely underrated game.

Pilot Trainee's maybe but definitely not pilots, literally on a whole other level from standard humans.

Perhaps we'll meet again...

>Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
This is her name but she's not dead like says. Some guy mentioned ET Legacy in a thread a week ago or something and I started playing a little again. It's basically just like I remember it, still trying to get used to Jaymod hitboxes though since I never played that (ETPub and ETPro mainly).

Holy fuck, did you do this?
I remember thinking about how many people actually made use of the curving when I read the tip, but I figured it's probably only happened rarely, with some lucky shots
This is incredible

I would do anything for this to work again, Chromehounds was the greatest game of all time.

Im the same guy who spams the guides for et legacy with the trackbase/splatladder whenever people request help with playing ET nowdays

It still hurts Yea Forumsros.

You're probably the guy then. I got it from that trackbase/splatladder post, though I don't use it. I just go to that one Jaymod server with 30+ players 24/7. Thanks for that btw. Only reason I didn't keep playing is because I lost my original ETKey and when Punkbuster stopped supporting it I kind of got worried it would be full of aimbots. Since on non PB servers it certainly was full of bots back in teh day.

i played this when it first came out and ended up playing with devs every other game because the shit was so dead, they just seemed like cool dudes who wanted to make a game that they would enjoy playing

Yeah you're playing on FA jaymod 1 server im always there when i need some relief, also i suggest making a trackbase account so u could save your etkey on their database and pull it whenever you need it, and custom anti cheats need a thing for the longest time

It has been dead to me since 7th zombies went offline

I remember when CCP extended an olive branch to MAG players with their fps and then that game was abandoned too.

Shame they're too afraid to integrate valkyrie or DUST with EVE in any meaningful way.

>i suggest making a trackbase account so u could save your etkey on their database
Oh, didn't know that. I'll do that sometime soon I guess. Anyone on that server looked into whether that bunny fag is an aimbot btw? I've spectated him a few times and seen some suspicious snaps but I haven't played in a decade so I might just be rusty and seeing things that aren't happening. I know I used to get accused way back, when I wasn't a boomer yet and still had hand eye coordination, so I don't want to be that guy and say anything with my name attached to it.

>2 aren't even fps
Pathetic dude. You don't like anything that isn't FPS? Fine, just don't be a butthurt little brainlet when others have a wider pallete of taste than you.

Does it still count if I never actually got to even play multiplayer because it was already dead?
Still love this game to death though

What a weird thing to lie about user

exquisite taste

Fucking a right! This is THE KING of Multiple FPS as far as I'm concerned. I can still remember every map like the back of my hand, and I still was surprised and delighted during gameplay. Never got old, not once. That's the mark of a perfect game.

Yeah some of them are veterans of the game they aren't hacking at all, they usually have good terms with the clan, also i suggest using /cg_fov 120 if you're on a 16:9 monitor i personally use 140 just because im using a ultrawide one and jaymod doesn't has a hard cap on 120

Titanfall 2

Those were good times though. Played with a few /vg/ guys back in the day, comfy days.

Also fuck Vanu.

Nah 105 is basically perfect for me. 120 is too fisheyed and makes it harder to see far away. That setting really depends on how far you sit away from your monitor too. If you sit closer then you should set it higher. There's a video I watched a year ago or something from some guy talking about FoV in racing sim games and he mentioned that and it started to make a lot more sense. Turns out my 105 FoV from way back in the day when I used that FoV calculator site was basically perfect.

fucking this!
I miss those days guys

Good I miss this so much
This was peak third person Battlefield-like gaming
Nothing will touch it, with the jet packs and warhawks and other vehicles.

This game was way ahead of its time, but it also fucking sucked.

What's Uber Entertainment been up to lately, anyway? I remember at one point we were having threads about whether Uber or Hi-Rez was a worse company.

I used to host Battlefront too. In fact, I created one of the most common OP images with instructions on how to join/host. I ultimately stopped because people were autistic about mods. If I hosted modded, we'd only get like 8-10 players, the thread would be filled with posts asking how to install the mods, half the modded content was glitchy as fuck, and everyone just wanted to play the nostalgic vanilla content anyway. If I hosted vanilla, we'd have more players, but the thread would be filled with people calling me a faggot for not playing modded, and then someone would make a modded server to split the group and create two even smaller servers.

I wouldn't mind trying to host again someday, especially since GOG fixed the native multiplayer. But jannies are also very strict about Yea Forums plays threads nowadays so I dunno.

the shadowrun fps game

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO!

community died in my country years ago, the only battlefield i enjoyed in years, the multiplayer on pc was out of this world fun, on the right maps that is.

Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast version 1.02.
In fairness, it's not technically dead, a handful of people still play it even after all these years.
