I love the alarm bell in the Museum Piece mission, it makes it really dramatic. Also, there are some missions, like A Long Way to Fall, where they have a radio playing in the hotel and it's kind of cool. But overall yeah, the score in V was fantastic and really added flavor to the missions

Around the initial release, I played GTA4's story about 60% through and stopped playing because I burnt myself out, now almost a decade later I tried to play it again and maybe complete it and sadly it has aged like milk, I couldn't play more than 3 hours, the world is so dull and drab, cars drive like they have their suspension removed and the camera is not centered but awkwardly askew so that OCD hits you and driving makes you physically and mentally ill. Granted, the storytelling and the characters were still catchy, but they couldn't make me stick with the game with the gameplay mechanics being so bad.
Sure, GTA5 is a slight improvement and very arcadey, but at least it feels good to play and it controls well.

Yeah, I know, they probably won't go back to a time without a phone to call you for missions, without navigation in cars and without smartphones anymore because some of the general audience wouldn't like it and Rockstar expects these games now to be a mind-blowing success.

But 1977 NY could be a very interesting and fresh setting. And it would be finally a new GTA game with good music from beginning to end, not just one or two decent songs per radio station like in IV and V. And some good DJs that don't just cuss or talk about perversions to be interesting again. I'd love that.

Most of the music in IV was much more bland and forgettable than in SA, which was already a step down from VC. There were maybe one or two good songs per station. Same goes for V. If you weren't lucky to catch one of the few good songs, you might as well just turn off the radio for the next few minutes.
